Will read the article later on but with the little I know about covid 19 herd immunity is not going to work- this virus is deadly. Well maybe eventually but our immediate needs are effective treatment that can save lives and a vaccine.

so basically no one gives a crap about social distancing when it's mother's day. i was so angry when i heard that. That sounds like my neighborhood. Cars filled the driveways, coming and going all day, parked for hours at a time. My daughter bought me a hanging plant and a bottle of wine. She called before she came and told me to she would be coming up the driveway in her car but to wait until she got back in the car before I came out. She also told me she wiped down the plastic pot and hanger and the bottle of wine. When I went out to wave she was already back in her car, about thirty feet away, with the windows rolled up and her gifts sitting on the driveway. We waved, she left, I wiped down the plastic pot and hanger again, wiped down the wine (Gewrurztraminer), left the flower basket outside, and brought the wine into the garage to our disinfectant staging area to air dry. Happy Mother's Day! We are both safe, life goes on. Hopefully we will both have many more Mother's Days to get together and celebrate but for now, this will have to suffice. I just don't get the stupidity. Uneducated bravado, or as my DH says "ignorant a******s." The worst part is that they are not just potentially hurting themselves---they will drag other innocent people down with them.

fullmahina, Thanks for posting this. Glad to see something was done. I guess there are two camps, those of us that believe about the virus, and those that don't believe they'll get the virus and do believe it is no big deal if they do, and don't care about infecting others.

especially in her very wise and practical social distancing manner I would have loved to have given her a big hug.... But this is temporary. Dead is forever.

But this is temporary. Dead is forever. Very good point. And one that no one can argue with, no matter what their political affiliation.

it's a shame that money means more to those in charge (states opening up too soon and fed) than human life.

I think if people would be responsible, like wearing masks when out in public, and maintaining social distancing, state officials would feel more comfortable about opening more of the state up. But it seems that whenever some people are given an inch, they run rampant.

If businesses are allowed to open up but employees do not return to work because they feel it is unsafe to do so they will be denied unemployment benefits. Unemployment benefits are distributed on a Statewide basis. If employees do not return to work they are denied benefits, thus saving the States a bundle. In the end it is all about the Benjamins. BINGO!!!!!!!!!!! Follow the money!!!!!!

But it seems that whenever some people are given an inch, they run rampant. and unfortunately not even when given an inch! we see those fools that are told not to do it and they dig their heels in and decide to not social distance nor wear masks nor practice any amount of common sense simply out of spite. man, once again, do i wish it could be where only the spiteful get the sickness. and then avoid the very hospitals they bog down because of their stupidity and carelessness.

That may be a large part of it, but an even bigger part is that at the Federal level we can find the money to cover all these people and give a living wage to everyone, like Britain is doing right now (though they're effed in their own way because it's a clusterf*ck over there too). But no, the scum in charge continue to feather their nests by profiteering on this pandemic. IIRC, it was more than two GoP senators who either invested or divested themselves just before announcements were made, and as soon as I heard about the chloraquine-related 'treatment' I thought two things: 1. This is bullshit, and 2. Who in addition to our president owns stock in this crap? This is how decisions seem to be made, to prop up the rich slime at the top, nearly all of whom have made their money at the expense of other human beings. So why are we now surprised that they're doing the same and serving their own self interests in a time of global emergency? I'm not surprised at all to be honest. They have no shame and know how transparent they are and they just don't care about you or me in any way. I feel lucky to live in California, at least my state seems to give a shit about me and my fellow Californians.
