Welcome to the CLUTTERBUSTERS thread. We are a daily thread, Monday thru Friday, and we have a combined weekend edition Saturday and Sunday. We welcome new members and are a friendly, helpful and supportive group.
Our purpose is for support and sharing of tips and strategies in dealing with weight and clutter issues in our lives. Many feel that the two are often tied together. So, we will lend a caring ear, and hopefully give and learn tips to help all of us.
We want to remove at least 5 items or spend at least 15 minutes clutter busting today!
Remember, it didn't pile up in one day so it isn't going away in a day either. One organizer says: you don't have to stop everything to get organized, you just have to start somewhere.

Good morning,
Can’t believe it’s the weekend already. This past week flew by.
It’s nice and sunny out. It’s only 32* now, heading to the mid 40s. Looks like I’ll finally get a walk in this afternoon. Really looking forward to that. It snowed on and off yesterday evening, but no real accumulation of the white stuff.
Today I’ll drag 2 bins of stuff to the garage for eventual pickup. Also some empty bins to move out. Making more progress. Last night I tackled the sock bin, only kept newer socks, tossed out a lot. Also went through my bra bin. I had tags on some of them, but they didn’t fit. If they were in good shape some went to charity bag, others tossed. I had a lot of nice ones with underwire, they made it to charity bag too. Now I have a manageable amount , I’m thrilled.
I know it sounds like I should be coming to an end with all of this soon, but that’s not the case. I still have quit a few bins to go through, but the good thing is that most of the items are either making their way to charity, or getting tossed. I’m glad I have a lot of trash bags, they’re coming in handy.
Ruth - those pics are nice. Cute handles and I love the built in china cabinet, beautiful. Sounds like you’re making progress in your storage area.
Dottie - hoping the project states on schedule. Any thoughts as to when you’ll be traveling back home? Sounds like you’re getting anxious to head back.
Enough for now. Bbl

Joyce, I’m amazed at the amount of clothing that you are getting rid of or donating. Keep going. Hope you get your walk in this afternoon. I’m with you about doing a task for a set amount of time and then something fun (for me) and then back to the task. It seems to keep me more on the task.
Waving to Ruth, hope you were able to get the things to your DSs house that you wanted to drop off for them. I like the new handles, it makes the cabinets look much more modern.
I have been doing a lot of cleaning today. With workers in and out of the condo for most of the week it is hard to do anything. I gave the condo a good cleaning and then spent some time in the kitchen doing all the counters, stove – etc. I also went thru my pile of papers (bills, pharmacy, EOBs) and purged some of them. I have started a staging area for packing. I plan on packing my big suitcase tomorrow. We are heading home on the 29th. As I look back at the clutter in my basement I realize a lot of it started after the boys quit using the basis to hang out with friends. There wasn’t room for us to store a lot of things at that time. Now the main area (the basement is partially fixed up) has become more of a storage area. Bill has a big workroom for his power tools and also too much other junk.

Officially done CBing for the day.
After years of working a 2nd job in retail (Jcp, Catherine’s, cj Banks), having 50% or more discounts at those stores as well as Fashion Bug, Dress Barn .., I accumulated a lot of clothes. And I never got rid of anything, just bought more and more. I actually found some clothes that I kept from my college days. I had clothes from size 8 to 18. After I retired I thought I’d get rid of my clothes, but that didn’t happen. I just kept putting them in a plastic bin and moved to the basement. So if you read my progress notes and think about all of the clothes I must have had all over the place, you’re right. As frightening as these past few weeks have been, I finally found the time and a reason to get rid of everything, clothes, shoes, purses, kitchen stuff, basic stuff.
Heading out for my walk soon. It’s a bit windy, but nice enough to get in a quick walk around the block. I have my bandanna ready since we need to have some sort of covering in case we’re not social distancing. A bandanna is good enough for my walk, a mask if/when I decide to go grocery shopping (not there yet).
Later ...

Good evening all. Sitting here watching Game 7 of the 2003 Wild/COL playoff game. Watched game 6 last night. Even tho I watched them live in 2003, it’s so much fun seeing all the old players (this is a 17 yr old game). Brings back so many memories of favorites from years gone by. Kind of my treat to myself, because I don’t think Stan is enjoying it as much!!! Don’t care, told him I was watching it in the living room, he could go watch something in the other room both nights.
We got out and walked 1.22 miles this afternoon. I’ve started stiffening up from sitting around so much. We got that amount of walk and decided it was enough for his knee and my hips/back. We got our fresh air, got some exercise, and Maggie got out and about and she loves it. We even let her drag the leash and run up to the guy next door. He was out working in his driveway. She loves him dearly (he comes to the fence to pet her when she barks at him and his wife does come too. They let her kiss them and they only own cats. But they’ve been like this with all of our dogs).
We went down today and started pulling out the bin of DH’s old toys. Nothing real exciting in there. Sent pictures to older DD. Going to send to the other 2 kids tonight. Still no bids on any of the stuff I have listed. I’ll leave stuff up for a while, maybe adjust some prices, then will just donate some of it.
Joy, I worked at a place called Lynn Rose (45?) years ago and got a good discount. But I don’t have anything from then. Wouldn’t fit. But I too have clothes from 10/12 up to 20. I got rid of a bunch of my 16’s when I lost 2 years ago. I’m praying I can get down now and maybe not need those in the summer. And be lower than them in January if we get to Hawaii. I’ve just decided it will be what it will be. I really applaud you on getting rid of so much stuff. And there has to be someone there who will enjoy those clothes and get some good use out of them.
Dottie, I’m guessing you will be so happy to have this bathroom stuff done for now and then finish it up next winter. Bet your are anxious to get home and get your house opened up and aired out and ready for summer. Will you be able to go to the lake with the kids at all this summer?
going to do some more knitting tonight. Slowly but surely I’m getting a pile of dish cloths done. I’m going to mail Cathy a few because she caught my error on Good Friday. Actually the night before. I started the thread with Weekend Edition, with the dates for Fri/Sat, and then I didn’t even catch it when I put the Good Friday blessings picture as the picture of the day. I was either really tired; or just so far into this not knowing what day of the week it is. Apparently Sandi noticed it and decided not to mention it, but Cathy did, so I fixed it!
Have a good evening and I’ll check in tomorrow!

Joyce, I forgot you had worked at places where you were able to get discounts and good deals on clothes. I’m sure there will be people who will appreciate all of the clothes you are donating. Good to get a walk in even if it was windy out.
Ruth, glad to hear you are enjoying the hockey games. I thought Stan liked hockey also or is he just still having problems with being inside so much. Also good that you could get out and get a walk in. I know that it is important for me to try to walk daily. Are any of Stan’s toys collectable? I will be happy when the bathrooms are finished. When there are workers in the condo it seems to get really crowded. It isn’t like at home where I could always go upstairs to a bedroom or the basement. We are on one floor here. We don’t know what the summer will bring as far as lake time. I’m sure we will be up there some but don’t know how much.
I plan on starting my packing today. I had planned on bringing home a few of my better outfits for the cruise but since the cruise isn’t happening this summer I won’t need to bring those things home. I did buy some things for the grands, but should have plenty of room in my suitcase for everything (I hope). I sent a few pictures of my new shower. We are using the same pattern of tile in the master bath shower.

Good late Sunday morning,
I was up early, but decided to stay in bed and watch YouTube. I watched some of the One World Together event last night and watched more of it this morning. I just had to rewatch The Rolling Stones, and the final rendition of the Prayer with Celine Dion, Andrea Bocelli, Lady Gaga, Lang Lang and John Legend. The Stones were a hoot, the Prayer was very moving.
Dottie - I liked the pic of the shower. I would love a shower like that. I have such a tiny bathroom, one of these days I’ll turn the tub into a shower. Will make more sense as I get older.
Ruth - I haven’t started watching the classics Sabres series yet, glad you are enjoying the Wild games.
Thanks for your comments on my CBing efforts. I know I go on and on, but I’m excited about reaching my July goal.
It’s really windy today, even windier than yesterday. I’m hoping it gets better later this afternoon so I can get in my walk. I’m making banana bread again today. It ends up being 6 points a slice, freezes well, and is nice for breakfast a couple of days a week. Since I’ve been home my weight has been staying pretty much the same, a little gain, a little loss - but with everything that’s going on staying the same is good enough for me.
Enjoy your Sunday

Good Sunday morning all. Dottie, love the shower tiles! You are going to love those showers!!! Joy, you will love having the bigger shower rather than the tub. I love having our tub gone. Right now (until we enlarge the shower) the thing I enjoy the most is the ability to raise the blind every morning w/o risking life and limb to climb into and out of the tub! So much more light!!!
Dottie, you asked if we had taken stuff to DS’s house on Friday. We did. And we got to talk to (from our safe distance) both DS/DIL. She got home from work just as we were unloading everything. We gave them some snack bags of popcorn that Mara loves. They said she would be thrilled because she had just asked for some the night before and they were out. And 99% of what we dropped off had been delivered to our house or into the back of our car. And I know they appreciate the help.
We had a few things sent to Harper & Sawyer and we got to FaceTime with them late yesterday afternoon to see them wearing/using them. We had gotten Sawyer a dress from FrozenII, and she had to model it. We also got them both elbow/wrist/knee guards for roller skating, so we got to watch them do that also. We bought Sawyer’s dress and DD picked up a new pair of skates for Harper that convert from roller skates to roller blades with a change of rollers. That way they both got something new. We also got to see the new deck DSIL is putting on the front of their house for their Adirondack chairs. Gets them up out of the grass/dirt and makes mowing easier. It was wonderful to wake up to the bright sunshine today. It’s windy here too Joy, and that’s keeping it cooler, but will try to get in a late afternoon walk.
Ok, I need to get moving. Need to wash my hair and get a few things done. Then meeting a gal (safely) to pick up some shoes for Mara I purchased. Have a good day all. Will check in tonight.
