Regarding the effectiveness of masks:

.AZ was doing ok at point of coming out of stay at home..then people acted like nothing had happened. Front page news is hospitals at capacity going into surge mode , probably opening a large closed hospital in Phoenix, but the scariest thing is that in last three days with under testing for months and ten day lag on data , we have gone to infection rate Of 60/100,000. NYC at worst had 25/100,000.
hundreds of doctors have petitioned governor to do something like mandate masks and allow cities to set their own requirements. Right now they cannot do anything to help their win people, and he will not.

Karen, nice plants! I saw a version of that chart that also showed neither person wearing a mask and of course, that number was higher. My county updated their hotspot map through June 14 and it showed there were 45 new cases in my zip code for the week. We had been holding at less than 15 cases for weeks. The hotspot was right on top of a large student apartment complex on the western edge of the zip code. An article in the paper said it can be traced to when the bars reopened. On the day they reopened, one of the popular bars near campus had a huge line of people waiting to get in with no social distancing and most weren't wearing masks. They let 350 people in and the rest of the people left. A couple of days later someone called them and said they were there at the opening and had tested positive.
Chele, enjoy your day out.
Linda, those numbers are scary for AZ. Our new cases have really hit the younger population, but I'm worried about how much they've spread it to others. I guess we'll see in the next couple of weeks.

It is mainly young people driving this is huge numbers partying and bar hopping. Interesting that in the young 80% are without symptoms and think they are fine while spreading it everywhere. They think they will be fine and send 1/5 friends to hospital. They are not about to limit their fun for others.
Two huge fires in state and others...wind and no rain in sight. People are still protesting. Virus is out of control.
no plans except cooking dinner...no reason to get out of bed.
Should fertilize the lawn with Miracle Gro sorry but it is sunny now

Kathy, enjoy your nice weather today. Looks like there's nothing out in the Atlantic, so at least it's not tropical when the rains come in. I saw about the data analyst who got canned for giving actual numbers. And we trashed China for a supposed coverup. How is this any different? So clever of them to ignore the actual data and reopen anyway. But I think they have done that most places. 350 people in a bar still seems like a lot, even if it's a massive building. If only one person tested positive, that's a miracle. I wonder what the deal is with frozen foods at Publix. The Capri veggies are in short supply here as well for some reason. Congrats on the TP. Definite score. The plants are my container garden. I was out taking coneflower photos for the newsletter and figured I would grab some of the veggies, too. You can see the lake top left of the photo. I'll have to also crop one of the coneflower photos and put it in an avatar. It's the Cheyenne Spirit variety, which is my favorite.
Was today your eval, Becky? Are you released or are they going to file for more sessions? I would ask for ITB stretches so maybe you can get it loosened up.
Linda, YIKES on the covid numbers!!! You're more than double the 100K levels from NYC and that's not good. Staying in bed is a good plan under those circumstances. I hope your guv listens to the docs, but that's not the norm so I won't hold my breath. I saw your fires on the news. One thing you don't need with everything else that's going on. The wifi is working great. In fact, it's the best one we've had.
Hope you had a good trip to Kokomo, Chele. Did you have good weather? Did you stop anywhere going to or from?
The lake was probably about 76 this morning. Just a tad nippy but felt good after I got a little used to it. I did have to negotiate with a fishing boat and that wasn't fun. I made a mask out of the performance fabric and will try it out at Osteo tomorrow. The exercises there require deep breathing and that hasn't been easy through the masks I've used so far. Dinner was good. I had a marinated ahi tuna steak that I fixed on the Foreman using parchment so clean up would be easy. I cooked it for 5 minutes and it was a bit dry, so I'll try 3 or 4 next time. I also picked some fresh chard this morning and sauted it in a little coconut oil with basil flowers and garlic. Between the fish and protein shakes, I am finally getting the amount of protein I should have been having. Some vegan diets claim you only need 10% of calories from protein and that's ok if you're eating about 3000 calories a day. I'm eating about less than half of that and have been for years. So 10% of my calories is only about 40gr, where I need at least 70. This could be a factor in my osteoporosis, plus my low Vitamin D levels. I hope I'm starting to turn things around. I can't eat pork, beef, poultry, etc. without massive GI issues for several days. So it's good that I can get what I need this way.
Waving to Liz and Denise.

.This afternoon after getting blistered all over the news, governor passed the buck and said local areas could make their own rules..our mayor posted tomorrow morning he will set up required public masks in Tempe...not sure about enforcement...details tomorrow.
48 fires in AZ right now , two huge: route 87 NE of the valley closed with evacuations , the other N of Tucson.
We are a pivotal state now. local TV is hip deep in Senate and Presidential election ads now...mostly nasty...yuck. So glad to have streaming tv ,but I need to watch local news at least once a day between fires and virus! So I found out Cell phones stores are now selling masks and face shields. I have a couple that tie on hats.
Did laundry, fertilizer lawn and watered new plants, Cut a lot of virus articles for archives...lot of categories it touches.
dH got sandwiches curbside at cafe and we have the Italian peach cake for later.

Thanks for the start Karen.
Chele I hope you had fun.
Linda Bexar County(San Antonio) and Austin have found a way to do the face masks and still stay inside governor's executive order. The government still can't infringe on individual rights to wear or not wear masks but they can now tell businesses to require face masks before entry.
Karen Yes today was my eval.I didn't know I was going to get a regular PT session along with it but the eval person took the measurements on my knee beforehand and had me fill out a page for the insurance I guess on movement. She told my PT about things I needed to work on still and I had an abbreviated session. She worked on my hamstrings since they are still tight and gave me some exercises to do at home in between sessions.I have one more session scheduled for Monday and hopefully they will hear from the insurance by Friday.
