Welcome to the CLUTTERBUSTERS thread. We are a daily thread, Monday thru Friday, and we have a combined weekend edition Saturday and Sunday. We welcome new members and are a friendly, helpful and supportive group.
Our purpose is for support and sharing of tips and strategies in dealing with weight and clutter issues in our lives. Many feel that the two are often tied together. So, we will lend a caring ear, and hopefully give and learn tips to help all of us.
We want to remove at least 5 items or spend at least 15 minutes clutter busting today!
Remember, it didn't pile up in one day so it isn't going away in a day either. One organizer says: you don't have to stop everything to get organized, you just have to start somewhere.

Good morning,
Yesterday ended up being a decent weather day after all. The rain that was supposed to start early afternoon never showed up. And it warmed up nicely. I keep the windows open unless it’s too windy, just for the fresh air. I did get my walk in early. Today it’s noticeably cooler, 38*. And it’s sunny. Next week I’m going to start adding some distance to my walk. I’m going to start walking the longer block. I want to get back to my 8000 steps a day.
Well, even though I barely got any work last week, I did get paid. It’s a flat weekly rate through the end of this month, not sure what happens after that. I would think I will be going back in starting June, at least on Saturday. I’ll be nervous, but in the same light I don’t want to stay home forever, that’s not mentally healthy for me.
NFL schedule is out, a nice distraction. I’m excited about the Bills upcoming season.
Since weather isn’t miserable, I’ll leave more basement work for the weekend. They are still talking about snow, but not like they thought.
Planning on ordering takeout from Olive Garden tomorrow. I’ll get the 2 entree special. For $12.99 it will definitely be worth it, but it won’t be WW friendly. I’ll enjoy a nice dinner on Sunday too.
Ruth - sounds like it was good for Mara to see you, good for you too. I don’t take Sudafed anymore, it gets me too jittery. During allergy season I use saline nasal spray a lot more and it helps.
My Fitbit worked fine yesterday, still at 85% battery life.
Dottie - interesting about the length of your legs being different. I walk terribly, the inside of me heals wear down first.
Cathy - always good to see you. I’m getting rid of my entire CD collection, except for about 10 that I actually use. I’m sure over 100 cds and DVDs are leaving my house, I haven’t listened or watched them in years. Just keeping some exercise DVDs and I’ll probably thin those out too.
They are going to let landscapers start mulching. They will be allowed to mulch, but not design or add flowers. That means my front yard will get done soon.
Time for coffee.
Enjoy your day

Good morning all. Cathy, so nice to see you here also!!!
To answer a question: I do use 2 Sudafed, each morning and night. It doesn’t make me jittery at all. When I first started on that kind of thing, the dr told me to try Actifed. He said it had a side affect of making people jittery. I could hardly stay awake on it. I’m an opposite reactor! So I switched to Sudafed, it works, doesn’t bother me, and it really helps with congestion.
Dottie, I’m surprised a doctor hasn’t prescribed an elevated shoe for your shorter leg, so that your hips don’t hurt. When DH had a spiral fracture of his tibia, the concern was it would heal and that leg would be shorter. The orthopedic surgeon who operated on him had had the same issue and had to wear an elevated shoe. He specialized in the surgery to insert endo rods into the tibia and his leg healed w/o shrinking. He then had the endo rods removed like a year later. And the amazing thing was, this dr just happened to be on call the night Stan broke his leg on the ski slope and ended up in that ER.
Well I got $60 for the clothes the gal picked up this morning. Size 18 mo things. But a lot gone! I made her a deal so she’d take more. And maybe someone else interested in 5’s. Sure hope so. Still a lot of organizing, picture taking, etc. going on.
I didn’t sleep well. Got up for 2 hrs and finished the book I was reading. And then didn’t sleep well because I knew I had to be up to put those clothes on the front porch for pickup. May take a nap.
It’s sunny here but cool, 40’s. Freeze warnings at night. Weather not looking great for the weekend. Younger DD said they are coming out on Sunday. Then Sunday night I’m getting a lasagna dinner from my favorite Italian Restaurant, thanks to older DD’s family. Looking forward to that. Not WW friendly, but it’s Mother’s Day.
Dottie, has to be hard to be home and not to be able to find what you need/want to get settled back in. Yes, it was nice to see Mara. And to know she hasn’t forgotten about us. She was kind of a Grandma’s girl on occasion and I miss that. I don’t miss the Toddler 2’s fit throwing, tossing of things (including Papa’s glasses), her shreiking, but miss her!!
ok, I need to get going and get something done. Will bbl to check in.
UPDATE: We got out and got in a 1.2 mi walk. As I said, it’s sunny but cool and windy. I wore gloves, should have covered my ears. They hurt it was cold!!! But we saw 5 beautiful swans on the lake at the end of our street.

Joyce, we did the $12.99 special from Olive Garden while we were still in Florida. It was good and we ended up having 3 meals and 1 lunch for both of us. Nice that you got paid even though you didn’t work much. I’m sure you are looking forward to getting out and seeing people. Bill had lots of CDs but never wants to get rid of some. He has put most of the songs he likes on the computer and our phones so he never listens to them, except for the Christmas season. I have a few exercise DVDs and some for the grandkids, but they are even outgrowing those.
Ruth, I agree that Sudafed helps me when I’m having allergy/sinus problems. I don’t like it when Bill takes Sudafed late in the day because he usually has trouble sleeping that night, although he always claims it isn’t from the Sudafed. Great job on selling the kids clothes. I’m sure the rest will be sold soon. I never mentioned my leg difference except to the orthopedic doctor I went to when I had bursitis in my hip. He said lots of people have that problem and pretty much brushed it off. I only went for one visit with him because I was able to resolve the bursitis problem. We are in for cold/sleet till tomorrow afternoon. It is raining now.
Hi Cathy, good to see you. Hope you are doing a little better. This has been a rough time for so many of us and I’m sure living alone makes it more difficult. Take care.
PT today went fine. He is still working on reducing the inflammation/swelling and therefore not any strength exercises yet. He does want me to walk daily beside the exercises he gave me to do. I probably won’t walk tomorrow but Sunday is supposed to be nice so will try to get out for a walk then. Bill keeps doing a little bit in his office daily. The walls are all painted and he is now working on cleaning up the floor. We bought the house in 1980 and it was built in 1967. It was a 13 year old handy mans special when we bought it. There were carpet tiles in all 4 bedroom and the dining room. Besides removing them was difficult because some of the backing stayed on the floor, they used the floor for their measurements. There were lines to show where the carpet tiles should be laid and measurements written all over the floor. Bill has to sand those parts down very gently, but he has done one other bedroom and the stairs and hallway and everything turned out fine so I’m sure this will look good also.
