What is YOUR "MONDAY MINDSET" Mine is BACK ON TRACK! Need to MOVE again today... and eat better... and drink my water... oh and maybe TRACK the day!! The steak I pulled yesterday will be what's for dinner tonight! We ended up getting take out - Tracy drove Zoë home, and well... as long as she was "in town"... she grabbed Chinese! The good news is - it was our only "meal" of the day! LOL
I was also over 8k steps again yesterday - not just steps - trust me... a lot more bending, stretching - hauling... feels so GOOD to see the small differences around the yard! Totally surprised - the temp is at 49 already now - and the sun is peeking over the mountain... might just be a fairly good day today too??? We'll see!!
I am "working" today - and it won't be easy - with Ken and Tracy around (again) - but it is what it is, so just gotta DO IT! I have a couple things for them each to DO today - to keep them busy for a little while (maybe). I will take lunch at 2:45 and meet with my "therapist" at 3...
Even with all my activity this weekend, sleep is still an issue. Need to work on that... need to make a couple more "Changes" maybe around here... gotta try anyway!
Meanwhile - let me refill my coffee and see if I can catch up before I have to clock in...

Sue: Sounds like a nice easy Sunday morning for you. Sounds like good news on your DM {{{hugs}}} Glad her eyesight is not "going" so she CAN enjoy a puzzle to keep her mind sharp!
Jenny: How nice to go celebrate DFIL's birthday! Hope the rain didn't dampen the event!
Sue: I am guessing as soon as this lifts your weekends will be back to full on hectic, with all the boys!
Oh we hit a GLORIOUS 82 degrees yesterday - FULL SUN... Zoë asked "WHY IS IT SO HOT?" I told her it's not hot... get used to it! LOL
Another gal came and got bricks yesterday - her poor little car couldn't take them all! She may be back today... she is building a brick oven on her newly installed patio - so she can make brick oven pizza! WHEW Now there is a woman who likes pizza! LOL The good news is most of them are gone - and all of them are in one spot... well, still a couple piles of "broken" ones... I may just toss over the bank to the brook! Oh yes, the lattice looks so much nicer.... and now the leaves will NOT blow under the porch so badly...
LOL We also have a couple of hills in the yard... ya' know a pile of dirt gets dug up and them never moved... I don't know, just figured it was worth a call...
Oh our phone has this ANNOYING BEEPING that says there is a voicemail... then we just have to dial in... but to be honest I hadn't noticed... If I don't MAKE a call, I don't hear the beeping! LOL Ken noticed... the phone itself says "1 new message"... anyway, solar guy gave me his cell number so I didn't want to bother him on the weekend! Maybe I'll have Ken make that call today - for me!
OH no - our local pizza place had closed just prior to this fiasco! They were having difficulties... so closed. Now they are re-opened with a more limited TO GO ONLY menu. Less employees - less food to have on hand - less overhead in general... best time to re-open and get back on their feet!
Oh My - that porch sounds lovely... I think our next "big" thing would be a gazebo... Ken has always wanted one... we'll see... I love to go out and sit on my back porch - sun shines there early morning... nice place to sit with coffee - if I am not on my computer! LOL
Oh Hey - if you are in CT this fall, I might just drive there and bring YOU the slate! LOL

Good Morning ~ gotta be short and sweet as today are scheduled teacher meetings beginning in an hour - Had a wonderful SUNNY day yesterday!!! I got out there and attacked the back yard landscaping - just a start, but a good start. Spent 4 hours out there and really wanted to do more but knew I would be sore later - this morning I did some Yoga and it felt wonderful And no, DH did NOT help one bit. LOL. Seriously, he sat on the back porch steps and literally talked himself OUT of edging. I quietly reminded him he offered to help as he said he knew how to do this - his reply, "I HAD to do it growing up and now I don't WANT to do it" Oh? He kept saying, "Leave it, just cover it with mulch" which exasperated me to no end. I kept explaining the edge will allow mulch to neatly be placed in the garden beds and not spill into the yard. He could NOT for the life of him envision what I meant. I have to move forward and just leave this behind me. Our differences in opinion is so opposite and I don't want to think negative thoughts so it's better I just move forward with my landscape project and find JOY in it LOL I admired my own work afterwards. DH could NOT see the difference and thought I wasted away the whole day. WHAT-EV-R! Today we are right back to cloudy days and temps in 40s. Not going to lie, it's going to be a rough week on all our nerves so I plan to 'dig deep' and PERSEVERE with a smile. (Remind me I said this)

Gabrielle: WOO HOO for a good shopping trip!! OK So tracking and planning and eating well made you FEEL Better?? LOL WHO KNEW??? Just kidding - I too know/assume I'd feel better and sleep better if I start being more MINDFUL around here!! Glad you are feeling better about the week ahead!
I will retire anywhere WARM...
LOL - Nah... my sleep is still BAD... awake almost every hour - sometimes I wake up HOT, other times just "awake"... but you girls have me "noticing" more that what's going on with me - has to be "hot flashes"! I never really thought of them that way - since I don't get night "sweats" and it truly is only at night! I mean - I have said all along, I probably HAVE Hot flashes - but because I am always so cold I actually ENJOY them... maybe some truth to it! LOL Anyway... Seems no matter what I do sleeping through a night is NOT what my body wants right now!
Hmmm your menu sounds good - We are doing Chicken Fajitas tomorrow (Cinco de Mayo) Tonight we will do the London Broil - hopefully on the grill, and will do simple baked potatoes with that. I never did get the chicken going last night - so that will cook today... enough for tomorrow, and lunches, and another chicken meal later in the week!
Oh reminds me I need to get my list ready to get to the store for delivery tomorrow!
Oh yes, I still have a wall calendar in the kitchen and now I have one by my "desk" as well.I am trying to get in the habit of my phone calendar... but that one I forget a lot!
LOL Yes Clearwater - on the Gulf side of FL... tell me when and where!!

Gabrielle - YES, CLEARWATER BEACH or St. Petersburg, FL area - just a thought. Does not HAVE to be that area - further south is beautiful too, Naples/Ft. Meyers but that is an expensive retirement community, at least Naples was back in the day. My Uncle lives in Clearwater/Tampa Bay area. To be specific, Plant City. I have never been there myself but the pictures are beautiful! Let's see what we can find...I'm leaning towards Spring BUT if Fall works better for everyone else I am not picky!! We found great deals for Amelia Island, FL in the Fall compared to Spring. Just a thought.
Okay, gotta jet - WAVES to all

Mornin' Sue - Oh no... hope nothing too serious for DM {{{hugs}}} Hope you have a good work day - ttyl ♥
Mornin' Christine: UGH Good luck with your teacher meetings-hoping they don't go full into the whole day!!
WOO HOO for your morning yoga!!
LOL Sorry - but Oh Man... sorry DH just doesn't get it! Yes sometimes we have to just sit back and enjoy OUR work {{{hugs}}} - I have to say my DH DID actually admit the lattice covering our "under the porch" does look better!!
OK SMILE my friend... might indeed be a long week - but the good news is... the weekend is only 5 days away, and if the weather is nice, and it's Mother's Day... maybe a special "cook out" to look forward to??
OH dear - I too need to get moving... my high point of the day yesterday was Timothy texted and said IF things go as they have been, and no major spikes here... they will be up on Sunday! WOO HOO!
I promised a small gathering... probably us 3 and them, and my 2 sisters... might not include Patti - Zoë and Kathy this time... but even if we do - it will be outside... we'll see!
The biggest issues in MA are NOT here in our county... and quite frankly I am tired of the Eastern part of the state making it tougher on US... IF THEY would all just stay home the rest of us could get back to normal! AS usual, we are about 2 1/2 hours WEST of Boston - but BOSTON makes our decisions... and they usually only benefit BOSTON!
Might check in later... looking forward to windows open and fresh air and sunshine... think it will be a light "work" day for me today! LOL I can make it up another day - when I am home alone... ♥hugs♥

Good morning! Just wanted to check in. I was weeding on Friday and heard a buzz and saw a bumble bee and I took off running across the patio. I was afraid that I may have disturbed a nest. When I got the wet grass I slipped to my knees but my upper body was back on the ground by my ankles. I hobbled into the house in great pain. Greg got out the crutches and I went to Dr. She thinks I pulled adductor muscle. It hurts in inner upper leg when I lift or put weight on it. She said advil or Tylenol and ice. It's the opposite leg from when I had broken ankle so I'm not very grateful with crutches. Once the pain calms down I can go to no crutches or just one. Also can't drive till I can more freely move right leg. This wasn't in my May plans but Dr said might take 3 weeks to heal. I hope I will reach a tolerable pain level before then! Going to get a warm bath soon

Good morning Carole and Christine - sounds like you are yard warriors this weekend. Watch out for bees. They do make nests in the ground. Here we have advice coming on not planting because we had a cold spell. Maybe a positive thing since I am going to be delayed anyway.
Good morning Sue. I need to catch up on what's happening with everyone.

Good morning!
Yes, let's remember that it is 5 days until the weekend--thanks Carole! I did get in my TM time this morning and I am hoping that this Saturday's run feels a bit better. Depending on the Governor's msgs this week, I might even call someone from the team to run with me--we can easily run 6 feet apart. I REALLY hope that the beach folks behaved this weekend. I do have to say, they live in a pretty crowded, highly populated area where it is a lot harder to get away from people--it seems that would be much riskier (I keep thinking of poor NY). Here is so rural that it isn't too hard to get away from crowds...seems like that should matter. Oh well, we will see. Another cool morning. Yesterday was sunny but the high was 65. It is supposed to warm up over the weekend though. Thinking that I might try to do something for my DM on Sunday --- bring over a nice brunch or something and we can eat outside while she is inside? We will see.
Carole: YAHOO for Tim/Jacqueline/Eden maybe coming on Sunday!!! Wow, that would be great! I am SO in agreement with you--all of the "hot" maps show the prevalence in MA all along the coast. I hope that it works out! I can't believe it--you were 20 degrees warmer than us yesterday! Nice! You deserve it! Yep, you certainly might be having hot flashes...and they do wake me up. LOL, yes, you can see that my planning-tracking-logging helps...another good day yesterday and it really does make a difference. Oh yes, Cinco de Mayo...think I will change up and have tacos tomorrow instead. We are grilling london broil tonight too! And baked potatoes (DH loves them)--- I will probably have a yam. And we have broccoli as well. And some good bread (for the boys). I hope that someone (solar?) gets back to you today....I know that you are anxious to get those projects planned. So, a LOT of people around here (CA) put in those pizza ovens...including a gal from work. She has used it ONCE in two years. LOL, I would rather have a good fire pit and comfy chairs! I hope that today is a good day and that your therapy appt goes well.

Christine: Yay for getting out in the yard again. Glad that you can put Gary's "lack of interest" behind you...that one could eat you alive! Maybe, when you least expect it, he will come around. Maybe he is even going through some kind of "funk" since he isn't really working. My DH has been kind of grouchy when he is injured and can't work. Either way, glad that YOU see the progress! When is Linds going to be home? I was thinking that is was soon? Looking forward to hearing about that transition...both girls "permanently" at home again. Hope that you are back in your office soon, LOL. Yes, Clearwater Beach. So, when DH and I went there for the marathon (my only time in FL), I was really surprised at the lack of breezes/wind at the beaches. It was SO humid and the air was still. Here in CA (and in Hawaii), it is always windy at the beach. Anyway, we did stay at Clearwater Beach one night and it was, hands down, our favorite beach. There was a breeze! It felt less humid...we were talking about it the other night. I am open to Spring or fall...just need to know for planning. If we plan it for Fall of 2021 or Spring 2022? Give people lots of time for planning? It would be so fun!
Sue: Oh so sorry to hear that something happened with your mom...we will be watching....
Lisa: Oh man! I am so sorry to hear of your fall. It sounds so painful! I hope that you feel less pain soon!
Okay girls, I am running late (didn't sleep well) and need to get moving. Might check in later---have a good day!

Gabrielle: I VOTE FALL 2021!!! I've never been to FL in the fall! Spring is always so busy with "getting ready" for Spring/summer... also (for me) Easter, bake sale - MD Breakfast... usually a spring vacation (barring another pandemic)...Just my opinion - I will go WHENEVER!!!
SO I clocked out of work for my appointment - He.Never.Called.! I QUIT! I waited with my phone and tablet in my lap for 45 minutes... nope... not waiting any longer!!
Kind of chilly here today... and sun is in and out... windy too... So after my NON-Appointment, I changed my clothes... comfy warm in fleece pants and top - not going back to work today! HA! I had told them I wasn't sure if I would be back or not... so a short Monday for me! I can easily make up the time the rest of the week - when I am home ALONE!
It is kind of late for lunch, but I am just grabbing a salad now... was going for chips - opted for salad... will make my appetite smaller for dinner??
LISA! Oh NO! I was just thinking about you the other day... and OUCH that sounds AWFUL!!! Oh No crutches are NOT my friends - my arms are just not strong enough!! {{{hugs}}} to you as you figure it all out... take it easy - and oh I do hope you can manage the pain!! Hope the warm bath helped. ♥
We have issues with hornets (not the murdering ones you see on the news) and wasps... and to be honest I do NOT know the difference... but we have them EVERY SPRING, when the weather warms to bring them "out"... I put out my trap and had 2 in it within a few hours... haven't checked it today... but thank you - yes I am very mindful of bees in general!
Gabrielle: LOL 1 down 4 to go... I hope you CAN find a running partner... yes you would be distanced and outside... I just feel like the longer they keep us locked up - the harder it will be to avoid the next strain! I also feel if people would just follow simple instructions... we'd be out by now!!
Oh I think you should have DM over for MD and all sit out on your deck... distanced... no hugging... but I know Ed is truly worried about it all! Good luck to you with whatever you decide to do ♥
Ken is getting ready to grill the meat... He is in charge of dinner... I will have to "help" I am sure... or nothing will be ready at the same time. UGH!

OH Ladies - yes... still playing phone tag with solar, but roof place called today! YAY! They are coming for an outside/distanced meeting Wednesday!! I am not convinced we can "Afford" the roof we want... and I really did want to deal with a roof company that works with the solar place (two birds one stone kind of thing) but it is what it is...
We are looking at shingles... they are 30 year shingles, and in 30 years "Not.My.Problem."! LOL This company was referred by a friend.. so we are hoping to not feel the need to get 2 or 3 different quotes... we'll see! LOL I scheduled these guys to come when Ken is home - I think this one will be over "my pay grade" - and will want his input. My bay window, nope... I did that one on my own... but this... I think will be a MAJOR investment!!
OH BTW did I tell you Ken got the check for his DMs estate? He drove down one night last week... to sign and get the check. HE deposited it Friday... and today I moved it to a better interest/online/checking account! We are feeling very fortunate right now, that we are able to make some plans to get some things done - things that should have been done years ago (on the house)... as well as (in time) we will gift some to the kids... and out some in SAVINGS... for another family trip/retirement/travel/home repairs... Oh and a LOT of things will be paid OFF, so our monthly expenses will be just that... monthly expenses... utilities, etc., No.More.Debt.! Monthly it will save us over $1k so there will be more "spending" and "saving" money month to month...
Anyway... off the top we know we need to change out the slider... do the driveway... and work on the roof - in one way or another!
It was with this money Ken was going to get a truck... but instead we will take over Matt's... Patti is finishing the work on getting Ken on her insurance and then we can take it from/for her... I think that too will be a help for her.
Anyway... this is HOW we are all of a sudden able to get things done here... now just waiting for solar people and driveway people to get back to me! LOL It will be HARD to see such a "dent" in the money, but will feel good to get out from under parent loans... and credit cards...Just need to get it figured out ASAP...
OK Time to head upstairs with a glass of wine - while Ken watches his Judge Judy... I am sorry - I just do NOT like that woman!
Might CBL... or in the morning... feels good to have a light afternooon for a change!

Evening all....came home and got the guacamole made for tomorrow's "treat of the month" day!!! It's a yummy batch this time....now I don't have to scramble in the morning. Trying a new technique to keep it from browning. I heard that if you put a thin layer of water over the squished down guac it will not turn brown and because the guac is dense and fatty it will not absorb any of the water....just pour the water off and give it a stir before serving. Worth a try! I know the brown color doesn't effect the taste of the guac but it looks yucky!!
First...quick update on DM....this is the first email we got late afternoon yesterday...... Mom is in the hospital with A-fib. There is no known cause for what brought it on. Jim was there yesterday late afternoon to do the Fentanyl patch and she was in good spirits, talkative and everything seemed normal.
All Care called us this morning about 7:30 as she had a headache, nausea and threw up. I went over there and she was rather incoherent and I called EMS. I checked her meds and she hadn’t taken anything more than she should have. They said she was in A-fib, and took her to the ER, where they stabilized her and put her on a Diltiazem IV drip. There was fluid in her lungs, which they suspect was due to the A-fib. Her WBC was 26,900, so they are looking for infections such as a UTI, or any other infection. Additionally they’re doing a full workup on the heart for possible heart attack including a sonogram of the heart due to the recently discovered aneurysm.
We could not go in and see her. I made sure the nurse told her we were there but were not allowed to see her. In fact, we had to wait outside of the building in front of the ER. We also cannot go into the hospital and see her now that she has been admitted and is in a hospital room.
We have a number for the nurse’s station and have already called to check on her, and she’s doing OK.
You currently can’t reach Mom by phone to talk to her because she doesn’t have one in her room on the cardiac floor.
We can only call the nurse’s station to get an update and they did not set up any kind of code word (as of yet). They know who we are and have our contact #’s, so I don’t know if anybody else can get any info from them.
They said they will call us tomorrow after they know something with all the tests they’re doing.
Depending on how long Mom’s stay is, we may get a direct line in a day or two... not sure.
This COVID panic thingy came down like a hammer and there are no visitors (per CDC) in any hospital for any reason. It was so weird having to sit outside the ER door in chairs they brought to us. We couldn’t even get in the hospital, they just kept coming outside to ask us questions.
When I got up this morning I had this email that Jim had sent after I was in bed because of the time difference between here and TX.....sounds like she's stable and we just need to wait for results....still no word yet but figure Jim stopped on his way home from work to check on her or called after work and not positive of his hours??? I called and spoke to the nurse this evening and discovered the following:
- Mom was completely exhausted from the whole event but perked up this evening and became hungry. They were ordering dinner for her just before 7 pm. She hadn’t eaten anything since yesterday lunch. (All Care let us know she didn’t eat her dinner last night.)
- They have completed the following tests: Urine sample Ultrasound of her heart CT Scan of her head (increased frequency of headaches) Sonogram of the stomach (she complained a great deal of pain in her stomach) Blood work for heart attack enzymes, etc.
- The doctor will call us tomorrow with the test results.
- She’s been provided a walker so she is not completely immobile in bed (hooray!)
Gabrielle...YAY for the successful trip to the store...sounds like you scored some great finds!! Had to laugh about the paper towels! Thanks for the link to the article...sounds like something all of us need at one time or another...I know we all dread the Sunday Scramble some weeks thinking of what the week ahead will hold...it was a good read!! Your menu for the week sounds yummy. WOW, as chilly as you have been, you have strawberries already??? We have baby strawberries but it will be probably 3+ weeks before picking starts!!
I'm sure ZOOM for work meetings is VERY different Gabrielle but when you are just chatting and visiting with people you can't visit with normally it's fun!! I guess I'm lucky going to work every day and seeing people but I miss weekend/evening visiting and ZOOM helps...I guess for me it's like FaceTime with Hannah's gang!
