Welcome to the CLUTTERBUSTERS thread. We are a daily thread, Monday thru Friday, and we have a combined weekend edition Saturday and Sunday. We welcome new members and are a friendly, helpful and supportive group.
Our purpose is for support and sharing of tips and strategies in dealing with weight and clutter issues in our lives. Many feel that the two are often tied together. So, we will lend a caring ear, and hopefully give and learn tips to help all of us.
We want to remove at least 5 items or spend at least 15 minutes clutter busting today!
Remember, it didn't pile up in one day so it isn't going away in a day either. One organizer says: you don't have to stop everything to get organized, you just have to start somewhere.

Good morning,
Sunny but cool morning. I’ll wait until the afternoon to get my walk in. It’s 34 now, heading to 50.
Worked in the basement yesterday. Have a few cardboard boxes to move out of there today. I finally got around to putting one of the shelving units together. It was a no tools required one, was pretty easy to assemble. I cleared out a space on the back wall and it fit there perfectly. I moved some of the bins onto the unit. That part of the basement looks so much more organized. I have another one to assemble today. I think the spot I was planning on putting it will be too tight. It’s between the cabinets, I guess I’ll move the chair there and use the side wall for storage if I have to. I’m going to get 2 more units, 1 for the basement, laundry area (smaller unit) and another that will eventually go upstairs when I start decluttering there.
Looks like my county will still be stay at home until the end of the month. They haven’t announced it officially, the rest of NY will start opening up after the 15th, but we’re not ready yet. I’m starting to find my new routine. I am sure my basement will be sufficiently organized on schedule (July), then I’ll start the upstairs. I went upstairs yesterday, looked around and am looking forward to decluttering there. I get through the days easier when I have something to focus on. Who knows, I might have an organized house by the end of the year.
Dottie - I’m glad you didn’t tear anything. Knock on wood, my arthritis hasn’t been bothering me for quite a while. I probably should put my knee strengthening exercises in my rotation, wouldn’t hurt. Another reason for me to invest in a recumbent bike.
Ruth - good to hear your back is feeling better. I still get winded when I walk up and down stairs, working on it.
I have an Instacart delivery today. I’ll be enjoying strawberries for dessert today.
Later ...

Joyce, I wish I had half the energy of those ladies in the video. You are doing a great job with all of your decluttering. We hope to get DS#2 over at sometime this summer to clear off 3 shelf units of his stuff. I think over half of it can be donated but the rest of it will probably end up in the dumpster.
Ruth, since I don’t have a regular orthopedic doctor I went to an urgent care center that only handles orthopedic cases. I figured it would take a long time to get a regular appointment. I thought the place was super efficient , they did part of my registration over the phone. It is a walk in but you can also make an appointment, so I did that. The provider who examined me was a PA. He used an i-pad and spent at least 10 minutes explaining the results of the x-rays. He said the PT would work on strengthening my thighs so that would take some of the pressure off my knees. My first appointment will be tomorrow at 4. I am going to the same place that Bill went to. Good job on getting the sand box and slide for Mara, I’m sure they will be put to good use with the nice weather. That is great that Stan is getting back to his ham radio hobby.
I had a busy morning. I made a breakfast casserole for Bill. He cuts it into 10 servings and then freezes it. That way he can just microwave it and toast a piece of toast and he has had a decent breakfast and didn’t mess up the complete kitchen the way he usually does when he cooks breakfast. We plan on working outside this afternoon, I’ll probably count that as my exercise for the day since I will be picking up sticks. There are just a few small puddles left in the back yard, compared to big puddles just yesterday morning. Yesterday was nice weather, sunny and breezy so that helped with drying out the yard.

Good morning. Another lazy morning in MN!!! I need to get moving shortly and actually accomplish something. Joy, we’re still stay at home until the 18th, but expecting that a lot of things won’t be ok’d until later on. Restaurants with seating inside rather than just take out. I’m wondering when salons will open back up. I really need a haircut. But I would wear a mask and I know they will too.
You will have to send us some pictures of your basement when you get it all organized. I’d love to see the finished product. Will give me inspiration for getting ours more organized!!!
Are you still working from home? How is that going?
Dottie, good luck with the PT. The exercises I did really helped. Will you probably be looking at a new knee down the road? I think we have some orthopedic centers like that here too. I’ll eventually go to the one associated with our health care group because they have all my records and it’s just easier.
Thinking we will go to Menards and pick up some sand for the sandbox, and maybe more of the cabinet hardware we need. Then DH can work on the cabinet doors for something else to do. And then we can drop it all off at DS’s and he can put the sand in and get it situated where they want it on their patio.
I also need to stop at Target and pick up my yogurt. They don’t do it for pick up unfortunately. Will put together a small list since I’m going inside.
Ok, off I go. Have a good day all.
