Whether you are regular poster or a lurker, we encourage you to talk with us. We do talk about books, but also about our lives, and Weight Watchers. We are women who are spread around the country, and eventually you will learn you we are, and what books we like to read.Don't be intimidated, just pop in and tell us who you are, and what you are reading now.
This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year old board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

Good morning. Our beautiful weather has started, as of yesterday afternoon. We will have 3 days of gorgeous weather, then back to the chilly 50's for a week.
Marsha, I don't know if you saw it, but you started a turkey craze! Lol, seems as some other people are having turkey this weekend. I would have loved to, but it is too late to get one and thaw it out. I might go get one anyway, and do it next week when it is supposed to be not so nice. I may even do the Stove Top Robin mentioned! I saw that too about the Police and I also saw the list of companies that it included and I see Hanson's was on it too! They are also testing at the Resch center too.
Anngie, thank you. We are all happy that she was negative. Our county is now the hotspot of the state. Pretty sad, when you think that Milwaukee county and Madison's Dane county are bigger than our county. Guess it will take the whole month, like the Governor mandated, to get to a point where they can think of slowly opening. I have heard that before, about building up an immunity. We need to have it. I will be hoping and praying you can get your procedure as planned!!
Carol, thank you. Yes, we are all relieved, to say the least. That is one thing, when thinking about past things, that I regret, as I was never one to make a meal to take to someone. I was thinking of DB the other day, and how I regret tremendously, not making meals for him, even though for the most part, he was able to get food, and did have quite a bit of food in his little kitchen. I am sure having a homecooked meal would have been so much better for him, so I regret that. I am not bothering covering up my roots, as I can't see them yet. What I can see, is on the sides of my face, there the grey is showing. It is what it is. Carol I agree with you, I am the same way, I like having someone with me. A lot of the time I can wing it myself, like yesterday just running to Walgreens, no big deal.
Gareth, didn't yesterday turn out great?! Still breezy up here, so I walked in the house, at least I got 60 minutes done. Thank goodness DH went hunting! I ran to Walgreens yesterday and did what you do, keep my debit card in my pocket. There sure are some empty shelves there, in their aisles for the Pepcid I needed, and some other things. Thank you, about my DD, yes, we are very relieved. Did you read about that Broadway actor that is so sick with the virus? My goodness, for a younger man, he lost a leg, and now his lungs are in such horrible shape, he is not expected to survive, and they can't wake him up. A very sad case.
Robin, aw, I bet she is so precious!!! When they are that tiny, that is all I want to do, is hold them! A picnic sounds perfect for them, I bet they go for that. I have not heard that theory about the meat plants, I thought I heard it was because they have to be so close together. I like the idea of having the Stove Top with the turkey, and of course I have to add my own ingredients to it, so I think I will look for a turkey this weekend to do next week, as it will be a chilly and at times rainy week, perfect for warm comfort foods. And DH and I love the turkey casserole I make afterwards.
Pinky, hope you aren't TOO busy, and can stop in and say Hi! Hi to you!!
I got my shoes late yesterday, tried them on and both pairs fit like a glove!!!!! I am beyond happy!!! Thank you all for all of your advice about the shoes!!! I just have to get used to wearing shoes in the apartment. I sure could have used them yesterday when I did my walking in the apartment, as my legs suffered last night.
Curb side pick up tonight of fish, as Friday night fish fries are a standard here in Wisconsin. We found a Super Club just a few miles down the road from us that make heavenly fish, and I ordered the steamed cod the last time and was in love! I get tired of eating fish with batter as some places go a little bit over board with all that coating so I always look for baked or steamed fish on the menu. Up a pound this week, so I really have to put my foot down and work harder this week.
Still reading Winter in Paradise, it is ok, but I can see it is not holding me for long, I tend to wander off and check FB or the headlines in the news, so not the best reading, for me.
Have a nice day everyone.

Hello all. No news (as per usual). I finished the latest Lucas Davenport. Always a reliably good read. I downloaded News of the World. Has anyone read it? I don't know how it got on my list. I'm not excited about it. And the audio book I have is not grabbing me so I think I'll dump that one too. I hate book slumps.
I have a bit of a list of things to try to accomplish this weekend. We will see what gets done. Definitely time to clean up after the dog in the yard!
I think I may be done with my 30 day plank challenge. The ap wouldn't let me go back to redo the last day, and so today was 80 seconds and I couldn't even make it 40. Tomorrow is probably 85 and I doubt I'll be able to do that. Maybe I'll start over with 10!

This may be short since I'm waiting for DH to get home from work and then we'll walk. Going to be another nice day in the 70's. Supposed to be really nice through the weekend. Even close to 80Âş tomorrow.
When I went to HyVee yesterday they'd changed things around a little since last time I was there. I went in the door I always go in to find out it's just used as an exit now. I had to be careful and follow the arrows on the floor. Seemed like everywhere I wanted to go was the wrong way. Social distancing was ok it seemed with other customers but not so much with the employees. Seemed like everything I wanted an employee was stocking and/or in the way so I didn't get everything I wanted. They'd also rearranged where some things were too or were out of what I wanted.
DH wanted salad from Wendy's so I picked that up for lunch. Then I worry too just how safe is that if an employee has the virus. I could drive myself crazy if I think about it too much or watch too much TV about it.
Karen, glad the shoes fit! Yes, I've been following about the broadway star. So sad.
Robin, I really don't think Stovetop is all that bad on points. I never add the called for butter which saves points.
Carol, it was a lot easier than I expected letting my hair go natural with the help of my hairdresser. She somehow colored or highlighted it so it grew out looking ok. My natural color was better than I ever expected. I've actually had compliments on it and even have been asked if it's colored. I was one that never ever thought I could go without color.

Gareth - I saw an interview (or maybe read an article) which was addressing the issues of infected people working at the food processing facilities and they said there is no concern with getting sick from eating meat processed by one of those people because this is respiratory and has to be passed to mucus membranes - nose primarily, eyes, mouth - and if you consume the virus the stomach acid will destroy it. I'm sure that would apply to your Wendy's salad.

Marsha, it's the packaging that concerns me not the food itself.
We're postponing our walk until this afternoon. It's clouded up and the weather map shows rain all around us. Clearing off this afternoon.

DH is at work today. He only stayed home one day this week.
It is really unbelievable the number of people who tested positive from the meatpacking places. A nearby county which is considerably smaller than ours has had close to 100 people test positive from working and being a resident of a nursing home. I just feel so sorry for the people there and not being able to have visitors. One thing I have noticed is people post things on Facebook and don't realize their information is old. For instance, today someone posted an article about how it wasn't necessary to wear masks. Well, what the poster didn't realize or maybe ignored was that the article was from March and now it is thought that masks do help.
It's warm today and a little windy. Tomorrow is supposed to get up to 90 and even hotter in west Texas.

Gareth, you convinced me, maybe I will add some butter. Let's see if I even do it, DH will probably think I'm nuts, but maybe I will doctor it up with celery and onions, maybe even nuts! That is if I can find the kind of turkey I want. Maybe I will suggest to DH that he smokes the turkey.
Karen, so glad those shoes fit so well. Oops, got to take a quick break to look at Maddie pictures. My DH is getting an iPhone so he doesn't get left out of the photo stream.
Then I got sidetracked with other things, so not sure what's up. I have to get the mushrooms and salad stuff I need for tomorrow. Looks like we will have great weather, so our 5:00 drink will work out great outside, it should be 70 degrees. DH is going to make mini white clam pizzas. He is getting stressed out by what is going on now with work, mainly because he doesn't have the 2nd person to shove things off on.
Marsha I read News of the World. I personally didn't love it, not a fast reading book, slow going at the best of times.
It looks like it is raining again. I will have something to eat, get a little more work done, and see what's happening.

Marsha, the workers are passing it one to the other. I think when the food is cooked, there definitely is not an issue. I am a bit concerned about salads, although they do say that is not how it is passed from one to the other, I am not sure they honestly know all about it. It is not like something like E-Coli.
Carol, I assume that while your DH works he is able to stay far enough away from his co-workers to stay safe.
Again, I got sidetracked. Looking to get out of here soon.

DH works at a community college. Most of the classes are on-line now. It is mostly administrators there now. There is enough unused space right now that they can spread out all over campus.
Last year when DH's phone died, he got an Android instead of an IPhone. I'm not really sure why he did that since the whole family has IPhone.

After a rainy day today we should have a few sunny days around 70. Can’t wait, really. Cute thing here that I’m watching - we live on a cul de sac and I just watched a dad and his two daughters get out of their car (they live around the corner on a busy road) pull two bicycles out of the back and they’re riding around and around. So cute!
Karen, glad those shoes fit so well. You’ll be wearing them all day before you know it. I am seldom barefoot except maybe in the summer. How is DD? Has the doctor figured out what it is?
Marsha, now I want to cook a turkey! It’s really one of my favorite meals. And Stovetop isn’t all that bad.
Gareth, don’t drive yourself crazy over this! You’ll become a recluse! I would not worry about a container - but I would worry if someone sneezed near me in line at the store!
Robin, didn’t you just melt when you held her for the first time!? Can you tell what color her eyes could be! Sometimes it’s pretty obvious. Did you happen to hear about the issue here with the nursing homes?! OMG. What the news said was nursing homes were instructed not to turn away any Covid-19 positives and that’s why there are so many nursing home deaths. The question was, why weren’t these patients brought to the convention center or to the USS Comfort. I know it’s old fashioned, but for each of my grandsons I bought a small “grandmother” photo album and ordered pictures from my phone.
Carol, that’s one thing I’ve found that I don’t like about FB. It’s hard to tell, sometimes, what’s old or even if it’s true.

I'm completely amused about everyone making turkey now! So glad I put the leftovers in the freezer for "later". And that happened to be a baggie labeled 2 meals for 2 people so it was enough for all 3 of us.

Marsha, you are such a trend setter! If I ever get these Blue Apron meals cooked, DH doesn't want one today either, I don't know why but I guess doesn't want me to cook, I will do that turkey. I had to shop for the mushrooms and other things I needed for my salad for tomorrow, and looked to see if they had any turkeys. I am sure I will find frozen around, but they didn't have fresh.
Karen, I have never had a wild caught turkey, I wonder if they are different from the fresh turkeys. I know that farm raised venison is different from fresh killed deer.
Anngie, I did hear that, but haven't really paid that much attention, too many other things going on. The Mercy was sent back. I now have to read up on this. I don't think the deaths in the nursing homes are tied to that as much as the fact that people are coming in and out, and a lot of the workers in the nursing homes are people who live with others in close quarters. We did have a rainy morning, but now it is warm and sunny.
