"Over the past few months, I’ve been thrilled by your incredibly positive response to live Virtual Workshops. Hundreds of thousands of WW members have joined (including me!), and they’ve told us it’s been a powerful source of support and community. You love getting the Workshop experience at home—and I do, too. That said, we’re all eager to return to normal Studio life.
Here’s the good news: We’re excited to announce that we will be reopening select locations in a phased rollout, with careful testing and precautions in place to ensure the health of our members and Studio teams. When we do open our doors, things might look and feel a little different, but rest assured: Your Studio will be a space where you can feel safe and comfortable.
As a health and wellness company, your well-being is our top priority, so we will follow both CDC and local government guidelines as we work through this process. Our locations will be implementing social distancing, including limiting the amount of people in the space, a new flow to help keep you and our teams safe, and associate training on new cleaning and safety protocols. We will be back in touch with more information about Studio locations near you before we reopen. In the meantime, please continue to enjoy the flexibility and freedom of live Virtual Workshops to get the coaching you need right now. And know that if you prefer a virtual option going forward, we will have one for you, because WW meets you where you are.
No matter which WW experience you choose, we can’t wait to see you, support you, and cheer you on.
Take care and be well, Mindy Mindy Grossman, President and CEO, WW International, Inc."

I got the email. I’m happy to hear they are going to open studio meetings again. Thinking about my location, social distancing is pretty doable, it’s a large open area. For workshops that have a big turnout, they should think about back-to-back workshops so everyone can attend. We’ll see ...

Not sure I'm ready to go back, but I SURE MISS IT!!
My leader (coach) said we would be online at least until the end of May. After that we shall see. In my meeting room (studio), they will have to limit the number of people that can attend because we are usually packed in there pretty tight.

i hope they require masks of everyone in attendance. This decision will partly be made by local and state requirements.

it should be a decision dictated by common sense too one would hope.
i just hope they keep the communities in which all the opened facilities are in safe.

Do you think WW will close some studios? If so, ours will probably get closed.. We do not drive out of town, too old, so I will have to do on-line or virtual which will be the first since 1964 for me, I joined WW in 1964 and got my Lifetime, 56 years ago! WW was founded in 1963! 😀 WW has been a blessing for me in all the 56 years! 🙂

As we await the details of the opening of studio workshops: on 5/12 WW disclosed a plan to cut its workforce in connection with its overall cost-savings initiative.
They expect about $12 million in general and administrative expenses and operating expenses related to field restructuring (mainly separation costs and other employee termination benefits.
I had also read, a little bit back, that WW was re-negotiating with Oprah regarding her status with the company.
<oh, HOW I wish Mike was here, with his keen awareness and analysis of stuff like this>

so if they are mentioning field restructuring in particular, then that either means reducing staff in existing locations since they can only have so many people in a center at any given time and/or closing down locations. this definitely seems like a move towards more digital than in-person.

from their Q1 2020 earnings communication:
“WW ended the first quarter with 5.0 million subscribers, reflecting a new Q1 quarter-end record and a 9% increase versus the prior year period,” said Nick Hotchkin, the Company’s CFO, Operating Officer, North America and President, Emerging Markets. “Beginning in mid-March, the crisis started to negatively impact our recruitments and resulted in Studio closures. While we have seen some recovery, given the uncertainty around 2020 revenue levels, we are withdrawing our full year 2020 financial guidance. We have strong liquidity and a highly cash generative business model. To further bolster our financial flexibility, we are implementing a $100 million cost-savings initiative. We continue to be excited about our long-term growth opportunities with our digital platform.”

It would be a tremendous savings for WW.
