Whether you are regular poster or a lurker, we encourage you to talk with us. We do talk about books, but also about our lives, and Weight Watchers. We are women who are spread around the country, and eventually you will learn you we are, and what books we like to read.Don't be intimidated, just pop in and tell us who you are, and what you are reading now.
This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year old board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

Good morning. Another blue sky this early morning, looks like the high won't be 90, just 88.
Marsha, I had not heard that they switched the game to Notre Dame. If it is a home game for them, then why was it originally scheduled for here in GB? Still not understanding, when your DD comes home for Thanksgiving, will that be the end of going to school for the rest of the whole year, or just till January?
Pinky, glad to hear from you, and that you are going to therapy. It will just take a lot of time and patience. As I mentioned the other day, when you are more comfortable being on here, I want to hear all about your stroke experience. We all want to hear what you went through.
Since I came on here late yesterday, I have nothing to talk about.
What is up with my eating??? That is what I have to look into today. This week I went way off the rails. I dread weigh in tomorrow, I know it won't be good.
Still reading I Eliza Hamilton. It is good, but it is starting to drag on.
Today I will make part of the dessert for tomorrow night's dinner. It is a 3 layer pan of brownie's. I love making things like that, when we are going away, then I can leave the rest there. I have not made this recipe in quite a few years, so I am looking forward to it. Then of course there is apartment cleaning to be done. The nice thing about that, is it is always there waiting to be done, so if not today, then tomorrow.
Have a wonderful day everyone.

Karen - I heard that the notre dame game is at notre dame, and I think it was at Lambeau because of some move to play at NFL stadiums. South Bend doesn't have an NFL team. But what I heard may not be true. If I hear any more, I will let you know. As for the school year, they will send the students home Thanksgiving and go online for the rest of the semester (9 days) and finals. So the calendar will remain the same but in-person learning will end before Thanksgiving. I don't know if they will offer a winterim term. They haven't said. And spring semester starts something like January 18. So that means they are home from Thanksgiving through the middle of January but classes end as normal in December.
Not much to report. DH went grocery shopping yesterday so we had burgers for dinner. tonight we are having fish tacos made with the beer battered cod from Costco. He is thinking about going to Walmart because there were a few things he couldn't find at the grocery store - fantastic and dawn dish soap - and we always got the dawn refills at Walmart. I gave him a list of other things he can pick up if he goes. The Walmart near us is near a meat packing plant so he doesn't want to go there, he's debating going to the Walmart in a nicer area.
Pinky - so glad you checked in.
I dog walked this morning. It was very nice out but by the time I left for work it was already toasty and getting humid. I tried to wake dh because he said he wanted to get up and walk the dog before it got hot out, he said yes he's getting up but he did not appear before I left. I assume Mitzi won't get her second walk today.

Waiting to for DH to get home and walk so this may be short. Busy morning spent with some coworkers going through some things at work. Some things are being sent back and other things going to the food bank and Goodwill. We were told to take what we wanted so I came home with a trunkful. Not sure what I really will do with it all though that's not edible. Sad seeing the place for the last time.
I finally spent my gift certificate from work from last Dec and got another robo vac. Now I can keep one downstairs and won't have to carry it up and down when needed not that it's all that heavy. Just handier having one on each level.
Karen, keep a couple of masks in your glove compartment so you'll always have them if needed. Pinky, so nice to hear from you. Keep getting well!
DH just got home so gotta go....

Gareth, I always have masks floating around in my car, but no one else really goes in my car. Good that you got that robovac with a gift certificate. I know you talked about wanting one last week. I am sure it is sad to close that center. I wonder if eventually WW will open more of the centers again. Or, do you think they will do like they did in the old days, have meetings in churches and places like that?
Karen, your brownie cake sounds sinfully delicious. My younger DS & DDIL are coming for Father's Day, but they are doing the Whole 30 diet, so no desserts other than fruit. I might get something for DH. I am planning to get him old fashioned candy for Father's Day. The place that has it is near a good bakery. The good bakery near us closed close to a year ago. They have too much competition on certain things from BJ's, Costco and the various supermarket bakeries, and with rents quite high, it just wasn't worth it I guess. I am hoping the bakery I will go to will have the kind of things he likes.
Marsha, I think it's a smart idea to not bring the kids back for only 9 days of classes, especially those who have to fly in from other cities. I am really wondering what parents from around here are going to let their kids do. I'll have to see if my DDIL has heard anything through the alumni network.
I decided the other day that I was not going to be the only one responsible for starting up our networking meeting. I emailed the 2 other board members who have been involved lately, and neither one even answered, asking someone to take over. I decided that I didn't need 1 more stressful thing to deal with, so I told them, and everyone, that we would have no meeting because of it. The only person who responded was one who said he could do it, but not this morning, and he has not been available almost every morning that we have done this. I think he was on 1 call.
I have to get my act together to get my ongoing project at work moving. I don't know why I just couldn't focus on what I needed to do, other than to get some bills out that DH finally commented on.

Not much going on around here. I went grocery shopping this morning. Walmart was about the same as it has been the last few weeks. Some people were wearing masks, some not. I asked about a cashier that I haven't seen in a long time. It turns out he had to quit because he has heart problems. A man who used to go to our church died last night from the virus. He is the first person we know who has passed away from it.
We facetimed with DGS yesterday. DD gave him the phone while she was doing something. It was funny because he was talking the whole time. We had a conversation though, of course, I didn't know what he was saying. The other day when DD was taking him downstairs, she started counting the steps. DGS started counting, too. They didn't know he could do that. He can count to 10. They decided he was ready for potty training so he's back in diapers.
We keep masks in our cars.
Brownies sound wonderful.
