Linda, LOL on Bob counting TP in the garage. It keeps him occupied. I have also been puzzled by the run on water. Nobody has said anything about bread and milk, which are what people rush for here when there is a mention of snow in the forecast. I wonder how much of this is just what they are used to stocking up with in times of weather crises and that's all they know. What you and Chele described is exactly what I heard from a local friend, with long lines and empty shelves at grocery stores. I didn't see the "what you'll need if you're quarantined" segment. We even got 2 emergency calls from the county mayor saying to wash your hands and don't hoard food. Most grocery store chains have discontinued food samples, but some are saying if you want a sample, they will get you a sample of what you want. I'm happy we didn't go out, except with a pup, yesterday. How's the knee doing today? Shot kicking in yet? Good to be able to get in and out quickly to avoid germs. Sorry about the storm. We apparently had some in the area but none here. We did have wind, however, which you know Arya doesn't like. Amazing how much rain you're getting. What's your favorite tea?
Thanks for the start, Chele. Tissues weren't a hot commodity? I guess that wasn't on NBC's list in the segment Linda mentioned. Sounds like a lot of people where you live also saw the report. Happy Pi Day. What's on your agenda today? I imagine you won't be venturing out. How are things going with DN and the new baby? One starling in particular is being very persistent. We've chased him away 4 times already this morning.
Liz, I hope your grocery store is restocked before Sunday. Good plan on the webex meeting, and I hope you will have a lot more of those coming up. Any chance you'll get to work from home any so you won't have to take a chance on getting exposed? I hope you enjoyed your spring-like weather. We got into the mid 60s, so nice but not as warm as your weather. We are expecting that at the end of next week, but it will come with rain.
Dollywood has delayed opening for 2 weeks, Kathy. They originally said they were going to open as scheduled today but then changed their minds a couple of hours later. Sorry the pond is at such a low level. I'll bet your critters aren't happy. Hopefully you won't have any blue-green algae forming like we had in places around here last year. They have taken our lake down quite a bit but it may be because we are expecting more rain this weekend and into next week. Good news that Broward seems to be the only community transmission area in FL. Have they closed the public schools yet? We have churches here that won't be having services for a couple of weeks as well. I'm staying far, far away from reviewing our investments. Too depressing.
Becky, how are you feeling? When do you go back to the surgeon? This is a good time to stay out of circulation. Any cases of Covid-19 close to you?
We now have at least one local case in our county, so it's here. I am thinking about canceling my hair cut on the 24th. I've been spending a great deal of time on master gardener things related to Covid-19, with a meeting Monday evening and a couple of major events scheduled for next month that we hope we won't have to cancel. I'm kind of stuck in the middle because we have an interim coordinator from UT, but the retired guy is also involving himself which is making my life harder right now, but I can't say anything about that. If he hadn't retired, this would all be his problem and not mine, so it has compounded things. The guy in charge of the plant sale has his 91 year old MIL with COPD living with them, so he has considerations beyond himself (he's 60 and healthy) because he can't risk being a carrier. And so many of our members are 70+, so that's also a challenge.

Karen, sorry about all the MG issues and you being stuck in the middle. All you can do is wait and see whether your events may go on as scheduled. DN is doing well and so is baby. We went to the butcher because the carnivore was down to one while chicken. We got there 30 minutes after it opened a d the line was out the door. We did not stay. We drove to the turkey store which was not that busy so we got the last chicken. a couple of lbs of ground beef (limit 5 lbs per person), turkey parts plus some Amish canned peaches. Then we went to the bread outlet. I have a 5 lb bag of flour to make bread but Iggy want to freeze some just in case. The bread outlet was not busy but the shelves were not fully stocked either.
Waving to all. TTYL.

Hope things ease up for you, Karen.
Good luck, Liz,
How are you, Becky?
Let Micki out and fed him and went back to bed around six. Drifted in and out lying here like a drooped rag doll. DH was up when I went to get coffee and he risked homicide....before coffee he asked me if we should order more dishwasher tablets as we only have 100. that is good for 7 months in our house. Then he started on news about Euro border closings and I'm saying let me have coffee in peace and going back to bed!
I think human nature is feeling helpless and insecure waiting for the virus thing to evolve and doing things that feel like control. Having president āme, myself, and I do not believe scienceā constantly on tv having to be āexplainedā by others for stupidity does not help. Immediately went to PBS show on birders!

Karen, I'm not surprised that Dollywood isn't opening yet. They've closed the public schools here until March 30, so they're extending spring break by a couple of weeks. I guess they'll reevaluate later in March as to whether or not they'll extend that date. I saw that we have 3 cases here and another in Seminole County. The Florida numbers jumped up since they're now including results from private labs. Good move not to look at your investments and yes, it is depressing. That's a tough situation with the MG events and sure makes things more complicated. How soon are the events? I'm guessing anything in the next few weeks might have to be cancelled. Some of the churches have suspended services for now and I'm guessing a lot more will do so. Chele, thanks for the start. There were plenty of paper towels and tissue in the store near me too. You would think tissue would be in high demand. The toilet paper thing is almost comical, but I'm sure there are people who are really out and need it. The other thing they were out of in my store was baking potatoes. I guess that makes some sense since they last awhile. You have a turkey store? We don't have any specialty stores like that around. I don't have a large freezer, so no room for things like bread. I'm not a big bread eater anyway, but I bought some extra saltines and crispbread and that will have to do if I can't get bread. Amish canned peaches sound much better than the Dole fruit cups I bought! They had a segment on the news about tourists coming into the airport yesterday with plans to go to Disney. There are a lot of natural things to do here like go to the beach or springs, but I'm sure the small kids are very disappointed. The visitor center at the space center just announced it will be closed too. Glad that DN and the baby are doing well. I had some good news on my DN. He has a job with a large company at the space center! I don't have many details yet.
Linda, lol on Bob risking homicide. I was glad to get my shopping done before the weekend since I think it's going to be crazy out there.
Liz, I hope the stores aren't too crazy when you go. I was pleasantly surprised yesterday that it wasn't too bad. There were lots of spaces in the parking lot and no line to check out. Some guy was right behind me in the yogurt aisle and started coughing. Ugh! The store frenzy is reminding me of stocking up before Dorian last year. Then Dorian didn't come for days and days and everyone had to stock up again. The stores had calmed down by then, but were low on some supplies.
Becky, hope you're doing well.

Itās snowing here! We were just getting used to spring. Outdoor plans changed. Kathy, congrats to DN and his new job with the company at the space center. Will his start be delayed die to space center closure? I hope the kids can be distracted from their disappointment by fun in the sun. Bowman Landis is a turkey farm and they have a retail store with turkey plus other fresh meats as well as a deli counter. They also stock Amish goods. Fortunately, there was no pie. Iggy was disappointed about that. Linda, I am laughing about your homicidal tendencies. I never thought about dish washer tablets but I did buy extra dish detergent. Bob and I would have a garage filled with stuff it would take a year to use. Becky, how is it going? Liz, did the stores have anything left? Did you get home at a decent hour?

Chele, wow on the snow! The space center isn't closing, but the tours open to the public through the visitor's center have closed. I don't know yet if they will delay his start date. I'm guessing they may want people working from home as much as possible, so we'll see what they decide. Poor Iggy! No pie for Pi Day here either. My DM is pretty well stocked, but nowhere near as much as my dad used to be. He had shelves full of paper and other products in the garage.

Amazing on the snow, Chele!! We're almost 60 degrees here, so I'm surprised you aren't at least above 50. Are you supposed to get an accumulation? Glad things are going well for DN and company. Hope the BP was just one of those flukey things. Good that you were able to get what you needed at the turkey store, and you weren't even close to the per person limit on ground beef, so that left a lot for others. There have been several photos of local store shelves on FB and all I can say is OMG!! We're up to 32 cases in TN and they aren't saying how many are travel related or if there are some community transmission as well. Still can't figure out how WV is still at zero, but they did have 5 pending last I heard. Linda, let us know if you need bail money. Did you hear me burst out laughing when I read about the dishwasher tablets? Like Chele, I did get an extra bottle of the stuff we use, but it was a couple of weeks ago and was on sale, so just a coincidence. I agree about the helplessness and insecurity of the situation. So we hoard food and TP. It's good that the UK and Ireland were added to the travel ban, so it's just not non-white people. POTUS announced at the news conference that he did get tested. I wonder if he tests positive if 1) he'll admit that he has it, and 2) if anything will change. When he's on TV, we usually mute the volume. Kathy, I think Dollywood was going to open until the other amusement parks around the country announced they were closing and also that we started having some local cases. Congrats to DN on the job. I was also wondering if there would be a delay before he can start. At least TP doesn't have an expiration date, as long as you keep it dry. I got an email from Big Lots claiming to be well stocked on cleaning supplies. Wonder how long that will last. Watch the % of alcohol in rubbing alcohol if you buy some. I saw some online that was 50% and in order to be effective, it has to be at least 60% and the closer you can get to 100% is better.

So today was stay home and relax, right? DH hit his glasses with lid of the bin , bent frame and we had to go to Costco optical for a fix...yikes. Costco full and nobody let in, line around side to the back, not as long really because people took carts with them. As i was asking the guy...what if you just need optical, they opened up again and we jumped the line to fix the glasses. Looked normal inside as I waited except lots of small water bottles and diapers today plus the usual stuff.
A guy also waiting said they tried to get his glasses as Costco opened , but line went all the way around the back of the building to grab the toilet paper. They really should not let people buy four of those big things at once. He said Walmarts are worse...
The whole thing is bizarre. We escaped with fixed glasses.
There are three cases of virus in the whole county that includes the tenth largest city the country. I try to get stuff done before that changes. So I will keep my annual check up with primary Tuesday and get that behind me. My art classes at senior center are cancelled.
Lots of people out running by themselves or with friend, also biking. Exercise without going to gym.

Linda, it truly is bizarre. We're supposed to be doing social distancing, but half the country is standing in line for TP! Glad they let you skip the line for the glasses.
Karen, I just saw that Publix will be closing their stores at 8pm to allow for more time to sanitize and restock. You probably don't go in that late anyway. I used to sometimes after I'd been working late.

I'm sorry I haven't checked in much but between home health and being so tired I just run out of time.
Karen I believe there are 3 people in Austin who have tested positive and one in Manor but none in Elgin. The shelves in the grocery stores are bare though.I haven't been going along but poor Kenneth has had to call a lot during his trips for grocery shopping.I don't go back until 3/25.Oh through all the time in the hospital and now when home health takes my BP it has been normal.I guess it was mostly the stress.
Chele I'm glad DN and baby are doing well.
Linda I'm getting a little better every day.I had a new home health aid here this morning that hadn't been out here before and she introduced me to new exercises that my leg wasn't used to and I have been sore. The good news is they have said I am already 4 weeks ahead of where most people are at this point in their recovery.I can't do anything without my walker but that's okay with me for now.How is Bob doing?
Wow on the snow.We have been in the upper 80's the last 2 days here.Good days to be in with the AC blowing.
Kathy HEB is doing the same thing here.Closing at 8 and opening up at 8 when they normally open at 6 to do the restocking and cleaning.

Becky, great news on your recovery. All that persistent walking is paying off. I am sure you are sore. I am glad things are going well.
Liz, I hope all your errands are done and you can stay home today. How is Gary handling āsocial distancingā on the weekend? I donāt think Iggy will handle it very well. He has a low āboredomā threshold.
Kathy, Good to know space center work will go on. They have closed down the US Air Force Museum here for a few weeks. Iggy is waiting to hear if they are closing down the bldg he works in. He can get email but so far has been unable to hook into the software system from home.
Karen, we have snow on the flowerbeds and lawn bit the sidewalks and streets were warm enough to melt the snow. If you find away to keep the starlings away let me know, otherwise I am going to have to get Elmer Fudd all riled up.
Linda, I am happy Costco let you go in since all you needed was the optical department. We were going to go to the bank on our way home but the parking lot was full and the drive through had about 20 cars.
I forgot my list when I went to Meijer and got so frazzled I couldnāt remember everything on it. I forgot to get fresh mushrooms, zucchini and spinach, so I guess Iāll be Krogering tomorrow. I hope the frenzy has died down.
