Today is back to the BASICS and keeping the day Simple! It's Sunday - and in reflection, Sundays used to be such a rushed, hurried day for me. I always had laundry to finish for the Work Week, groceries to buy, meals to plan, and a large meal to cook in order to have left overs for week ahead. It was exhausting after long days at work the week prior, AND knowing Monday would start it all over again...TODAY is different. I don't have to rush. I don't have work clothes in the laundry. I don't have to run errands to hurry and prepare for the upcoming week. It's a huge difference I've been reading a lot about how our lifestyles COULD change for the better due to lessons learned from Stay at Home orders. Now if I can just get my DD23 launched, life would be even better LOL I TRACKED my breakfast and lunch. Each day I've been focused on making a good healthy salad again for lunch. For a long time I had convinced myself I was 'sick of salad' but that has to change. Slowly getting there. I was recalling the older WW with their push for including so many servings of Fruits and Veggies and realizing I had shifted more towards focusing on protein and low carbs and not focusing on F&Vs Let's see if this week can be tweaked with that mind-set.

Yesterday was a great day for ACTIVITY! I finally got myself outside - it was still cool out but no cares, I needed to tackle the weeds and at least make a dent! I worked for 3 hours focusing on front of the house and around one side. Today they are calling for SUNSHINE and temps near 60 so I will get back outside and focus on back of house. So much to do and enjoying every minute! DH offered to help me!!! I could use some help - especially with edging the wooded lot area. Like our Sue mentioned, the grass creeped right into and over what was once a clean edge. Oh, Gary went into work yesterday from Noon - 4:00 (wow, I thought he was only going for an hour or so) and yes, sold a car. The commission will be considered "bonus" next month since this is so low - he usually sells 10-15 cars a month, not 1 He shared he did wear his mask the whole time and boy, was it HOT being in and out of sealed cars to drive around to Showroom for customer to look at...it was definitely unusual and he was NOT liking it, lol Yesterday our neighbors held a Graduation ceremony for Logan (my Girls grew up with her) - she earned her BS in Education from the same college as Carly, so we loaned her Carly's cap and gown, stole, Cum Laud braid, and she added her Sorority ribbon. Logan held a huge bouquet of flowers and was presented (Carly's red Degree folder) while everyone honked horns, cheered, and waved from around the yards/street. We are planning the same for our Linds next Saturday (weather permitting) and again Sunday for Abby (also a neighbor). Lindsey just doesn't know yet. LOL We'll play Pomp & Circumstance from speakers, then have a champagne toast!

Sue - how great to have the windows open! We did same yesterday but had to write ourselves a note to turn furnace back on for night time lol (it can dip below 68 pretty quick) - love days when it's warmer outside than inside! Eager to have days like that here - hopefully, "one more week" of the 40s and snow, sleet, cold rains then we can move forward! Yep, the nicer weather definitely makes us all impatient. No lie, we are going from WINTER to SUMMER and skipping a Spring! What a clever idea to offer Lacey the slate from Carole's! Hmmm, now to figure out how to get it to her. And the idea of offering some Virtual and others in Person is a good thought from Gabrielle! How funny Hannah had to correct her Mom on Anniversary years (FB post) but didn't her and Shea secretly marry prior to his military assignment? Then had a much later blessing ceremony? Which one does Hannah count?
Gabrielle - good job on the hard run - I'm going to remind myself what you said, that the tough days make us stronger! What a great motto especially during these times. So glad to hear DS20 is getting out to hike and do the trails with a friend. Last night Carly joined friends for an outdoor fire - plenty of space to social distance AND she took her mask. We really should take pictures to tell our grandchildren how we are surviving this Pandemic. I read about CA Governor being upset with Newport Beach and other beaches - folks are just so eager to return to life as they knew it! But he's right, NOW is not the time. We are still waiting for our PA Governor to work out the details of a Yellow Phase - more to come. We all want a list of businesses that can reopen - and oh man, the mean angry attacks on ANY politician are truly horrible. I agree. The stress of it all can bring out a lot of ugliness!
Jo - oh no! Sorry DH built shade over your one sunny spot only to not even use it! UGH - I would get a chaise lounge and place it smack in the sun part of the yard. We actually do this but it's a hassle to bring it back on patio before Mowing or when not using. I like Sue's idea of placing the lounge chair on our Deck - we have a decent size deck but our outdoor patio set is a HUGE dinner table which is nice when entertaining but not for everyday use...it's just big. Last year I put off placing the table outside and just set up chairs, little end tables and a foot rest. But then the Girls complained they couldn't host Game night outside with out the table - sigh, make up your minds!! LOL
Shelly - gotta admit, your poor pup being attacked by the coyote really upset me too! Aww, poor Spanky - I feel traumatized for both your dogs! So glad to hear they are recovering - but still. We have coyotes IN THE SUBURBS and yep, they 'steal' small dogs even in front of the owners! (not from a leash, but the owner was on his deck and witnessed) Good to hear you have warmer temps in your area. At least SOMEONE is enjoying warm weather (oh, Jenny is, that's right) Hope today can be a Day of Rest for you!!
Okay - looking to heat up a leftover fritita I made yesterday (cut in half) and will have it with cantaloupe/blueberries. Then will pre-make my healthy salad for lunch and have it ready for later. Keep your SUNDAY Simple everyone! We deserve it...

Mornin' Christine - Thanks for starting us off this morning! Been up for about an hour - feeling lazy... Zoë and Grampa are playing games and waiting to get outside!! Up to 58 (already) and sun is shining ☼ going to be another nice day!!
Never did get back here yesterday - WHEW We had a long tiring day outside!! I got patio cushions out - nice to air them out a bit... moth ball smell from winter storage! LOL Then I started what I thought was a "quick" job... ended up taking most of the morning - very TIRING work... hauling bricks out from under the porch! LOL They were not "in the way", but NOW I can get my lattice attached to the porch to COMPLETE the look!
I have a landscaping guy coming Tuesday to give me a quote for hauling topsoil into our yard and just "leveling" it out! I am pretty sure I will not convince Ken to spend the money - but MAN I am so sick of walking through the yard and tripping on hills or falling in ruts!!
I did contact a roofer yesterday - we'll see if they get back to me... and I will call the solar guy Monday.
I think today I will get a notebook going to keep all these people separate and know who's coming when!
We ended up with wraps for dinner, form the local pizza place. It just reopened, and need to give them a try! Pretty good - and so much easier than cooking at that point!
Let me head back to yesterday... see who was around...♥

Hey Sue... oh I hope you warmed up yesterday- we surely did! I had windows open - and just loved the fresh warm air... first time this season!! (tomorrow back to rain)
I hope Ken gets my new clothesline up today - so next nice day I can dry clothes out there!!
OH Sue... I must have forgotten to tell you all - the solar guy DID call me... but I was on a work call, so it went to voicemail! Not my answering machine - but the backup Verizon voicemail... so I will call him tomorrow... this working from home is getting in the way of getting my things done around here! LOL
Oh yes, and NOW... my niece's EX is also collecting Unemployment, with the "extra"... so he is able to pay more of his back child support... I.Just.Can't.!
OH yes Sue, I love my porches... "trying" to get another one on the front of the house... we have a small "landing", but it needs to be replaced, so I wan to "expand" and replace! We won't put a roof on it - but will invest in one of those sunsetter awnings that we can put out when we want and pull in when we don't... yes - we can dream ♥
Jo: UGH to DH putting a roof over your swing!! OH I love to use the hot tub during lunch when the SUN is SHINING... works on my tan as I relax in the tub .
Sue: Ken took the car to work after lunch yesterday - to grab a few things... but Zoë wanted to go - so we walked down - beautiful day - but then drove home.. she LOVED having the windows down and the sun roof opened... so did I! OH new masks? I keep looking at some on line - because I think even when I go back to work, I won't be surprised if I still need one... but hesitant to buy them... a friend is making me some for the girls... child size...
YAY for your stimulus check... yeah ours is in the savings - waiting - still not convinced I won't need it next year tax time!
LOL Zoë is already back out in the sandbox!! She loves playing on the patio - in the sun... didn't even want to get dressed - but I convinced her it was better to be in shorts than a nightgown!
HA! I opted NOT to paint... I'd prefer to be outside these days... I will make sure it gets done - soon - but not this weekend!
Well the next time I get to do a road trip maybe I will load my slate and hit PA on the way to wherever we are going... still hoping for TN, in July - but kind of giving up on that idea... By the time we find out we CAN travel - I am sure I won't be able to book it!
Gabrielle: YES stay off the trails with poison oak! YAY for getting your run in and done... sorry it was a tough one... but yes it does probably make you stronger in the end! {{{hugs}}}
Oh I Hope our medical things start opening up soon...
Thanks - we had a great day yesterday, and a good night last night. She doesn't settle down as well these days... her at home bedtime routine got all out of whack, and it is overflowing to here I'm afraid.
Oh no, the idea of Tracy spending time with Patti & Zoë was ALL HER IDEA! I would never have mentioned it - because IF I say it she won't want to do it! LOL
I didn't realize Tahoe was still "open"... how odd!!
Do you make your own cauliflower pizza?? We have done it - but it is SOOO much WORK!
Did you get your meal planning done for the week?? What's on your menu?? I need ideas again! With never leaving the house (practically) and not hearing others talk about "what's for dinner"... I am getting really BAD at thinking of what to do!!

Christine - YES, back to basics and keeping it SIMPLE! Hey it's funny, I still have my load of laundry to do... also want to change my sheets... so there's another load... no biggie though - not rushing to do ANYTHING today! Pulled a nice steak for dinner - maybe on the grill!
Another 8 out of 10 dots yesterday and over 9k steps! I am FEELING something! LOL Nothing BAD... it's an ache from being up and down - on hands and knees - then pulling the wagons full of bricks... nothing to worry about - but feeling it! We have another gal who wants to come get bricks... so I wanted them all on the driveway side of the house - so strangers don't have to truck through our whole yard... she better come today! LOL
Good idea - thanks for the reminder... I think even though it will create more dirty dishes - I WILL get some salads prepped and ready for the week! I also need to pull chicken, and HB eggs!
WOOO HOO for Gary!! YAY to the sale, and YAY for having him gone for the afternoon! Maybe now that he sold his "first" it will make it easier for him to head in when they will let him??? OH and he helped edge the lawn???
Gosh your neighborhood sounds like so much FUN! YAY to celebrating the graduations with everyone! HA! Yes, I came down this morning to a fairly chilly house! We forgot to turn the heat back up! NO worries 0 it warmed up quickly, with the pellet stove going... but now door is open again as Zoë is out there - she loves her outside time!!

OK Time to tackle my day... will pull chicken so it can thaw and cook overnight in crock pot... will mention IP for eggs to Tracy... she usually does them each week... need to make a produce list for DH to order tomorrow with their store produce order... cantaloupe sounds good to me right now! Maybe some fresh strawberries - not native but still yummy - asparagus - zucchini... wish I had some of it right now! LOL
I will take my menu pad outside and try to figure out a menu for the week!
Keep it SIMPLE today my friends... in this weird time of our lives, the best thing we can do for ourselves is keep it simple - stay safe - and take care of ourselves ♥hugs♥

Morning all...was up about 7:20, got coffee...got text from DC Carol and chatted with her for an hour...got more coffee then hit the Sunday ZOOM chat, tossed in some laundry, opened up some windows and now time to join all of you for a bit.... No real plans for the day, just a little prepping for the week but nothing major so I have a lazy day on tap!! Not sure what I might get into later??
Gabrielle...glad you got your run in before the crowds of people so up...hopefully there will be some sort of social distancing so that the governor doesn't close more things back down....PA the governor is on at 1:00-2:00pm around here I think...I never see it or hear it live, I usually just get the rerun of the "high points"! OH MY....definitely do not want to get a case of poison oak....that would definitely add "insult to injury" during this time!!
We have a cleaning service at work that comes every day and when the COVID thing hit they added some additional deep cleaning services and sanitizing services but it's still the same service that has been in our building for probably 10 years now.....we are all responsible for our own "desk space" and they cleaning crew does not dust or clean desk since we all have files, papers, etc and they don't want to disturb or possibly misplace things. I don't mind....I clean my mouse, keyboard, phone, etc daily with a Thieves wipe that I made a couple weeks ago....just grab a couple and give everything a wipe down at the end of my day......
Gabrielle...my DM is doing OK with limited interaction with people...the staff brings her meals and helps her get ready to start the day and same at night....and Jim brings her meds every 3 days but that's it. Annie actually sent a couple pictures of her with her new glasses....and I could see the card table in the background with a puzzle set up so she is entertaining herself with that. Glad your DM is reaching out to friends on the phone.
Oh...speaking of DM....when Annie sent the pictures of her new glasses she gave us an update on mom's vision....well, apparently the macular degeneration that was "stealing her sight" according to Kris is very mild and not really an issue with the current vision....she just needed new glasses and has 20/25 vision.....one more thing that Kris fabricated over the years portraying DM as this sickly, fail, declining woman....again, TX was the best thing that could have happened for her....getting away from Kris and her sabotaging of DM's health and well-being! DM is moving more, eating better and seeming more like her old self....yes, she is still DM, that won't change, but her health and wellness has improved greatly!! Surprisingly her pain seems to be under control on her prescribed dose....while it is still WAY more than she should be on, it is still the prescribed dosages and she can't over-medicate any more because she only has what the "doctor ordered".....
Yes Gabrielle...I think in 12 years Hannah and Shea have been together for their anniversary 3 times. They have gotten used to that!! Who knows what Lacey might do moving forward to get back up and painting as normal but a hybrid version of "in person" and ZOOM is an idea....if she doesn't mention it, I'll have to say something...great idea!!

Good Morning
Yes 165 trucks is a lot of trucks and it only takes a second to weight them and then they are on their way. What slows me up is the cash sales, because I have to create a new order and run the visa card and that can take up to 10 min, meanwhile everyone is talking to me on the CB and want to be weighed on the scales, by 2:00pm I was ready for them to go home.
Today we are going to go to DH parents home just to check up on them and bring them a subway sandwich and sit outside if it's not raining to much, it is his 89th birthday today and the guy still splits wood by himself. He doesn't look 89.
OK gotta run for now I will CBL

Thanks for starting us off Christine...back to basics it is!!! I'm sure those of you at home are feeling Sundays are different without rushing to get ready for the work week....to me, it's pretty much the same as always....yes, my weekends are less hectic than usual these days but not because of my usual prepping and planning but because we have no baseball taking up part or all of a day on the weekend....so I guess mine are more "low key" but it's not the work thing....just no "extra activities" for the boys to attend. I think a lot of people will find that they will change their lifestyles after this is over....I know so many things like reconnecting with family and friends, getting out and taking walks & hikes with family, slowing down and not always having to do something....I think people my find a way to "stop and smell the roses" a little more often!!
Christine...salads can be so versatile....yes, a regular salad can get boring after a while but if you can change up the toppings, proteins, etc you can actually have a different salad every day....start with the basic greens and build from there!! Hope the shift to my F&V helps out this week!!
YAY for getting out in the yard yesterday and getting things cleaned up!! Definitely take Gary up on the offer for help....edging is a perfect task for him!! So glad Gary got to work and sold a car...no, 1 car is NOT that same as the usual 10-15 but it's a start and he can see that "virtual car shopping" can work!! LOL, I can imagine he doesn't like it but unfortunately, it will be his reality for a while I think!! Yes, hoping for sure that the warm weather is finally on the horizon but I have a feeling you are right that we will go from winter to summer....this has been anything BUT a normal spring!!! And if this 3-4 days of rain per week doesn't stop stuff will start to rot in the garden too!
LOVE the graduation ceremony for Logan!! Linds will be surprised next week when it's her turn to be celebrated!!! I'm still hoping that at some point seniors will have a real graduation but this is the best for now!!
LOL...yes Christine...Hannah & Shea were married May 2nd in 2008 in Alabama at the court house and then had their church affirmation of vows on 5/2/09.....for some reason I subtracted 2008 from 2021??? Hey, it was early...I know they were married in '08 but not sure why 2021 popped in my head! Oh well, chock it up to a "senior moment"!! Hannah counts 2008 as their anniversary....at first they were not going to tell anyone that they were married the year before but Hannah wanted to be able to celebrate milestones like 10th, 25th, etc on the correct year so that is why they had Dad read the note they wrote explaining why they did it!! It really was a funny moment when the entire congregation got the news...there were only about 15 of us that knew!!

Carole...everyone needs a lazy morning now and then....glad Ken & Zoe are enjoying game time before heading out....I got up at 7:20 and it was already 61°....supposed to hit mid-70's!! Not a whole lot of sun today but no rain so that works...winds are pretty mild too! I know Jason will be taking full advantage!! Glad you got the patio cushions out and "airing out"!! LOL, yes, sometimes those "quick jobs" take forever but YAY for getting the bricks our and now ready for the lattice! Will be nice to have that finished!!
Oh....I get the "hills & ruts"....our yard has spots the same way, especially around the maple trees. Jason would never agree to top soil either but thankfully he filled in many with the sod he trimmed when he edged the garden and flower beds a couple weeks ago....with all this rain it has settled and the spots are actually fairly level now which saves the "rolled ankles"!
Hope the roofer calls soon and you get a hold of the solar guy Monday....no more phone tag!! Yes, maybe a notebook would be a good idea to keep all the appointments straight.....either that or a calendar to add them to as they get scheduled!! That's a pain that if you are on the phone for work it goes to voice mail and not the answering machine...how did you know he left a message??? Did you get an email or something???
Hey....wraps sound yummy!! Wasn't the pizza place open for carryout all along Carole??? I know pizza places are doing a HUGE business around here because pizza is usually carry out of delivery!! Yes, there is something nice about not having to cook! That's why I thoroughly enjoyed the Olive Garden deal!!!
Carole...I'm hoping my porch is like a "farmer's porch" going from the front door, across in front of the living room and the slab we already have in front of the garage. In front of the door and living room it will be the width of the flower bed and current front walkway...then in front of the garage it will be wider because it will include the slab area that is about 8' wide. I'm visualizing the door/living room section to be about 8' wide and the slab section about 12'....the porch on the "house" would stop with a couple steps to the walk to the driveway....we'll see but I can see it in my mind!
Ah yes....riding with the windows down and sunroof open was heaven yesterday!!! Zoe is so stinking cute....yes, clothes is better than a nightgown for sure, especially in the sandbox!! LOL, I don't blame you for not painting...take advantage of the nice spring day outside!! Yes, I'm with you on the stimulus check...not using it unless absolutely necessary "just in case....." Don't want it to bite us in the caboose later.....
Carole...here is the link to the Etsy shop I got my masks with the soft ear loops....they are great and do NOT hurt at all!! The other bonus is that the way they are made my glasses don't steam up either like with all the other masks I've tried so it's a win-win. While I hated to spend $$ on them, I know we will be wearing them for a long time to come so figured I'd get my money's worth and with comfy ears and no steaming....it was worth it!!
www.etsy.com/shop/GramiTamiShop?section_id=28470041
Hey, if no one takes the slate Carole and you road trip by....I'll meet you and take it off your hands. I know what you mean about travel....I'm hoping for CT over Labor Day but will have to wait and see....one good thing is we are just going to Karen and Bobby's so it's no reservations needed....I just want to go somewhere.
Jenny....happy 89th to DFIL....still splitting wood at his age!! WOW!! That sounds like my DFIL....he did the "lot" well into his early 90's with little help from Jason....it was only the last couple years that Jason would help with the sweet potato digging and other "big jobs"!! Splitting wood helps keep your DFIL young!!!
Got rhubarb sauce simmering on the stove now and it's about done so will need to add a little sugar and make sure it's all broken up....might see if Jason will go down to the freezer and bring up a container of frozen strawberries to add....will be yummy!
Waves to all....have a great "Simple Sunday'!

Good afternoon!
I have been up since really early, but decided yesterday to hit the store at 6:30 am. I chose a store that I don't usually go to because they require masks there--it has some more expensive-gourmet-ish items (owned by a company with fancy stores) but also some bulk items and a huge produce section. It was a GREAT trip---I even got my favorite brand of paper towels--YAHOO!! First time since early March! They had TP as well but I didn't need it. It was a hugely successful trip and a great way to start my day. I bought some meat items for my mom and dropped them off on her porch before heading home so I missed my WW meeting so will find another this week and calendar it. I have a very good day yesterday--tracked and stayed within my points and (what a surprise, LOL) woke up this morning just feeling better. I have meals planned for the week as well so I am FINALLY feeling more positive about the week.
Today, when I went to Pinterest to pull up a recipe, it asked if I wanted to use a new feature called "Today" where there are several categories of items specific to my interests (based on my pins) and I decided to take a look. One of the things I found was an article on things to do on Sundays to "be ready for the week." This particular article hit the nail on the head for me...most often I dread Sundays due to thinking of the things that I have been putting off for the week ahead. Anyway, I found reading it to be helpful. Here is a link if anyone else also has a list of things that you dread doing and put off: Business Insider Article.
Christine: I think that you and I are in a similar place mentally....I was also thinking that way about salads! At the store I bought fresh greens and a few different things to put on them (mild pepper rings, interesting tomatoes, etc.) and will focus on salads for lunch. I LOVED reading about how Gary helped in the yard--YAHOO!! You have turned a corner! And he sold a car too? I am telling you...have the girls help him make a funny youtube commercial and he will get business... a lot of people shop for cars without a pandemic (me, for one) and he will draw them in! I love that you got outside and, it is obvious, that it really felt good! How is your foot feeling? Better, I hope? I LOVE the graduation idea! Made me get tears in my eyes reading it! How fun that you will surprise Lindsay! I agree with Carole, between hearing about the bonfires, Halloween, the quarantine driveway meetings, and now graduation...it sounds like a fun neighborhood! Hey, we should all retire in the same place and make our own neighborhood!! I hope that you have a great day today--I will be tracking with you and agree on the fruits and veggies for our focus.

Carole: Yahoo for sunshine and lots of time outside! So, once Miss Zoe got to sleep, I am thinking that you might have slept better? I always do after a day with more than usual physical activity. Sounds like you have lots of appointments lined up...I still use a wall calendar to keep track and my calendar on my phone as well. Otherwise, I forget everything! Yes, do work outside..the painting can happen at another time. I am SO glad that it was Tracy's idea to help out Patti!!! This could be good in SO many ways. I loved the pic of Zoe in the sandbox...but being there in a nightgown would have been a keeper-photo too, LOL. Your dinner last night sounded great. I have a few meals planned for the week including: Cabbage Roll Soup (tonight), BBQ London Broil (tomorrow), Chicken-Asparagus Picatta (Tuesday), Steak Diane (Wednesday), and Tacos (Thursday). I have salads planned for lunches as well. I was able to get 3 large baskets of strawberries from a local farm yesterday and we have those (oh, SO good). I hope that today is a good day (another one) and that your week is off on a positive note....and that you have another one of those windows-down-sunroof-open kinds of days!
Sue: Loved reading how your day started--sounds so nice and so connected to people! I really do miss seeing people...Zoom is not the same. I realize that I rely alot on observing body gestures, being able to look away, etc. Sometimes Zoom just feels like we are yelling at each other! Wow, your mom has great vision! My mom's is much better since her cataract surgery last year. Yes, it really was a good thing for her to move to TX. I hope that you can go see her in the fall sometime...so sorry that the trip got cancelled. Thank you for sharing the link to the masks....I have a friend making a few for me but, I agree with you, I think that I want to have a number of them on hand for now and into the future. LOL, DH (who gave me the HARDEST time about using an N-95 mask) has started going to a few places and he wore his N-95 mask and told me he could hardly breathe (this is what I had told him and he thought I was being dramatic). Now he gets it...we only have a few of them anyway (he has used them for spraying for years)..so I am sure that he will use a cloth mask as well. Hope that your day winds up on a good note!

Jenny: Wow, your DFIL sounds like an amazingly healthy guy! Your DH comes from "good stock", LOL. Glad that you are out and about this weekend---did you use the new smoker yet? Hope that you have a good day!
Hello to Shelly, Lisa, Nadine, and all who follow. So, I think that we are going to plan a trip to Hawaii with another couple next January (2021). We have been talking about it and now Southwest flies to HI from Sacramento...one friend got a round trip ticket for $250!! So, we figure if we start planning now we can shop for good fares and find a good place to stay. Our friends know some people who always stay at one particular place on Oahu--where we were planning to go. I would LOVE planning this and having it to look forward to. No big runs...just a vacation! I also would like to start planning our girls' FL trip....are we all game for this? Which beach is it again? Clearwater? I don't remember-- I know Christine does though! Hope that you all have a good day and don't make it too complicated!
