Linda, yes, you are staying with the thread. We won't give you up! How was the Night Owls potluck? Cleaver idea! Yes, no calories. You worked hard yesterday. Are you getting a little R&R today?
Happy (former) Pet Parents Day to you, Chele. Do you think you'll get another one some day? I heard from Sis from another mom on Friday evening that they had lost their 20 year old kitty. They think it was a stroke. He was my favorite cat--Maine coon cat--sweet boy and the only cat I wasn't allergic to, despite his being a long hair. I've been texting her the last couple of days because she's having a tough time. Yes, really weird on the Kindle. Getting Amazon on the phone is not that easy. Where did you watch Quicksand? Is it in English or subtitles? We got a Netflix DVD that sounded good and started watching but it was in Swedish with subtitles and we didn't want to spend the entire time reading the screen. How was the coffee cake? Freezing part of it was a good idea so it won't disappear so fast. What's the heat level on Sweet Thing? Which heirlooms did you get? I agree about the number of people not wearing masks. I made a couple more today but need to wait for hair elastics before I can make any more and Amazon has still not shipped mine out.
Denise, I hope your hospital takes good care of you. Do you have a lot of covid cases right now?
How's your weather, Kathy? Did the rain you had do anything for the level of the pond? Have you seen any interesting wildlife recently? There was a segment on Today this morning about wildlife showing up in unusual places right now with everyone staying at home. They ended with a question about whether the animals know things are starting to reopen. What's the status on things reopening in your area? Have you been in contact with any of your former coworkers? I guess they are all working from home full time right now. I know you appreciate not having to deal with that any more.
Becky, I saw the mayor of Dallas on a new show and they have extended their stay at home order in Dallas County. I hadn't seen the Abigail Disney interviews but I totally agree with her. Will you have Tuesday/Thursday PT for now?
Hope you're having a restful weekend, Liz. Are things calming down a bit finally? Our numbers are still climbing here, but we are starting to reopen tomorrow anyway. We're going to stay in seclusion for now until we see how it all settles out.
We have another rainy day. I made in IP of beans and will have them with a baked sweet potato and some veggies for dinner. I listened to an interesting podcast this morning from Zach Bush, MD, who specializes in internal medicine and endocrinology. He has done some research that indicates that non-celiac gluten intolerance is actually a sensitivity to glyphosate (Round Up) and not the gluten itself. I know a lot of people who claim to be gluten intolerant but can eat wheat products without a problem in Europe. He advocates eating only organic wheat products. I've been having some issues this week and I have to wonder now if it was the WW English muffins I have been using as burger buns. I'm really limited on organic options until I can get back to shopping in Knoxville or at Whole Foods. Couldn't even find something on Amazon, at least somethig affordable. I'm not paying $39 for a pack of 8 buns. That's ridiculous. Maybe I'll try to make some this week.
