Good morning friends. Another good sleeping night for which I'm most grateful. I may or may not check Walmart today for Rotel tomatoes. Other than that, no real agenda for today.
Need to quickly finish up my online duties so that we can have coffee. Carl is out now walking miss LuLa.

Good morning all,
It is another gorgeous day and I had my coffee, yogurt, berries and fiber one on the deck this morning listening to the birdies and watching the water bubbling through the Brook in our backyard. I love the gurgling sound. Even though we are in a busy suburban area, having a private backyard with water brings a lot of wildlife and a multitude of beautiful birds. Yesterday a deer strolled right into the yard and we are not at all in a country setting. Itās sad because I worry that this young fawn will be hit by a car. I clapped my hands so that it would run back into the woods which I did.
I agree with all of you on the shrinking sizes of nearly every product including things that are non-edible like cleaning products and even facial items like moisturizers! My DH is always pointing this out to me and I think it all started when the half-gallon of ice cream suddenly became a much smaller version. That may not be a bad thing! Speaking of cheesecake, my DH has a birthday tomorrow at cheesecake is his absolute favorite. I picked him up a nice New York style cheesecake yesterday and I will serve it with fresh blueberries or strawberries on top. That was his only request for his birthday. We are not so much into giving gifts for birthdays etc. for each other. And, he is especially hard to buy for! He likes to pick out everything he has on his own and thatās fine with me. But we always celebrate with a nice meal and cake and cards. I think weāll do curbside for his favorite restaurant tomorrow- Italian of course!
Pam, boy can I relate to you worrying about your DHās health and weight struggles. I am no one to talk since I have a lot to lose, but I donāt like seeing my DH continue unhealthy eating habits. I guess Iāve just learned to back off and detach a little from it because people tend to do what they want to do until theyāre ready, and thereās not much I can do. Pushing does no good at all. He says he really wants to work on this, but he has a big sweet tooth and will come home with things that are not helpful to him. I have an easier time avoiding sweets than I do chips and salty snacks. He really misses his swimming which he ordinarily has done every single day of his life except weekends since he was about 18. He swims a mile at the Y every morning but with Covid, of course, everything still closed. He must call twice a week to check on re-opening. He has one problem area of weight and thatās the belly as you see in a lot of men. And he doesnāt drink beer or much alcohol at all- a rare glass of red wine so itās all food and large portions. From behind, he looks very fit and trim. I really worry because of his heart issues but my worrying doesnāt do much good. Iām trying to bring to mind Sueās great quote about worry and itās escaped me again!
Today I am going to take a nice long walk before the heat kicks in again and do a few loads of laundry. I cleaned out our linen closet yesterday and have a big bag of sheets to drop off. That felt good and it looks more organized. Both of us tend to run hot, so we donāt need our flannel sheets even in the winter time if we have a good quilt. Sue, youāve inspired me to look through all my Rubbermaid, Tupperware containers and redo that area as well. It always feels great to have things organized and somehow you just feel more peaceful.
well, Iāve prattled on long enough. Off for my second cup of coffee and work. Speaking of work, our boss told us yesterday at another zoom meeting that it does not look like we will be going back to work anytime soon at all. In fact, when we do go back only 25% of the staff will be allowed in the building at any one time for the first semester. Itās fine with me if I can continue to work at home until December or at least most of the time. I am pretty nervous about returning to an environment filled with college kids.

Judy LOVED the picture you painted of your little piece of paradise in your yard. Put a on my face. Listening to and watching Mother Nature is the best relaxation of all. So very happy that you don't have to return to work 'anytime soon'. I would be very nervous in your situation! Enjoy doing your laundry. I just threw in load #1. How are you doing with your step challenge? I'm sure you are getting in all that you need and then some. Will CBL

Ann, my steps are pretty good. I donāt get my 10000 every day but most of the time and have been at 7500+ every day. Progress! Scale is still not moving, though.
I just edited all my typos in my long message! Using the microphone is quicker on the iPad, but fraught with misspelled or out of context words! I really like a regular keyboard and the old typewriter feeling!

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
Happy Hump Day!! We have beautiful sunshine and mild temps right now, but we have a heat wave headed our way with predicted temps in the 90's the next handful of days, and t'storms on the weekend along with the heat!! Looks like it will be time to turn on the A/C and just leave it on.
Ann ~ Yay for another good sleeping night! I also slept very well, going to bed at 10 and sleeping until 6:30 when DH got up. He, unfortunately, has not been sleeping well at all and I feel so bad for him. Good luck finding your Rotel tomatoes. In this day and age, I have learned to buy things when I see them, not when I go looking for them. That is why I bought 3cans of Rotel yesterday. I also keep Uncle Benās Ready Rice on hand as it is a handy filler, and the base for my Fried Rice.
Judy ~ I also appreciated your description of your little ānature preserveā. We have pretty much the same thing, sans the Brook. Our front porch and door face away from our main road, and into a wooded area. We have seen all kinds of wildlife, including deer, over the years weāve lived here. That adds to our pleasure in sitting out at our table on our covered porch. It is quiet and peaceful and ever so entertaining!! I can fully understand you not being anxious to return to work.Though I use my laptop as a desk top, I also have a traditional keyboard attached to it and on the pull-out drawer. I also prefer that feel. Do remember that āthe scale has not moved YETā. You are doing what you need to do, and it will respond ā only it will respond in its time. The worst thing we can do is give up (even if temporarily) and regain our hard-earned loss. If you can, just hang in there and know that it is coming! I canāt tell you how many times I have been faced with exactly that situation ā and it always DID work out. Happy Birthday to your DH!!
Pam ~ I thought about you this morning when I was reading the news and saw a headline "Fewer than 200 new coronavirus cases in Michigan for 9 out of the last 10 days". I recalled that you were trying to make a decision about visiting your DD and thought this might help. I wish I knew how to send you the link, but I don't have any idea. It is on ABC12.com if that helps.
I have had my yogurt 'n berries with Fiber One this morning and may eat a hard-cooked egg in a while. I ended up drinking a Premier Protein drink yesterday for lunch with some red grapes. Last night I added some Pasta Roni noodles to our supper and they were delicious!! The chicken breast tenders cooked in the Instant Pot came out great also! For tonight I am thawing out some leftover turkey breast to serve with leftover butternut squash & apples and green peas. My DH absolutely LOVES peas, which is rally surprising since he never ate them growing up; also lima beans.
I am still in need/want of a new wind chime for my front porch. I looked at Meijer yesterday and they had a bunch, but none that caught my eye. The only ones that would have been "okay" were, of course, the most expensive ones and I didn't like them that much!
BBL. Make a great day!!

Sue I do have some Rotel...but I don't feel comfortable with the amount I have. I use 2 cans when I make my veggie bean soup so in my house it doesn't last long LOL. We do have a smaller BJ's that we could go to...just not in the mood to travel there today.
Sorry DH isn't sleeping well. Last night Carl woke up a few times feeling cold. Finally he got up and shut off the ceiling fan and went back to sleep. I never woke up once which is a blessing.
Hope you find a good replacement for your wind chimes. I picked up a few a year ago or so at Tractor Supply on sale.
Chicken does come out great in the Instant Pot. I still have some left over and going to turn it into chicken salad for tonight. I'll have it on my Lavash bread and Carl is not a fan so he'll have his on Italian. I have some pasta salad left over and also a little coleslaw so that will be supper.
I had a weight watcher protein smoothie for breakfast that I added a half banana to and a few frozen strawberries. The rest of the banana and berries I added to my FF Greek yogurt. It was tasty and filling.
Lunch will be a bowl of veggie bean soup and a pita bread with hummus.
It's going to get hot here as well. Surely not looking forward to it....and I feel badly for LuLa that dislikes heat just as much as her mom LOL.
The dryer is calling me. Time to get a move on.
Waving to Pam and will CBL

Good morning! I slept well and got up and walked 2.5 miles while it was still relatively cool. We are packing up for our overnight at the camp. I have all the beach towels and sheets from when the DGKs were down there, so it is quite a load of stuff. We are also bringing rakes and a pitchfork to handle the sea rack, as neither of us can remember what tools we have at the camp. My hope is we will get it all raked and burned late this afternoon and then will be able to relax with our steaks and a glass or two of wine. Tomorrow, DH wants to stop by a low-cost grocery in Bay St.Louis to pick up cucumbers to make pickles. We will probably head home before lunchtime. Breakfast was strawberries, yogurt & seeds. Lunch will be leftover bbq chicken breast, coleslaw and tomato slices. Dinner will be steak, baked potato, corn and more tomatoes. DH picked a big bucket of tomatoes today and will pick more on Friday. The plan is to put up tomatoes and chili peppers ala Rotel and plain canned tomatoes on Friday. Sue - Thanks for the update on CV. I have been using this website, similar to the one we have in LA: www.michigan.gov/documents/coronavirus/Cases_and_Deaths_by_County_2020-06-16_693911_7.xlsx. Judy - I loved your description of your yard. It sounds so peaceful! You are wise to know you can't control your DH's eating. But we can't stop loving them and wishing the best for them, can we? Ann - Your meals sound both sensible and delicious. I'm glad to hear Ms. LuLa is up and about. We will head out around 1:00 pm. after my Alzheimer's Lunch & Learn via Zoom. See y'all tomorrow afternoon!

Judy I love the old typewriter feeling myself. When I use my phone I feel like I'm 'all thumbs' and then I have to rely on my mind to remember when I want to answer someone..... You know, at first they always said to aim for 10,000 steps a day. Then it dropped to 7500 and now I just read somewhere that so long as you get 4300 it's good for your heart. Personally, for me I would need to cut way back on my points to maintain on 7500 a day and even 10000 a day is dicey depending on what I eat. Let's face it, there a 'points' and there are 'points' LOL. I still follow the GHG's as a guide so that way I remember that there truly ARE other food groups other than CARBS......That's my weakness, and lately savory and salty trump out the sweets! Not a good thing with humidity! But you get the picture. I think having a pedometer make you more aware of your steps, and that's always a good thing. It is for me, anyway. Pam your get away at the camp sounds like a lot of work, but the "well worth it in the end" variety which makes it nice. I LOVE that you planned on a nice easy relaxing time after the work is done. I bet you will so enjoy your steaks and vino at the end of a productive day. Oh how I wish I could pop on over to watch and pitch in with the cucumbers made into pickles and also the tomatoes and hot peppers ala Rotel I bet both are delicious! Awesome job on your walk!
Thank you, we are both pleased that miss LuLa is back to her ol' self. I did take a short walk and won't head out again until the sun sets. Way too hot for me out there. To say I'm not a fan of H&H is an understatement! All I can say is thank God for AC. Later!

Hi All ~
I am back from my shopping trip. I went to Big Lots and found a wind chime to replace the one I just threw away. It is fine, and for the price I simply cannot complain!! It was about 1/3 the price of the one that was "just okay" yesterday at Meijer. Then I went to Ollie's and stocked up on some miniature candies for a stackable candy jar that got resurrected when I cleaned the kitchen counters. Now it is full of "little things" for when I just need a bite of something sweet. By the time I got home the wind chime had tangled itself into a mess, and I feared I was going to have to go back there, but with a little bit of patience (actually a whole lot) I was able to untangle it after all. Now THAT was a big accomplishment (the patience, that is). <LOL>
This morning I also cleaned out one more kitchen cupboard (all three shelves) and packed up some things to go in the "to be donated" pile. Funny how I keep adding new stuff to a cupboard without removing any, and eventually it is stuffed and I cannot find anything - let alone use it or enjoy it. So I'm making great progress. I think I am now down to the one over top of the refrigerator (which doesn't have much in it) then everything will be freshly redone.
Pam ~ Have a safe trip and a good time at the Camp! You have some great plans. I would "work" for a steak dinner also <LOL>
Ann ~ So happy that LuLa is still feeling like her ol' self! I know it is a huge worry off your mind. I have to agree "thank goodness for A/C". I came home from shopping and it is still 75 in here, but heating up outside, so I closed the windows and turned on the A/C. It is set at 77, so it will be a while before it kicks in. But then I will also be saying "thank goodness".
Back to the GHG's, I still follow them, simply by habit as much as anything. Whether or not it helps my weight, it certainly helps my feeling of well-being. Let's face it, our bodies just NEED the proper food!!
Last weekend when we went to Red Lobster my DH said he had a hankering for pasta, so he ordered a Shrimp Fettuccini Alfredo. He moaned and groaned all evening and was so sorry he ate it. I had had a serving of it with my Shrimp Trio and felt fine, so I knew it wasn't "bad". Last night with our chicken tenders and broccoli salad, I cooked some Pasta Roni Noodles & Herbs - and he loved it - and he felt fine! Seems like after we get accustomed to eating healthy (or "clean" as his friend used to say) we can't go back without paying the consequence. Knowing the points of foods is such a help for me as sometimes two dishes or items that look or sound the same are tremendously different!! I had a ham roll-up for lunch today that was only 3 SP because of the tortilla I used and the kind of ham that I used.
Anyway ..... it is still early and supper is pretty well "made" so I am going to go read for a while.

Sue, so happy to hear that you found another wind chime at Big Lots that was a better price. Unfortunately our Big Lots here changed so much so that we don't even bother to go there anymore. Prices jumped and quality is just not there. Sad, as we used to LOVE poking around in there. Happy yours has remained the same.
LOL to having the patience!!!! That's one trait that I didn't inherit from my mom...I'm more like my dad in that respect. My mother had the patience of a saint!
We have a few things packed away to donate now that Salvation Army is now up and running. I also have a bag full of 'stuff' that I will personally put in the trunk, as they have some of Carl's stuff in there that I KNOW he won't miss...unless he happens to SEE them lol.
I could never quite wrap my head around cabinets over the fridge. I get that people want cabinets to be symmetrical so perhaps that's why. I have no clue what it in ours as I can't reach it even standing on a short stool! Lord only knows what Carl has hidden....family jewels LOL.....
I went through my stash of canned goods and put out a case of fire roasted tomatoes that I get at BJ's. Love those more than the diced tomatoes. To me they have more flavor.
I can so relate to DH and the Alfredo out! Last time I had chicken Alfredo out I had horrible stomach cramps the next day. Like your DH, it didn't bother Carl at all, so it was strictly a 'me thing'. It was just too rich for me to handle. That's one dish that I love but will never order out again. Just isn't worth it.
I so agree, as we ahem 'age' our bodies do need more nutritious foods.
Carl is in the process of baking banana nut muffins. I said 'go for it' as that type of muffin or banana nut bread is not a favorite of mine. Only way I really enjoy a banana is either in a smoothie or just plain or in FF Greek yogurt. Not in a baked good. He will freeze them and enjoy them one at a time. He did call one of our neighbors and she said that she will GLADLY take a few off his hands LOL....so there's that!
My supper is also pretty well made, and I'm going to follow your good example, Sue, and go and read.
Will pop in later.

Hey again all,
Just popping in to say goodnight. The day grew hotter and the dogs and I took a short walk at noon. I forgot to put my tracker watch on today! Iāll guesstimate for the walking challenge.
lunch was a Southwest salad with grilled grilled chicken breast tenders. I cooked up a batch earlier. Dinner was Hello Fresh Tuscany spicy spaghetti. I had a half portion which was ample. I had my little DF sf jello vanilla pudding for dessert with cool whip! It doesnāt take much to keep me happy!
i enjoyed reading your posts. Night all!
