Good morning!
Just finished my TM time and wanted to pop in before getting the day going---I am REALLY liking the longer days. I think that all of the isolation would have been harder in the middle of winter with short days and no chance to get outside. I looks to be sunny and it is DEFINITELY warmer than yesterday. I have time built into my calendar today to get some reading done in preparation for a meeting at the end of the week and some planning for another meeting I am running on Thursday and I am SO glad! I don't do that often enough and then all of my planning happens in the evening hours. I just saw a snippet on the news where a survey of 2000 executives revealed that 1020 of them have felt more productive working from home--no commute and less distraction from coworkers. 980 of them prefer the office because they feel lonely. About 50-50. I think that I would support 1-2 days/week of working from home and the rest at the office. I don't know if it will be an option though:). Day 3 of tracking yesterday and feeling SO much better. Thanks to Carole reminding me of Cinco de Mayo, we are having tacos. I found a recipe on the WW site for taco meat that sounds good---I am going to give it a try. I always do the same thing so it will be good to mix it up. We have TONS of mexican restaurants around here, but have the food to fix it all from home so....we haven't been eating out much at all anyway.
Sue: Thanks for starting us and hope that you have a good day. I have a mask similar to yours ---haven't tried it with my glasses though so I will. I have a friend making a few more (one for DH, one for DM, and a few others). I figure that we will keep them on hand for future needs as well as now. LOL, I could not tell that you were smiling....I did see on the news that a woman made one with a little plastic window so that you could see someone's mouth--it was mostly for lip-readers --- I can't imagine being deaf and not signing---how hard would it be to live in a world where everyone has masks? So glad that your mom seems okay now? It would be odd not being able to go in the hospital. My mom has afib as well and it can really be unsettling. Wow to Amanda and the positive email to Sarah...maybe this confinement thing softens most hearts after all! Or, with a new baby coming, she realizes how much she might rely on Josh/Sarah? Whichever, it is a WIN for Colton!!! Yay!

Carole: Hello there! So we will look at Fall 2021! I think that Christine said Fall could work too...that works better for me as well. I did not realize that the estate is settled-- I am so glad for all of you! It is a wonderful thing when you can feel some relief as things are paid for/improvements get done, etc. Nice! It sounds like you had a good day yesterday---but I am SO sorry that the therapist "didn't show"...how odd? I wonder if he will reach out to you? Maybe something happened? At least you had some time off--glad that you followed through with that. Hoping that you get some good news on your estimates! Hey, are you having margaritas tonight? I was actually thinking of picking up some "curbside". I need to order guacamole or something too (with it) or I will feel like a lush! We will see. I can't remember the last time I had one.
Shelly: Wow, your deck is really coming along! It looks like the dogs are enjoying having you all outside with them. Our dogs LOVE it. Oh I hope that they remember that it is your 50th! That's a big deal....glad that you have some celebration time on Saturday. I wonder if the boys will remember? Sometimes our kids give the push on things like that. We do projects like that for Mother's Day/Father's Day/Anniversary gifts too---and we enjoy them afterwards. Uggh--sorry about the lack of the invitation last weekend. It definitely could be the case that DH received an invite...have you asked him?
Christine: Hope that you have a good day today and that DL is "pre-occupied"--are some of your yard projects getting going now (with the outside contractors)?

Lisa: Is the pain any better today? I hope so...I hope that you didn't wake up feeling more stiff. I am TERRIFIED of bees (I have a bad reaction when I have been stung). I don't think that I have been stung for over 30 years. And I am glad. Most of our hives are above ground, but we get TERRIBLE "meat bees" in the summer. Hope that you are feeling better today.
Jo: How are you doing? Will you be heading back into the office soon? Still not sure here in CA.
Jenny: Hope that your week is off to a good start!
Nadine: Not sure if you are checking in, but hope that you and your family are well.
So, yesterday our Governor announced that they will be "opening for curbside pickup" a few things this Friday...florists, some retail stores, and manufacturing businesses. We will see how it goes. I know that he is under a lot of pressure from communities where hospitals are sitting empty since they wanted beds available. In CA we have 30,000 empty beds waiting for COVID patients and 10,000 ventilators not being used...I hope that they are not needed. I think that elective surgeries will be happening soon. We will see! Have a good day, ladies and I will see you later.

Good Morning! I haven't been sleeping well. This working from home is aggravating my carpel tunnel in my right hand. I've been trying to wear my wrist brace but it's hard to work with it on. It was in the 80's this past weekend. It was beautiful!. The next couple of days it will be in the 30's though. I'm so ready for summer to get and stay here!.
Sue, thanks for starting us.
Gabrielle, Friday they opened restaurants. DH and I did go out to eat. It was relaxing sitting on their patio. It felt like we hadn't eaten out in forever. The wait staff wore masks and gloves. they could only operate at 50% capacity but it wasn't too busy. The latest is telecommuting will be re-accessed on May 18th. For now we are still at home. I would like to keep it that way personally. Glad you enjoyed your run. I agree that this would be harder in the middle of winter. The Great Smokey mountains opened back up, with restrictions, too.
need to catch up...brb

Good Morning everyone
I worked out in the yard yesterday and my arms and body are so tired today. I was supposed to be at my old plant for this week but the gal I'm filling in for has stomach issues and has decided to take some more time off, I like the elk plant so I don't mind.
Carole yahoo for the extra money to get some much needed work done to the house. I can't wait, this summer I'm going to finally get my wood floors installed. It is good to hear that Tim, Jacalyn and Eden might come over for MD. I was thinking about having my Mom and Dad down for MD since it's going to be 84degrees and we can sit outside and enjoy the weather. Oh and DH is going to pick up the new grill/smoker today they called yesterday and let us know it was in. Sorry about the therapist not calling for your appointment, that is really odd he didn't call.
Sue WOW Amanda called and thanked Sarah for the help with Colton? That was nice of her, it still amazes me though. Yes I think the kids are having trouble adapting to the new schooling procedures. Audrey told me yesterday that she was so happy, she took her Chemistry test and she didn't cry or curse during the test. I just laughed and told her good job. Sorry to hear DM has Afib, is the medication working for her for that? It's really got to be difficult to wait outside the hospital instead of being in there with her, but I do understand why they have to do it. I love your mask, it's cute.

Christine, sounds like you got a lot of yard work done this weekend. Ugh to DH not getting it. It's funny at my house DH is the yard person and I jsut stay inside. The opposite you your house. Do what you like and don't worry about him..LOL Glad the teacher meetings went well. Oh what car dealership does DH work at? just curious.
I'm up for anywhere in FL. Fall might be cheaper than spring. but I'm flexible.
Carole, woo who for the nice temps. Sounds like it was here. I love that weather. Are you opening your pool this year? sounds like you got a lot of yard work done too. So where do you order pizza now?
Oh I feel for you with the internet. We jsut have the choice of Xfininty or local phone company. The phone company's wifi stinks so it's Xfinity and they are expensive but at least it's stable and fast.
Carole, glad Ken's Mother's estate is settled. that sounds like a good thing.
Lisa, oh no! I've done that before. hope you feel better soon
Sue, so sorry your Mother is going through this. DH has been on that drug before. A-fib can be managed. My Dad didn't get it until later in life too. Steve is the outlier here. Hope they get it under control and everything else comes back good.
got to get back to work

Christine, glad to hear Gary sold a car and got to go into the office for a bit. They are not opening up Oregon until the cases go down. I don't mind it to much, all I do is go to the store and home anyway, I know people are getting real tired of being cooped up and want to return to work. I guess there was a big protest at the capital on Saturday they all had their guns and signs protesting. What good is the guns going to do. Idiots!!!!
Jo glad you got to go out and eat. Oh Carpel tunnel now that hurts, sorry your not sleeping because of it. It's going to get up into the 80's this weekend I can't wait.
Gabrielle I vote for Fall to go to Florida. Where is it your looking to go to? As long as there is no snakes or gators I'm fine. The weather is finally looking nice starting today and through the weekend, it rained so hard on Saturday my shoes got soaked going to the store, but it's all good. Yes the smoker came in yesterday and Kerry is picking up today just in time for mothers day , I'm sure I'll be cooking up some great food with it.
Shelly love the new deck, that will be so nice in the summer time. Are you going to cover it or leave it open? Sorry you didn't get invited to DBIL b-day that would hurt the feelings not to be included. How's the store going? I bet it's busy.
Lisa oh my goodness, I hope you heal up quickly.
OK need to run for now I hope everyone has a great day

Evening all...boy what a difference a couple days makes....today it's gloomy, high of 55° and just plain raw!! Rains should be arriving sometime after dark and rain all day tomorrow and not getting out of the 40's!! YUCK!!
Time to finish catching up!!
Carole...so excited that you may get to have a visit with Tim, Jaclyn and Eden!! Will definitely be a special Mother's day!! Hope your weather is going to be nicer than ours for the weekend...we are in the upper 40's on Saturday and low to mid 50's Sunday with clouds and 20+ mph winds!! Hope it all works out!! Our county is now under the 50 cases per 100k for a couple days now so hopefully we will be getting the reins loosened a bit like Christine's part of the state??? I can hope!! Would love to be able to celebrate Jackson's birthday on the 17th of May!! I am glad PA is opening county by county and not as a whole...some parts of the state still are growing in cases and deaths at a pretty good rate and counties like ours has plateaued and are dropping daily!!
Lisa....sorry for the slip and injury...no, that is not how you wanted to spend your May....hope it heals quickly!! Follow doctor's orders!!
Gabrielle...hopefully the governor's messages this week bring good news and you can maybe have a running buddy this week!! Yes, depending on where you live it is easier to "keep your distance". We almost hit 80° on Sunday here...it was heaven but now we are paying the price for those nice days!!
Yes Carole...Florida in the fall is nice...still warm but not as many tourists!! We did WDW in late September the first time we went and it was gorgeous!!! WOW Carole...he never called?? I thought you were to call him?? Guess I was confused!
YAY Carole for Ken finally getting the check from his DM's estate. Sounds like you are doing the same thing we did when Jason's dad passed away. He was only a milkman all his life and didn't leave much but it was enough after we gave the girls their share as promised when they changed the will and put everything in both DFIL and Jason's name to save the headaches of having an estate and a TON of inheritance taxes, to pay off all school loans, credit card debts and now we can live month to month and pay off credit cards, and other bills with no interest....it really does give you a feeling of "freedom" when you see that you can do that again. Aside from the mortgage debt that we will have for a long time we are debt free!! Enjoy being able to get those home improvement things done!!
Unfortunately our addition will mean we will still have a mortgage (if we refinance) or HELOC?? But it needs to be done and with it will be the new roof and other things that we have been putting off for so long....thankfully our 25 year roof that was put on 3 years we moved in is still going strong after 36 years so I know we are on borrowed time!! When we finalize the sale of the house to Sarah and Josh we will have probably enough for the addition/remodel but will likely refinance and get a better interest rate than we have now...our mortgage interest isn't too high but with the economy as it is now, if we do it in the next year or two we should be able to get a lower rate than what we have now! Who knows....still need to get all those ducks in a row!
Shelly...the deck/porch is really coming along!! Sorry about the sunburn!! My boss said today he did the same thing on Sunday...didn't really think about the sun and was in the yard....he came in and his wife said "oh my, you got a little sun"!! NOPE...he got a lot of sun!!! Hope this is the last one for this year for you!!
I'm sure someone will remember it's your birthday on Saturday...who knows, maybe they have a HUGE surprise planned??? Sorry for the lack of invite this weekend...that would definitely be hurtful

Gabrielle...glad you got to start your day on the TM. I'm loving the longer days....something "happy" about coming home at night and still having hours of light.....the winter doldrums definitely start to lift when the days get longer! Winter depression is bad enough for many and if this pandemic happened over the winter I think many more people would "snap" and not do well...at least now people have plenty of daylight to do something! Honestly, most of the people I have talked to about working from home it's a 50/50 thing for preference. I have to admit, I know me and I know that I feel more normal and productive going to work than if I was at home!
So glad the tracking is working and helping you feel better Gabrielle.... Please share the taco meat recipe....I'm still hoping to find some ground beef soon around here but haven't been able to get it since this whole thing started....if worse comes to worse it will be ground turkey which I have some in the freezer!
Honestly Gabrielle...today was day #2 with my new mask and my ears are still VERY happy and my glasses have not steamed up once!! Also, because I wear trifocals/progressive lenses, when I look down while wearing this mask, it is not in the way...the other masks were in the way and I couldn't focus on anything close! LOL, I was hoping you could see my "smiling eye wrinkles"! I love the plastic window idea! I know Christine struggles with not being able to read lips!! That's cool!
Speaking of DM...this is the update I woke up to this morning. Annie sent another later in the day that said that she has been in normal sinus rhythm since yesterday and has been heading to the BR with her walker so she should be able to head back to her apartment upon discharge and not have to do "rehab" or anything like that and that is a HUGE thing for DM....Jim and Annie are really trying to make sure the staff knows she needs to still be "pushed"!!
As of earlier today, Mom was doing a lot better – A-fib was controlled, but this afternoon she went back into A-fib. She also still has stomach pain and nausea, so she hasn’t eaten much today. The Cardiologist has ordered another CT of the chest.
The ultrasound of the heart was normal for an 80 year old. Blood work for heart attack came back negative.
Her sodium and potassium were low. She was on fluids so the potassium is normal, but she remains on fluids to bring up sodium. She is always low sodium, and I mentioned to her the need to use more salt, but she said she doesn’t like salt. I did explain to her that it’s crucial for every nerve synapse controlling every function in her body (we’re doing Advanced Biology this year), but she didn’t think it necessary.
Hydration alone brought her WBC from 26,000 to 22,000; however, they’re working to find the source of the infection. The urinary analysis hasn’t come back yet, as they weren’t able to get a good sample until today.
I’ve discussed the likelihood of severe constipation. She has not had a movement at the hospital, and I let them know that we have no idea when her last one was, and further explained she has a tendency to wait until the 5th day before she does something about it. Plus they put her on Zofran, which we have found causes chronic nausea in Mom, as well as constipation, so I explained that, and will again with the doctor tomorrow.
She does not answer her phone. I’ve tried several times to be sure. Also, she is not wearing her hearing aids. They keep mentioning her hearing issues, and I keep telling them the hearing aids are in a black box that are in the bag we brought. She is wearing her glasses and they were in a smaller bag right next to the hearing aids. They were the only things that fit in the bag.
The hospital said that they must speak to only one family member for each patient, since all the families have to call to get information and cannot come up and visit, so don’t bother calling them. We’ll keep sending updates as we get them.
Honestly, not sure what brought on the "human, respectful" side of Amanda but for today we are all enjoying it!!! I have a feeling that now that she is in a relationship and sees that someone else (Tony, her fiance) "can and does" love her son....maybe now she sees that Sarah has been doing that for 11 years now....Sarah has been the "mom" for him when he's with Josh and he truly is Sarah's "biggest boy"!
BTW...my guacamole, salsa, queso and chips was a HUGE hit!! AND...if you want to know the perfect way to keep it from getting brown...the thin layer of cold water works GREAT!!! I poured the water off and gave it a quick stir...didn't change the consistency at all and it was perfectly green!!

Gabrielle....I think all governors are under pressure to "open up" but not sure "public places" are the ones to open too quickly. Yes, the "stay at home" order did flatten the curve and in some areas the numbers are finally starting to drop but now the things that should open are healthcare....open Carole's allergy clinic, open the surgical place so Tracy can have her surgery, open up elective surgeries so that the people in pain can get their knees and hips replaced. These places know how to maintain the standards of cleanliness and safety..... As I have said over and over....give people an inch and they take a mile!! Heavens, CA figured that out two weekends ago when the beaches were PACKED and then the governor closed them back down....people are tired of being cooped up and I know that when they get a little "freedom" they will think it means "life as normal"!
Jo...sorry working from home is NOT being kind to your wrists! Carpal Tunnel is tough...I had both my wrists done years ago!! Yes....we too get "glimpses" of summer and then late winter, early spring comes back with a vengeance...give me summer! Jo...you are like me...Jason is the outside person and I'm the inside person...he grows the food, I cook the food! David and Katie are just the opposite....Katie is the outside person and David is the inside....funny how people just fall into their role! Thankfully I like my role and it's not a struggle....I know neither Sarah or Josh are outside people so they have figured the "take turns" way to handle the lawn. But...now that they own their house, Sarah wants the outside to look nice and Josh couldn't care less so Sarah does all the beds and stuff. Funny thing, over the years she is starting to enjoy it and now appreciates her dad and his love for growing things. She used to always ask him to help...how just knows what to do, what to buy and does it herself!
Jenny...have to laugh...I think half the people I work with came in to work on Monday and said they were in the yard all weekend and now they "feel it"! Everyone has been itching to get out to the yard! YAY for the Elk plant...I know you love it there! YAY for the arrival of the new smoker....what is going to be your Mother's Day dinner request???
Hope all had a great day....going to try and FaceTime with David...he should be home at this point...not sure anything has opened in NC yet!! See you all in the morning!

Evening all... I tried to check in from work but to much to do. When I got home I loved some of the long boards (20ft) closer to the deck so it would be easier when DH got home to help him. That definitely made me tired. We got a little more done this evening it still seems like a lot to do. Gonna be hard to get done by Saturday unless he’s able to get a lot done on his own tomorrow. Hopefully his dad or brother will come and help.
Gabrielle glad you had TM time today. I was supposed to train but put off another day!!! I have to go tomorrow though. Can’t keep putting it off or he is going to fire me lol. Hope you was able to prep for your meeting next week. Oh I don’t think I would be very productive if I worked from home on my own time. Only way would be deadlines for stuff everyday!!! I have a mask but have not been wearing them. We do have the sneeze guards at the registers so I guess it makes us feel a title safer.
Oh yes I did ask DH about an invitation and he said he was NOT told about it at all. Maybe his brother was supposed to say something but he did NOT. I just feel like it happens to often and makes me not feel welcome ever. Like only invite us out of guilt. I know reading to much into it but happens more and more all the time. And when we invite them a lot of times DSIL doesn’t show up.
The dogs love being outside in a nice evening. After being in the house all day it’s nice to get some fresh air.
Oh I got a call from my parents and they are coming g to see us on my bday. So excited d to see them. Kinda wish I wasn’t having to work so hard to entertain on my bday though.
Jo sorry you didn’t sleep well. I slept to well last. I did not wake up until 5:40 and had to be at work at 6 so it was jump up and get dressed and run out the door. Boy I hate mornings like that. Grrrr so mad at myself when I do that.
Joni do most of the mowing at my house. I have little weed eating to do thank goodness cuz I don’t have a good one. DH is always to busy with farming and work to make time for house/yard stuff. That’s why I’m so surprised he is building this deck for me.
Jenny Oklahoma is opening up which for me life has been the same from the beginning except busier. I’ve actually been jealous and would like some time off myself. We hope in time to cover it but we will have to wait and see. Yes the store is still busy.
Sue I am so excited for the deck to be done (I’m trying to not call it a porch since it’s not got a roof but it’s hard lol). I think there is a couple things tripping up DH on it but I know it will all come together just fine. Oh I kinda think ddil and the DGD Keeley and Lexi May not be here Saturday. She might have a family thing with her family. 😢 just another way of me feeling left out 😢. Sorry for the pity party. Same thing happened on my 40th. No one really even acknowledge it was my bday and it just so happened to fall on MD that year. Ok promise I will give it up for now lol.
So you guys are making plans for fall 2021? That sounds like fun but not sure what I will be able to do. Will have to see.
Ok got to get to bed so maybe I won’t oversleep. Plus I’m about to fall asleep.
Talk to you all tomorrow.
