Good morning friends. Miss LuLa woke us up at least twice last night. Luckily we were all able to catch some Z's.
Going to be another hot day here. I'll do what I can to avoid the heat. Last night Carl got our dehumidifier up and running. That surely helps out a lot.
Need to finish all desktop stuff have coffee and plan my day.
Will pop in later.
Judy it was fun talking about 'old Worcester'

Back again. I sat in the screen room with my coffee and kindle and woke up about a half hour later. Guess my body wanted to sleep. I'm very grateful that there is nothing that we need to shop for...and also no household chores that can't be ignored!!!!

Hi All, Ann, it is fun to think about old days. I left Worcester when I was 7 and moved to Ohio, Missouri and later Texas, Vermont and Arizona. But, here I am working and living less than a couple miles from Elm Park where I spent nearly every afternoon as a tot. My little brother and I were even in the Worcester paper playing in the sandbox with our baby sitter! It's comforting to live near where your roots and DNA are! I had Swedish relatives all over the area and my father's Scottish/Irish family, too. My dad grew up on Richmond Avenue off Flagg Street. My mom way up off Burncoat Street on Lorian Avenue in what was a big Victorian that went over in the tornado of '53. Small world, Ann! Here is a link you might enjoy when you have time to spare. www.worcestermass.com/dynamix/fond.shtmlIt is a humid one already. I finally got Doug and Daisy outside for a walk at 8 PM last night when they both were very cooperative taking care of business and trotting home quickly. I plan to get them out earlier today once I take a break here. I sorry little Lula was awake so much, Ann. Hope you get to rest today. I made a batch of egg "muffins" today with eggs, broccoli, cheddar, peppers, onions and spices and had one for breakfast. I'll pack the rest int he cooler for our breakfasts at the Cape Saturday and Sunday. I like them a lot. I have tried Eggs in a Cup type recipe from the WW site, but I'm not wild about microwaving eggs. THey seem rubbery to me. These are much better, I think! Off to get some work done. Have a great day all. BBL

Ann, glad you rested and here's to "all household chores that can be ignored"! I love that one - so many things that are higher on the list than those chores in my book!
Glad you had a rest! I am off to walk - just showered and I'll probably need another one afterwards!

OMG Judy...Tuesday the 9th was the anniversary of the Worcester tornado! My DM was very pregnant with me. I was to be a 7/4 baby but popped out a week ahead of time Can't say that I'm sad to have missed that one! So much damage in so little time. Carl also has Swedish in him along with Norwegian Dutch English and I forget what else LOL......he is most definitely a 'mixed breed' LOL. So fun going back in time like that. Wow, so you and DB were 'celebrities' playing in the sandbox. Too funny I shall check out that link later. Thanks. Something tells me that I'm going to really enjoy it! Yes it's humid. We walked to pick up the mail and that's all I plan on doing today. Carl went to return a lawn tractor part that he picked up at either Tractor Supply or Hamshaw Lumber...not sure which....I also asked that he stop at Hannaford's to see if they have sirloin strip steaks for tonight's supper. If not, an angus burger will do. I feel like beef I'm sure you will need a shower when you come back from your walk. Don't forget to take water with you. Going to continue to keep my 'blinders on' and ignore all the little chores that need attention. Later..........

Good morning all! It makes me sad, too, to see churches close. After Hurricane Katrina, many in New Orleans were closed and one is now a bar. But it takes members who are active participants and willing to contribute enough to keep the bills paid for any church to survive. I remember how unhappy a dear friend was to see the church that his father and grandfather helped to build in NOLA closed. All of his immediate family members had been baptized and married there. I know the little Episcopal church where I grew up is hanging by a thread, and has been for some time. I think my family from my dad's side are about the only members left there. There was a little Baptist church up the street from where I live. It closed in the 1970's and was converted into a private home. I stayed up reading last night and regretted it this morning when my alarm went off at 6:20. I got up and dressed and went to early Mass, then came back and had a piece of peasant bread toast, a boiled egg and a banana. I am leaning toward a sandwich and sliced tomatoes for lunch. Dinner will be a pasta dish with zucchini and shrimp that DH will probably make up as he goes along. He humors me and goes light on the olive oil and cheese, for the most part. I am up nearly a pound at WI, no surprise since my tracking and eating plan have been spotty at best. I have been diligent about walking, but can't out-walk my mouth, unfortunately. Oh well, today is the beginning of a new week and another opportunity to do better. Our weather is beautiful again today with lower temps (81 right now) and humidity of only 48% with a nice breeze. It was lovely sitting in the green room last evening and I plan to do that again. I have doors and windows open this morning, enjoying the breeze and airing out the house, but will need to close it up soon and put the AC back on. DH spent the morning picking sweet corn. When he went to check it this morning, he found that the raccoons have been busy and ate about 1/3 of the crop, totally ignoring the live trap he set with wet cat food. He decided it was better to go ahead and pick it all. Tomorrow, we'll probably put some in the freezer and the rest we will keep in the extra fridge and enjoy over the next few days. Between Cristobal & raccoons, it's a disappointing yield. But that's nature! Ann - I am an ace at ignoring household cleaning tasks! Unfortunately, it's bathroom cleaning time and that one can't be ignored. Judy - Enjoy your time at the Cape. I wish I was going to the camp, but we decided to let DD2 and her BFF have a girl's only weekend. I am interested to hear what Cristobal left washed up on the lawn. We may have to make a trip down this week to rake up sea grass, so the lawn guy can mow. The link with Worcester memories is nice. We have a similar one on fb for our village. People post old pictures which bring back many memories for me. Sue - Waving and will check back later to see what you're up to. I am speed-reading to try and finish The Weight of Ink before it gets repossessed tomorrow.

Pam good luck with the speed reading. Been there and done that I keep up with kitchen and bathroom cleaning but often neglect the 'other stuff'. I really need to vacuum...but that will just go on my LONG to do list In the case of our church, it was said that it was the expressway that added pressure to the building and it cracked in several places. It dragged on for a long time before the Bishop declared it unsafe and after many 'meetings' it was torn down. It was an absolutely beautiful cathedral. LOL to not being able to 'outwalk the mouth' That put a smile on my face for sure. I can SO relate. Today is just one of THOSE days where if it's not nailed down it's gone in my mouth. I started out good....but food got in the way. Sad part is I won't go out and walk and it's just too hot and I have no energy to house walk. I shall start now to follow the program and not the Ann Plan So happy to hear that you were able to salvage some of the corn crop. Enjoy. Nothing like fresh corn. I look for the little farm stands around here but haven't seen any so far. I don't have a problem paying extra for fresh picked. Judy I did check out the link. I've seen that before, but it was a long time ago. I really enjoyed reading it again. Thank you.

Good Afternoon, WW Friends ~
TGIF!! I was up bright and early this morning, but had some things to do around here. Right before going to bed I got a text from my VBF asking if I'd be interesting in doing lunch today? We have both been hemming and hawing as to when we'd "take the plunge" and she jumped first. We have a favorite place that we frequent Spring/Summer/Fall that has a huge patio where we have spent many happy hours. So she sugtested we do that and we did and it worked out wonderful!! They have completely rearranged the tables & chairs so that they are far enough apart (without looking barren). They kept everything as "normal" as possible. The servers wore masks (as did we when talking to them and ordering). After hearing all the news reports about how "things are going to look very, very different" - it was refreshing to find that not everyone bought into that. The necessary precautions are being taken, but there is enough familiarity to make us feel welcome. I couldn't have been happier!! After I showered this morning and did my hair (such as it is needing a cut badly), I even put on some make-up. The last time I did that was exactly three months ago to go to lunch with my VBF. I told my DH it's like book-ends so now we can close that chapter.
After finishing lunch I got a hankering to go to Kohl's and there is one in that direction, so I headed out. They were also doing everything to make things feel as normal as possible. All the employees were wearing masks and some of us customers (I guess some just aren't going to). They are counting people as they come in to keep the building to a max number at a time, but it didn't even slow me down. The fitting rooms are closed for the time being, but the restrooms are accessible. I had a gift card from DH on my birthday (last Jan) and it was burning a hole in my pocket. I found a couple of short-sleeved t-shirts on sale that I liked, and brought them home with me. That all gave me a sense of well-being that I haven't known for a while.
I received another encouraging email from our school principal, bless her heart! She will be on several task forces this Summer, especially keying on how the changes will work for our preschool building. I am glad to have her leading us and keeping us informed.
Since it is still only in the upper 60's and sunny and low humidity, I think I will take myself for a walk. I did all my back stretches this morning which helped a great deal.I'm still not 100% but getting there.
Breakfast this morning was yogurt with berries & Fiber One. Lunch was a chicken skewer, hummus, pita bread and chopped mini-Greek salad. Supper will either be Green Apple Salad (if DH brings them home) or tuna and rice. Quick and easy!!
I found out today that our Ruby Tuesday closed abruptly! They had been sending me daily emails about BOGO specials, as recently as last Wednesday (the day before yesterday). Now they are closed and the sign on the door says "Permanently Closed". I am especially sad because we have a $50 gift card for there. Oh well ....
Ann ~ Sorry LuLa woke you up, but glad you were able to go back to sleep. Glad you were able to relax and take it easy today. Those "chores" can always be done another day (mine are going to be right now).
Judy ~ How do you make your "Egg muffins"?? I am curious! They sound good. I do microwave patties of Egg-Beaters to put on our "Egg McMuffin" sandwiches for breakfast but they don't get rubbery for some reason. Have a great time at the Cape!!
Pam ~ I also had to LOL about "can't out-walk my mouth". I have felt that way! Bummer about the raccoons eating your corn! Don't they know any better?? Especially when your DH fed them. Ungrateful ....
I will go head out for a walk before my time gets away from me completely!!
BBL. Make a great day!!

Hi again - Another expression I love and plan to take as my own-lol-from Pam "I can't out-walk my mouth!" I just may get a tee shirt that says that! It cracks me up.
Yes, so sad about all the churches. Ann's church was truly as a grand cathedral as you'd see anywhere in Rome and it had so many loyal parishioners who staged sit in after sit in but to avail. Really sad. Ann, how about Notre Dame Cathedral, too? Another massive beautiful cathedral that went the way of the bulldozers for downtown development. Too sad. One thing I really loved about going to Montreal was seeing the Cathedrals - especially the one Celene Dion was married in and where she had her husband's funeral. It was magnificent.
I'm glad you enjoyed reading all the memories of Worcester. I showed it to my oldest brother who lived in Worcester his whole growing up from Lee Street School to Forest Grove to North High! I went to Lee Street through 2nd grade. Now it is a city building!
We are headed to the Cape soon, and I hope the A/C is working there just in case. We don't have big plans but a getaway will be nice. Just changing up these four walls helps. Pam, I hope your DD2 and her friend have fun and I hope there is no damage to your property.
Ann, enjoy those steaks. They sound great.
I'll be back!

Judy yes, Notre Dame was also a beautiful cathedral. I used to attend masses there when I worked on the Holy days of Obligation. So sad. Enjoy the Cape. Yes I'm sure seeing a different 4 walls lifts your spirits Praying that the AC is working well. You never know what this NE weather will be LOL. Safe travels. Sue I can surely HEAR the excitement in your voice describing eating out with your friend and shopping at Kohl's. No biggie that the fitting rooms are closed, so long as they accept exchanges which I'm sure they do. That's a shame about your Ruby Tuesday's closing. I have no idea which chain restaurants are closing here. Actually in my small town, we don't have many chains...we have to travel to get to one. Be interesting to know which ones are closing. I get emails all the time from 99 Restaurants and Olive Garden so I'm sure they are still both up and running. It's a shame you are out the %50.00 gift card. Lots of times a chain restaurant has other restaurants that fall under their umbrella...it may be worth it to look into it. This had totally been a goof off day for me. It's already after 5:00 and in a bit we'll sit down to enjoy supper. After that, I SHOULD walk...if the 'spirit moves me'...... Sweet dreams and talk again in the a.m.
