Good morning from snowy MA. Not sticking but dancing all around. It does look pretty. I slept well last night for which I'm grateful. Will just be parking it at home today. I'll walk later on. Don't mind walking in snow but not the rain
Today is my dear deceased sister Marie's bday. Can't believe it's been 8 years. She'd be 74. I shall sit and share a fond memory of her especially today as I always do.
Will CBL...stay safe

Hi Ann and friends,
We are getting swirling flakes of snow today, too! It is pretty and looks like someone shook a snow globe. I like it!
Ann, it is so hard to lose a sibling. I’ll be thinking of Marie today. You must have been very close and I know you’d have been a great sister. Take care.
Off to make breakfast-eggs and one slice of bacon and Thomas’s light muffin.

Good Morning, WW Friends~
Happy Saturday!! We stayed up later than usual last night to watch a "Dateline - Mystery" and really enjoyed it. The Friday night "Dateline" runs from 9-11 and several times we have wanted to stay up, then didn't (our usual bedtime is 10). But last night we made a decision to *stay awake* and watch it all - and we did!!
We had Thomas' Bagel Thins for breakfast with LF cream cheese and Hormel precooked bacon slices and a fresh fruit bowl of mandarin & banana. DH doesn't plan to be home for lunch, so I think I will have a Premier Protein shake. Supper is still up in the air, as I have all the fixin's for two different meals in the fridge. We will probably have one of them and have the other one on Monday. Tomorrow we are BBQing baby back ribs.
It is quite cold here today (actual 32; RF24) and windy. I didn't walk yesterday because of the sudden drop in temp, and today may be the same. But perhaps I will bundle up and venture out - who knows??
Ann ~ I will be remembering you as you 'celebrate' Marie's birthday!
Judy ~ Did you see my post on yesterday's thread regarding Sirius radio? I was wondering how it worked out for you.
I don't have much going on today. I just started a load of towels in the washer, and sorted a dark load of our clothes. Otherwise, it will be a quiet day, probably reading.
BBL. Make a great day!!

Hi Ann ~
It is cold and windy here as well. Nonetheless, I made it twice around the complex. The last 1/4 of the walk is uphill - and it was against the wind!! So I definitely got my exercise for today. I will probably go again later.
Now I will join you with the Kindle for entertainment. Talk later .....

I put my 'big girl panties' on along with a lot of other gear and went with Carl and LuLa. LuLa did her thing and wanted NO PART of the great outdoors with all its wind. We took her home and continued to the mailbox and took a rather quick hood walk. Some of the time we lucked out with the wind to our back...other times...not so.
Happy to say that I am home where it is nice and toasty warm.

Hi Sue, yes I did see your tips on Sirius and Alexa. I’m sorry I forgot to mention it! I am going to try to connect then later on today. We’ve been busy with this n that all day. Thank you for the instructions. Those ribs sound mouth watering. It made me sad to think of the ribs in your DD’s VBF’s freezer. Little things like that get me. The night my mom had a stroke, I found her latest novel opened on her nightstand and found that sad as well as a new blouse she’d just ordered with the tags hanging in her closet. Don’t know why that sticks with me. Guess it’s because she had every intention to keep living. We had chatted till 11 pm the night she suffered that devastating stroke and died several days later . Ok no more being maudlin!
Ann, it sure is cold out. No walking pour moi! Have a good one- back to my book. Lunch was a salad and a ham low carb wrap. I made shrimp scampi last night. Came out great. Tonight will be chili. TTFN

Hello friends! We also have a cool snap here after thunderstorms yesterday. Though a high of 70 is predicted, I don't think we'll see it, as it's still in the upper 60's with a cool breeze. I haven't walked yet but will soon. I have been baking bread to bring to the DDs tomorrow and wanted to get done with that first. I just took the loaves out of the oven and the house smells scrumptious! I was down in the dumps and stressed yesterday and decided to spare all of you. We learned late Thursday evening that two young men, both sons/grandsons of friends of ours, got off work and headed home. On the way, approaching each other from different directions in their respective pickups, they decided to play "chicken". The result is one dead and the other, with a broken leg and minor injuries, charged with negligent homicide. My heart is broken for both families, as well as for the damage done to relationships in a small town like ours. People tend to take sides and it takes years for things to smooth over. We saw this several years ago when one family's boxers killed a young son of another family who lived next door. No one acted out of malice, but the damage was done, nonetheless. As if that wasn't bad enough, Dee called me, sobbing. Her step-mother had called 3 of her 4 siblings and told them that Dee has one week to get out of the house. She has already given up her rent-subsidized apartment and cannot afford a rental otherwise. Her long-term disability checks from her last job terminate effective July 1 and she will have only a small SS check to live on. The family decided to get together this morning to discuss things. I calmed her as best I could and started researching estate law online. I called her back and let her know that from what I could find, as a part-owner of the property, she cannot be evicted. Her siblings would have to file for partition of the estate, which would take a long time. Or they could demand rent and if she can't afford it, she could file for partition. She believes her father has a pre-nuptial agreement which precludes the stepmother from having any say-so over Dee's late mother's estate and that her father lost usufruct when he remarried, though the family has allowed him continued access to the properties and income because they love him. To make my sad/bad mood complete, I was up 1.7 lbs. at WI. Part of it may have been the delicious shrimp dinner from Hottails I had the night before, but I was still up this morning. Today, things are looking up. I was notified I won a prize in the Master Gardener's raffle and headed to town to pick up my prize - 2 large pots of geraniums and cone flowers. They are SO pretty! Then, Dee texted to say her dad told her she can stay in the house as long as she wants and her siblings are all in agreement and stood up for her with the stepmother, for a change. What a relief! The bread is baked and I am very much looking forward to our Mother's Day picnic at DD1's house tomorrow. We will bring a bucket of fried chicken from the Village Cafe. The weather is predicted to be sunny and warmer temps in the mid-70's. I also got a gift of an ample supply of yeast from DD3's DMIL in the mail today. Her boss had gifted her with a large amount of bulk yeast and she didn't see how she would ever use it all and was happy to share. She's a sweetheart and is very kind to my DD3. I don't remember which of you first recommended Sunny Radio, but I love it and listen to it often using my iPad and our Bluetooth speaker. We also have music channels with our cable subscription and listen to a variety of music through that. I could also do SiriusXM, but don't feel the need. Hamburgers and air fries are on the menu for tonight. Last evening, DH made stuffed zucchini and yellow squash that turned out great. Ann - Enjoy some good memories of your sister, Marie. We never stop missing those we love, but the pain does lessen. Brrrr to the cold walk! Sue - You are another hardy walker! Good for you! Now you can read and rest with an easy conscience. Judy - I have been thinking of my mom a lot lately, too. When they're gone, they leave a hole in our hearts that no one else can fill. The things they taught us live on in our memories, as you realized in making your list of what she would have told you. I once told a friend, who was a good bit older than me, that I missed my mama's hugs. After that, she would always give me a "mama hug" when we saw each other. Sadly, she has passed on, too. Time to get some more things done and get in a walk!

I just got back from my second walk of two times around the complex. It is still quite cold and also windy!!
We decided on chicken for supper - with fingerling potatoes, sliced carrots and baby peas. Good comfort food!
Judy ~ Glad you got the message about Sirius.
Pam ~ Enjoy your Mother's Day gathering.
Ann ~ I don't blame you for avoiding the cold.
I told DH that I will especially miss his VBF tomorrow, because for years he has always sent me a Mother's Day greeting.
Enjoy the evening!

((((((((((((Judy))))))))))))) I too have similar memories of my DM. Finding different articles of clothing etc. and even though she's been gone since 1/1/1985 I still miss her so. She was my best friend. There are still some nights when I wake Carl up talking to her. He says it's like listening to a one sided phone conversation. I was weepy today also thinking of my sister. She passed less than 2 weeks after her bday. Okay as you said no more being maudlin. Our weather today was all over the map. At one point it was hailing with such force that it was literally bouncing off the pavement while the sun was just as bright as it could be! Then the wind picked up and I fell asleep listening to the wind chimes. Now it's spitting snow and looks like a snow globe out there. It's not sticking so there's that! Pam ((((((((hugs)))))))))))) giving you a virtual 'mamma hug' I can't believe all that you are going through. I know what you mean when people 'take sides' and that takes eons to get through. Know that I am keeping each situation in my thoughts and prayers. So happy to hear a good outcome with Dee. Also nice that you have a Mother's Day picnic to look forward to with great weather! Normally Carl takes me out for Mother's Day but this year we will stay put. I have a frozen lasagna that I made up awhile back and we will have that with salad and garlic sticks tomorrow. I did drop a measly .2 but was grateful for that. I know tomorrow I'll be joining the gaining ranks but oh well....it's a holiday and although I don't have children, LuLa insists (((Sue))) I know that you will miss DH's VBF tomorrow being Mother's Day. Enjoy your comfort food. I was amazed that I managed to walk 3.6 miles today. I guess that short walk and my household stuff added up! Time now to park it on the sectional. Sweet dreams

DH and I had a lovely time in the green room, planning a patio expansion and chatting with the neighbors who live behind us. I think my DH is not happy unless he has a "project" going, so I just try to mold his vision into something I want, too, lol. Afterwards, he went in to watch news and I took a brisk walk. I was feeling strong today and managed 2 miles in just over 32 minutes. I am enjoying my audiobook, The Weekenders by Mary Kay Andrews, so sat on the patio and listened to more after my walk. Supper is over and the kitchen is cleaned. Time to find jammies and watch a St. Elsewhere episode or two.
Sweet dreams to all!
