I have been walking and reading in 15 minute increments and read my nook while walking from one wall to the opposite wall in the basement. I set the alarm for 45 minutes, walk, back to computer, repeat. I have done this every day for the last three days and have 15 minutes in for today already. It works for me and gets done before lunch.

lani, My husband cut his own hair today. The other day he was digging through his bathroom cabinets and found an electric trimmer with attachments. Turned out okay.

DH is getting his hair cut (and colored) at 4:00PM today in his hairdresser's garage where she has a setup with a sink and everything. Ack! These sort of things aren't good to be doing right now. I say this from a public health point of view...this weekend a shit ton of people are out and about when they shouldn't be because our idiot president intimated it's okay. It's not. This may not even be the main peak/wave right now, it's entirely possibly we're in for another even worse wave if we all don't buckle down and stay home. And for what it's worth, my roots are about an inch long right now. I'm just gonna go with it! My husband's hair is bushing out, but he won't let me touch is so...bushy it is!
As for the topic at hand, I was walking daily about 5x week, each walk about 1-2 hours while I caught up with friends and family, but this week I hit a wall. I think walking on concrete is hard on my joints and my bad ankle started acting up while walking, and then my hips got achy, so I'm having to slow it down and not go for such long jaunts. It's amazing how far I can walk when talking to people, but I also got burnt out talking all the time so today I'm going out for half an hour right now, and I'm not going to call anyone, just enjoy the fresh air and quiet...

surfgirl, she is bleaching surfaces and wearing a mask. I know this activity will not be met with approval by many. Sorry.

surfgirl , she is bleaching surfaces and wearing a mask. I know this activity will not be met with approval by many. Sorry. Well I'm glad she's doing that at least. I think it's best to not post this sort of thing though as it can encourage others to do the same and then what's the point of distancing? I know people are getting antsy, I am too. But from the public health/epidemiology perspective, we have to continue to buckle down and stay the course or else we could get more waves of infection, and they could be worse that this current wave, and we might also not have lasting herd immunity from the first wave because we really don't know how this virus operates. There are just too many 'what ifs' out there right now.

surfgirl, she has two small children and is struggling to pay rent etc. No government help. She is only doing close friends. She is a close friend to us. She is working out of her garage. At the risk of pissing you off more, DH is concerned about going grey and looking older than he is with the 65s and older supposed to not leave home at all in our state. Yes, you better believe I won't post this stuff anymore after this!

lani ,it's not pissing me off, it's just concerning. I like you, and I don't want you to be at risk. I have the same issue with my hair person, and I've offered to pre pay her but she keeps saying no. I wish she'd take me up on the offer! We're also paying our housekeeper during this time because we're worried about her, and this isn't her fault at all.

surfgirl , I appreciate your concern. We have been in a virtual plastic bubble (other than DH's forbidden hair appts.) since March 16, only going out for supplies and short walks wearing masks and gloves (well no gloves when we're walking ) and washing and sanitizing. DH is working from home. We are in excellent health and take no medication. Mr. Lani tried wearing a mask as well as his stylist during the session, but couldn't keep it on the whole time. He will go his own way on this one. Re: "pissed off", I thought his fear of going grey would be annoying to others and seem like a trivial concern. He really doesn't want to look older, as I said, since no one over 65 is supposed to leave the house at all in our state.

since no one over 65 is supposed to leave the house at all in our state. I didn't know they were being so strict. What about people that need groceries and stuff. Not everyone has someone to shop for them. There is delivery but it might not work for some people. It would be a big adjustment for me to adapt to delivery. At least I found a place where I can order my cats' favorite food online. It isn't available by delivery.
