Good Morning ~
OMG it SNOWED and SNOWED yesterday, Friday!!! Where did that come from?? It didn't stick but it came down very heavy most of the day - then very light and fluffy the rest of the day. Today the snow is just on bare ground and roof tops. Seriously?? MAY 8th we get SNOW??
Lisa - ya didn't warn me you were sending THIS!
Today is supposed to be COLD (30s) with strong winds...not as bad as predicted but still 20 mph winds - still planning to hold Linds' Graduation moment on the front porch. Hoping to put our balloons out there but eehhh, the winds might pop them! Weather has changed for Sunday - no longer sunny and 50 degrees. Now it's high 50s with RAIN all day. I'll wait to hear from the Mom Committee if the time of Grad Ceremony/Block Party gets moved up or postponed until next weekend.
No change being felt here yet entering the Yellow Phase. Still wearing masks inside stores and I think our crowd gatherings must be less than 10 (I thought 25 but my neighbor corrected me - and she is the County resource on COVID-19. It's her job)

Lindsey is home for the weekend - she arrived about 4:30 yesterday! So good to see her! She's the member of our family that makes everyone laugh and feel at ease....it's been a rough go with just Carly, Gary and I lol Work News (feel free to skip over this:) I did not get a single 'Fitness' Friday thing in...ugh...I started the work day by finishing a report, then sat through a School wide Staff meeting where once again the Prince read a prepared speech written by DL. This we know, because it was all about 'how grateful we are for all the hard work of our Operations staff" (DL and her team) gag Then the doom and gloom speech began. Public Charter schools are under attack in the state of PA and school districts want to withhold money owed to us (we educate the student so the school taxes should follow the child. Districts believe we educate the child BUT the school tax is theirs to keep) simply put. So with this in mind, the Prince said we have less of a budget which means possible Staff cuts...uh oh...the Teachers are furious as they are still working without a Contract and none of us have seen a raise, not even a cost of living raise, BUT DL, the Prince, and their 'favorites' all received hefty raises which are higher than most. It's laughable. DL promoted our maintenance guy to 'Buildings and Grounds Supervisor' and he now earns more than me. Add to it she convinced the Board we NEED a new driveway and grand gated entrance for 'Student Safety' ($100,000 bill) but again, none of Teachers or I have seen a raise. I told the teachers, "Go to the Parents" as they LOVE our teachers and could put pressure on our Board to do the right thing. Should get interesting...I refuse, absolutely refuse to feel threatened they will cut my position. Everyone is replaceable, I know that - so I have mentally prepared myself to go with my Plan B: early retirement and contract out.

Carole - Hooray for a decision made on the Roof! Sounds like the roofing company is eager for your business so let's hope you do get on the early schedule! Sorry for sending this nasty weather your way...blech....you might need a Plan B for Mother's Day as the winds are very strong and temps are more at the 'feels like' level not the air level. I plan to make steak on our George Foreman grill for dinner tonight (cut in strips) with salad and roasted potatoes. Tomorrow I would love a roast beef but we laugh as that is the one meal I ALWAYS make when Lindsey is home for a weekend and she rolls her eyes...might need to alter that. I'm hanging in there with following WW Plan by a thread...I track every day, Plan meals every day, but the activity is definitely lacking since last weekend and the stress from Work and the stress (good stress) of Lindsey's graduation and her future made for a rough week. Plus this COVID-19 is insane. My weight is up 2, down 1, up 3, down 4 etc...sigh Sue - how is your back feeling? I noticed mine is so much better since moving upstairs into Linds' room and our new desk. The office chair I had Carly bring upstairs from basement storage is MUCH better when sitting for long periods compared to a Dining Room stick chair with an ortho-support seat cushion. How did painting go? I did see your picture started on FB, I think? Hoping the strawberry plants survived the freeze. I remember my brother used to grow strawberries on his property in FL and he explained how they had to run out in middle of night to cover in plastic and I think light up heat lamps?? to save them. The new desk is officially built - I had only one 'oops' located inside the drawer (ugh) but I think I can use Gorilla Glue and piece that together or I told Linds I could order a new part. She does not care! She's pleased with it too and the drawer WORKS lol Today she plans to sort through her old high school stuff and re-arrange the bedroom/office. I begged her to take down the 'Boy Bands' posters as they stare at me while I work. She laughed, "They are supporting YOU!", she said. We plan to get her a new TV too as she has never had one even when at college. She has a plan for where to set that up already. But, no rush, as she plans to stay at her apartment for another month at least - depending on whether or not things open up and she can land a waitress job or something. She might have to do retail as their large Outlet Mall did re-open. Jo - glad Em is being recognized for her HS graduation!! Our local HS did the same with yard signs and are planning a virtual video presentation online in June. Most colleges have done NADA - Linds received a tassel in the mail. But that is far more than what other colleges offered. Good news your boss fought to keep your team! Keep us in the loop if they approve your work plan to remain home and go to the office once a month.

Shelly - love the new deck/porch! We had new wooden steps with a platform built last October. The wood was pre-treated so no worries going into the winter/spring with wet weather on it. But this summer I will stain it to match the deck. I'm so sorry about your special Birthday being a struggle to have recognized! I get it, as my birthday was pushed to the side once a niece and nephew shared mine. But STILL! This is a milestone birthday for you {{{HUGS}}}} Gabrielle - well, how did you do with the work week? That was a LOT of responsibility suddenly placed on your shoulders by the Superintendent. Wow! A bit of an honor, yes, to be so highly regarded but seriously not much notice!! Hoping this weekend you can find some down time to enjoy your nice weather and Mother's Day plans. Need to get moving here - want to get in the shower before the gang rises and suddenly we are stepping over each other LOL

Good morning!
Long run today and (sorry to tell those of you with snow...) it is supposed to hit 90 degrees so I need to get an early start. DH already left for his (by the way....he is running with other people after telling ME that I shouldn't. This morning I announced to him that I have been running by myself since Feb 22nd and I am not doing it anymore--sorry for his "anxiety" about getting COVID. He apologized and realizes that he isn't following his own rules). So, hopefully, starting next weekend I will have some company. Another 10-hour day yesterday--probably how it willl be for at least the next few weeks but the work is interesting and I know it's important so, it is what it is! I am feeling pretty bad right now because I haven't really bought anything for my mom for Mother's Day...I don't buy for her online (she has everything) and, with everything closed (still), I just haven't been able to even think of what to get her. Maybe I can think of something while on my run today.
Christine: Oh, I am sorry that the weather didn't cooperate! I loved reading of the plans that the "moms" had created--what an amazing event! I know that, in the end, you are just happy to have your ray of sunshine home this weekend, but sorry that it didn't work out. Can you delay the cupcakes? So, I am wondering, do you think the friend who walked with you the other day would meet you on a regular basis? I am telling you, the reason why I have been able to do my running for years has been mostly due to the company while running (except for the past 10 weeks!). Just a thought...it's a nice way to start the day! Wow to the conversation about the budget at work. Here in CA they have announced cuts of at least 20% for next year for schools. Uggh....a rough year ahead. And the Governor is still telling people to "hang on" for a bit longer before opening ANYTHING up. Right now only florists and retailers are open for curbside pickup. Grocery stores have remained open....no other retailers and people are getting VERY angry. In our county we have had 6 weeks with no new cases and nothing is "allowed" to open up yet. Uggh....I am SO sorry to read what is happening to your school but I am glad that you have a back up plan. Hugs to you!

Shelly: I was so happy to read about the celebration of your birthday at work! Yay! And today is the celebration at your house, right? By the way...on the deck....STAIN IT. I am speaking from experience. Like you, I LOVE the look of the natural but, trust me, one season of the blazing sun and it won't look anything like that anymore. It is worth it to stain it. Also, right now you need to decide how often you want to stain it. If you are okay with every year or two, then a light stain is fine. If you think it will be 2 years or more, then use something more "dense" to stain it. We learned our lesson! It looks so good--what a nice size of porch! Have a wonderful day!
Sue: Oh wow, the mask sounds miserable! So sorry! I hope you get some relief from it soon. Glad that DM will be moved (by the way, I forgot that all of you had medical background!) and sorry for the COVID restrictions--I know that it must be tough. Hope that you have a good weekend and don't have to use the heater too much!
Carole: So, is it a metal roof that you are getting? It MOST definitely will raise the value of your home when you sell it! The roof question always comes up with buyers. How exciting to have these things lined up! I hear you, I don't like to feel "taken" by a salesman, but (in the end) you are the one who will have the roof and can move on and not worry about it any more, right?
Uh oh...it is late. I need to get going but will continue when I get home. Have a good morning ladies!

Morning Christine and all to come....woke to bright sunshine, crazy winds and 34° temps...hoping that was as low as it got around here and then maybe the strawberries and asparagus will survive this final cold snap of the year!!! Temps have gone up 3 degrees since I got up 40 minutes ago so that's a good sign!!
I had so much fun doing the ZOOM paint night last night!! It was so good to actually see peoples' faces and hear their voices!! The usual paint night banter started quickly and the laughs were abundant!!! We got to see hubbies, kids, pets....it was such a boost to my day!! We all raised our glass of wine to toast the day and being able to "sort of" spend it together!! While being together physically, this was the next best thing and I look forward to the next one in probably 2 weeks!!
Happy, Happy 50th Birthday Shelly!!! Make it a GREAT Day!!! ♥♥♥
Shelly....glad you had Bailey to help you "rise and shine" yesterday!!! What and AWESOME birthday surprise for you yesterday!!! See, people do remember and let you know how special you really are!! What a thought gift too from everyone!!! Yay for getting back to the gym as well....WTG following Carole's "Fitness Friday" lead!!
Shelly...since the extension of the "stay at home" order yesterday, county reps are writing to Governor Wolfe with statistics as to why locally we should open. Heck, our numbers are better than some of the counties on the list to open next week...Pittsburgh area has much higher numbers than we do, our hospitals have capacity now to handle more patients and be able to also start including elective surgeries....it's BS in my book!! I'm sure with the bombarding of local county reps there might just be a change....it's getting ugly around here!
Enjoy your day off today....let others help and if you have no volunteers....ask!! It's your day too and you should NOT be doing all the work to make the party for DFIL a success....others can lend a hand!!!
Christine...thanks for keeping the snow on your side of the state...I saw it could be several inches in some areas!! Thankfully it didn't stick where you are!! Yes, we will only get to the low 40's but the winds make it feel like low 30's. As beautiful and sunny as it looks....Jason will likely NOT be doing anything outside except checking to see that everything survived the night... We have to make it through tonight with another low temp around freezing but we will still have some winds so fingers crossed we can make it through w/o losing stuff. The good thing today/tonight is that there is no rain he can go out and cover things with burlap, sheet or light blanket to protect them tonight....he couldn't do that last night because of the rains....

I have an easy day ahead... while prepping for tomorrow, so going to be lazy this morning! Let me grab more coffee and catch up on FITNESS FRIDAY! LOL
Eating was OK... got almost 6k steps - 5 out of 10 dots on my Fitbit - all in all a pretty good day! Work day was a struggle - with bank internet issues... they lost their server - so of course I went down here! LOL Add to that they were moving my (work) PC from my desk - so Sandie can work at my desk... and POOF... in the middle of my work here - I got the blue screen that said "shutting down"! I texted the supervisor that was in the office... she had tried to notify me that it was going to happen - but my phone went to voice mail... ummm, yeah - I was on the phone working with a teller In.A.Branch.! UGH!
So I used that time to go walk around my yard! Problem with walking around my yard, is then I find more and more things I want to FIX! LOL
Anyway... got a text that my PC was back up and running... could NOT log in... texted Shannon to ask her to make sure it was powered UP/Turned ON... nope... that was the problem! OY VEY!
So a long work day - but then Tracy & I went and got groceries for tomorrow... still need to figure out what we want for the upcoming week... not easy to shop when the shelves are bare, and they are limiting what I can buy!
Christine: Once again you and your neighborhood sound amazing!! I want THAT kind of neighborhood when I retire... I swear... Good job getting it all pulled together!! SOunds like such FUN!
Oh My... good for you NOT going down without a fight... sorry it is coming to this for you {{{hugs}}} WHEN does DL actually retire??
Sue: Hope the back is feeling better - how was your last 1/2 day?? Well now they have opened flower shops, gun shops, and golf courses... now there is a "discrimination" fight with golf courses - for Not.Allowing.Carts.! Good luck with your BD celebration for Jackson... I say DO IT... even if not your county - you are simply going to your family. Don't include the "neighborhood"... We are doing MD tomorrow... we will be 12. Saw the painting on FB, looks good - so glad your back was OK by then!
Christine: YAY for walking and visiting with your friend!! WOO HOO on Linds completing school!! YAY For you - we are getting the snow... and the wind... and the sun... but only 33 degrees! AWESOME that Gary gets to return to work too!!
GOOD GOING - getting your handyman set to start.
UGH to having to deal with more Disney changes... {{{hugs}}} GOod luck -hopefully you can get things figured out and can start truly planning! Will you go if the parks are not yet reopened???
Jo: WHEW Good news on the job!! YAY for your boss fighting to keep you all working!! Congrats to Em for graduating - and YAY to the school for finding a way to honor them! Yes, I am so glad they are bringing back the ones NOT working first! About time they get back to work! LOL
Yes, family is coming up for a late day cook out, Tim works so they will be here around 3... I can't wait! I think the last time I even SAW Eden was March 26th! Apparently my sisters have gone to their house - for an outdoor "hello"... but I was told they were "locked down" and they didn't want Easter basket so WHY would I think to just show up to say hi?? Whatever... once again they get to me...
Oh so glad your DM will be in rehab a short time... and even with no visitors, hopefully Jim & Annie will keep on them about her meds and pushing her to move!
Yesterday BJs was FULLY Stocked with TP, and paper goods, but NO MEAT! LOL Yes, driving home it started to sprinkle, but no real rain that I know if... and snow flurries this morning... which I could easily do without - but seems to be over now... sun is shining... still cold and windy out though! Hoping you were able to ward off the frost and save the crops!
Shelly: NICE! So glad your employees took the time to CELEBRATE YOU ♥ Nice "gift" too... See how appreciated you truly are??
Oh I completely agree with your DH... seal it right away! We let ours "set" for the first year, then it became 2-4-7-10- It enver did get done until I had to do it... to try to SAVE it... but in hte end the wood was starting to rot away anyway... so YES Seal or STAIN RIGHT AWAY!
No worries about coming HERE today my friend - ENJOY YOUR DAY ♥

Good morning! We had our high tea with the memory care my Mum is in yesterday. It was a nice celebration. They had the activity director playing a guitar and singing and the residents sang too. All the family members were on the zoom call and they walked around so we could see our loved ones. My mum tried to leave after she ate but they had her sit back down. Later about 3/4 of the way thru she was gone. She went back to her room. Friday’s at 4pm is my time to Skype with her. She looked very tired. Not her happy self. We did talk though. It was good to hear her. Thursday during our sisters zoom call with my Mum when we got on they said she ate breakfast went back to her room and went back to bed. I’m a little worried about her. She is usually up and dancing with the staff. Maybe she just had a bad week.
its cold here! 30sbthis morning and the same tomorrow. By next Friday it will be back up to the 80s. I can’t believe how winter is holding on. We had rain yesterday, all day.

Christine...bummer tomorrow's weather doesn't look like it will cooperate for the block party....hope you can get a break in the rain to celebrate all the grads!! So glad Lindsey got home for the weekend....I know it's tough with just Carly and Gary.....how long will she be staying this time??
I figured you wouldn't feel much change going from red to yellow...except people like Gary that could go back to work...I think that is the biggest thing and then 25 people or less gatherings with social distance!! I have to admit, while I think we should have been moved to yellow at this point, next Sunday is Jackson's birthday and I will bring down his birthday gifts!! Yes, I will be a "rebel" but it's time.
WOW Christine....sorry for the HUGE upheaval at work!! Yes, that is doom and gloom but as you said you have a Plan B and will land on your feet! After all you have weathered the past couple years this is just one more hurdle to tackle! Makes me so angry that some have been given raises, promotions, etc while others that work just as hard if not harder for the students and parents have seen nothing!! That is so unfair!! Hopefully the teachers can rally parents to put pressure on the "powers that be" to make some changes. No....at this point you can't feel threatened in your position...it will play out and thankfully...you have a Plan B!!!
Thanks for asking...my back is feeling pretty much normal now. Sad thing was...I was sitting doing handwork when I felt it! I always grab several stacks of journals at a time to put at my spot, then cover tip them all, then return them to the skid of done ones. I was reaching for the last stack I had brought and I will admit it was at an odd angle and this journal happened to be one of the heavier ones we do and as I turned and lifted a bit....TWEAK!! Not bad but enough it made me stop!! Thankfully a day or so of pampering and I'm good as new!!
Christine...glad the new desk is helping your back. It is amazing how much your "work station" effects your entire body!! LOL, sorry for the "oops" on the desk drawer...hopefully the gorilla glue will work!! I've never used it but people swear by it for things like that!! LOVE the "boy bands" supporting you comment! Lindsey cracks me up!! Sounds like she is looking ahead and planning what the next several months will hold! Hopefully she will find a job to get her through!!
Gabrielle...90°....that's crazy!!! WOW, I'm shocked that Ed is running with others after being so rigid about you and Max being with others!! Enjoy your run today and yes, it definitely needs to be early with those temps!! Sorry for the long work day and Friday and ahead of you for the foreseeable future but the work is important and in good hands with you at the helm!!! I'm sure you DM is not really worried about a Mother's Day gift from you!! Maybe plan a "rain check" celebration for when restrictions get lifted and you can have a fun mother/daughter day at a salon, a show, or bistro....something she loves yet has not been able to do for the past several months!! Something fun to look forward to!!
Carole...YAY for an easy day today!! Yesterday I did manage 8 of 9 dots 7534 steps....not too bad for being home all afternoon and evening......Glad your "fitness Friday" went pretty well for you!! WOW, quite the mix of work technology problems yesterday!! Don't you hate that dreaded "blue screen"!! LOL, yes I'm sure walking around the yard lets you see more and more "projects" to be done! This working from home might cost you a fortune till it's all said and done!!!
Carole...besides bare shelves at the stores are you noticing the prices of the few things you can get has been "jacked up" There are lots of things limited here too!! Jason was able to get me ground beef yesterday when he stopped for the broccoli (sale 99¢/pound) and bananas and milk!! Bananas and milk are the two things we have been buying weekly!! Anyway the hamburg was about $1.50 more per pound than normal!! I had heard others at work complaining about them meat prices being up but since I had not bought any until yesterday I hadn't really taken notice. He called me from the store to ask if I wanted to "pay that much" and I said YES, YES, YES...I want a burger on the grill tomorrow for Mother's day! I laughed when he came in the house, handed me the bag of hamburg and said "Happy Mother's Day"!! I don't care...I'm excited for my burger tomorrow!!
WOW Carole...that's odd...our golf courses are allowing carts but only one person per cart unless you actually live together. Not sure why this is a "discrimination" issue unless the people that are not capable of walking and carrying their own clubs feel like they are left out??? One of painting friends works at a golf course and she said that they have been as busy and they can be with the limitations/restrictions. One person in the foursome/group comes in to pay and they have sneeze guards and 6' spacing between golfers. Their snack bar is open but you have to order at one window and pay....then go outside to pick up at the outside window....no inside eating! While not perfect...it got Paula and many of her co-workers back working and that's a start! Not to mention how happy the golfers are!!
No worries Carole...I WILL be bringing Jackson's gifts down next weekend!!! It is long past time!!
Jo...how fun to have a "high tea" with DM yesterday!! That place is really awesome, keeping people connected despite the lockdowns!!
Time to make a little breakfast and get a few things done!!! Hope all have a great day!!! Will pop back later!

OK...just checked my email and got this update on DM....WOW, what a vicious cycle of uncertainty!! I so appreciate all that Jim and Annie are doing! Kind of annoys me that DM hasn't said anything about the dizziness and nausea that has plagued her for 4-5 MONTHS!! Once again, in her own passive agressive way she's being the "martyr"!! This is NOT the first time she has pulled a stunt like this, thankfully Jim and Annie are more "on top of things" and will not let her "play her games"!!
Hello All,
The phone is now reliably on Mom’s bed tray and she actually talked to Jim on that phone while I was there, so you might try calling.
The latest news is that Mom is staying in the hospital for a day or two more. They did a CT of the abdomen because of the consistent stomach pain and nausea. They did blood cultures to look for a systemic infection.
Yesterday morning Mom told me (for the first time!) that for the last 4-5 months every time she tries to focus, such as working on a puzzle, she gets dizzy and nauseous. She said that’s why she wasn’t making any progress on the puzzle (BTW, we had asked her why she wasn’t working the puzzle more than once, and she never explained this). She also said that when she reads, when it’s time for her eyes to transition to the beginning of the next line, she gets dizzy and that can result in nausea, also.
The doctor ordered a brain MRI, but it is not yet scheduled.
I called the night nurse this morning and she said that Mom took Dramamine before going to sleep, slept well and did not complain of nausea the rest of the night.

Shelly, that was so nice they had a celebration at work. Very nice to raise that money. I’m glad you are having a get together at your house fore your bday. For you and dfil? Your deck looks really nice. Sounds like a Gabrielle gave you some good advice. I love your 2nd alarm clock! Dogs come in very handy for that.
Christine, DL never ceases to amaze me! The janitor makes more that you? Hope the teachers do as you suggest although will that help you? Won’t the board see what dL is doing? I’m sorry you have to go through this. Glad you have a back up plan. I know you are glad Linsey is home. Lol to the broken part of the desk. Glad it still works. How will you work in there when she is home for the summer. I hope the weather holds off for the block party. Do you have any plans for Sunday?
Gabrielle, glad to hear DH is taking his own advise. Has your running group still been getting together? I know you are looking forward to running with them again. That’s a long day to work. Your Superintendent gave you that project because he/she knew you could get it done. it is hard to buy something for someone who has everything. We had that problem with my Mum. I resorted to buying her CVS gift cards as she shopped there all the time. Enjoy your run. Your weather sounds lovely.
Carole, glad the decision has been made on the roof. Sounds like you went with metal? How will that affect the snow roof thing you have? I know you are anxious to get it started. We have a metal roof on our house. You see more and more of them now. if you have to wear masks at work they should keep you working at home. I think it would be very distracting to have to wear one all day.
Sue, I guess you would know about that. My sisters said they opening those counties May 15. Will you still have to wear your mask then? Sounds like a nice paint night. What are you working on? Hope you Mum feels better and gets out of the rehab soon. When dealing with so many people that want updates it’s important to give as much info as you can. Glad you are stay up to date. So hard to do in this current situation.
