WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

C75D10, 4885 fitbit steps Edesia – Very controlled. When I order the spare rib combination plate, I eat every bit of it and the rice is fried. When under control, I order shrimp and broccoli but not steamed and no rice. We haven’t had Chinese food in a long time. Do you go to Chinatown for non-American Chinese food? When Ed and I were dating, we went there and I ended up with a whole bowl of Yat Gaw Mein soup in my lap. Even so, he married me <g>. Jan – I was able to walk to and fro the clubhouse this morning. Not sure of the degrees but it couldn’t have been too bad if I walked – I think 30 ish. I wish I had access to an indoor track. I looked up Fairlife skim milk. 10 fewer calories, 5 more protein grams, 10 % less calcium, and 6 fewer sugar grams than my Lactaid. Fairlife also has no lactose which matters to DH. Think I’ll try it. Beth – Where are you? ? Louise – That’s funny about the filter. Sounds like something I would do (i.e. not do) <g> Lori – OK I’ll try the Splenda. Maybe tomorrow. If it doesn’t do the trick, I’ll have it with ½ cup lite ice cream.

Morning, BFF's! Yesterday turned into a somewhat chaotic day because of another crisis in my mom's life. We (DH, sisters, DBIL) spent the day figuring out what to do in the short and long term. Sorry for the vague posting, but if I don't check in regularly for a few days, that is the reason. On a positive note, I have not felt the desire to eat unhealthy...yet. Hope you are all doing well. Hey, the days will start getting longer now!!!
Nancy - My original plan was to have some rotisserie chicken I had in the house along with the egg roll. I just gave up on the whole plan. Luckily, DH agreed to share. We like to eat various kinds of regional Chinese in Flushing, not Chinatown. Incredibly varied food and nothing like American Chinese.
Louise - Good thing you got the heater filter taken care of. Even though it was stressful, it's better that it happened when you were home and not at DM's. I can't answer your question about milk because I don't drink milk.

Hi folks, sorry to be MIA. Mom got admitted to hospital Monday morning and I was with her overnight in the ER monday into Tuesday. She's okay. They've diagnosed her with Afib, congestive heart failure and an enlarged heart. They've been figuring out the best meds (including blood thinner...I guess afib puts you at risk to throw blood clots). They're hoping to get her home on Friday. She seems in pretty good spirits. I'm going back there after work today.
eating has been ok. threw leftovers in my cooler before heading to ER on Monday so I had meals to heat up in hospital cafeteria. Couldn't get on my wifi at the hospital...my kindle AND my cell phone were acting quite possessed while I was there! Maybe it will be better now that she's actually in a room on a real floor and off the ER.
dad & brother were with her yesterday so I was able to catch up on sleep and even managed to get to pickleball last night.
Still reading Intuitive Eating. It's smart stuff. I feel like I'm already on board with most of the thinking but am appreciating the insights into "hidden" or "unconscious" dieting. I also really like the explanation of the "voices", particularly the "rebel" one.
Did I mention that we're dog-sitting (she's no longer a puppy!) over Christmas weekend? She's coming Friday and leaving Wednesday. Looking forward to her furry loving presence (and hoping for NON-RAINY weather!)
'kay...gotta get caught up on some work here!
take care everybody.

I'm tired tonight so I just wanted to post to say I'll be leaving for DM's after mass tomorrow and plan to return on Jan. 2. Blessed Christmas and Chanukah to all who celebrate.
