Good morning.
This thread is for anyone that has been away from healthy eating, had a gain and is recommitting. We accept all forms of healthy eating here, whatever that means to you. We touch base daily for accountability and to encourage one another. This is a judgment free zone.
We all struggle to get the weight off and keep it off. Sometimes this is a challenge, but we never give up and that is the key. Regardless of our situation or where we are in reaching our goal, we count on talking to each other every day and are blessed to have one another as friends.
Feel free to jump in and join us. All are welcome here.
Our motto is persistence, not perfection.

Good morning. I've been up since 5:30, yet another smoke detector in my house went off. For no reason. I finally completely dismantled the thing but now have a massive headache and my heartbeat still hasn't returned to normal 3 hours later. I'm not plugging this one back in, will buy one of those ones you just stick on the wall. I can't go through this again and climbing on chairs in the pitch dark is not going to be good for my health. Wow, am I ever grumpy, but it was the one day I could sleep in and the alarm woke me from a sound sleep. Rant over.
Am going to the gym shortly. Need to do something with my anxiety and I know it won't be crowded. I'll wipe everything down before and after. Susie, is your gym closed? I wouldn't take a class right now but I'm thinking that for now being on an elliptical won't put me in much danger, but maybe a I delude myself.
No plans for today, of course, just some cooking. I wonder how many people will turn up for work tomorrow with all the schools now closed. Plus we're in the process of scheduling a hearing downtown at the EEOC because of a staff member who filed a discrimination complaint. I really, really don't want to have to take public transportation right now...
I started watching a new/old series last night, Call the Midwife, a BBC production. Enjoyed it but we had to put subtitles on because it was hard to understand a lot of the dialogue. What did George Bernard Shaw say, we're two nations divided by a common language... Hahaha.
Hope everyone has a good day in this new world we're living in. Jana, my anxiety blob is getting quite a workout.

Hi! I've had some coffee, so the cobwebs are a little less dense now. OH...guess what? Dang it, how'd you know? Yep....pouring rain. Maybe mother nature will finally get all of this rain out of her system while we're hanging close to the house anyway, and then in a couple of weeks we can move on to a nice spring. A girl can hope, right?
Susie - So now we have the answer to the age old question: What does it take to slow Susie down? Answer: A Pandemic. Hope you find your weights, and I'm guessing you'll have some reading planned for later? Last night I downloaded 2 ebooks onto my kindle from my library. I started the first one and 2 chapters in realized that I'd already read it. Ha! I guess I'll start the other one sometime today, and maybe go in search of some more later.

Hi Everyone, Planning on going to the gym for a bit. Will just do the recumbent bike and maybe a few pieces of equipment that I dont have to actually touch much but will definitely wash my hands after anyways. Then shopping for me and my friend provided that there is actually anything to get. I think that at least some of the things will be available but I shall see I guess. Then continue to clear off the clutter of of my living room table and maybe start on some stuff in either in my den from the desk or the desk in my bedroom. Looking at it tho wants to procrastinate but at the same time it bothers me to look at it if that makes any sense. Have a great day!

Good morning,
Thanks for starting us, Lora. What a great thing you did for your family! So helpful to keep them home and as safe as possible. I totally agree with your advice to wipe everything as they put it away. An abundance of caution for those most at risk is never bad. And that extra good deed of paying for it is so thoughtful. I think people are really trying to help whenever they can. It sounds like you have developed a much better relationship with DF these days. I hope so. How is he doing with his health?
Susie, the free weights and walking sound like a good plan, since the gym is closed. Does your DH do any of his therapy at home? I don't know the situation, but is it best for him to avoid going to neurofit? Your time in the sun sounded so relaxing! At this time of year, I just crave being outside! It is really cloudy and gloomy here this morning, but supposedly the day will turn out sunny later.
Janet, I also like the feel of a book in my hands, and turning the pages...I spend so much time looking at computers that I don't enjoy reading a book on one. I do have some good ones downloaded, but just haven't read them yet.
Robin, April 23rd sounds so far away when you are waiting for a baby! I did work yesterday, and we only had one call. It went out as trouble breathing, so we went in with caution, but it was a different issue after all, so no risk of exposure. We have all been issued special fanny packs with protective gowns, masks, goggles, and hand wipes, and we have ever evolving guidelines as we go along. My partner and I had to be fit-tested yesterday for specially fitted masks that we carry in our fanny packs. There is just not going to be any way that we aren't going to eventually be exposed to this, and since it can be spread while the person is without symptoms, we have little way of really knowing if someone has it, right there on the spot. And we have to go into people's homes.... I just feel sorry for people who can't afford to isolate themselves, and will miss their paychecks. I feel like I have a certain amount of job security. No big plans today. For now I am just drinking some really good coffee and watching a little morning news. I do need to get the dryer vent cleaned today, because they are bringing my new dryer on Tuesday. I didn't want to leave my dryer sitting out for long, but I don't want to wait for Tuesday because they might come first thing in the morning, and tomorrow is my long day at work. Other than that, I am just going to do a little cleaning. I sure hope everyone is having a good weekend, and you get some sunshine in your day. Waving to all, I'll bbl.

Andi - I've watched the entire "Call the Midwife" series. I really enjoyed it. My town closed down my little fitness center for the duration. They said that they'll extend all monthly memberships by the number of days they stay closed. So while we're not gaining anything, we're not losing anything either. It's not generally a crowded place, but I'm sure they are thinking about sanitation and risk, although sani-wipes, as well as spray disinfectant are readily available. But with the reports of how long these microbes can survive on surfaces, I suppose that just don't want to take the risk, as many of the members there are from the older set.

Robin - I'm really not sure the relationship with my father is much improved at all really, he is still speaks to me very surly and often accusatory to me. I'm just continuing to try to do the right thing. I don't want to have any regrets in the end. I've come to realize that any negative behavior from him or his wife says far more about them than it does about me. If I just don't react, then they have nothing to feed on. The last I spoke to him, he seems to be doing ok. They will do another scope of the kidney on March 31st. So nothing new will be know until them. Yay for just one call yesterday! And that it wasn't a virus connected incident. I have a great appreciation for all of those in public service fields and retail (grocery, drug stores, etc) who are continuing to do their jobs to provide for the rest of the community. Are you excited about the new dryer? I get almost giddy when a new appliance is coming. I know, I'm kind of a weirdo about stuff like that. Ha!

It seems like lots of us were posting at the same time...
Andi, I HATE when I get a rare morning to sleep in, and something disrupts it. I hope you are able to get rid of the headache. Good luck at the gym. Maybe it will be pretty quiet in there. Wiping down everything before and after should be sufficient. What are you planning on cooking today? I sure hope the rest of your day goes well, and you enjoy your down time.

Ha Ha....laughing at your comment Lora about what it takes to slow me down. Hey, next question: What does it take to get the ROs talking as much as we used to?
Andi - YES, both my clubhouse gym AND the big gym complex with pools, classes, etc are closed! Even my neighbors taking walks are staying at least 6 ft away from one another. I found my weights. Darn...sorry about that crazy smoke alarm...since you have others in the house, I say yes, take it down.
Janet - good that you can still use your gym...taking the time to de-clutter will make you feel great (or at least give you a feeling of accomplishment)!
RobinMD -I know you enjoyed a day that is not too busy. Glad the new dryer is coming... I guess you have put off cleaning that vent for as long as you can...is there any chance they would do it for you when they bring the new dryer?
RobinS - I think it is a good idea to get some baby things early just to be prepared in case the baby comes early....you just never know...they have a mind of their own - lol!
It is pretty chilly here - hope Jana is getting plenty of reading done at the beach.

Call the Midwife, haven't seen that series, but with some of the stories that I have been hearing, about the possibility of hospitals being so crowded that women will be having babies in parking lots, I was thinking that I wish she had a midwife. DS & DDIL got almost everything ordered from Amazon and Buy Buy Baby. They wanted a particular hand sanitizer, that wasn't available on Amazon, but I found that they can order it from Target. I am sure they can come up with $35 to buy from them to get free shipping. They are in Boston right now, and she is really feeling uncomfortable. Big surprise, I don't know what they thought. They are driving back this afternoon.
RobinMD, glad things were quiet for you yesterday, and they are getting you prepared. Definitely better for you to get that dryer vent cleaned today.
Janet, I was kind of surprised that they didn't close your library already, when you said you went yesterday.
Lora, good that you should have in your mind that it is not about you, it is about your father, or more likely, his wife.
Andi, I have a friend who works as a drug and alcohol counselor, but now is unemployed, and I was thinking that I would bet that this is something that will be more needed right now. This is the kind of situation that could make people backtrack. Normal people are feeling more stressed.
Our County Executive just announced that schools are closed for the next 2 weeks.

OK...stupid question.... I am setting up my Insta Pot and it says to "Pull the sealing ring out and then install it." There is a clear silicone sealing ring in place on the lid. I took it off. THere is a red sealing ring that came with the pot....so I re-insert the clear one or switch it and insert the red one in the lid???
If I re-insert the clear one, what is the red one for?

Susie - Lucky yours came with 2 rings, that's fantastic. Mine only came with one. Sometimes those rings will hold on to smell, even after they've been cleaned. So people will designate one for savory cooking and one for sweet cooking. Those rings are the same except for color, it's just a way to identify which is which for your own purposes.
Hope this helps!
