This is a thread devoted to those in their 50s & 60s and beyond who don't have children or grandchildren but live rich, full lives. Please feel free to join our stroll thru life and come back often for support and to share. ************************************************** It is National Dress Day.
The last time I wore a dress was 3 years ago at DN#2โs wedding. I was so uncomfortable. I prefer slacks, jeans or athleisure.
Have a great Thursday.

Thanks for the start Chele. It's been a long time since I wore a dress. I remember wearing dresses and suits to work almost every day in the 80s and then Casual Friday started. It was so much more comfortable to be able to wear pants on Friday and I think that started a trend of a lot of us wearing nice slacks on other days instead of dresses. I had a lot of nice pantsuits in the 90s and then it seemed like it went even more casual in the 2000s and beyond.
We've got a 19mph wind coming from the southwest and blowing lots of hot air this way. It's supposed to get near 90 and then a front comes in tonight. We'll be cooler for the next few days.
Hope everyone has a good Thursday.

Thanks for the start Chele.I have a couple of dresses and I will wear them to church during spring and summer.I do prefer jeans in the winter or shorts in the summer.
Kathy Ugh on the 90's.When I walked today we had a 12 MPH north wind but it was 72 degrees.I think one day we will get up to 80 but I am not ready for the 90's and I'm sure you aren't either.Glad you will be cooler for next few days.
Linda Sorry Bob needed you at 2:30.I'm glad he got good news but you need to rest some now.How is he feeling?

Thanks for the start, Chele. How's the baby doing? When will you and Uncle Iggy visit? I wear a lot of skorts in the summer, especially on the trails. But, like you, I haven't worn a dress since DN's wedding, which was 7 or 8 years ago. I had a sexist community college president once upon a time who was well known to let the female employees know he preferred them to wear skirts. So you know who got out of the skirt habit real quick. As of today, it will officially be an "old guy" in the WH, even if the party changes. I hate that Warren dropped out, but can't blame her after placing 3rd in her home state. I told Dale that I hope Bloomberg puts some $$ in the Senate races in KY and SC and the House race in Columbus. Jim Jordan gets on my nerves.
Kathy, I meant to tell you the other day that I think it stunk that you got pulled over with a bunch of others for supposedly running a stop sign. Sounds like they were not meeting their quota that month. I still have several pair of dress pants and that was what I typically wore for the last 20 years of my career. Even on Fridays, as dean I never felt comfortable wearing jeans to work. That was some warm wind you got. I guess it may have felt a little cooler than the thermometer said, but still not a good thing for this time of year. Enjoy the cool down.
Sorry about your up and down night, Linda. Good news but sorry about the full waiting room. I hope nobody was coughing and sneezing. I guess the catheter is out now and I know that has to be a relief for both of you. Will he have physical therapy or additional follow ups? Get some rest. You have earned it.
Becky, I wouldn't be ready for even the 80s down there this time of year. Enjoy that breeze, but I know Scooter probably didn't. Was it too windy to walk today? Will your weather be cooler like Kathy's over the next few days? There is talk that we may see snow on Saturday but I hope not. How was the knee today?
How goes COVID-19, Liz? We had a big local meeting yesterday with all the powers that be in healthcare, government, public safety, and the school system, so our planning is underway. The daughter of the Osteo owner is a Naturopathic doc and has done a lot of research on the virus. She says that it can stay on surfaces for up to 9 days and believes even in our area, it will be a matter of when, rather than if, on quarantines. She wasn't very concerned about it to begin with but now sees it as a threat. With the number of Osteo clients who have co-morbidities, including COPD, heart problems, etc., if it gets to be even questionable, Osteo will take a hiatus. I wish everyone was that diligent.
I had a very long day, mainly due to really heavy traffic coming home. Then I had to stop at the local library to pick some things up for Dale and school had just let out and I had a ton of kids hanging around, so it was a zoo. I told Dale going forward if I need to stop there, I will do it on the way to instead of the way home. I had a new record on the leg machine at Osteo--1504 lbs--and did pretty well on the other machines. Then had a good workout at Gold's (and will be very sore tomorrow), hit TJ's, and came home. I got a bunch of stuff at TJ's, including a case of low sodium veggie broth, which is what I use to make my savory oats as well as soups. One think I found today was kale gnocchi, so that will give me some greens without it being salad. I also got some frozen organic spinach. Depending upon Covid-19, I may not be going to TJ's for a while, so it was a stock up trip. I also got a couple of containers of chocolate hummus, which is great to dip grapes in. Nothing on tomorrow's agenda except resting. I'm also trying to coordinate how we are going to give the master gardener class a final exam without it actually being an exam. I've been back and forth on and off today with the folks facilitating the class next week, which is the last class session, and I think we are going to develop a final group project they will work on in class. I hate giving an actual test to older adults (40s to 60s) who haven't taken a test in years and have no reason to build their test taking skills. Hopefully I can leave things in the hands of my folks who are planning to be there so I won't have to attend. I've put in about 3 hours of volunteer time today even with not being home that much. Hopefully things will slow down after next week's class ends.
