Welcome to the CLUTTERBUSTERS thread. We are a daily thread, Monday thru Friday, and we have a combined weekend edition Saturday and Sunday. We welcome new members and are a friendly, helpful and supportive group.
Our purpose is for support and sharing of tips and strategies in dealing with weight and clutter issues in our lives. Many feel that the two are often tied together. So, we will lend a caring ear, and hopefully give and learn tips to help all of us.
We want to remove at least 5 items or spend at least 15 minutes clutter busting today!
Remember, it didn't pile up in one day so it isn't going away in a day either. One organizer says: you don't have to stop everything to get organized, you just have to start somewhere.

Good morning,
I had the nicest day yesterday. Weather was rainy in the morning and early afternoon. The phone rang and even though I didn’t recognize the number I knew that a lot of doctors offices were calling from home to reschedule appointments. I answered and it was one of my teammates from my old job. I hadn’t talked to him in over 4 years. He was one of my go to guys and was just reaching out to people he hadn’t talked to just to say Hi. He told me he finally got married last year, he told me about his 2 sons and what they were up to. His oldest works in a hospital, tested positive for Covid, was out of work for 2 weeks but was back and was doing fine. We caught up on other guys that used to work with us, who left, who was still there. He asked about me, made sure I was ok. We spent almost an hour on the phone. It was so good to hear from him, totally surprised. He is turning 62 this year and is going to retire. He said he was starting to think about it and with all that’s going on decided that life is too short.
After dinner I decided to go for my walk. It cleared up nicely. As I rounded the corner I saw some lights and thought the police were out. Nope, it was a birthday parade. The cars were turning down the street I was walking down. First was a bus with a happy birthday banner, and a sound system playing happy birthday. Followed by 17 cars full of family and friends, some decorated, some with kids just holding signs wishing Emma a happy 6th birthday. I crossed the street when I realized the birthday girl was standing at the end of her drive. She was jumping up and down, cars honking their horns, and the last 3 vehicles were the village fire trucks. I wished I had my phone with me, even more I wished I had Kleenex with me. By the time I walked by her house tears were streaming down my face. This little girl was so happy, I was in a good place.
Sorry for the long post. I just wanted to share things that make me happy.
I’ll be back later.

Joyce, your day yesterday was very special. I’m sure Emma was a very happy little girl and I’m sure I would have needed my Kleenex also. I think and hope parents realize that kids don’t need some of those expensive birthday parties, just a chance to recognize the birthday boy/girl big day.
Waving to Ruth, hope you are doing OK.
Busy morning. I made brownies to bring up to DS#1 and his family. I have several boxes of things to bring up to them. I don’t know if we will go tomorrow or Monday. I ran out to get a few things this morning and was somewhat successful. I wanted to stop by Sam’s (about 5 min. from my house) but the line was so long I just skipped going there. I can go Monday morning, I’m sure it will be less crowded and hopefully fully stocked. Bill is very busy in his office/spare room. He has a shopping bag of paper to recycle and about 3” of paper to shred. He only put the sheets of paper with our names, SSN and account #’s in the shred pile, the rest just went to recycling. I need to start on some of our old medical records. I have them separated by years so can just get rid of the oldest year and start a new file for 2020.

Good afternoon. Bright sunshine today, with lots of wind. Stan went out and did a little mowing, although he said the grass really didn’t need it yet. Apparently on this day (can’t remember how many years ago) we had snow that covered everything! So glad that’s not this year! Praying it won’t be!!!
Didn’t sleep well last night so slept in way late this morning. Bad habit I have to get out of. Going to run to the grocery store and not sure what else. Will try to get in a walk. Back is really hurting, wondering if it’s the way I slept.
Joy, there are a LOT of those birthday drive-by’s going on around here too. A friend had one for her DD’s 8th birthday. And DS Carol’s oldest, her DD, got one for her 40th birthday. It was to replace her planned trip to New York with friends to celebrate. Carol said it was fun to participate in! I think I’d need Kleenex also. They are so moving to watch. We have had similar things recently for cancer survivors, kids with cancer, etc. People are doing what they can to make these people feel special.
Dottie, I should bake something and take to our in-town kids. Will you get to see them, or just drop it off and not be with the grands? We could travel to LaCrosse to see older DD’s family, but 3 hrs each way is a lot for an hour visit or less. We got to see Mara for about 5 min on a FaceTime yesterday. She wasn’t sure what to think of it and wouldn’t sit still; but she smiled big when she heard our voices, so she hasn’t forgotten us!! That was nice to know.
I started photographing the 5’s clothing and need to finish that up today so I can get the stuff put back in a bin and back on the shelves. I want to get outside and enjoy the beautiful tho windy day. Tomorrow is to be not quite as warm but not as windy either.
Have a great day everyone. Will check in later on.

Good Sunday morning,
Woke up to a warm sunny morning. It’s about time that the temps are in the 50s when I wake up.
Today I have kitchen and bathroom cleaning on my agenda. I have to get the kitchen organized for my Instacart delivery on Tuesday. I’m still not ready to venture to the grocery store yet. My DB told me if I do go, shop in the evening. Less people. I took an inventory of my freezer now that they are talking about a meat shortage. I have enough to last me a couple of months. I bought well early on. I mostly shop for fruits and veggies, milk, and ingredients for recipes. And I still have plenty of canned beans and sauce ... yeah, I could go until July without needing meat. I feel good about that.
My Fitbit liked me this week, I was able to get a walk in every day. Not back to 8000 steps yet, working on it. My morning routine is feeling pretty much like my old normal. Now I have to work on the evenings. Once I’ve cleaned up after dinner I sit on the recliner and pretty much watch tv all night. I used to get in 3000 steps or more at work every day, now barely anything after 6pm.
Enough for now. Later ...

Joyce, that is great that you have so much food stored. I find that even going shopping in mid afternoon means there will be some empty shelves. Once I get most of the things I need, I won’t go shopping every few days the way I have to now. Great job on all of the walking you are doing.
Ruth, we just drove up to DSs house and dropped the stuff off for them. We were at their exit by 10:45 but couldn’t go to the house because DGDs pre-school was doing a drive by, they were late, but we just waited in a parking lot till we could go to their house. DS came out as we were leaving and said that when the weather cooperates we can try to do an outside get together. Their yard is plenty big to be 6’ apart, they have 1 ½ acres. I find doing Face Time with the boys (7 and 10) better than doing it with DGD (4), she just doesn’t get it completely and keeps leaving the screen area.
We are heading to the airport in 30 minutes. The couple in Florida that took us to the airport (they live down the street from us in Florida and Connecticut) comes home today. I’m sure the flight will be on time so the trip should take us about an hour. I need to do a few things around the house and then dinner. The ride really tired me out – just not used to being in the car for that long. Bill was out in the yard for a little while yesterday but the ground is soggy. There are still puddles in the back of the yard. Part of the problem is there aren't many leaves on the trees yet. Once the trees get leaves they absorb a lot of that water. It is supposed to be clear weather for most of the week but the nights will be in the 30s.

Good evening all. Joy, you were due for some nice weather!! Glad to hear you are getting back on a schedule that you like. You are all set for meat by the sounds. I don’t have a freezer anymore big enough to stock up like that. We gave our small chest freezer to older DD. We try to get to the store about once a week to 10 days. We’re in a smaller town and not super worried. Maybe should be more worried than I am, who knows!!
Dottie, did they buy first and then you did or vice versa? Are they good friends or just neighbors?
Nice that you got to drop off the things at DS’s. Have you seen DS#2 since you have been back?
I really didn’t get much accomplished this weekend. My back is still bothering me so I didn’t even try to walk. Don’t know if it’s from sitting too much or what. I think I need to start doing some stretching exercises that older DD has sent me a link for. I did get laundry done today. And you all know how much I like to recycle and that we sell our aluminum cans. And that I’d been picking them up on walks. Well yesterday Stan came home and told me that he’d found a mother load of cans. He thought it was a couple 12 packs of Coors Lite cans. So today we went over so I could pick them up. Turns out it was 32 of 36 cans - nearly 3 packs worth! And there were 2 cans that had not been opened up at all. Not sure why they dumped those! Anyway, he didn’t tell me there were shrubs with thorns in the ditch, so I got a little scraped up. And ended up with blood and beer both on my clothes. But I came home and after emptying the cans that had some liquid still in them, I changed clothes and got all cleaned up too. I’ll do a lot to get more cans!! I could raid my kids’ recycling but I won’t! And I can’t get them to sort out the aluminum! Guess I should just be happy they recycle!
ok, going to make a to do list for tomorrow and hope I can get it done. It’s to rain tomorrow so a good day to work inside.
More tomorrow!
