they are doing cuts to our education budget as well due to covid-19 shortfalls. from what my ex told me (he is an editor for a publication geared towards K-12 education), many districts around the country plan on doing layoffs. so they will likely have to do small classes in staggered groups/schedules with less teachers. and our girls' school is dual language so to find spanish speaking teachers is even tougher. my hunch is our school will end up laying off the phased out traditional (english only) teachers and keep the spanish teachers since they can teach in both languages.

Fin,
Will your girls be in class everyday? They are talking here about two days of class and three days at home computer classes.

we don't know exactly what the schedule will be yet, but sounds like parents may end up with the option of full distance learning (never going to class), hybrid model (like you are describing) and full back to class, with shorter schedules and smaller class size permitted.
i'm assuming we will lean towards the hybrid model and just have them go to class 2-3 times per week for a short amount of time each of those days. their class size was about 20 per kids, but they may cut it down to 10 or so per session. some school districts around the country have to reduce by 20% to 30%, so theirs may not be cut down by half. we'll see as it gets closer to august.

KOKO today as planning, tracking, hydrating and moving continue as I continue to focus on blue while smiling. Quiet here with no storms. The skies are blue.

i just found out that two of our offices will now be mandatory work from home (even after the states lift restrictions) going forward so they can exit those leases. i have an employee in each office and i know that one will be fine with it (she worked from home part of the week prior to the covid-19 shutdowns) but one is not happy. she liked going to the office and having her whole set up there. i hope they let her take her stuff home with her (their monitors and keyboards and such).
interesting times. i have pretty much come to the conclusion that i will be a work from home employee from here on out til forever. even if i get an offer from another employer, i will make them aware prior to the offer making stage that i need a flexible work from home option.
