moonriver, Denise, happy planting! Did you get below freezing last night? We sure did, but the sun is shining brightly so I think Iggy is going to dig and fertilize the tomato patch. We used to bring my Mom a planter every Mother’s Day that Iggy and I designed and planted ourselves with various flowers. We all looked forward to that and she had quite the collection of planters.

Thanks for the start, Chele, and for the calorie-free birthday cake. It's my only cake, but I will have some dairy-free Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia. We were close to freezing this morning, so not surprising that you were below. Aren't you glad your veggie plants had not yet been delivered so you weren't tempted to plant them and then the freeze came? Is your weather expected to moderate into next week? This has been a very weird weather year. What ever became of those planters you gave your DM? Did you mostly plant annuals? How much cooking did Iggy do yesterday? Did he manage to stay off your last nerve?
Kathy, congrats on the loss. As we frequently say, any loss is a good loss. Purple is your color! Only plan for the day is Dale will pick up dinner at Aubrey's--my favorite salmon soft tacos with a side of slaw. I'm glad Apple Pay finally went through for your checkout. That could have been annoying. Technology is great when it works! I hope DN will be able to get an internship in the fall. It's got to be tough on college students right now, even grad students who have a bit more educational freedom. I saw something a bit scary on the local news this morning. A couple of female tourists in a cabin near G'burg had a juvenile black bear break through a deadbolted door and into their kitchen to polish off about $500 in groceries before leaving. I hope he doesn't continue to do that or he won't live long.
I also thought Sauerruben sounds German, Linda. It's like sauerkraut, only with turnips instead of cabbage. Did you ever get a call back on your test? I've had some late calls after office hours, so I hope you heard something yesterday after hours. How are you feeling? How was the mushroom tartine last night? I have a package of cranberries I pulled out of the freezer when the UTI started, so I need to do something with them. Haven't figure out what, though.
Becky, I think some businesses are open but, from the looks of the parking lots at strip centers, people aren't showing up. How bad were your winds? I hope you didn't have any fires to deal with. How are the lower extremities feeling today?
I would think that the family birthing center should be a pretty good place to work, Denise. I've heard of a few pregant women testing positive and being symptomatic close to their times of delivery, but it's pretty rare. So that should be a pretty safe area. I'm happy to hear that Green is working well for you. Have you planted your garden yet? What varieties of cucumbers and tomatoes do you like to grow?
Liz, I hope you will have a very quiet weekend and can get some rest and mental recovery. I hope you can get a little time off after the worst of this passes. How are the pups? How's Gary and is his workplace staying fair covid free?
Dale went to shoot hoops and will call me when I need to put in the food order. I don't know whether we'll eat it for lunch or dinner. We may just do lunch so the food will be fresher. I fixed oats and eggs for Arya's breakfasts and cleaned up the kitchen, but no more plans for the day. I did 30+ minutes on the rowing machine and did a little weight workout. I need to start doing my standing yoga exercises as leg strengthening. I might do that after I post this. I've gotten a few birthday texts from NCGFs and probably others on FB, which I don't plan to spend much time on today (too depressing). Usually get a BD text from DSIL/DB. I also plan to spend ZERO time on MG today. I sent out my thoughts on the plant sale a few days ago (I had asked everyone to do this but I'm the only one who has so far), which included the complaints I received about people not wearing masks at plant pick up. Of course, that didn't go over well with the non-mask wearers. But I didn't feel it was right to just mention the positive stuff when eveyrthing wasn't positive. So now my mind is working on who to put on the nominating committee in September so I can put this behind me. I know--good luck with that! Thanks for all the birthday wishes!

nybuckeye, Yes it got below freezing here last night. That's so nice that you plant out at your moms grave I do too. I put out pink petunias for my mom and red petunias for my dad. I usually plant around memorial weekend cause then I know were free from frost. Cold here now I think its only in the 40s I even got chapped hands from the cold. It sucks.

texasless91, I usually don't plant until around memorial weekend then I know were free from frost. I grow cherry tomatoes and the bush cucumbers. I even tried growing peanuts they grew but I only got a handful of them. I like to try growing unusual things to see if they'll grow so that's why I tried it..

.Happy birthday 🎂🎊🎈 Karen !
We are heading for 101 today, but my back yard with grass, trees and shrubs is usually 5-6 degrees cooler than downtown Tempe. Front is rock and desert hot though. Should be Dry 90s next ten days. Not comfortable after a while, but not like humid 90s.
my weight is highest it has been since I lost 30 by 2011. I stopped eating at night, but not budging. dH has tons of snacks And I have been having a bit of dessert. Sigh. These are not good times fir stress eaters. So congrats to those who lose!
They are talking about social bubbles...a select few people outside your house you see.
I have to bathe the Micki...schnauzer bump time of year. It's like have a teen with greasy skin. groomer opened and Micki goes Tuesday...Fast drop off, Escape, pick up.. his toe nails are getting long and his feet slide on fur in the kitchen..I used to groom our dogs but he will not stay still. He is a saint for her!
My brother, VA clinic nurse, is 66, so they did not make him transfer to hospital floor duty. He is part of a skeleton crew that does phone appointments, renews meds, etc. Nobody comes in. He is isolated in his exam room and bored. He never sees grand kids.
I can go to dr Wed for my six month (postponed) checkup or do it by phone as DH did last week. But Zi am going for my six month teeth cleaning this week because after my old 85 year old dentist retired, the new one each time finds cavities and fillings needing replacing because decay is getting under them And Zi do not need that to sit there and get worse.
Barbers, nails. Salons opened Wednesday here. Then retail stores with restrictions on numbers, etc Friday.Monday restaurants open with distance restrictions. DH's birthday is Monday and Nope....not going out. Probably curbside plus my baking him a pineapple upside down cake.
forgot tomorrow is Mother’s Day...I am not one, And ours have been gone 30 years. Then too, these days I do not even know what day it is and the calendar is pretty much empty.
Went to the little pet supplies store nearby For Micki's omega 3 capsules (which is now doing curbside), dropped mail in the box by them, did ATM at Bank, the braved Safeway...day before mothers day not best time but I pretty much had one way aisles to myself. Got a lot of stuff the health/ organic stores Like Sprouts do not carry. Then unpacked and cleaned some, put some in dining room to wait a few days, stored some in garage And repacked a bunch for fridge. Had to beat back hungry hubby until it was done! He forgets. then disinfected kitchen counters, ditches, doorknobs, appliance handles, my handbag and walker and card, the car wherever I touched it....this virus things gets tiring.

Chele, thanks for the start. I always like your ascii birthday cakes. I'm sure your planters were appreciated. DBIL brings them for DM and then sometimes replants them. I don't think that will happen this year, but we will have a get together to celebrate all the events we've missed when it's safe to do so.
Karen, Happy Birthday!! Enjoy your salmon and B&J's. I think the Instacart shopper was new and didn't have her physical card yet. She asked me to release the payment on Apple Pay and I don't have an iPhone or Apple Pay! I was picturing the whole order going poof at that point, but somehow she got it through. Not sure on the educational freedom of the grad students. DN is having some trouble getting the courses he wants. There's a reason UCF's nickname is You Can't Finish. Wow on the bear in the cabin! That is something I've wondered about here too. What really stops them from coming in the houses if they want to? Thank goodness, it's pretty rare. I wonder if they could see food through the windows. Good for you for taking a day off from MG!
Waving to all. It's an overcast day and kind of muggy. We're supposed to get rain tomorrow.

Karen, I hope your birthday evening is going well. We won’t really warm up until Thursday. We auctioned off most of Mom’s things because DB lives across country and Iggy and I did not want a trailer load of stuff to haul back home. We planted annuals. Iggy did quite a bit of cooking, so he didn’t have time to be bored.
Linda, I hear you on comfort eating. I have tried to keep a lid on it which is not easy to do with Iggy around, so I know what you mean about Bob and his snacks. I am glad your DB is isolated even if he is bored. My DB is like me. We can always find something to entertain us even at home. Good luck at the doctor, groomer and dentist.
Kathy, we are going to miss grandnephew’s 3rd birthday next weekend and I haven’t seen the new grandnephew in person yet, but it is a necessity at the moment. One day this will just be a memory.
Liz, I hope you are getting some R&R.
Becky, are you watching services online tomorrow? I figured since you weren’t scheduling a haircut you wouldn’t be going to church. Is it still dry and windy?
Iggy finished prepping the tomato patch aNd planted purple basil, Italian basil and something else in pots. Fingers crossed the plants arrive Monday, although it will still be a little cold to plant outside.
Have a good evening.

Chele Thanks for the start. What a wonderful gift for your mother in the past. Karen Happy Birthday.I hope you had a wonderful day.Salmon tacos sound so good.Yesterday the winds were gusting up to 30 MPH. I went for a walk this morning and everything seemed to hurt.I figured out why my foot didn't hurt yesterday was I walked inside instead of out on the road.I have rested some after and did quite a bit of cleaning today. The only retail store we have here is Bealls and I got an email saying they aren't opening yet.I think only one hair salon has opened. moonriver I hope you enjoy your flowers. Linda Wow on 101.Our high was 77 and it has been very pleasant. Kathy Congrats on your loss. Chele If my knee feels okay we may go to church tomorrow. They don't stream the service until late evening now. They have to do the distancing and I think everyone wore masks last week.If I don't feel like it we will stay home and find something to do.We only have 1 hair salon open that I know of and I have only been there a few times so I'm not sure how much I would trust them.I am thinking of letting my hair grow for awhile.

.dog mom here.Dh and dog went for walk, but Micki got four houses down the street by a light pole and lifted a front paw and had to be carried home. not fun with 28 pound dog. He does this if any little thing sticks, like pine needle and is fine after clearing it, but not today. Thought it was a burr but nothing.no bleeding. He will unwillingly limp around a bit, doesn't want to press in it but isn't complaining if i press on it. in case of ant bite, gave him half a Zyrtec. it is of course Sunday and in best of times that is hours at ER vet, which might not even be available. so we shall see, maybe go to vet tomorrow for curbside service...they get dog, talk to you on phone, bring dog back to car. DH's birhday, sigh.

Linda, you are so right about how tiring all the wiping down groceries, etc., is. With everything else starting to open up, I wonder how much longer it will be before the pet store is no longer curbside pick up. It sounds like things are reopening quickly there. Yes, I'll bet Safeway was a zoo, since most people won't be taking mom out for lunch tomorrow. It's good that you have a bit of an oasis in your back yard. But when it's that hot, it's all relative. I am going to put off the dentist for a while, especially after the crown from H&!! the last time I was there. At least I finally got reimbursed for it. I haven't been a stress eater for several years, but being at home so much also leads to boredom overeating. How was Micki's bath? Or was that scheduled for AFTER the walk where he came up lame? Poor Bob having to carry Micki back home. I'm glad they didn't get far. Do I understand that Micki is still limping this morning? Curbside vet might be the best deal. Happy birthday to Bob. I guess I forgot his was the day after mine.
I hadn't heard about "You Can't Finish", Kathy. That was my undergrad. Never a problem at Texas, App State, or East Tennessee, but then I was only an education major. Could be very different in aerospace engineering. Very unfortunate for students, however. They didn't say which day the bear incident happened, so I don't know if it might have been warmer weather and they could smell the food through open windows. I've seen bears break into cars and that is pretty common, but breaking into a house is really usual. But like you said, what's to stop them? What are the chances you might have the same shopper for the next Publix order? The missed-events get together sounds like a wonderful idea. Sorry about the weather, but I do hope you get a little rain for the pond. Our lake is now to full pool. Salmon tacos were wonderful, and they were a bit more stuffed than the ones at the other Aubrey's we went to before they built a local one. I didn't totally take yesterday off from MG, but more than usual. I was back and forth on text and email with another member of the plant sale committee who had been president about 7 years ago, and she has been helping me maintain my sanity. Her assessment is that the negative responses from the older non-mask wearer is age related. The irony is she is only I year older than me.
Chele, we did the same with most of DMIL's things, mainly because of the way Dale's sister was acting. She just wanted the cash, and I'm sure her share is long spent. Sorry you'll have to miss GN's 3rd birthday, but you were able to be there for the 1st and 2nd ones. Perhaps you can have a big celebration for all the missed events like Kathy's family plans to do. You're right that some day this will be a memory, and I hope it won't be very long. But the long term effects could be for the rest of our lives in one way or another. I'm glad Iggy got the beds prepared and I hope you will receive beautiful plants via UPS tomorrow.
How are you feeling, Becky, and did you go to church today? How are they enforcing occupancy restrictions?
Yesterday was nice. Good food, we watched a couple of videos, and I now have a way more comfortable inflatable vest for kayaking. Of course, it was too chilly to be out on the lake to try it out. We set a record low of 35 this morning, breaking a record from 1906. I'll do my lower body yoga workout in a while and then maybe make some masks. Dale wants one that ties and I need to find me a pattern that is more comfortable for longer term wear that what I have. We have a sunny day and it's supposed to get into the 60s today. Heat wave!!
Waving to the rest of the gang.

Karen, glad you like your b‘day present and hope you get to try it out soon.
Linda, happy birthday to Bob. What a birthday present, carrying Micki home. I wonder what he did to paw? I would wait until tomorrow to take Micki to regular vet. You would all be miserable at emergency vet.
Waving to rest of the gang.
Allergies kicked in for both of us so we are not too energetic. I made a veggie pizza for lunch for us and worked out on the recumbent bike. I am done for the day. Achoo, drip, blow, repeat.
