Good morning.
Cold here. 23, with the high just going into the 30's. Sunny skies at least.
Pinky, how was your shopping trip yesterday? I am thinking of switching to the smaller grocery stores in town. We went yesterday, after DH telehealth visit with his PA for his back surgery. (I was surprised but happy to hear they are starting to make on site appointments with patients, starting next week!!!), the store we go to is quite large, but I was really nervous shopping, as I was so aware of social distancing, but the mass of shoppers were not! And with concentrating on the 6' distance, and all, it was hard for me to concentrate on shopping, and of course I had forgotten my list at home. We were able to get everything on the list, so that was ok, but I hate the limits on certain things, and my goodness, the empty shelves! What is up with that??? No packages of chicken thighs?
Come on!!! There are 2 smaller stores in our area, which I will start going to, but not for a week or so, as we are good for now.
Smithfield has been on the news here. Plus there are 2 "facilities" that had the virus go thru, within the last 2 weeks, one being Salm Partners, a meat place, which makes sausages, etc, for major brands, like Johnsonville, the other place being an assisted living place. I think Wi will be hitting their peak within the next week. Looks like from what I am hearing, we might be having another month of this. Bummer.
Marsha, I am jealous of you, for having a sewing machine, AND know how to use it, lol. I have been seeing on FB so many really nice face masks. Our DD got us a few last week from someone she knows that makes them, and DH hates his, I just use mine and get through it. These masks have the long ties, DH would like the elastic instead. I may go online and see what I can buy for us, as I think we will be wearing these for a long while. The 2 we have are Packer masks.
How did your pizza turn out? DH wants tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich for dinner tonight. I was planning on making the recipe I have for chicken thighs, carrots, onions and potatoes, roasted together. One of my favorite dishes, and more WW friendly. I think I will make the soup and sandwich for him for lunch.
Gareth, you are right, I read somewhere that yes, you can reuse disposable masks. Also, it seems they are coming up with ways to reuse a lot of things the healthcare people are using. Of course gloves will never be reused, lol.
My recipe for scalloped potatoes is just of course the potatoes, sliced thin, then a can of Healthy request cream of mushroom soup, stirred with milk, a couple tablespoons of flour, and butter. Cheese can be put on top if you like. Then bake at 350 for around an hour. It is so good but not WW friendly.
By the way, I think all of us went through that when we were kids, the perms, and the short bangs. I remember being so happy when I finally got to my teen years and was able to have control of my hair!
Carol, at the store yesterday, the seniors I noticed just do not seem to have a clue!!! I agree, it is hard to concentrate on your shopping, plus do the social distancing, but come on!!! You can not crowd people in!!! And the younger people, like in their 30's/40's. They are not doing it right either! The store has arrows to follow and signs hanging up, guiding shoppers as to which aisle to go which direction, and sure enough, the younger shoppers do not abide by it. And then you have the people that are shopping together! Really??? 2 women, 2 carts AND their kids!! Give me a break!!! At least most people had masks on. I did get a kick out of the women I saw that had masks on, but they were pulled down under their chin, so it was not covering their mouth and nose, lol!!!
Anngie, you are preaching to the choir, about the weather!!!! I was just thinking that, yesterday, that we had a nice early spring for awhile, now we are back to late winter. Brrr!!! Got up this morning, and had to turn the fireplace heater on and the furnace! The furnace has been off for a long time.
DD1 is doing great with her loss. Of course she wishes she had lost more by now, but the pictures she posts on FB, look really good, you can see the major difference. She ordered hand weights from Dick's the other day, so she can work on all that baggy skin, but I kept my mouth shut, as I think the only way she can get rid of that is with cosmetic surgery. It is still a good idea to start working her muscles.
Lol, I just mentioned to Carol about the senior citizens and their not being able to do all that is expected, and shop too!
I think I read books by Barbara Taylor Bradford years ago, but sorry, I can not remember them.
Robin, the picture of Maddie is just precious! This kind of reminded me of how everyone, especially in Great Britain waited for pictures of Archie, lol. At least we did not have to wait long!
About the grocery store limiting people in is such a good idea, especially after seeing the crowds yesterday at the bigger store. As I mentioned earlier, I am going back to the smaller stores, and hopefully they have better control over their stores.
Supposedly the price of gas is going to go up now. We did see it yesterday for 97 cents a gallon. But others had it for $1.14, which is still great.
Does the nurse live in with them, or come and go every day? You are the first person that I know, who has someone that has a baby nurse. To my knowledge, that is not done in this area.
I see on the news everyone is getting antsy to get things opened up again. I can totally relate, but if it take a while longer, nothing we can do about it.
We did get our stimulus in our checking account over night. I transferred it to our savings account, till we decide what to do with it, I am leaning on giving it to our DD's. It is just a thought.
That time of the week to start apartment cleaning. DH will be under foot the rest of the week, so I will just have to work around him.
Need to also get some tracking done on WW. Did I mention they added on the app a way to track water? That is pretty nice, just like the good old days! Maybe some day they will add a way to track the Good Health guidelines.
Have a nice day everyone, and stay safe!
