From Liz:
It’s been a continuing challenge these past several days including the weekend. The worst may be upon us now but it’s hard to say. The prognosticators believe we may be approaching peak or there. We are quickly turning my campus into one huge ICU. We have had a staff member pass, one that’s been intubated and many going out with symptoms.
Please send my best wishes to the gals. I miss all of you and special good healing karma to Chele for her back and Becky for her knee.
I get into work and it’s just non-stop. We’re fighting to get through each day.
I hope you’re taking good care of you!
Sending my hugs and heart to all to be safe and well!

Chele, how did you do with the grocery trip and disinfecting? That's a lot of work! Dale did a trip this morning and it wasn't even a particularly large list but cost $135!! And, we couldn't even get everything on the not-that-long list. I saw that Japan declared a state of emergency, so what's going on with DN#1? How are the back spasms? Isn't it amazing how the substites on the grocery list always cost more, Kathy? Does your comfortable weather continue? You're right about the spring breakers upping the covid numbers in other parts of the country. How were your cases today? We don't get our daily numbers until 3 pm, but our numbers were up about 300 yesterday, with a couple of additional ones locally. I was a bit surprised by who suggested having the sale in April because she was president about 5 years ago. But the person who used to head up the plant sale (and irritated a number of vendors who have chosen not to do our future sales, if that tells you anything) called me this morning and also suggested going ahead with the original date and just spreading the plants across the fairgrounds and having people drive through to pick out what they want. I don't know how we are supposed to staff something like that without having people face-to-face or keeping the number under 10. I explained that May 1 was as good as it could get. Becky you had a good workout yesterday. Did you feel like you got let off easy? Are you feeling it today? Congrats on the Charmin! Sorry about the local Covid death. Did he have underlying medical conditions that you know of? He wasn't that old. As I said above, I was surprised anyone even thought doing a sale before May 1 was even an option. Congrats on 1/2 lb loss, Linda. Hopefully it wsn't your mind. . I wonder if there is something to the TB vaccine. Do you know the name of the Japanese med that seems promising? Bet it's not hydroxychloroquine. I heard this morning that Trump is pushing that drug because his investment portfolio through Koch includes stock in the company that makes it. I also heard that a lot of prescription refills are in jeopardy right now because China hasn't ramped up production yet. I hope that won't affect anyone here. Did you get all your cleaning done yesterday so you can rest today? We have soapstone countertops in the kitchen, which are naturally resistant to bacteria, viruses, etc. That's what labs use. So I just clean them with soap and water and wax them every 6 months or so and they are good to go. Did you get your security door fixed? I was relieved to hear from Liz and hope she can stay healthy through all of this. Tree pollen here is in the very high category today, but we had a little rain, so maybe that knocked it down a little. Still feeling a little congestion. We had a rough night with Arya's allergies and she has been pretty sleepy today but itching a lot. Dale stopped at the liquor store after the grocery trip and got me a bottle of Everclear and one of vodka and it was over $80! I couldn't afford to be an alcoholic. Off to visit the treadmill and then maybe I will get the sewing machine cleaned up and figure out the best place to set it up. Hope everyone is having a good day!

Thanks for the start, Karen. We did not have a lot of groceries, mostly fresh produce, ground beef and crackers plus batteries, cotton balls and electric toothbrush refills and the bill was $140+. There were a few substitutes that were more expensive. We were not able to get fresh cilantro or romaine. Next time Iggy wants to try Meijer. I did wear a mask and a pair of winter gloves when speaking with the person who loaded the groceries. She had no PPE whatsoever. The rule of thumb here is don’t plant seedlings until after Mother’s Day. 5 people in a small boat. I wouldn’t do that in normal circumstances. Congrats on the early birthday present. I am sure you can’t wait to get into the water. Sheesh. Sounds like some of your MGs are not too concerned about the pandemic. DN remains in Japan. Stubborn as his DF. I am glad you love the Demeyere. I bought my first pot about 3 years ago and we loved it so much we added a couple of pieces as Christmas presents over the years. The cost prohibits more. Thanks for the Liz update. She must be absolutely shattered. I feel for all of them in NYC. All those people and so little protective gear and the Feds hoarding what there is. I think Gov. Dewine’s early actions has kept the count lower than it would have been but the news is still not great here. Waving to the rest of the crew. The back is better but now I am battling an ear ache and GI issues. Why do these things come in threes? I was going to write to all but the ear is getting to me. I have some drops to loosen wax, so I am hoping that is the problem and the drops will take care of it. Fingers crossed. I think the stress of our current situation has caused the nervous stomach, as we used to call it. Take care everyone.

Thanks for the start Karen.
Liz Stay healthy and safe.My heart is with you also.
Karen The spring breakers upped our count also.At first they said only 70 UT students went on the trip but 211 went. They claim they should be towards the end of the self isolation so I hope that's it.I really did feel like I was let off easy.I guess I'm getting more used to walking to the road and back. This morning I walked to the mailbox just to say I was on the road. The sun came out this afternoon with a nice breeze even though it's 87 degrees so I walked again to check the mail. It's much more enjoyable walking outside than inside although I still do plenty of that. They don't let out any info on the deaths so I don't know.Taylor reported its first case today although there have been 4 deaths in Williamson County. We are still giving Scooter allergy pills. The vet said last year to just give her Zyrtec after he had put her on a RX for itching.Zyrtec is too expensive so I get the generic for her and save the Zyrtec for me.
Chele I hope you feel better soon.I don't think our insurance is reducing our rate.We have a low rate anyway since we don't drive many miles.

Karen, thanks for the start and the update from Liz. I think the substitutes are more since I choose the items on sale and they're usually out. That especially hurts when it's a BOGO and they add two of a substitute, so double the price. I am happy to be able to get delivery though. The Florida site updates twice a day at 11:30 and 6:30pm, so the next update is coming up soon. South Florida still looks bad, but they said our peak may be April 21 instead of May 3 like they were originally forecasting. My zip code still says 5 to 9 cases. I'm doubting you'd have very many customers for the sale if you hold it in April. Liz, thanks for sending the update. The stress has to be unbelievable and I'm hoping you will be healthy and safe through this. Thinking of you. Chele, the woman that delivered my groceries had a cloth mask which I was glad to see. I think the action our mayor took to shut things earlier than the governor has helped some. I'm glad the back is better, but sorry about the other problems. There is a lot of stress right now, so take it easy. I haven't heard anything from my car insurance, but I already have a discount for low mileage. I wonder if they have one for extremely low mileage!
Becky, that's great that you're getting out to the road. We're having similar weather in the upper 80s, but with a decent breeze. I spent a little bit of time out on the porch today, but it was pretty warm.
Linda, I've been cleaning things as I use them too or getting rid of the outer packaging. I did wipe down the stuff I put in the fridge and freezer this time. That picture is too true.

Tough allergy time for people and pets!
washed blankets and dried on a retractable clothesline but then ran the dryer on air with them to get rid of some pollen . Dog is snoring!
Stayed in bed with iPAd, local news and coffee for long time today. I pruned more off that huge shrub that is loving the weather and running up into a tree! Walked Micki, did some dusting and made hot cross buns. That dough is on its first rise now.
