This is a thread devoted to those in their 50s & 60s and beyond who don't have children or grandchildren but live rich, full lives. Please feel free to join our stroll thru life and come back often for support and to share. **************************************** Since meat supplies are down, I looked for a meatless breakfast recipe this morning. This one is right up my alley, but I think carnivores would enjoy it, too. Vegan breakfast tacos

I thought I would pop in before the governor makes his reopening plan announcement. I have been up since 3:30am. I was having weird dreams but I can’t remember them. I have been having weird dreams for a few days and Iggy says he has, too. Must be something we ate.
I got up and made a pot of tomato sauce for both of us and meatballs for the carnivore. I boiled some red lentil penne for me and regular spaghetti for him. It all turned out good. I also did some cleaning and a workout. Boy, I got out of breath quickly. Time to get back to daily workouts now that my energy is back. I have been waking up with a stiff back so I have to make sire to warmup slowly and do my back stretches after cardio. If I sit for more than15 minutes it stiffens up as well, so I have to work at keeping it loose.
I hope you are all having a good Monday.

Chele, good luck with gaining strength and flexibility again. it sure does go fast. I have seen Articles about how this crisis is setting off a lot of dreams. It sure does not do anything for a person who gets GI issues.
Our closures of nonessential businesses and restaurants expires Friday. governor has not said anything yet, but over time he has become cautious. Our groomer opens again Friday and Micki needs to go the next week.he just will not let me do anything like that safely. Getting hot from extra fur gives him schnauzer bumps and allergy issues. According to models, we should not open up until at least a June. We hit a record 102 yesterday and they are talking 106 Thursday. Blechhhk. So I got myself out early on the west side to finish reburying landscape light cable that got exposed, trimming deadwood from winter on the ficus , Pulling weeds and covering weed cloth under lava Rick...it gets blown around by guys with leaf blowers Periodically. looks nice. Only 85 but worked up quite a sweat. Had nice weather so long the system is not ready for the 5 month misery. Everything went to laundry and me to shower...laundry later. Hope I worked off the lemon pudding cake we had last night. I had not had pudding cake in at least 40 years.

Thanks for the start, Chele. Did you and Linda enjoy the virtual potluck on the other thread? Thanks for the link. I found some really good recipes just on the page that went to for your burritos. One of them called for king oyster mushrooms, which I love. I tried to grow some a couple of years ago but no luck. CSA used to have them but not any more. Might have to figure out something with shiitakes. Did you see the Chickpea Tikka Masala recipe? The Easy Mushroom Risotto also looked good. I hope you didn't wear yourself out with all your activity today. Sounds like moving is the best thing for your back right now. You didn't forget how to cook through your string of maladies. Good job getting in a workout. I've been having strange dreams, too, so it's just not you and Iggy. And, they have nothing to do with staying home, the virus, the economy, or anything else. The ones I remember are just bizarro!
Linda, when do you think your governor will announce the reopening plan? Our plans are out, and about the only thing that can't reopen next week are large venues like concerts, sporting events, and bars. I got an email from Osteo that they will reopen next Monday, so I'll be going back next Thursday. Gyms are also reopening and the staff at Gold's has spread out the machines, so I am thinking about going back there next Thursday as well. Between no Osteo and no lower body workouts at the gym, my knees have not been happy for the past few weeks. Will you be able to drop Micki off without having to go inside the groomer's? I don't know how a solid black dog does itin the heat you have. Bless Micki's furry little soul. I'm amazed you are already over 100 already. Good for you getting th outside stuff done before it got too hot.
I saw some photos of crowded beaches in California, Kathy. I hope they are taking care not to have that occur there. Did you watch Killing Eve? We'll watch it tonight. Is there a new episode of Outlander this week? I haven't had a chance to look. What's on your agenda for the week? What kinds of changes are happening with businesses there?
Becky, we are now all supposed to be wearing masks when we are in public. No fines or jail time like there, but if people aren't complying with sanctions in place there, my guess is they won't do it here with none. Were you able to get out and walk today? How's the foot and ankle doing? Is the knee continuing to heal? Are you glad you had the surgery? I'm not surprised on the amount of the bill. My outpatient surgeries on my feet came to $24K for both and that was relatively minor compared to what you had. I did end up having to pay about $500, however.
How are things going, Liz? Are you feeling that you are getting ahead of the curve? How are things at Gary's work?
Denise, do you work weekdays for the most part? How large is your hospital? How long have you been doing the green plan and how is it working for you? I'm vegan and not doing an official WW plan, but similar to purple. I was hoping we would be on lockdown til mid-May but we have a Republican governor in Trump's back pocket. So Dale and I will still be sticking close to home but will need to venture out a bit more each week, at least until we see if cases start to increase.
Things are starting to open up here in TN, so we'll see where we are in a couple of weeks. Testing is still hit or miss. Cases are still rising, but that may be due to increased testing. I finished up another mask yesterday and I think I like this style better. It has more pieces that need cut out (4 vs. 2), but a bit easier to sew. This style won't work for Dale because he broke his nose multiple times growing up and it doesn't fit him comfortably. It works well for me. Still no elastic hair ties, so I'm pretty much out of the mask making business right now. Please ignore my shaggy hair. I think I'm going to keep it a bit longer now that it has grown out, but I need a trim badly. My stylist should be back open next week so I need to get an appointment. Happy Monday! Hope we all have a good week!

We have to bring the dog in to a little gated entry, sign in and she takes him through the gate. Not going to work at six feet, but three and quick. Problem is you can pick up the virus off fur if someone patted dog. Not sure how long it lingers.
found this “Some of our emails about pets also include questions about whether the virus can survive on fur. Dr. Lynora Saxinger, an infectious disease specialist in Edmonton, says it's possible, but only if there's a substantial amount of the virus on the hands of the pet owner.
"We wouldn't expect that much virus to transfer from fur, so beyond usual precautions I wouldn't worry about it," she says.”

Denise, I am doing more of a Simply Filling type plan. I no longer subscribe to WW. Linda, our groomers don’t have a date for opening but doctor’s offices, dentists and vets are scheduled for May 1. Teddy would let the groomers bathe, cut and clip with no problem but he gave me heck. I don’t blame you for taking Micki for a trim, since he won’t let you do it. Boy, are you sizzling already. The pot luck was fun, Karen, especially the no calories. I haven’t looked at all the recipes on the site yet but I thought you might like it. Did you see the recipe for Air Fryer Kale Chips? You look good in your new mask. Good luck at Osteo and the gym. I assume you will still wear your mask. Waving to Becky, Liz and Kathy. The Ohio reopening plan is phased. May 4 for general offices, although Iggy’s work has not said anything yet. May 1 as mentioned above but also manufacturing and distribution will reopen. May 12 is the date for consumer and retail services. No dates yet for gyms, salons and spas. Still no gatherings over 10 people and masks must be worn indoors but not required for outside. Iggy and I will not be changing our routine no matter what. I took the risk of going to the doctors’ offices because I had to, but I won’t be risking anything besides grocery shopping until at least June.

texasless91, I work weekdays at the hospital its a 288 bed hospital. What state are you in? Our governor is letting services like lawn service start things that are low risk. Ive been on the green plan for a year now I like it cause you get 30 pts a lot of points so that's nice.

Chele, thanks for the start. Publix seems to have plenty of meat, but a lot of it is Publix brands, so it's probably coming from Florida. I've also had some weird dreams, including one where my car wouldn't respond properly and was heading off the side of a bridge! That one stuck with me. I think it's all the anxiety we're going through.
Linda, you stay cooler a bit longer than us, but then you zoom up to the 100s. I went to put the trash bin out and was surprised that it felt cool. It's around 70 right now and going down into the 60s tonight.
Denise, I'm on the Purple plan and doing online only. WW has a 1/2 price deal for a year or 6 months going on through June. The link is on the board somewhere. If you're interested, I'll dig it up for you. Florida has allowed lawn services as essential businesses. It would be a jungle here otherwise! That makes sense to me though since they are outside and don't interact with anyone else.
Karen, they have already reopened some of the beaches, but people are supposed to be social distancing and not having cookouts or sunbathing. I watched new episodes of Outlander and Killing Eve yesterday. Both were good. Lots of grocery ordering is on the agenda since DM wants an order and my fridge is close to empty! We've been staggering the orders, but apparently she didn't get that memo. They're supposed to announce what will be reopening later this week. Our stay at home order ends on Thursday. I'm leery of rushing back into places right when they reopen and will probably lay low for a while and see how the numbers go.
Liz, hope things might be calming down a bit for you.
Becky, that's great that they paid 100% of the surgery! Hope you were able to get out and walk today.

Chele Thanks for the start. You have been busy.I know what you mean about feeling stiff after a few minutes.I hope your governor was more cautious than ours was.
Linda Our governor is letting our stay at home order expire on Thursday.Restaurants can open at no more than 25% occupancy.Malls can open as well as libraries and museums but no hands on.These are guidelines and nobody has to follow these orders.I will continue to wear a face mask at the grocery store and Walmart. They already said doctors can do elective surgeries starting last week and retail curbside opened up Friday. Now evidently you can go into retail stores starting 5/1.
Denise I am doing WW online only as well but doing the blue plan trying to continue to maintain my weight loss.
Karen Good looking mask.I did walk this afternoon but it was 89 and very windy. My foot/ankle still hurts.I am glad I had the surgery. The recovery is taking longer than I expected but they still say I'm way ahead of schedule so I guess that's good.I get frustrated with my turtle speed when I walk but it will come I'm sure. The reason I was so surprised at the bill was because I was only in the hospital 24 hours.Bastrop County cases are up 8 between Friday and today but they are still doing a controlled open.
