Day 36 – Believe It!
To me this is a fun day because we come to terms with the idea that we have done “it” and are continuing to do “it.” (“it” successfully managing our weight)
Beck points out to us that since we have started the review we have gained/brushed up on critical skills we didn’t have beforeand learned how to use them consistently to be successful. She wants you to make a response card listing what you now know that has made you successful.
List your favorite skills you’ve learned from the book.
Think back on how much less you do behaviors that can lead you astray, such as fooling yourself, not sitting down to eat, eating mindlessly, eating too fast, and so on.
What habits that would lead you astray have you changed or improved because of the review?

One thing I learned was to not keep sweets in the house. I now keep the food I need in the house, I plan ahead, I think things through, and I talk back to some of my sabotaging thoughts.

I am not sure BUT I don't have sweets in the house - could make them if I wanted them badly enough but rarely if ever do. I tend to think before eating so am aware and if I choose to go off the rails it is an informed decision. I am working on balanced plates with protein, carb, fruit/veg and a bit of oil at each meal...working in 2 dairy or more a day. I am a work in progress making progress.
NOTE: Scale is up today - knew it would be - today is a new day.

I think the biggest skill is learning to recognize emotional eating before it happens. I can label it for what it is, an unhelpful response to a stressor, and envision the consequences which I won't like, and not fall for my old habit.

My biggest nugget so far is learning to be able to handle being on vacation without bringing back home unwanted pounds. Even when I do have a gain I am able to get right back on track and lose them once I get home.
The second thing I learned is that I'll believe anything I tell myself so I have to be as honest as possible when I can't measure my portions or I don't know all of the ingredients in a dish when we're eating out.
I'm learning to leave food on my plate even if it's healthy, zero points, or a planned indulgence. That's a big deal for me.
