Good morning friends. Another good sleeping night, where I woke up once and drifted right on back. Gotta love when that happens.
Today MAY be the day that we run errands. LuLa is getting a bit low on some of her little treats and we also need gas for the grille. Just local in town stuff, so no big deal...or it shouldn't be. Thank goodness they are still abiding by the masks being worn when you enter anyplace. Our little shops are also opened for business, but I don't have the need to get anything, so I'll stay away.
Still working on my Nora Roberts book Obsession and enjoying it.
Judy I did put a hold on the Shelter In Place novel.
Wishing all a wonderful OP day and will CBL

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
Happy Thursday! I also slept well and enjoyed every minute of it, even though I woke early. I waited for the coffee pot to start before getting out of bed though.
Yesterday turned out nothing like I expected! Shortly after I posted on here and took my Kindle into the living room,I got a text from DH's VBF's DS#2. He wondered how we were. He was at the restaurant which is quite near our house. He offered to bring either a carrot cake or a pie over to us. Seems there is still quite a bit of frozen food at the restaurant, and he wanted to share. I ended up inviting him over, and he offered to wear a mask (which would have been my first choice as well). By the time he got here, he had picked up DD (his younger sister) and brought her with him. They stayed for several hours and we had a great visit! We were all masked and 'social distancing' but still able to visit to our heart's content. DH was most surprised when he got home and found his VBF's truck in our driveway (the kids were driving it). He was just beside himself with joy at seeing them. He went right back out to his truck and got his mask and put it on and joined the party. He got to spend a couple of hours with them. We also made a date to go to one of our favorite restaurants (where we all have gift cards) next Thursday evening. We plan to celebrate DH's birthday (gone by) and DS#2 who has a birthday on Monday. We were all in considerable better spirits after the visit and the plans to get together again in the future. I cannot tell you how much all of that lifted my spirits!! I don't think we have ever gone this long without seeing each other.
After supper last night, DH and I both enjoyed a slice of carrot cake (that was fabulous!) and I sliced the rest up and put it in 2-slice containers and put one in the fridge (for later in the week) and two in the freezer (for much later). It will be a welcome treat as we really enjoyed it!!
We had a fruit bowl this morning with an Egg McMuffin sandwich. We are goingto have avery HOT day so I packed DH a lunch box with extra cold drinks of extra water and a Peach Mango Crystal Light with ice. I don't have any plans for today until this afternoon ..... when I am going to get my hair cut!! I am so excited!!
BBL. Make a great day!!

Sue how wonderful that just when you thought you were going to read...you got that amazing phone call So happy that y'all got to visit and social distance and enjoy a nice meal. MMM to the cake. I bet that tasted mighty good. So much for reading..that can be done at ANY time. Nice that you made plans to go out to eat where y'all have gift cards Win win in my book. We went for a very short LuLa walk earlier. It was foggy and cloudy but humid. Now the sun is out and it looks sticky....no breeze that I can see. Oh well......may be just one of THOSE days where I hunker down at home. We shall see. Enjoy that haircut!!!!! I am happy dancing with you over it and earning myself some activity points Waving once again and will CBL!

Forgot to say....I maintained from last week. I always plan a 'splurge' on Thursday and tonight is no exception LOL. It's PIZZA NIGHT...we will pick up a pizza from Hannaford's...all cheese as we add our own toppings. I'm not a meat pizza lover...I will cook up some mushrooms and onions and add my red roasted pepper strips that I get at BJ's packed in water....it is SO good. Just as good as any pizza that you get at a pizza joint. It's huge, so what we don't eat, we freeze for another meal.

Hi All,
Sue, that story just warmed my heart today! It must have been so soul soothing to you and your DH and to his VBF's children. I know you will play a very important and meaningful role in their lives going forward and they in yours, too. I imagine it must have been a bit of a shock when DH drove up to see his VBF's truck in your driveway. It is sort of like catching a whiff of your mom's perfume after she has passed. That still jolts me. How wonderful that they brought you a yummy pie and that you made plans to reconnect. They are YOUR kids, too, in many ways! Just a great story.
It is very warm and muggy today as Ann said! Ann, I dashed out to Stop & Shop as it is my DH's birthday and our anniversary - 42 years! I needed a few things to make the day special for our dinner and I picked up a big mylar balloon for his chair. LOL Even though we are not big "gifters", everyone wants to feel special on their birthday. :-) I have the cheesecake in the fridge and fresh strawberries to top it with and I also decided to make a very low sugar blueberry cobbler - I may have given all of you the recipe from the NYTs. I have the blueberries and we can save it for the weekend or he can splurge and have a bit of each tonight. It's a big birthday for him and I feel badly that the kids are far away and unable to be here. It is the first year since my CA grandchildren were born that we have not been able to celebrate their birthdays with them. We will at some point but wish it was on the actual day.
At the store, I have to tell you I've now seen it ALL as far as smaller packages. They had toilet paper by Scott in the smallest rolls I have ever seen!! about 1/4 the size of a regular roll!! Talk about downsizing!!!! Have any of you seen these? THey look like they'd be good for a baby's potty seat. :-)
Off to do some work, some tidying up and bake the cobbler.
Ann, I am glad you are enjoying the book. She is such a good escape! I just got a note that the Belva Plain book that Pam read is ready at my Overdrive account at Boston Public!

Sweet Salt Air by Barbara Delinsky is the name of the book Pam mentioned. I have it on my Kindle now. Thanks, Pam.
Oh - my weight was down a smidge today - about a half lb. I'll take it!

Hi Judy ~ Happy Anniversary!! It isn't quite the same for your DH having a solitary birthday. Mine just did the same a couple of weeks ago - but we made the best of it. We'll make the best of Father's Day too. We're starting to accept the "new normal". We are fortunate to have each other - some people don't have anyone. Congrats on the WL ..... those "smidgeons" do add up!!
I absolutely HAVE seen those tiny rolls of toilet paper. It was right at the beginning of the lockdown when DH brought home some from Meijer. They claimed to be purposely for RV's - and cost more than twice the price of normal toilet paper. He didn't check the price, was just glad he found it. But I looked at the receipt, and promptly took it back to Meijer. I mean, it was like $9-something for 4 tiny rolls!! We have run across the smaller packages and picked up a couple when TP was very scarce, but at a fair price!!
Words cannot tell you how much it meant to see the kids yesterday!! They have been like family to us since they were little (so they cannot ever remember life without us) and we have done SO MUCH together over the years!! Their dad was very family-oriented, and we have many, many shared memories. They also got to catch us up on some of the happenings since we've seen them last. Probate is, of course, taking forever; but DS#1 (who has returned to his home in NC) has the necessary paperwork for them to move ahead with listing the house for sale and they have a good realtor (with family ties). DD mentioned that she and her dad went to Black Rock for her October birthday - and I remarked that we had a bunch of Black Rock gift cards and so did they (from their dad) so we got out our calendars set a date for next Thursday. We have mostly all gone together when we've gone there and it has been a number of times, so it will bring back sweet memories. We took a "selfie" of the four of us with our masks on and sent it to DS#1 who responded with a sweet response. He was very happy we were all together as he feels very protective of his siblings.
Ann ~ Enjoy your pizza tonight. I am slicing up the leftover grilled hot dogs to mix with a small can of Bush's Baked Beans and Yoder's Coleslaw. I also made a recipe that a WW friend sent me for a ZERO point salad of sweet corn, black beans, mango, red onion, cilantro and lime juice. It makes a nice side to most anything.
BBL.

I meant to add that I bought two racks of baby back ribs - I'm the only one who love them so they will last a bit. How do you rib lovers fix the baby backs? I may par boil and grill them, but I'd love to hear your ideas. One of them is thawed and one is frozen.
DH's blueberry cobbler is baking and smells so good. Splurge today! Ill pick this over cheesecake any old day. He is the cheesecake lover! :-)
Oh, the Pandemic is teaching me new things besides the ukulele. I just installed two new window blinds that I had ordered. One in an upstairs bathroom and one in the downstairs bathroom. Not a huge deal, but showed me I can do a few things! lol
sue, the Black Rock sounds like a special place for you - good memories!

Judy ~ I did ribs for the first time this year. (Yep, the pandemic is teaching all of us what we CAN do). I never did them before because I don't like the idea of boiling them. But now that I have the Instant Pot, I (pressure) cooked them in there for 25 minutes and then brushed with BBQ sauce and put in the oven (or on grill) for 5 minutes just to glaze the sauce. I've always done my corn-on-the-cob in the m/w with 1/2 c. of water, so more steamed than boiled. I have a problem with the flavor being "cooked out" though I'm sure that isn't the case.

Back from a different Walmart and Ocean State both in Gardner not far from us. I was able to SCORE the rotel and happy as a clam. Now I can rest easy until I can stock up on the cases when we hit BJ's again LOL. Happy bday to DH, Judy and Happy Anniversary. I'm LOL'ing as our wedding anniversary is the 22 of June and we will be married 40 years...my bday is the 27th LOL...funny how we all have our own 'June stuff' I'm almost done with the Obsession and the title fits the book!!!!! I have read that Barbara Delinsky book and it was great. Belva Plain is another fantastic author. All of these authors I've totally forgotten about. I shall be revisiting them soon. Yes I HAVE seen the small rolls of TP...what ARE they thinking? ? Sheesh is all I got to say. Won't do any good to complain as I'm sure they will blame it all on the 'virus'. I do think, however, that the PRICE should also decrease!!!! Okay...vent over! Yeah to your weight being down. It's harder, I think, with the darn humidity. I used to LOVE cheesecake...now when I have it, it bothers my stomach. Probably like the Alfredo sauce it's just too rich. I love cobbler and yes, hands down that would win with me as well. Especially fresh out of the oven Sue I am so very happy that you are going to Black Rock. It sounds like such a wonderful place that has so much meaning to y'all behind it. Enjoy as I know you will That salad you are making sounds awesome, and easy. I'm all over that. I do corn the same way. Comes out great all the time. Ribs in the Instant pot rock. I will either put them in the oven or Carl will throw them on the grille. Soooo good. Everything we bought is all put away...and kitchen is cleaned once again. Now time for me to relax. Will CBL

Hello dear friends!
I think I have caught up with all you have been doing and Sue, your visit with "the kids" made me smile. What a great way for all of you to remember good times and happy memories with their dad who is so missed right now!
We were blessed with 36% humidity yesterday as we worked for 2 full hours in 90 degree heat to get all the sea rack cleaned up. Our neighbor across the street had a large pile in front of his place and another huge pile in front of the empty lots at the end of our cul-de-sac. We added to that pile, made another and dumped some along the canal bank in back. We worked steadily with a pitch fork, a rake and a large clothes basket for hauling. Not great, but the best we could do without a wheelbarrow. Even though we made sure to drink lots of water, I was feeling light-headed by the time we finished and had racked up over 12,000 steps. I also exceeded my "intensity" minutes of getting my heart rate up by 100 minutes. We both collapsed in the AC and rested for quite a while before showering and getting dinner going. I slept for 8 1/2 hours, even with 2 bathroom trips. I was able to quickly go back to sleep.
We had a big breakfast of biscuits, grits, scrambled eggs and bacon at 10:00 am, so plan to skip lunch except for maybe some fruit and veggies. Dinner will be Weinies and Lentils with more fresh corn and tomatoes on the side. We cleaned the camp, packed up and are home now and unpacked with nothing to do, so I'm thinking a nap might be good. I do have a Catholic Daughter meeting at 6:00 and may get in a short walk afterwards. It's way too hot (90) to walk now.
Ann - So nice that you found your Rotel! We also enjoy our homemade pizzas.
Sue - I think those tiny camper-sized rolls of TP are made specially to biodegrade quickly and not cause problems with camper sewer systems, but I could be wrong. The prices sounds outrageous either way, IMHO.
Judy - Happy Anniversary and Happy Birthday to your DH. DH bakes ribs in the oven @350, covered, for about an hour and then puts them on the grill and adds bbq sauce.

I found a recipe to season the ribs and remove the membrane and wrap them in heavy duty foil and bake them at 275 degrees for four hours; then add the bbq sauce and broil them for a couple minutes until they are carmelized. Came out great but I’m saving them for another night. I was looking for the easy way out and I found it! I had eggplant Parmesan from one of our favorite places and DH had their special feta, olive, lemony Mediterranean pasta dish . We both had angel hair- my fave. I ate about one third- it was huge! So good.

Thank you all for all your cooking tips everyone! Wow, Pam that sounded like a ton of work. You really racked up the heart and the steps. You accomplished so much! Does your place sit on the water? Is the rack seaweed? I’m not familiar with rack. We northerners are naive! 😃
I’m outside on the deck and the breeze has kicked in so it’s lovely now.
Ann, we are twins! Birthdays and anniversaries! We were married in St Ann’s Church in Shrewsbury!

Wow Pam that was awesome that you humidity wasn't through the roof while you did all your outside chores. So sorry you got lightheaded. It's a wonder, with all the steps you had. At least you cut some quality Z's and rested even with potty trips I also share the same questions as Judy LOL.......In fact, I'm a complete stranger to any type of yard work or flowers veggie growing. I have the inside to take care of and Carl enjoys puttering outside with the lawn and what have you. No garden...just a few flower beds that he tends to. We never did have our pizza. Instead, Carl suggested ham and cheese sandwiches with a salad. It was very good as it was so hot and just the thought of a pizza didn't appeal to either of us. Pam your meals sound great. Glad you enjoyed. Judy I remember St. Anne's church in Shrewsbury. At one time they had an orphanage there as well. Many moons ago. LOL to Bday and Anniversary twins That recipe sounds quick and easy to prepare, Judy. Carl loves playing around on the grille. Me? All I'm interested in is the finished product LOL. Grilles and smokers...definitely a guy thing! Love eggplant parm. Bet it was tasty. It's still HOT here. We will take LuLa for another walk...once the sun goes down. More than likely it won't be till 7:30 7:45 ish. Going to sit and finish my book. I HATE to...and I know y'all can relate to that. Sweet dreams.......
