Happy Easter to all ♥ Sun is shining - only 35 degrees but supposed to warm up to 50s today! Back to rain and dreary tomorrow, but for today - this will be great!
Not much time this morning - between sleeping "in" a bit, getting the potatoes and squash going and then wonky internet... But I will try to catch up.
Sue: Yesterday was nice and sunny but COLD! Those winds!! Today they appear to have died down...let's hope!
Gabrielle: YAY For getting your warmer weather FINALLY! Yes, get those cushions out and get the deck ready for you to enjoy "earlier" than usual this year!
Yes, yesterday was certainly a positive turn ♥ I will try to message my Dr this week. This cannot go on... Oh do tell - IF you told the story of your "car" - I have forgotten... and something tells me this "story" isn't one I would forget so easily?!?
Sue: I was asked to make 2 strawberry-rhubarb pies for a friend... for her girls for Easter. Since they won't all be together - she was going to deliver them each a pie. She came here to the house to get them.
Yes - good for you, keeping that car payment going - as a savings - whether it ends up as vacation or if you need it for this or that in between, having an "extra" savings is a good thing! Glad you CAN do it...
Oh dear... I know the girls and their boys will all come through this just fine. They may need a little "help" when the new school year starts, but they will get through it!
{{{hugs}}} to you as well... hope today you are able to face time and chat with the girls... maybe a Zoom with ALL of you at one time? For a change??
Oh can you share the link of your diffuser stand please?? I am thinking about it for the "organization" side more than the height - but whatever...
So glad you were able to get your painting supplies and it made Friday a good day for you!
LOL Gabrielle - HAVING Zoë here coloring eggs, and helping with my mopping - all made my Saturday a much better day ♥ OMGoodness? A CAR??? An antique (my age) car??? I will have to google it so I get a visual!! WOW! Congratulations ♥ I agree... WHY WAIT until 60??? ENJOY!! I cannot wait to see your pictures!
UGH I need to do my nails again... but no time today!

As a matter of fact - I need to hit the shower! LOL Said we'd be at Kathy's around 10, so need to be on the road in about 1 1/4 hours... need to shower - get dressed- do hair... then pack the car...
Will try to check in during the day - but not sure I will be able to... although I am happy to be going SOMEWHERE... and will see the family - I am almost dreading the whole scene of the day... going to be a tough one - my sister is not handling this FIRST very well at all... but, we do what we have to do... ♥hugs♥

Happy Easter to all!!
Just off my Sunday morning "oily friends" Zoom coffee chat!! As always a fun way to catch up with people while quarantined! Getting ready to make Easter Brunch...just waffles and fruit for me, Jason will make himself panhaus, aka scrapple! I hate it and he rarely gets it but a friend of Sarah and Josh butchered a hog a while back and gave them some....it was more than they would eat so they shared with Jason! Can't wait....NOT!!! It will make my house stink! Hopefully I can set up a diffuser closer to the kitchen to clear the stench!! LOL!
I usually chat with my cousin Carol after my Zoom but she is heading down to Auntie Priscilla's to set up U-Tube for her to watch her oldest son Jeff do Easter morning worship from his church. Jeff, like dad, is a 2nd career Lutheran pastor....he will be doing the service to an empty church but wanted people to be able to feel a "sense of normal" this Easter morning. Not sure if she is setting it up on the TV as a feed or bringing a laptop down for her to watch on...she will wear a mask, set it up and then head to the back porch to join the service with her from a safe distance!! Had to laugh when Carol said "at least I can have coffee during church today"! LOL! We will chat this afternoon sometime as after the service she is heading home to make Easter dinner for the family and then she and Ken will make "porch deliveries" to the girls and will drop a warm plate off to Auntie Priscilla...she is "old school" and has no microwave!
What will be cool about Jeff today...when dad died Pat gave Jeff dad's "celebration" stole...DM and I made if for dad when he was ordained in 1982...Pat was going to keep it and then I suggested passing it onto Jeff to use for the rest of his tenure as a pastor in "celebration" of dad. Pat gave it to Jeff at the reception after dad's funeral and Jeff cried....I will find the video and be able to see Jeff wearing it today!!
Gabrielle...sorry the day didn't warm up as you had hoped! I'm convinced lately that forecasters can "forecast from home"....ours have been so OFF lately!! Today was supposed to be "partly sunny" and it's gloomy and cloudy....at least they are right about the mild temps...it's up to 51° already! That was about the high for yesterday!! Fingers crossed you can get the deck all ready today and the cushions will be ready for enjoying sunshine on a break during your work day!
I will say it was a little unnerving painting w/o Lacey or her mom in the room to step back and help me to resolve what "didn't look right"....I managed myself with only audio suggestions after I texted my issue....not the same painting by myself in my own LR but it sure was a much needed boost to my moral!! Yes, while my memories of dad are hard and make me sad and missing him, it does bring a smile as I think of the things that made dad so happy.
It's funny you mention "organizing" Gabrielle...that is exactly what I was thinking when I got the diffuser stand...keeps everything in one tidy place and if I need to move it for some reason I can pick the whole thing up, oils and all, in one piece. Not to mention...it looks pretty sitting there. I DID order a 2nd for the bedroom.....last night when I was getting my diffuser set up for overnight, and picking up bottle after bottle to see the label I just decided that since this will always be on the nightstand and every day I go through the same routine...why not make it pretty! Should be here mid week!
Funny....clutter never used to bother me years ago...I kind of chocked it up to the chaos of working FT, raising kids, etc! Now the older I get, the clutter is starting to drive me nuts. Little by little I will purge and "organize" our space. I know the girls will appreciate that when the time comes to clean this place out when we are gone...at least "my space" will be organized! Jason, not so much! LOL!
Going to make the waffle batter.....Jason will be back in about 15 minutes so I will be ready to start cooking when he gets back! See you all in a bit....

Good morning and Happy Easter!
I don't know how I forgot, but I was looking forward to my WW workshop and then remembered---it is Easter! No Workshop today Oh well...not sure I can make it any other times this week with work demands (they are all in the middle of the day). We have never been a very "religiously oriented" family, but we did attend sunrise service and celebrate Easter--kind of as a renewed beginning. I hope that all of you who do celebrate this as a Holy holiday feel connected in spite of the social separation that is going on. I really DO believe that church is not a "building" and I am shocked when I see that some of the church leaders are suggesting that their congregation attend in person. Really shocking. So glad that it is rare though.
I am a fan of NPR and listen to it often. I thought that some of you might be interested in their graph of when they estimate the "peak" of COVID 19 will be in each state....it was updated yesterday based on data (and I am sure that it isn't totally accurate, but interesting just the same). I tried to think of all of our states. Here you go: OK - April 28th, PA - April 17, MA - April 27, FL - April 27, TN - April 20, IL - April 8, CA - April 15
So, in CA we are being warned that, although things seem to be getting better, it is because we are staying home...if we stop, it could go up again. This is a critical time so I hope that people stick with it. If the sun comes out, it will make it easier...poor DH has to keep hearing me say, "If the sun comes out today...." Hopefully soon...not a single weather forecast has been correct for over a week.
Carole: Have a wonderful day with family--I am sure that there will be moments of sadness....but, most of all, I hope that you are not put in the position of consoling other people. That is just NOT okay in my book. Hugs to you today. I saw that you made deviled eggs....oh, I LOVE them! Should have thought of that! DH is still mostly vegan so it would be just DS20 and I....but still tasty! Hoping that you have a nice day and feel not-so-secluded after today

Sue: Oh, loved reading about Jeff wearing your dad's stole!!! How amazing that would be to see. So glad that the service can be viewed online. I am like you...I have become increasingly bothered by clutter as I have gotten older--kind of funny, but I feel the need to "downsize" and "minimize" things. I have BEGGED DH to PLEASE bring a dumpster so that I can just do a bit "toss" of things. Instead, he always says, "Put it in the back of the pickup and I will take it to the dump." The problem is, he doesn't have time to take it and it winds up sitting in the garage and then I go through it AGAIN to re-sort it...drives me nuts. Just recently he said, "Maybe I should just get a dumpster." GRRR...I will let him think it is his idea. LOL, just one of those things! Your painting really is beautiful--it popped up again last night on FB. Hope that you have a good day--I have never heard of what Jason is having--but you mentioned "pig" parts and it made me wrinkle my nose. Dare I ask, which parts of the pig? LOL, open those windows!
Christine: I hope that you and the family are having a good day today! Seen any good movies? I count on you and your girls to give me ideas! Hope that you have a good day.
Lisa: How are you doing this weekend?
Hello to Jenny, Shelly, Jo, Nadine, and all who follow. Need to get moving around here. In spite of the gloomy sky, I have decided to do a few things outside. I'll just bundle up a bit and bear it. I have some work-work to do later. And I think that I'll make some bean soup. Have a good day ladies!

Just finished brunch and listening to our goddaughter Emily play Easter hymns for an hour. Emily is Jeff's youngest and lives in Colorado....she has a PhD in music performance and teaches in Colorado. She's one talented kid and I'm looking forward to listening to her again at 1:00pm EST. She was perfect background music for our brunch and it was so wonderful to hear her play. We don't get to hear her often so this was very special for us. I tuned in a few minutes late and missed my favorite Easter hymn....I messaged Em and told her I missed it so she is going to do a repeat for me at the 1:00pm hour!! I can't wait!!! It is also Dad's favorite!! She opened the 1st hour with it for Auntie Priscilla!! ♥♥♥ It is a family favorite!! It was the song they pushed Grandpa's casket out of the church to...still can't sing it but I can at least listen and enjoy it now w/o tears. Thine is the Glory...Risen Conquering Son....such a hymn of celebration for me! I may not be a church goer these days but I still have the same faith...just can't stand church politics....
Gabrielle...a '58 Corvette!! WOW!!! Glad Ed is mechanical as I can't imagine that would be cheap to restore!! At least with this pandemic he has some extra time on his hands to work on it...hope it is ready to "cruise" around in later this spring and summer! Can't wait to see the picture when it is finished! Yes...if you had shared that story...I would have remembered it!! No worries, your secret/surprise for DM is safe with us!
Happy Easter Carole...loved the Deviled Egg picture with the eggs Zoe colored yesterday...too cute! Yes, enjoy today and come 10:00pm tonight rains start here and rains straight through until late afternoon tomorrow! It's supposed to be low 70's tomorrow, windy and could be bad thunderstorms!! Sure hope no one loses power...the storms last week knocked out a lot of peoples' power. The winds plus the T-storms is not a good combo.... You seems to be about 12+ hours behind us weather-wise....yesterday was still chilly but the winds had died down a good bit and today they are gone, just a little breeze!
Carole...that was sweet to make the pies for the friend to bring to her girls today...I know it will be a special treat since they won't be together today! The last time I "paid the car payment" as savings we had enough to put a HUGE down payment on the CR-V so it kept our actual payment down to about the same as it was for van when we bought that 15 years before....I know many have car payments of $600-700 so it really worked out great for us to have a 2002 car payment and not a 2015 car payment!! Honestly was doing it again to save for probably one last new car for us but a family vacation might be more fun! LOL! What makes it easy to do it is that it is in a different bank from our regular accounts and it comes out of my check so I don't even know the difference!
Yes, I'm not really worried about the boys next fall...all of them are above grade level at this point so even if they do "fall back" a bit, I don't think there is risk of them being behind what is expect at the new grade level. I know the teachers will be well prepared to handle whatever comes up as EVERYONE navigates this new territory of learning!
We actually FaceTimed with Hannah last night for a couple hours....today they will chat with Shea and Deb & Dave....it was fun! The boys opened their Pokemon cards and were SO EXCITED!! Who knew Pokemon would make a come back but it has and the boys were so funny to watch as they found cards they didn't have or a duplicate of an "awesome power card" as Kale said! They were telling us what each card was good for and how the power and life points worked...Hannah, Jason and I just smiled and let them talk! They were having fun and that's all that mattered! Will likely chat with Sarah later...not sure what they are doing but I know they aren't going to Josh's parents as they usually do!!
Here is the link to the diffuser stand...it's on Amazon... www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077ZY6PTK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

LOL Gabrielle & Carole...I did my nails on April 3rd and they are still going strong! Starting to look a little grown out but not chipped at all. Will likely take the polish off next Friday night and do them again over the weekend!! Still loving my Color Street and how well the last. I even had to give them an extra "scrub" after painting and no problems....
Yes Carole...the "firsts" are always the hardest and it will be for everyone for different reasons. As odd as it may seem this will be the least difficult on Zoe and maybe that is a good thing for today. She has very few "Easter memories" with her daddy and now that she has had several weeks of a "new normal" it might just be a gathering to her. You have to experience the firsts as hard as they will be and with each coming Easter it will be easier and past Easter memories will begin to be shared with more smiles than tears. Hugs to you my friend! Will be thinking about you!! ♥♥♥
Gabrielle...it's funny how today in many ways seem like "just another Sunday"....if it weren't for texts and FB Easter wishes it could be easy to forget!! Exactly my point about church/church politics Gabrielle...as I got older and started to see "christian people" at church on Sunday who during the week are NOT "christian" I became jaded....I had begun to drift away from weekly services and other functions and then the thing that through me really over the edge was when I had my 1st TKR....the pastor never came to see me in the hospital at all...then about a week after Jason's aunt died and we went to the funeral...she was a VERY active member of St. Paul's so many members came to pay respects...so many came up to me and said "we miss you, you need to come back and join us, you are part of our 'church' family"....well, for 10 more weeks I rehabbed at home and NOT ONE person from St. Paul's called, texted, visited, sent a card...nothing and our phone number, email and other info is in the church directory. Who DID check on me, bring a meal, call to give me some "company"....my friends, some co-workers, etc. I have no more patience with "Sunday morning Christians" who don't practice that faith outside the walls of a church!!
Dad and I talked of it often and that is the reason he left the big churches and went to a smaller church in his later career....he too became jaded by the church politics and the lack of true faith and christian works. He knew my faith had not changed but I didn't need the "building" but to live my life in a kind, loving manner was my way of "worshiping" I guess!! Funny, my cousin Jeff just did the same thing...left the big church he was at and now at a smaller country church....I think sometimes pastors "hope" they can change the "Sunday Christians" but get tired of trying so go to the place where true faith/Christianity lives.
OK....need to get ready for Em's next hour of hymns...don't want to miss "Thine is the Glory..."!
Back in a bit....

Happy Easter!!Had a good morning here - made our traditional Sausage casserole for breakfast/brunch, with fresh home made blueberry muffins and, ahem, mimosas! lol Linds and I agreed we simply cannot track every thing today so we will return to OP tomorrow. But we will be mindful of portion control and drink LOTS of water. Getting ready to make the Ham dinner - I prepared scalloped pineapples yesterday (SO not WW friendly despite my best attempt lol) and will go with green beans, corn, and Au Gratin Potatoes. No Polish Sausage this year (boo hoo!) as the butchers could not get delivery in time for Easter. But we'll live, especially as Polish sausage is NOT WW friendly lol Made a skinny dessert - older WW recipe with fat free cool whip, sugar free orange jello and sugar free Vanilla pudding - so there's my WW attempt. Carly and I watched EASTER Mass on my laptop - our church live-streamed it from our little chapel not the large church - just the soloist and priest. It was still pretty and a nice message. Puttered around the kitchen long enough and now need to get moving. Temps might hit 60 today but rain - I still opened windows and will keep an eye on the windy rain - really miserable weather kicking up tomorrow (rain and high winds up to 30 mph) - our poor Lake front is getting flooded locally and has many concerned with the high water levels and winds - our favorite outdoor tavern is currently under water! Yikes - Anyways, remaining positive today. Last night Linds and I dropped off DM's Easter dinner since she cannot share in person today. Plus her wine, yes, let's not forget her wine! LOL We visited through her door - she is really doing well. We just know though with me in and out of the community and Linds fresh in from another County (Butler County, I think they have 119 cases of COVID-19) we didn't want to get near or touch anything on her porch! Okay - thinking of CAROLE with her 1st Holiday - HUGS to you my friend! - we are here for you!!

I'm back...Em played a little longer this afternoon and it was fun!! She played "Thine is the Glory" for her 'favorite Fairy godmother"!! I love that child!! She and Carol & Ken's youngest daughter Liv are both our goddaughters and they have always called me their "favorite Fairy godmother"....they are now 31 and 25 respectively and the name still sticks...makes me smile as it brings back those little voices that called me that so many years ago! With a little prodding we even convinced Em's DH Zack to get out his bagpipes...that was so fun!! Don't get to hear him play those very often! My cousin Steve laid on a really thick "quarantine guilt trip" that worked! Steve is the one that reminds me so much of daddy and was no surprise that he was the one to bring it up....Dad would have been chiming in as well if he were here!!
Carole...I did get to scroll through your FB Easter pictures...looks like Zoe had a nice day and I love the matching dresses!!
Gabrielle...it is interesting the "peak" estimates for the different states...however I think PA and a few others are a bit premature....while we (PA) had a couple days with much lower numbers of growth we then had 3 more with MUCH higher numbers.....I think the dates while a bit optimistic, they are right in the order that things will start to plateau based on when each state was impacted and when that state started to be proactive...quarantine and enforce social distancing!! Out of curiosity I checked the trends in IL and they had the 2 highest death totals per day this week so I'm thinking that 4/8 is not accurate but I do know that they were quick to quarantine. I think many are looking for hope and an "end in sight" but it is truly too early for such estimates!
Was reading an article earlier today and the thing that bothers me is how soon Trump was made aware of the virus and the need to begin closing schools, universities and other non-essential places...very disheartening that it took 6 weeks before he saw the true pandemic....this has nothing to do with politics so please don't anyone take offense....but the fact that he was told on January 29th that this was going to be a serious problem and it took until mid-March for any national action to be taken....just saying???
Shea's sister, Bryn, is in Sacramento and just this week when Hannah was chatting with her, she said it is still a LONG way from over and the peak is still on the horizon. As someone right in the center of this as an ER doc she has a very real grasp on things and I continue to look to professionals for answers. Rose is also and RN at our local hospital and she to says the "peak" is still several weeks away and then the return to normal will be almost as long as it took to "peak". Unfortunately if people are given just a little leeway they will abuse it and then we will be right back to where we are today....
You know the old saying...."give them an inch and they take a mile"! THAT is what we have to hope does NOT happen or this will last long into the summer.....
Yes Gabrielle...the sun does wonders for everyone these days!! As I mentioned a couple days ago, just the difference between the Monday after the rainy weekend vs last Monday after a sunny weekend....have a feeling with the "not so nice" weekend we have just had it could be a bunch of "grumpy Gerties" tomorrow!

OH Gabrielle...what I wouldn't give for a dumpster but Jason is NOT one to just toss something that "someone may have a use for"....and that goes right down to garden stakes!! The girls "purged" their stuff when they moved out and Jason went through everything and kept 1/3 of it....it was a memory!! Apparently the girls didn't even remember half the crap they had saved over the years but Jason remembered it and he couldn't "throw away or give away their childhood"! See what I'm up against!!
You asked Gabrielle....here is the answer! It's NASTY but the girls and Jason love it! And yes, it is "everything but the squeal" of the pig!!!
What is Panhaus?
Scrapple, also known by the Pennsylvania Dutch name Pannhaas or "pan rabbit", is traditionally a mush of pork scraps and trimmings combined with cornmeal and wheat flour, often buckwheat flour, and spices. The mush is formed into a semi-solid congealed loaf, and slices of the scrapple are then pan-fried before serving.
Christine...sounds like a perfect perfect Easter brunch! Glad you and Linds had the "free day mentality" for today and will be back OP tomorrow. Just being mindful of portions will be good.... OMG, while Jason loves Scalloped Pineapple that is another NASTY in my book! My DSS Deb made me try it a couple times because it is "so good and family favorite" but NOPE, it's just plain yucky to me! Glad you could stream mass today and drop off dinner and wine to DM yesterday!! Must make sure DM is happy! LOL!
Time to toss in the last load of laundry and get started on the Zuppa Toscana....not exactly "traditional" Easter dinner but then again this is not a traditional Easter. Today we make a new memory of the "year of the quarantine"....
Waves Nadine, Shelly, Jo, Jenny and Lisa....hope you are all having a great Easter and connecting with family & friends however you can safely!!
