Becky, that is so sweet that so many people are looking out for you and Kenneth by providing masks. I wish our governor would make masks mandatory but I don't see it happening. I would say you still have at least a couple of weeks before you could participate in PT at a therapy center vs. what you're doing now. It's a shame your progress is being hampered by the effects of the virus. 75 sounds wonderful! I hope you will have a repeat of that today. We are supposed to have a wet Easter but will be in the 60s. We're in the 30s right now. BRRRRR....
Sorry the cold front was just a tease, Kathy. Nothing new is absolutely right. We may have some folks here from out of town for longer term rentals or that own mountain cabins. If people are coming just to chill out and see the mountains, they're good. But all the attractions are closed right now, so not a time to bring the kids. I agree on how aggressive blue jays can be. We used to have a lot of problems with them at the other house.
Linda, chicken ala king was something we had a lot growing up but I haven't had it in years. Before I was a vegetarian, I lived in a place that had a little drive-thru that did the best shredded beef sandwich. I had to go there about once a week. I know you enjoyed your extra relaxation time yesterday. You definitely got lots done once you got up. I wish this dog would let us stay in bed a bit longer. She was up scratching and licking about 5:15 and I couldn't get her to settle back down. So we got up and the humans are zombies right now. The cake recipe looks great.
How's the ear doing, Chele? I hope you're recovering and won't have yet another malady follow this one. Are you having Easter-like weather? I hope you aren't expecting the strong storms we are.
Liz, I hope you get some R&R this weekend. I've seen a lot of medical professionals on TV with the mask rash like your DN has in the photo. The body isn't made to wear those things for 12 hours straight.
Not much planned here except a bit of laundry and a little cooking. Not going to have a big dinner tomorrow so it should be pretty simple. I'm trying to talk myself into making something special for dessert. Growing up, we tended to have desserts just for special occasions, so I guess I'm in that mindframe. Might do Linda's almond cake but have been craving chocolate cake but may make it into cupcakes so I can freeze some. I need to get the last of the seedlings transplanted after it warms up and try to figure out what may be ready for the plant sale in 3 weeks (provided it can go as scheduled then). Happy Weekend!

Quick checkin. Still in pain. Am using drops more frequently and I hope it works soon.
iggy did a curbside pickup at Meijer. Not as smooth as Kroger. He now appreciates my fresh produce picking skills.
Good news is that I lost another pound.
Take care and stay healthy.

Karen, it did cool down a little bit. It was in the 60s this morning, so I went out on the porch for a bit before it warmed up. The 30s sound very cold! We might get some rain tonight, but it's supposed to be pretty warm tomorrow. I think there is a new Outlander episode tomorrow and I also saw that Killing Eve is starting again.
Chele, I hope the drops work soon. I think DM needs a grocery delivery this week, so I'll probably get a few things with her order. I'm picky on my produce and miss picking my own out. Congrats on the loss.
Hope everyone has a nice evening.

30s....brr. Upstate NY got snow again yesterday!
Only deliveries here are post, ups, and amazon. The younger people here do not even call, only my brother.
Got up and baked the almond Sponge torte...ground up almond instead of flour, no butter, six egg whites, three yokes! You serve it with mixed berries on top and a dusting of confectionary sugar.
finished the puzzle and did a long dog walk, talked at distance to a neighbor.
high is 70! Morning was 49. Usually it is 85 or higher, lot of years 90s and three or four times 100s! not complaining...a blessing to walk in cool air yet. I would love to be going to the garden nursery.
Right now it looks like the wrath of the gods north east. Windy... Trying to grow celery from the stump of the store bought! laidbackgardener.blog/2016/04/30/growing-celery-from-a-stump/
I should have started the cucumber seeds...I have an old egg cartons or it.

Karen Thanks for the start. The first mask I got was from a lady who out of the goodness of her heart is making them for the community.Oh Abbott hasn't mandated face masks. It was our county judge.Today we had to go back to HEB for cat litter and prescriptions and they had 2 officers enforcing the order. You can be fined up to $1000.I heard Walmart is having to wait for corporate to decide if they want to hire police for that.Half of the people there aren't wearing them I saw on FB. It did get up to 76 today so I walked once this morning and again this afternoon. We are expecting possible bad weather from midnight through 7 or so but hopefully the sun will shine by afternoon. Then we are supposed to have a cooler than normal weather for the next week.30 would be too cold for me in April.
Chele I'm sorry you are still hurting. You probably don't feel like eating much right now buy yea on the loss.
Liz I hope you are able to relax some this weekend.
Have a blessed Easter all.

Chele, how's the ear? Is there anything you can do after it resolves to keep it from happening again? LOL on Iggy appreciating your skills at selecting produce. It's an art! I watched the Easter "sunrise" service from Red Rocks Ampitheatre in CO. The speakers and musicians were wonderful, but it was all virtual, so nothing outdoors, which was a little disappointing. They at least have some scenes of mountain sunrises between segments. Congrats on the loss--a lb is a lb, but I hate you have been through so much recently.
Enjoy your cool down, Kathy, regardless of how short it may be. Did you get some rain? We have a cloudy and rainy day here and we are expecting some severe weather over night, so we may not get a good night's sleep if Arya hears thunder. I did hear there is a new Outlander this week and I'm anxious to see what happened to Roger. We have set up to DVR Killing Eve so we can fast forward through the commercials.
Linda, you have no food delivery options? Is the almond sponge torte what you poste the recipe for a couple of days ago? You ground your own almonds or did you use actual almond "flour"? I heard that Amazon has a run on puzzles, so I hope you have a good selection. You've definitely been having unseasonal weather there. Are any of your NY relatives getting the wrath of the gods weather? Good luck with the celery. I have done that will green onions but not celery. Let us know how it comes out. Did you get your cucumber seeds started.
How was your Easter service, Becky? I thought it was a little odd that Abbott would mandate masks. Good for your county judge, but is he coming under fire for doing it? Congrats on getting in a couple of walks yesterday. Will weather be conducive to that happening again today?
Liz, hope you're having a good weekend and getting recharged.
With all the social distancing, I am enjoying getting a look at people's living spaces. For example, I watched a video with Dr. McDougall who lives in Portland, OR, and he has an amazing view of a lake or river behind him. And, Tom Hanks has kitchen cabinets very similar to ours. :} The McDougall webinar was interesting. He proclaimed that, given our current circumstances and the prospect for more viruses to come, eventually we will all be vegan. He also talked about pre-morbidity factors including pre-diabetes and obesity and their relation to who gets the worst covid symptoms. I'll be making buttercream frosting for the cupcakes. Workout clothes are in the washer. Happy Easter, Chicks!

I meant no concerned relatives dropping things off.
Yes, there are food deliveries available. hard to schedule and get what you want. I found it easier to go when there are very few people and wear a mask and disinfect it all! Last time maybe six shoppers in a big box store. Definitely not on the senior hour with mobs lined up to get tp.
Skipping housework today...made a nice brunch.
yes that is the cake recipe...nice and moist and good way to eat almonds without cracking your teeth!

Linda, the almond Sponge torte sounds delicious. There really isn't an easy solution to grocery shopping right now.
Karen, the cool down was only for one day and it didn't seem to bring any rain. It was 94 today and the low will be 73. It's too darn hot! We're supposed to get rain some this week, but it looks like it may be with thunderstorms. I have some Dr. McDougall veggie soups in the pantry. I'm assuming their from the same doctor you watched in the webinar. How did the cupcakes turn out?
Becky, I'm glad you got some masks. Our county is strongly recommending them, but they haven't made them mandatory yet. I wouldn't be surprised if that happens this week.
Chele, I saw some clips of the various church services across the country. Most were remote, but they had to show one that wasn't and it was in Orlando.
Liz, hope you were able to relax a bit this weekend.
Hope everyone had a nice Easter!

Chele I hope you feel better soon.I'm glad you were able to watch Easter Mass.
Karen Everything is virtual now.It is hard when you can't see the old Easter traditions. Our church service is filmed on Saturday nights now but not available until the regular time for church.Yesterday different church members went to church to put flowers on the cross so it would be available for filming last night. The service was good. They do have the songleader singing the hymns with our pianist who is so good she could be professional. No way Abbott would have made that order. He thinks some businesses can start back up May 1.I think he's dreaming but we will see.We were all surprised by the judge's decision but 12 people in Elgin already had tested positive because of the idiot who threw the party being asymptomatic then tested positive and of course infected everyone else at the party.I don't think anyone is actually upset about his decision.HEB has hired police to make sure nobody gets inside the store without a mask which I think is a little overkill but on the other side sits Walmart with no police and half of the customers not even wearing masks. We had a rap of rain this morning after being under a tornado watch which didn't materialize here anyway thankfully. The sun came out with gusty winds.I did take one walk this afternoon.I already got a call form PT and he is coming at 11:15 instead of his normal 1:00-2:00 time.We need to go to HEB and Walmart so we will have to leave early to get back home in time.Enjoy your cupcakes.
