Thanks for the start, Karen, on this Thursday. Don’t overtax your knee today.
Becky, I hope you are doing well and will be released tomorrow.
Linda, I am glad you stayed away from the crowd. Better to be safe. I hope DSIL and DH will be OK in Hawaii.
Kathy, good luck with yours and DM’s taxes. I am surprised Disney and Universal have not issued any statements about their actions to keep patrons healthy. I have received emails from our credit unions and grocery stores about the precautions they are taking.
Liz, yikes on National Guard in New Rochelle. Be safe and well, my friend.
I need to not watch the news or check the stock market. I am really depressed. Our local news changed March Madness to March Sadness. I am afraid the President’s speech had the opposite effect than needed, at least around here.

ASU and Uof A are suspending regular classes and doing tv classes until April 6 after break then reassessing. No cases at universities here. Lot of events cancelled.
It rains on and off yet, but the furry one got out three times after six and breakfast, so he is contentedly by me on the bed while I drink coffee and watch local news.
The stock market is going nuts with the Saudi gas war with Russia and Iraq...or Iran? Saudi's as usual care nothing about world economy and increased their production to drive down prices again.

Hello from NYC Chicks! Becky - so glad you popped in and hope all went very well. Get some much needed rest and healing! Sending you great gobs of good karma and healing thoughts!! Karen - take care of that knee and don't push it my friend. I hope it's feeling a bit better today but you know knees require elevating and rest with either heat or ice. We're at 5 confirmed in house and 28 in observation. The subways and trains have been much lighter than usual. Many are working from home if they are able as per their companies. The St. Pat's Day Parade has been cancelled for the first time in history. It's a "panic-demic" out there. Two grown men were fighting on the train going home last night. They had to be told to stop!! Market tanked, Trump went bump with his ridiculous speech and March Sadness and NBA no more for now. Chele - we are somewhat sunny and upper 40s today. John's Hopkins had a terrific Corona virus tracker running until hackers got to it and started spreading malware. There's even scammers out there sending fake CDC emails to people. Dear heavens the degradation of humanity; it just continues to surprise me how low folks will go. 216 positive cases with 52 here in the city and 121 of them up in Westchester County where I live. Thank heavens the epicenter is south of me by 25 minutes. Be safe and take good care of you! Kathy - good luck with DM's taxes; thank goodness Gary took ours to the accountant a few weeks ago so that is taken care of now. Won't be much of a sports season with the virus being what it is and not to be trifled with in large groups. We're having our leadership town hall tomorrow via remote access. Linda - I hope that the patient continues to improve and I'm glad you won't be driving at night with the glaring lights. I have a real problem with that also. It's taxing to be in the hospital with so much tension and anxiety going on. Not that it's ever calm but the stress has been ramped up exponentially with the number of Covid-19 cases being evaluated. Yep, the stock market is a mess and agree that the Saudi's could care less. I'm off to fight the forces of Corona evil my friends. Be safe and take care. Ciao for now~

Chele, with the NBA, MLB, and NCAA suspending seasons or banning fans, I, too, am surprised that the big theme parks aren't making announcements. I'll bet you got the same emails from Kroger and CVS that I have. I agree that the president's speech didn't do much to help things and probably hurt them. I told Dale this morning that the best thing that could happen is if the president tested positive for Coronavirus. It wouldn't have to be a case bad enough to be hospitalized, but if he suddenly got it, his focus would be shifted from the economic impact that he can't control and travel bans that are more against foreigners. Dale and I were just talking about how it's probably not good for us to be watching about the stock market and corona right before bedtime. Neither of us has been sleeping particularly well. He got a call today from one of his former coworkers who is trying to pull some strings to get him onboarded despite a hiring freeze because they have more work than they can handle and he's agreeable to going back. If you remember, they offered him part time or a leave of absence, so he left on good terms. I think he is ready to go back at least part time, especially with having to renovate the other house. We have chased a starling away from the feeder several times today. Talk about brazen--Dale had to actually walk out on the deck the last time before he would fly away. Dale estimates they are consuming about 2" per tube per day, which is a lot.
Great to hear that you're going home, Becky. The surgery must have gone very well. I know you'll be thrilled and hopefully are not in too much pain. Tell Scooter to behave herself.
Liz, YIKES!! on Westchester County! I guess sometimes it's a good thing that you aren't home any more than you are. Of course you have plenty of potential for exposure, between the hospital and the commute, so you really don't need any more. Are you hearing anything on the greater availability of testing there? I saw a 20-something on the news earlier today who, with a bunch of friends, all got sick a week or so after attending a house party in Seattle. They tried to get tested for corona and were turned down. They enrolled in a study about how effective the flu vaccines are against the current strains and were told they were all positive for Covid-19. How pathetic! How are you doing physically and emotionally? This has to be so stressful.
Most of the universities in this part of the country have gone totally online, Linda. Community colleges may be going that direction as well. Very unfortunate that the gas war hit at the same time that the world economy is suffering from novel coronavirus. On the positive side, most of the gas stations around here are below $2 for regular and it may keep going down for a while.
I took it easy on my knee today and my Osteo numbers showed it. After listening to some of the medical experts last night, I decided I would decrease my potential for exposure by taking a break from the gyms for at least a couple of weeks, especially after there have been some documented exposures at gyms around the country and I know people aren't taking precautions at my gyms. I have free weights here, so I can still work out. Having Silver Sneakers will pay off because I won't be wasting a money on a membership I'm not using. I have to go to master gardeners on Monday evening because I'm president. But, beyond that, I will be going only to Osteo and will do grocery shopping on the same trip. Dale is planning to stop going to the pool, which is just about the only place he goes that he comes into contact with anyone other than me. He does have a race in VA this weekend and is waiting to hear if it's going to be canceled. It will be outdoors, so he shouldn't have a huge potential for exposure. My allergies are also ramping up, so the fun is just beginning. And no baseball to take my mind off things.

Karen, thanks for the start. The Dow futures were plunging last night as Trump spoke, so it definitely made things worse. The longer he spoke, the more they went down. It doesn't do any good at this point to blame China or the EU for not stopping the spread of the virus over there. I've been doing the same on the news and it's not helping my sleep either. Good idea to take a break from the gym for now. I tried to talk my DS into that last night. She does a Cross-Fit kind of thing with a small group, so they rotate to different stations and toss balls to each other and stuff like that. I don't think she was convinced to take a break. She also runs and has some things at home, so it's not like she wouldn't be getting activity in. Becky, great to hear from you and hope all went well. Take it easy and hope you have a smooth recovery! Liz, I hadn't heard panic-demic, but that's about right. I took my DM to an eye doctor appt. and went to Publix while she was there. There was not a square to spare of TP. The shelves were absolutely empty! Also gone were hand sanitizers, wipes and Lysol spray. Water was going fast too. The pharmacy line was incredibly long and I decided not to venture over to that part of the store based on the coughing I heard. I would guess the software lab I worked in will let people do a lot of work from home and I'm sure most travel has been suspended. I'm glad they're doing your meetings remotely. DM and I have pretty simple taxes and it usually only takes me around 1 hour each with the tax software. Once you do it one year, you can import all your info for the next year. You can also import W-2s and some of the other statements online, so you don't have to type all of that in. Traffic was crazy here today, so I guess it must've been due to the buying frenzy. Stay safe with all those forces of evil out and about! Chele, it's hard not to be depressed about all of this. That is sad on March Sadness and the NBA games are suspended for now. I thought the President's speech didn't do what was needed to reassure people. I shouldn't be looking at the stock market either. I keep reminding myself that I didn't intend to touch that money for a long time, but it is hard to see it disappear. I'm surprised there hasn't been more of a response from the theme parks either. They aren't closing and aren't being real great about people that want refunds. I can't imagine getting onto those rides or walking around in those crowds right now. Linda, the universities here are going to online classes too. That works great for a lot of things, but I don't know how they'll handle classes that have to be hands on like chemistry labs or things like dance and music. I'm guessing some people's degrees will be delayed if this goes on for too long.

If I have to go to a store, I wash my hands minute I get home, disinfect counter grocery bags were on and go over things I touched on the car with Chloxox wipe! Today is watch it rain, dog walk when it stops, puzzle, read, do games on ipad and laundry.
I have to go to ortho clinic tomorrow because it is time to get right knee shots going or suffer, signing in with own pen and standing by the wall where they call you in.
Glad you are home after surgery, Becky...hope for quick recovery
