I'm IN.
💞🐵🙈🐵🙉🐵🙊🐵💞
More weeds have been pulled (WHEN will they get the message. LOL?). Prep for outdoor painting project is underway. Crochet project is rounding the corner into the home stretch. NASCAR was rained out; they'll try again tonight.
Today? More of the same. Plus a look at the budget as the month comes to its last few days.
Coffee's hot... ☕☕☕... here's to US... <mug raised high>...
🌼🌸🌺🌸🌼🌸🌺🌸🌼🌸🌺🌸🌼🌸🌺🌸🌼 Be well! Have a healthy-eating day, all! 🌼🌸🌺🌸🌼🌸🌺🌸🌼🌸🌺🌸🌼🌸🌺🌸🌼

Good morning.
A little light drizzle this morning but we will go out and pop the rest of the annuals in while it is still relatively cool. Pink and white vinca to fill in between the perennials and then it will be time for mulch.
Wishing all a peaceful day.

Happy Thursday! It's rainy and gray this morning, but that's OK! I won't have to water my flowers today! It's supposed to move out by this afternoon so maybe I will be able to get my walk in then. We shall see! Really nothing much new to talk about today. I hope you all have a GREAT day! Positive energy to all!

fullmahina, what do you plant that is (relatively) deer-resistant? Annual or perennial? DD is trying to find plants that are less-than-tasty for her front display.

neen,- Look at that grandbaby!! So cute. He's getting so big! Today is my last day of school. It's just not the same. We are going to have a whole class zoom at 10:00 today. But usually we'd have a party, take little treats around to the gen ed teachers, etc. This is just kind of sad. I will only have two of my kiddos back next year. I go in tomorrow and all of next week with my staff to pack up the room. I will no longer be a sub contractor but will be a district employee So I have to pack up EVERYTHING in the room. get my personal stuff out of there, have the subcontractor's stuff ready to be taken back and make room for new district stuff coming in. I'm glad I get a few days with my staff. None of them will be returning either. They have chosen to stay with the subcontractor. I totally understand, but I've been with the one for 14 years. I can't imagine starting a school year without her. I never have, she was there my first year of teaching. OK, so my attitude is a bit like the weather today. Cloudy, dreary and a little weepy. I'll snap out of it. Thanks for letting me vent.

Good Morning! Glad to hear you're okay, DebDoesWW, after the storms blew through Houston. We had mainly high winds but also had some rain. The sun is out this morning and it's cool too. We'll start drying out and heating up now as May winds down. DotRen, I'm surprised the storms missed you. I'll be meeting with my girl friends, via Zoom, this afternoon. It's nice to catch up with them. Most of us are still staying close to home for the time being. I'm IN and drinking coffee while I plan my day. hpeterson1951, (((Hugs))). I know you'll miss your friends. Are they going to a different school now that you'll be a district employee?

Thanks for the support everyone linda72, yes, the four of the are being split all over the place. Two are going to the HS in my district. They will stay subcontracted for about 4 years, while my kids move up. Then they will have to move again, but it bides them some time. One has been given a placement in an elementary school- actually in my home district. I told her we could get together after school. The other one doesn't know where she's going yet. I did zoom with my new team. They seem very nice. They were in district classes that are shutting down or consolidating and were basically told it's my room or else. One was in the same building for 23 years. So the good thing is we are all in the same place. I acknowledged with them that we are all a little scared and sad at loosing people we've been with for so long. But we can make a new team, not to replace the old just forge ahead. That seemed to help everyone

fullmahina, what do you plant that is (relatively) deer-resistant? Annual or perennial? I have to plant ONLY deer-resistant stuff, or at least I try to! These are the perennials I have and that have done well with deer who come right up to my porch steps---most are easy to find in good nurseries. I grow them for long bloom and their appeal to butterflies and birds, deer resistance, and hardiness (although delphinium is a little prissy with her needs). Here's a list with the specific varieties in my garden: Delphinium Hardy Geraniums---Roxanne, Max Frei Perennial Salvia---Caradonna Liatris---Kobold Daisy---Daisy May, White Mountain (Daisy May is the better one I think) Bee Balm---(smaller variety) Blue Moon, Cherry Pops Phlox---Volcano Pink (taller), Flame White (shorter but blooms all season, not the spreading spring bloomer) Crocosmia---Lucifer Echinacea (coneflower)---Pow Wow Wildberry, Sombrero Lemon Veronica (speedwell)---Perfectly Picasso Montauk Daisy Chrysanthemums Butterfly Bush---Guinevere Russian Sage Dwarf Reblooming Lilac---Bloomerang Scabiosa---Butterfly Blue As for annuals, I generally use them as filler between the perennials and have had success with these: Vinca---Titan (they come in pink, white, lavender, etc, with pretty contrasting "eyes" and spread into nice mounds) Snapdragons---Montego (smaller variety, come in reds, purple, lilac, yellow, white) Marigolds Cleome Nasturtium---Alaska Mix from seeds (mounding, not vining) Alyssum Plants to avoid---hosta, day lilies, pansies, tulips, petunias, plus lots of others!!

Good morning. I'm in.
Still humid here, supposed to get some rain today, believe it's the leftover from the Houston area, thanks guys!😁
Joined my WW VM hometown group yesterday. We did not have our two guides but had another coach that did what they do. Last week our class was maybe five people, this week it was 10. Before class I asked our coach when in person meetings would start, she said they will be starting classes in ten locations to see what needs to be done in opening more classes so guess there is still a slight chance they will reopen our hometown class. I'm still checking my options on what I'll do if they close our class. I won't be thrilled if they do close our class as I've been going to class here for 56 years, not sure if you can teach an old dog new tricks? 😄
We haven't been on a beach cruise for two days so guess it's in the lesson plans for today! 😎😎
Have a gr8 day!
Be safe. 🇺🇸

our county just released its plan for the upcoming school year (districts can still decide how to proceed, but must work within this framework). it's 40 somethimg pages long but i read it top to bottom. it's pretty comprehensive though and had a lot of good information. they would like all students (over a certain age) and staff to wear masks at all times. lunch will be served only with the smaller group of kids within their class, no large lunchroom gatherings. on shortened days they want the lunch to be grab and go rather than eaten at school. one way hallways. plexiglass partitions in the school's front offices, after school care and programs have to be much smaller and with what they call "stable groups" meaning not just a drop off activity as needed, needs to be the same kids in the group each day.
it was interesting to read. not sure logistically how easily they can enforce all of it, but i put down in my district survey a few weeks back that i would feel comfortable sending my girls back in those limited part time and small group settings.

finreporter, Interesting how they plan to approach returning kids to school in your district. It will not be an easy task on teachers part to follow all these guidelines, voice of experience. I taught for thirty 30 years in the middle school, loved my job but we didn't teach under the same circumstances teachers have to teach today. Here In Michigan we have a lot of teachers getting out of teaching, teacher shortage. We also have a bus driver shortage, some teachers are driving buses in addition to teaching. We heard on the news this morning there will be teacher cuts as well. Guess this all comes with the new normal.
