Good morning.

We all struggle to get the weight off and keep it off. Sometimes this is a challenge, but we never give up and that is the key. Regardless of our situation or where we are in reaching our goal, we count on talking to each other every day and are blessed to have one another as friends.
Feel free to jump in and join us. All are welcome here.

Good morning everyone and Happy Sunday!
Yesterday was kind of cloudy and blah most of the day, but this morning looks to be sunny and clear. I'm sitting in the den and hear about 6 different birds outside singing their songs. I'm actually kind of looking forward to mowing later. It will be nice to spend a couple of hours outside. We're still having a lot of pollen here, so I'll pay for that later this evening with super itchy eyes, but I'll worry about that later. Thinking of that later is not going to ruin the lovely of the right now.
Jana - your Poppy Field was beautiful. Did you paint that on paper> or was it Markers or what? It was so bright and happy looking. Also....I'm not a flower expert by any means, so if that wasn't poppies, that's a statement to my knowledge, not your painting talent. haha!
Dinner last night was delicious! The loin chops were thick cut, came out tender and juicy, and I did end up doing the fried cabbage w/bacon and it was so dang good. Makes me wish I'd picked up 2 heads of cabbage when I shopped. I'll have to remember to do so next time. I'd purchased a pork loin, and I took that and sliced it into individual thick chops for us. It was $12.00 for the loin, and I got 8 thick chops out of it, so 4 meals worth. Yay me! Haha.
Well, it's coffee time around so I'll stop back by later. I hope everyone has a wonderful day. I can't wait to see if I have anymore hummers yet, of it's just the one that has arrived home so far.

Good morning, all,
Lora, how fun that the hummers are back! I will start putting my "juice" out in the last week of April, for the May 1st arrival. I love it. I'm so happy that the sun is out and I will be able to mow today. I am looking forward to being outside, too. I am kind of tired this morning, so I will concentrate on the riding mowing today, a little push mowing around the house, and I HAVE to weed whack all the MonkeyGrass down. I have so much to do, but I will focus on getting the grass cut and go from there.... I did see that the governor finally gave the order to stay home. I am glad you are well ahead of the game up there on the mountain!
Susie, there are some mornings when I just LOVE to be able to let myself just roll back over and snooze a little more! I hope you have pretty weather today. It is a little bit cool here, but gorgeous. My spring bulbs are up, my Red Buds are blooming, and the Dogwood is close to popping out. I love spring on the east coast. What a great help that was, to cut out so many masks...people are sure pitching in to do whatever they can, and it is so important! Jana, loved the paintings and drawings! I think you are wise to look into getting some masks for yourselves. It couldn't hurt. Janet, grrr….so much frustration with the time card! You are so right, this is your pay, and you are still working your tail off, and you should definitely go on and bug her! Sorry for all the little issues, that add up to be a big pain!
Yesterday was good. We had our first call 15 minutes into the shift, and we had a couple more through the day, but no sick people. We still wore full PPE for everyone, and took every precaution. We now have to have our temperatures taken before we come into the station at shift change, and again when leaving the station at the end of shift. I had a young, brand new paramedic with me yesterday. The chief hired her right out of class, and told me he almost didn't hire her because she was new. I told him that I was a brand new medic 20 years ago, and the chief at that time hired me, and gave me a chance that started a long career. I was always grateful, and I told my current chief that everyone is new at some point, and we all learn the job by doing the job, if that makes sense. She will be fine, but I had to settle her down a little on the first call, and she was fine after that. She is not cleared yet to do medic skills, but she can still do a lot of hands on things, and participating in the care of the patient teaches her a lot, without her being responsible for the outcome of the call. I must say though, I am very frustrated with people in that community, out in the middle of nowhere, who don't believe that they will really be affected by this pandemic. On my way home last night, I passed a restaurant that had a full parking lot, and people waiting to get in....they were all crammed in there like nothing was different. That place has never been very busy in normal times, but now people can't get in there fast enough. This area will take a big hit, in my opinion. Hagerstown is an old city, and there are a lot of very poor people and a lot of drugs. We have a lot of dealers that come from New York, Philadelphia, D.C. and who knows where else. This virus is going to catch the majority of the non-believers, by surprise, and it will be bad. Out in Clear Spring where I work, most people were farmers and laborers, and they were smokers who now have COPD, heart problems, and other health problems. With a lot of younger people leaving the area to work elsewhere, it is an older population, too. I run a lot of cardiac and respiratory calls out there. It is not going to be good, and I fear it is too late to start being careful, for a lot of these people. And with their ignorance, or reluctance to believe, they contribute to putting themselves, and everyone around them at great risk. Well, I am going to get a bit more coffee and let the grass dry a while longer, and then get on out there and get on the tractor! I will bbl. I hope everyone has a really good day, and good weather to enjoy. Waving to all to follow!

Hi Everyone, Yesterday started trying to do something with the clutter on and in my desk in the den. Got a good start on it and threw a lot of papers/ receipts, etc that I know I dont need and if there were a need ever I could look online through various portals but I doubt that I need it and its one less piece of paper on my desk to sort through to find it. After that I vacuumed and did a bit of cleaning. Need to do some more really. I will be going out in a bit to shop for my friend and get a few things I need. I was looking for some granola cereal that I had but must have finished. In searching for that I discovered that I have plenty of croutons. Lol! The bags that were opened got pushed back some towards the back of the cabinet. I dont know if I mentioned this or not without having to read back but my friend's husband was moved to a rehab center and now off of a ventilator. He is receiving oxygen. At least that was the status the last time I spoke to her so hopefully the same or better. Lora, glad that you saw the first hummingbird. Are there ususally one or do more come as well? Robin Md, my friend that I shop for and has her husband in the hodpital doesnt seem real concerned about me coming into her apartment but I am keeping my distance from her. She is more at risk from me giving it to her. She rarely goes outside. My sister doesnt even want me to go inside but she has a very difficult time walking around and using her hands and fingers due to numbness. I still dont know how she manages to smoke and I worry that she will drop the lit cigsrette on something flamable and not be able to pick it up in time to prevent a fire. What are plans if any to celebrate either Easter or Passover? Just wondering, has anyone heard lately from Amanda? Have a great day!

Hello!
I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this question but I hope so:
Two years ago I joined WW and subsequently lost ~55lbs in about 10 months. Then I had the stress of moving to another state between the packing, planning, moving, unpacking, etc. Then I got pregnant and had a miscarriage. Then I got pregnant again. I’m now almost 2 1/2 months post partum and ready to lose everything I gained. I’m essentially back to where I was when I started this journey 2 years ago. I re-joined WW this morning with the plan to start fresh tomorrow morning. A lot has changed since I was last a member (Green? Blue? Purple?) and don’t know where to start. So my question is this, how do I know which color open really truly is best for me. I can see that blue is what I had before and obviously did really well. The app is recommending I go on the purple plan but I’m sort of in the mindset, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Is that wrong?
Thanks!

And with their ignorance, or reluctance to believe, they contribute to putting themselves, and everyone around them at great risk. Please do not stereotype or stigmatize people by their geography. As late as March 2nd, the Mayor of NYC was urging New Yorkers to "go on with your lives and get out on the town despite Coronavirus." That's a direct quote of what he tweeted out. March 10th he said this on national television: "Life is going on pretty normally here and we want to encourage that." Does that make New Yorkers ignorant, or reluctant to believe, or -- as you are implying -- responsible for the illness of themselves or others? Has their decision to "go on with their lives and get out on the town" as late as mid-March endangered people throughout the country? Please, this is not the time. Thank you.

Chris,
Whoever you are, this is not facebook and you do not know me. The people on this thread have known me for years. They know my heart and they know where I come from, and who I am.
Having said that..... You missed the point (mostly because you do not know me, as I said). My interest in the community in which I have been a career Paramedic for 20 years, is that they have co-morbidities that put them at great risk with this virus. I love these people and have known them and their families, and now their children, for 20 years. It matters to me, because I know that with this virus it is not a matter of when, it is a matter of how bad you will get it. That is not fear-mongering, by the way. I know that some people will not know they've had it, some will have mild symptoms, and some will die within 5 days of being healthy, or at the least be in our ICU on a ventilator, fighting for their lives. I fear for this community, because they believe they are insulated from the spread of it. Your ignorant accusation that I am stereotyping a group of people is wrong and presumptive. This is the perfect time to fear for my friends, and do anything I can to keep them safe. And I am doing a lot.
All are welcome here to talk about weight issues, get ideas, share suggestions, and become acquainted with a great group of ladies that are a special part of my circle of friends. Feel free to do that. Do not, however, bring your judgement here, or your desire to inflame or stir up a pot of poo. We don't do that here.
Thanks.

Hi to imalwaysme! This is a great place for you to ask. I am not as familiar with the plan these days, but Susie probably is current on the different color plans. We also have some great cooks here, with lots of ideas and tips for healthy eating. What is different between the purple and blue plans? I wonder what criteria WW uses to suggest one group over another...
I am currently struggling with my eating, due to time demands and difficulty being consistent with eating times, and time necessary to make healthier meals. I am eating on the go a lot, and availability of kitchens and cooking can also be a problem! They are excuses, so I am trying to do better all the time. But like the name says, we are all Repeat Offenders! We make the effort, and never really give up trying to be as healthy as we can, and feeling good by eating well. I hope you get some good advice on choosing a plan that will work well for you.

Hello Everyone... I slept in a little, and then DH and I watched our church service online. I know they are having a difficult time doing it as they can only have 10 people in the building and they want to have music and have to have tech people for the live streaming. Anyway, it was a different Palm Sunday. I did some cooking, and went for a walk. We sat outside and read for awhile - beautiful, beautiful day!
RobinMD - so glad you responded because when I came online, I was taken aback by the previous comments. The regular ROs know that you deeply care about your community and risk your life each time you go out to help them.
ImAlwaysMe - Welcome! If you check out the differences in the color of the plans, you will see that the only real difference is how many things are FREE foods and the points that makes available to you. I agree with you...whatever worked for you before will work again. I have not followed any of the plans strictly anymore, but have managed to pretty much stay within my 2 lbs of goal weight. I still try to WI each month (not now of course, but I will be back to my meeting location when we are allowed to congregate again). Blue is the one that I think is more practical for me, so when I go online that is what appears as my plan. Good for you for coming back. Like RobinMD said, we are all repeat offenders and you will find good advice here. Several of the ROs are working totally different eating programs, and that makes this a great site for information and support!
Jana - The "Stitch Therapy" group in my neighborhood is making the masks for nurses, fire stations, first responders. They also just opened up requests from within the neighborhood. Have you seen any of the online directions? I am amazed that there is even one you can make using cloth napkins and rubber bands! A friend of my went out the other day with a bandanna tied over her face. I think the key is to have some sort of covering for when you are in a grocery store or somewhere around other people.
Janet - I hope your DF's husband continues to improve. Do you try to shop during specific "senior at at risk" times? I think that is helpful. I have not worn a mask out yet, but the next time I shop, I definitely will. I am going to have to go to the grocery store in the next day or two. I really need to run my car also!
I made soup today...it almost seems crazy as nice as it is outside. Hope DH doesn't get used to me doing all this cooking. I will be ready to go to a restaurant again as soon as it is safe to do so. We face-timed DD in Boston last night. She and DBF (who is staying with her while he is there from CA). They were working on a 1000 piece puzzle. I am so glad neither one of them is alone at this time and that his company has been so accomodating in allowing him to work AT HOME in Boston rather than AT HOME in California!
OK...off to read some more or work on MY puzzle - ha!

Hi again, I did my shopping for me and my friend. I should have looked at my list on my phone as I missed a few things one being eggs. Normally I dont use too many eggs but since I am home I have been using more. I thought I picked boxes of Kellogs Raisin Bran. The boxes look the same. My friend will not eat them so will have to go exchange them. I bought the eggs at a store I go to on occaision as it was on my way home. My timesheet is finally done!! I was looking to see if she did it or fixed it. She may have done it earlier but since I was busy hadnt looked at it. Before going to the other store I did it in the car while in park. I dont why it was so difficult to change it but none of us could make the necessary change. Maybe she was having difficulty too. My friend's husband is back in the ICU again as he was having respitory issues again. I dont know what the future looks like but right now not too good it seems. As she doesnt go to sleep until late and wakes up late the early shopping is too early for her even tho it is me who does the shopping for her. Have a restful evening and sleep.

Hi all, Lora, so glad you enjoyed your chops, I do have to say, although I won't eat it on Passover, I have succumbed to eating pork for 2 reasons, one is that when all protein was points, lean pork was relatively low, and also it always is very inexpensive. Great deal on the 4 meals for $12.
RobinMD, glad that your work has been OK so far, but I agree with you on those people. That is a problem. Although Chris really knows very little about what is going on in NYC, Bill deBlasio, who no one is a big fan of, changed his tune very quickly. He is not the problem in this country.
Chris, as of March 12th, first 50% of workers were told to work from home to allow social distancing. I know the date because my son told his company, "my wife is pregnant and I am working from home"! by March 20th, all workers left offices, and everything except for essential businesses had to close by the 22nd, however most restaurants only were doing take-out and delivery from about the 14th I think. I live on Long Island, and what RobinMD is telling you is absolutely correct when you look on our chart of which town has the most cases. The only thing she doesn't tell you is that the Orthodox Jewish communities are very bad also. It is very tied to socioeconomics. I will admit that Long Island is very segregated. The more upscale communities have less cases of the virus. Other than Staten Island, which no one counts, Manhattan has the lowest number of cases of the 5 boroughs, also a combination of socioeconomic class and fewer undocumented who live in closer quarters. It might not be the most politically correct thing to say, but it is a fact.
Imal, I don't have time to answer your questions now, but might be able to help a bit. Congratulations on having the baby, keep yourself healthy, things will work out. I am sorry for your previous losses, I know they will always be in your thoughts too.
We are all volunteer fire departments here, and I am waiting for 7:00. All the departments in Nassau and Suffolk counties are sounding their alarms to honor the healthcare workers.

Good evening everyone.
Lora it was poppy flowers in the picture. I have a large pad of paper that states mixed media on it. I painted it in the pad. The paper is very thick so the paint does not go through the paper. However I have discovered I do not like painting on paper. it is very different than canvas. I did order some canvas from Amazon and should have it by the end of the week. The doodling helps me stay occupied and keeps me from eating.
Unfortunately my Pops has decided that me wanting to draw, color, and paint is funny to him and I am getting some what he thinks is funny sarcastic remarks. He has been this way his entire life. He thinks he is being funny but he is actually being very hurtful. It is one of the reasons my DD has limited contact with him. We have tried over the years to explain it to him - but he doesn't really want to hear it -or maybe he just doesn't care- I would like to think he does care - I don't know. I am ready to take a break from him for a day or 2 but it is hard right now.
Susie I did see a video using Lula Rue leggings to make masks. I am sure I have some sort of leggings there I could use.
RobinMD - I want to tell you I understood your post fine. I am sorry that someone felt the need to question you. You do a great job and are on the front lines of this virus, more than any of the rest of us. I appreciate all that you do.
Friday night we heard a honk and some good friends of ours were in their vehicle in front of our house, on the street. I walked out on the porch and waved and had a brief conversation with them. It felt so good to see part of our circle.
Today is the birthday of another friend. DH wanted to run and get dog food so we stopped in front of our friend's house, called him and asked him to come to the door and sang Happy Birthday to him from the car. Both instances we were way more than 6 ft apart, boy it was good to see friends.
Waving to all! I hope you have had a great weekend. Our weather today has been beautiful and it is supposed to be getter this week.

To "Chris"
I don't know you and clearly you know absolutely nothing about us. We are a diverse group of different religions, different ages and we come from a variety of backgrounds. The one thing that we all have in common is that we treat each other with respect and kindness.
Perhaps you didn't read our intro or perhaps you chose to ignore it, but the 4th sentence clearly says "This is a judgment free zone." If you cannot follow that one simple rule, please scroll right past our group in the future. Thank you.

Janet - last year we had about a dozen hummingbirds of 3 different varieties. They are fascinating to watch. So glad to hear they got the correction made to your time sheet. What a relief.
Jana - Aww girl. My father and my maternal grandfather were very rude, dismissive of me on many occasions when I was a kid. They would laugh like it was just the funniest thing, but it hurt. I'm so sorry you have to deal with that. I hope you will continue to paint. I love seeing your work and look forward to seeing more. I know how relaxing and therapeutic painting can be. (((Hugs))) Also, I love the drive-by birthday greeting!
RobinMD - as always, THANK YOU for everything you do for your patients, your community and for always being here for us and answering our questions. You are our ROCK!
RobinS - Another "drive-by" greeting! How fun! It must have made your day to see a friendly face!
Susie - so glad you and DH were able to enjoy some outside time today. It was beautiful here as well!
Imalwaysme - Welcome. We're here everyday. Stop in any time.
After we mowed, edged, weed-whacked and did a little hedge trimming we sat on the patio for a bit just enjoying the quiet and the breeze. The weather was absolutely perfect here today and there were so many birds singing. It was very relaxing. Supper was simple. Bunless cheeseburgers with cucumber salad it was the perfect meal to follow a day in the sunny outdoors.
All that fresh air has worn me out. I look forward to "seeing" everyone tomorrow. I hope everybody has a restful sleep tonight. I think I will sleep like a rock!, I'm just not sure for how long. Ha!
