Well, I must confess my hairdresser has been underground for over a year. She and a friend had a shop together. The other woman had health problems and she decided to retire. My hairdresser couldn't afford the rent and didn't want to bring anyone new in so she opened a shop in her craft and sewing room. It used to be a garage and already had electricity and water in it. I'm not sure how legal this is so I haven't said much about it to anyone. Gareth, I like what your hairdresser said. The DH of mine has heart issues and I know she wants to keep him isolated as much as possible. His health, of course, is more important than my roots. I can get some root cover-up if I need to. I would feel terrible is she or her DH got sick.
Both my DM and MIL saved greeting cards. Most of them were just signed by the sender, no note or personal message in them. We tossed most of them. I saved all the cards I got when my parents died. A few years ago, I went through them. I read them and cried some and then threw some away. I kept the ones that had personal notes in them. I made a note on the back who the sender was so my kids would know when they go through my things.
After we sold MIL's house, I wanted to see how the buyer fixed it up so I looked it up on Zillow. The bathroom and kitchen needed the most work and he didn't really do much in those rooms. A coat of paint would have helped. He pulled up the carpet and found some nice hardwood floors. He had cleaned up the yards, too. They had gotten really overgrown. He had really cleaned up the basement, too. ILs used it for storage, but the people they bought it from had used it as a den. The buyer cleaned and painted it and said it could be a family room or a bedroom.
