Whether you are regular poster or a lurker, we encourage you to talk with us. We do talk about books, but also about our lives, and Weight Watchers. We are women who are spread around the country, and eventually you will learn you we are, and what books we like to read.Don't be intimidated, just pop in and tell us who you are, and what you are reading now. This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year old board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

Good morning. What a wind/rain storm last night! When it finally blew itself out, we had a gorgeous sunset. Cooler temps for a few days, then back to the 80's.
PINKY....I will send you a PM TODAY, I hope you are able to answer it. Did you and your DH go on a vacation?
Robin, congrats, on going to #2!!!! What progress your state has made, considering your area was the major hot spot in the early days of the pandemic. About that woman commenting about feeling the towels, I have to agree with her! The big bath towels and kitchen towels are 2 towels I am picky about. I hope your paralegal works out.
Marsha, I hope there is nothing wrong with your DD, with that upset stomach. Wasn't that storm last night worse than the first one?? They predicted the first one would be bad. Weird! Now I see we are going to get just about the same thing today, after 3pm!! Unreal about that fencing, nice that it wasn't worse, or poor Mitzi might have been gone!
Carol, so sorry about your covid stats. I bet we go through this up and down all summer. Yes, I have to agree with Robin, I too have not heard of a dentist taking blood pressure. Even my DH who has blood pressure issues, has never had his taken at his dentist. 72 is perfect weather. We had that the other day, and I loved it.
Gareth, wow, do you think you got that 4" of rain too? I have not heard how much we got here, but last evening was definitely worse than Tuesday night, when the tropical depression was actually in the state. Thank you for asking, DH procedure went as expected, the doctor stretched his esophagus, and he seems to be better, so far.
DH meeting yesterday morning about his legs and arms jerking went well. (That is what he is thinking). She thinks he has restless leg syndrome. She prescribed for him 2 meds for it. He needs to get those today.
The meeting with the sibs went very well. DH had a presentation all ready to, he broke down the major points of the money. So they were happy with the amount of money they got from the estate. My sister kept thanking me, and I kept telling her: don't thank me, thank DB, it is his money. So everything pertaining to my little brother is finished. Very sad.
Nothing much going on here, DH has PT today, but nothing planned tomorrow, so I am sure he will want to get his boat out, now that he knows it should run nicely.
Have a nice day everyone.

Homemade pizza for dinner and for some reason it took me almost 3 hours to make dinner! Part of the issue was dd was yapping at me the whole time so I wasn't focusing on what I was doing. When it was time to assemble the pizza I realized I hadn't made the white sauce I wanted so that set me back at least half hour, then I realized I hadn't cut up my veggies for the white sauce pizza. Whew. When it was finally done it was good but next time more garlic in the sauce.
Hopefully dd will leave today. She is planning to go after lunch but now that I see the forecast I sent her a text suggesting she go a bit earlier so she is not driving through that storm. Unfortunately she probably won't get up early enough to leave earlier. She is all packed and ready.
Karen - when I got home from work dd had slept almost all day. She ended up with a migraine and was trying to sleep it off. It was related to her period, she should be ok today. By last night she was feeling better. She hadn't taken anything - we keep the Tylenol in the medicine chest in the master bath and she didn't know that (which begs the question - why does she not know where the Tylenol is? And there is another bottle in the kitchen which I'm pretty sure she knows about), and her Excedrin migraine was at school. I gave her Tylenol and she started to feel better.
I left dh an updated grocery list and he will probably go shopping today. Leftovers tonight so we can start cleaning out some of the accumulated things before I have to start throwing them away. I walked Mitzi this morning. Gorgeous outside, cool enough for a jacket. Perfect walking weather. The water in the river was high.

Beautiful, sunny morning. It was only in the 50's when I got up but is warming up fast. 80's predicted. I went to WM first thing this morning. Found out that's the time to go. Not many people. I'll be going at that time from now on. Now I'm waiting for DH to get home so we can walk.
Karen, glad all went well with the sibs. I take it DB and DS get along ok now. I know DB was really upset with her for awhile when she didn't come back for the funeral.
Marsha, my friends always complained about empty nest. Not me, I was glad to see DS get out on his own.

I don't remember when the dentist starting checking blood pressure. It has been several years. I don't know if they do for everyone or if you have be a certain age and above.
Isn't the Dakota where Rosemary's Baby takes place?
Karen, glad everything went well with your DB and DS.
Marsha, sorry your DD had a headache. When I have one, I usually just want to take my meds, put an ice pack on my head and sleep. I try to always have Excedrin migraine with me. I have prescription meds I take, but I don't like to take them if I'm out somewhere. They make me sleepy and don't want to be driving.
I woke up earlier this usual this morning so I went ahead and got dressed and went on to Walmart. Most everyone had on masks. I noticed 2 younger couples that didn't wear them. Once again, no disinfecting wipes. I don't remember if I told that DH found some at a Farm and Ranch store. He was running errands and was at Lowe's and they didn't have any. The farm and ranch store was close so he just decided to check and sure enough, they had a huge amount of them.
Another pretty day, in the 80s, but the 90s the rest of the week.

My eye Dr and dentist both take BP. I've never thought about it being age related but maybe it is.
I meant to ask when I was here earlier what you think of clerks calling you honey, sweetie etc? I cringe each time but never say anything. Young lady is another one I don't care for either.
Back from our walk. It's windy.

Gareth, funny you should ask about that, with being called honey and sweetie, it is a pet peeve of mine. I know I have a young sounding voice, so it happens on the telephone when I just want to ring the person's neck, or tell them off. Let them know I am sure I am older than their mother. I find it very disrespectful.
Karen, glad everything worked out with your sibs. When we think there will be an issue, we send an accounting to everyone involved, or at least I do it and have it ready.
Marsha, left overs are always good.
Busy day today so have to get downstairs to get documents printed, our printer down there has the will paper I need, and what we use for the will backs. Tonight is another mah jongg night. I have a Blue Apron to make that is easy. It's chicken in a pita.

Gareth - I HATE when clerks call me "honey" or whatever. It is a pet peeve of mine and immediately puts me on edge.
DD is on her way. She saw my text about the weather and moved up her departure. She's probably almost halfway there by now. I'm sure it will be quiet in the house tonight. I need to get things back in order - I have no idea what state her room is in. I know I need to strip her bed but there are probably clothes on the floor to put away and I know there is laundry to do as well. No rush. It's not going anywhere.

Sorry ladies, I’m late again.
Karen, I’m glad all went well with sibs and happy everyone is pleased with the way everything turned out. Maybe I shouldn’t ask, but did DS ever find out about the policy left to DB?
Robin, yes cortisone is a steroid used for arthritis inflammation and that’s what I had. Is that what DH had? How is it working for him? It has helped me so far for what it was intended, however, the hip situation is still there. Good luck at mah jongg!
Marsha, glad (and surprised) to hear Tylenol helps DD with migraines. Tylenol doesn’t even help me with a regular headache.
Gareth, no empty nest feeling for me either. After college both DS’s moved out on their own and I didn’t mind it at all. I felt we set good groundwork for them to go out into the world. And they were glad to!
I don’t like “honey” or “sweetie” either. Very condescending if you ask me. I seldom get it though, I get a lot of “miss” which I don’t like either.
Hi Carol & Pinky!

Carol, they used a different name for the apartment building in Rosemary's Baby, but the Dakota was used for filming of the exterior shots for the movie. What was interesting when I read The Address is that I googled the building, and I saw that when it was built, there was nothing that far north in Manhattan, and for these days, it's not really very far north. It's just west of Central Park, at 72nd St. Anything over 96th Street used to be considered more into Harlem, but these days plenty of people are living above 96th. My older DS lives on 72nd also, but on the other side of the park. It was like farmland up there back then.
Marsha, glad that DD got off OK. It is raining here too, it started mid-afternoon, and luckily DS & DDIL with DGD were on their way by then. They were about half way when the stopped to have lunch and feed DGD, and she was doing well up until that point.
Anngie, I am not sure what kind of steroid DH had, but he needed it for some kind of issue with discs. He hasn't said anything yet, and doesn't seem to be complaining today, so we will see. I will ask him in a few days.
I also never felt empty nest syndrome. To me, it was actually a bit of a relief when my kids went away to college. It was when I was very busy doing mortgages, and it was a relief not to have to worry about whether there was food in the house that they wanted, what they were doing after school, all kinds of things. When they were home for summers or vacation I learned not to be worried. They used to go into the city on a Saturday night and take the last train home, and usually didn't get into the house until close to 4 am. I just got used to it. Of course I had boys, not girls, so there is that double standard. I was busy today at work. I had just started to print up someone's documents who was supposed to come tomorrow. Luckily I did not get too far, because we date them, so I don't have to reprint everything. They are rescheduling for Monday, so I will do them early afternoon tomorrow. I am planning to leave at 3:00 tomorrow, we are going to have dinner in a friend's backyard.
