Whether you are regular poster or a lurker, we encourage you to talk with us. We do talk about books, but also about our lives, and Weight Watchers. We are women who are spread around the country, and eventually you will learn you we are, and what books we like to read.Don't be intimidated, just pop in and tell us who you are, and what you are reading now.
This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year old board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

Good morning. Still cold here, 26 to start the day, today we will get into the 40's, so it will start warming up.
Marsha, that deal is a great deal, wherever you get your gas from! But you are not seeing prices under $1. in your neck of the woods, so to speak? I have not been good at tracking either, I will think of it one day, then the next day I totally forget. And of course it shows up on the scale. So I am trying again. Did you hear they are saying they might have football games without the fans in the stands? Yikes! That will really go over good, in GB!!! Lol.
Pinky, hello, and I hope you aren't as swamped today, as yesterday.
Gareth, maybe you will get your check next week. I don't know how they are picking who gets it when. A woman on FB said she didn't know when she would get it, as her last name is way back in the alphabet, I told her I didn't think that mattered as my last name starts with S. I too rarely need to fill my car up anymore, one reason being, when we go anywhere now, DH drives, and we use his jeep. I am happy he feels up to driving now, as it took him a long time to do, with his surgery. But with him working part time most of his career, it is ingrained in him to look at gas prices, which of course rubbed off on me. Grass cutting, from what I know, has not started here. That would be a shock to see, but on the other hand, we have seen services fertilizing big lawns already.
Carol, as your county, there really is not much testing going on here either. I don't know how they come up with the counts, of positive, as every person that was sick, that I have heard of, was not tested. So imagine how many are walking around that have it or had it! And don't get me started on that whole Jenny Mcarthy thing!!!! People can believe anything! About Bill Gates, ABC national news was going to interview him and his wife, so I walked out of the room....why are they putting him on a pedestal?? He is not a doctor, or a scientist!!!
Robin, how fun, getting a look at the baby!!!! That day will be here before you know it, and then you will be holding her all the time!!! Now that I think of it, will you be in competition with DDIL mother, when the time is up, for snuggling time? I said right away, when they announced about the stimulus, that it would go to our daughters and their families. DH was not happy with me at first, but I am sticking to my guns, because I feel the same as you, people on SS are not affected as the working world is, yes, we are affected, as in we have to be more careful than the younger people, so we have to make more of an effort to stay home, but our financial picture did not change. At first I wanted to donate all of the money to a local charity, but I knew DH would not approve. So I am happy to help out our family.
Did not get cleaning done yesterday, and probably not today either. No big deal, as we can't have anyone over, so it isn't vital to have a clean house all the time. I did spend quite a bit of time looking over the WW programs, and the 0 points section, and today I will get some veggie's and fruit in the apartment to seriously give it another go. It just dawned on me yesterday, that at the first of the year, my medicare supplement added dental coverage to my plan, and so far my teeth cleaning appointment has been cancelled twice. Between that and my hair cut that was a bad cut, I can not wait for all of this to get back to some kind of normal. I saw how the citizens of Michigan rallied yesterday, after the Governor there tightened their restrictions. Then on FB last night, I saw someone passing around a notice that there will be one Friday at our state capital. Good grief!! What a waste of time.
Time for another cup of coffee, have a nice day, and stay safe.

Karen, your weather is the same as here. We're on the edge though of accumulating snow south of us tonight. I heard the checks are going out depending on the level of income from lower to higher.
Robin, nice you got a peek at your DGD. I know though how anxious you must be to hold and cuddle her.
I've walked my indoor track this morning. I'm planning on getting outdoors later for another walk. I need some fresh air. It'll be in the 40's with light wind so with the sun it should be nice for a walk. DH and I are doing some cleaning around here today too.

It is a new day!!!! The sun is shining and our warming up starts today---although only in the 40's today and 50's tomorrow and weekend they are saying 60's and even possibly 70 next week. So good!!! DH is getting so anxious to get to the field and start planting and I can't wait for him to---he needs something to do like that. He is no good at sitting in the office all day. And so for a new day we have new weather and just a better day overall. Nothing in particular bad yesterday but just overall things that could go wrong did.
Robin--so happy you got that peek at baby Maddie! Is she one of those babies you can tell right away who she looks like?
Karen--so sweet that you are giving that money to your DD's. They will sure appreciate it. How is DD2 feeling?
Today I am hoping to finally go do that grocery shopping that I was going to do yesterday---hope it works out because I really want to go before the weekend when I am sure it will be busier.
Have a good day ladies!

Karen - the gas stations I drive by back and forth to work are $1.059. I just looked up Costco and they are $.949. I have $1.00/gallon credit to use by the end of April from Pick and Save's loyalty program so if we go to BP we will pay $.059/gallon. I feel almost guilty about that. I can't imagine football without fans. I'm sure if they don't allow fans in the game or the parking lot, there will be tailgating at the houses around Lambeau. They interviewed Bill Gates because his donating more millions of dollars to help fight this thing.
We got our check direct deposited into my account yesterday. I'm going to move it out of checking to save for when we inevitably have to pay it back through taxes one way or the other. They have to recoup that money somehow.
Last day of Passover today so tomorrow I get back on track. Hold me to it. Tonight we are ordering food - I think we are getting Chinese. I was thinking about it - our favorite Chinese restaurant does the majority of their business delivery or takeout anyway so they are probably still operating as normal, except of course if people are not ordering food because of job losses, but compared to a restaurant whose primary income is people who come to eat there I think they probably are not suffering as much.
This morning I did a quick 10 minute workout on an ap. I wasn't thrilled with it. then I started the 30 day plank program - easy today at only 10 seconds! tomorrow I'll find something better or maybe do the Nordic track. Or find a yoga youtube.

It is quite cold for us here also for April, it will not get above 50. But it is sunny.
Karen, I think your DH got his boat, he should be happy and let you do what you want. I know your DD's and DDIL's weren't working for a while, so it is good to do.
Gareth, are you keeping your laundry days the same now, or are you off schedule because you are not going out? Good that you are still walking your indoor route.
Pinky, I am trying to figure out what the news keeps saying about farmers. There is a glut of pork, but then when you go to the stores they are out? I know there have been some issues in processing plants though, so maybe it is production that is a problem. We have been lucky to get what we needed really. Except, I am getting to the point that I would like to buy Charmin Ultra.
Marsha, glad you got your money. I guess it's more or less the same for you, extra money when you are earning money.
The thing with people not getting their checks direct deposited, if you did not get a refund on your taxes, so you didn't give them your banking info for direct deposit for your refund, you will not get the stimulus money direct deposited. It seems not to matter if you get your Social Security direct deposited. I will wait to get my check in the mail I suppose, whatever amount of it I will get. I should ask my DS's if they got it. It would be nice for my older DS, they can use that for the nurse! So, the reason for the baby nurse is that she gets up during the night to give the baby bottles so that DS & DDIL can get sleep. She brought DDIL the baby at 6 am in bed so that she can nurse her there. I know it is a luxury, but very common here. They also teach them how to do things. Of course there are youtube videos about everything these days, but they only go so far. They have also discovered that one of the nicest things to get as a gift is the people who have sent food or restaurant gift certificates.

Cold, brisk day here today but at least it’s partly sunny.
Karen, very thoughtful of you and DH giving your. Heck to DD’s. I’m sure they’ll appreciate it. Is DD able to go to work or still not feeling well? We just paid $2.29/gal and that’s good for here. Filled both tanks. The Gates‘ just donated $250 million toward Covid19 research that’s why they were on. Last week I read where he said back in 2015 that it would be a virus, not a war, that someday, would be the most damaging to the world. I found that quite interesting.
Noon news just announced NYS’s Stay At Home order is extended till May 15.
I wonder how this will affect road travel throughout the states. We go to DGS’s birthday the end of May. We’ll see.
Gareth, nice day for a walk outside! Wish I could say that! lol
Pinky, I feel your pain - my DH can’t sit still either.
Marsha, YouTube is a wonderful invention!
Robin, I’m glad you got a sneak peek! Does she have a full head of dark hair - or a little blondie!? I remember you said you liked Little Fires - does it pick-up eventually because I’m finding it slow going?

Anngie, she has a lot of dark hair for such a tiny baby, but they say it is getting lighter. It could be the only thing that looks like DS, but who knows. She definitely looks like her mother's side of the family. They set up an album for iPhones, so their joke is that now DH will switch to an iPhone, but I doubt it. He can't get them because he insists on using an Android. Today I just got pictures of DS working from home, of course holding the baby, in front of his computer with 2 monitors.
Gas here is $2.09, I think the gas tax in NY increases prices, but I can't imagine that gas is normally that much less in Wisconsin.
What you might want to watch is the Bill Gates Ted Talk from 2015, you can find it on Youtube. Also, last night on CNN they showed a clip of Obama from December 2014 talking about how we could get hit with a pandemic in 5 years, and that was why he created that task force that was disbanded in 2018 by you know who.

Robin - I would really like to watch those videos you recommended, The problem is that dh watches so much of this information that I try not to participate in any of it at home. If I put anything on it just feeds his fury which I simply don't want to deal with. I leave the room when he puts on His Highness' press conference or Rachel Madow or whatever just so I don't have to hear it.
Our governor extended the Safer at Home Order to Memorial Day. My boss is spitting nails over it. He insists it is possible to stay healthy and go retail shopping. We have an ongoing argument about restaurants - he says move the tables apart, I say not possible to move far enough. He says we should be able to go to JC Penney if we can go to Home Depot (I really don't have an argument there). As in why can we go to Target and Home Depot etc but other large retail are not deemed "safe". He is sure we are headed for a depression. I don't necessarily disagree. I don't know the answer. I do know that people did not expect to be confined more than a few weeks and I don't know how long it will be possible to keep them locked up before we see more protests like in Michigan yesterday and before those protests turn violent.
