Day 25 – Identify Sabotaging Thoughts
Take some time and make a list of sabotaging thoughts you have had about staying on plan. There is a list of them on page 193 of the book. Here are a few of them:
I don’t care.
I’m not going to let anyone tell me what I can and can’t eat.
I deserve to eat this.
I’m really hungry.
I have no willpower.
I’ll make up for it later.
I’m treating myself.
I’ll end up eating it eventually.
Share the sabotaging thoughts you’ve had about staying on plan.

My big one is: I've gotten away with this before I'll get away with it this time. Or, I don't want to do the mental work to figure out how to eat on plan when I go out to a restaurant.

I had the vision of the trip to Scotland looming big to be ready for by July...then covid-19 arrived. At least one of the conferences inspiring the trip with my daughter was cancelled so perhaps half my momentum went with covid and the conference cancellation.
So...that would be #1 - corona virus so why bother?
Others:
* who will see me if I am home in pajamas and in quarantine-like times * why diet when the world is such a mess * I have more trouble getting in the veggies when we can't go shopping so ghg's are a thing of the past * Etcetera
I still have my journal out and always write in breakfast...it is the rest of the day that is not so accurately tracked.

Sometimes my sabotaging thoughts feel so automatic, I’m almost not really aware of them. For unplanned eating or drinking I fall into:
a little won’t hurt I deserve this carbs make me feel better I’ll try again tomorrow and It’s a global pandemic, why bother!
But there’s an opportunity to come out healthier than heavier!

My thoughts in order of frequency are: I have to eat more to get to my blue dot 🔵 minimum. I still have points left that I can use! I’ll do a longer workout tomorrow. My clothes still fit so it wasn’t that bad, I’ll lose the weight by the time that event comes up, next summer, next year....

But I'm trying to walk daily and it seems a better cardio workout than my gym routine so that's been an eye opener...we'll see tomorrow at WI!
