Good Morning, WW Friends ~
Happy Father's Day! I felt a little sad this morning as I always wrote a greeting to DH's VBF on this day because he so graciously shared his kids with us, and they were (and still are) such a joy to us. I have begun texting them instead.
I also slept well last night, and so did my DH!! He said it was the best night's sleep he has had for a while. He finished a big job yesterday, and came home by lunchtime, so he got to rest and relax. That plus the big job being off his mind must have been the magic bullet. He napped in the afternoon, and then slept all night.
We have a hot one on tap, along with high humidity. We are expecting t'storms right around the time the family has decided to meet up. The back-up plan is Big Boy right up the street. I cannot possibly tell you how much I detest Big Boy. Back in the day, there were things there that I liked, but that was then. I've only been there once in recent years - my other niece wanted to eat there, so we did as I thought "I can always have salad bar" (which used to be decent). It was absolutely awful!! I am hoping that if we end up there, things have improved!?! If not, I can eat when I get home.
Last night's supper turned out very good. We both enjoyed it, and there is enough leftovers for another supper. Lunch yesterday was lasagna soup that DH brought home from a local restaurant the day before, and some red seedless grapes. This morning we had my homemade Breakfast Casserole as it is very filling, and we don't plan to eat again until the family gathering in mid-afternoon.
I have run the vacuum and put away some more clean clothes and worked on cleaning out the refrigerator. DH usually does our Kroger shopping on Sunday, so we need the vegetable drawer to be emptied out. It is too hot and muggy out there, as I discovered when I stepped out to shake the rugs.
BBL. Make a great day!!

Hi all,
Happy Fatherās Day to all the dads out there weather it be fur kids, nieces and nephews, very best friends kids or any kids out there. All good guys are dads to someone!
As Ann said, itās hazy, hot and humid here today again. It will be another laid back day here at the ranch! Relaxing and reading and doing a few things are in the agenda. I made another weekend breakfast with eggs, bacon and ww muffins. Then I started leafing through a cookbook a friend gave me some time ago. Itās all about New England and eating fresh in season. I decided to make a gazpacho since itās so hot. I realized I had all the ingredients on hand after I made the list. Itās in the fridge marinating now. I also made a Butterbean and corn salad that Iāll top with avocados. We have one last Hello Fresh meal - chicken, roasted potatoes. I also have a head if broccoli florets roasting in garlic and lemon right now to use up that head. Like you sue, I try to clean out the fridge in Sundayās and use up what I can to start the week fresh. I also whipped up strawberry/banana smoothies in the Ninja.
Have fun at your party, Sue. I hope the storms hold off so you can stay outside at DQ. Iām too nervous for inside dining anywhere. Iām still a bit twitchy about my upcoming patio dining at the Sole Proprietor tomorrow night. Iāve driven by some places and seen the tables outside spaced apart, but guess Iām overly cautious. But I will go; however, when I get there if I donāt like the feel of it, Iāll change my mind. My friend will understand.
Off to get moving! Have a great day. We slept well, too!

Sue so happy that you reach out to DH VBF children via text. I'm sure it meant a lot to them. Wonderful that both you and DH slept well last night. There's nothing quite like it in my book! Sue I remember going to Big Boys back in the day and it was always good fresh and clean...until it wasn't. Not even sure if they are still around the Worcester area. Here in Boonsville we have 3 chain restaurants...the rest are mom/pop variety. I hope you don't go there. Like you, I would probably 'show up' and eat when I got home. Why pay for something that you don't enjoy! Yes to a great meal and leftovers Enjoy. Judy I hear you on patio dining. We are still on the fence re: going out to eat either for my bday or our Anniversary. I told Carl I will leave the decision up to him as I tend to change my mind a million times...talking myself in and out of the same decision if you know what I mean. Actually, truth be told, I'm kind of liking and enjoying taking turns cooking and enjoying our own meals.....just color me boring The cookbook you have sounds great. Glad you are enjoying making some recipes and awesome that you have all the ingredients Win Win my friend. I did 2 more loads of laundry, cleaned bathrooms kitchen and swept the floor. Once the last load of laundry is dry, I shall fold and put away. THEN I'll do what I do best....RELAX I took a hood walk earlier. Pushed myself further than I wanted to go and let me tell you, I was NEVER happier to be hit in the face with the cool AC on! We only took LuLa to do her thing and went back out ourselves. She minds the heat much more than I do. Waving to Pam and will CBL

Happy Father's Day to all the dads! I agree with Judy that all men are a "dad" to someone at some time. DD1 & DD2 are coming for a late lunch with DH. He wanted to grill burgers and boil corn, so that's what's on the menu, along with baked beans and potato salad. For breakfast, I had fresh blueberries, which are SO good this time of year, with yogurt & seeds. Dinner will be something light, like a salad, since we're eating a big meal at 2:00 pm. After Mass this morning, Debbie and I walked another 3.4 miles and I made my step goal and then some. It is warm and humid today with a "feels like" of 93. Now that I have cooled off some, I will get a shower and change and start getting things ready for when the girls come. The plan is to be outdoors in the shade, possibly with fans blowing, if there's no breeze then. We had a nice long talk with DD3 last evening, while Madison & her dad had a "sleepover in Grammie's room" as his Father's Day gift. She planned it all for the past week--board games, popcorn, painted toenails (Mike got blue, his fav color), pillow fight and staying up late with extra iPad time. Like a typical 5 year old kid, she planned all HER favorite things, trusting that daddy would like them, too. Well, time for me to get things going here. Enjoy your Sunday!

Judy ~ Your dishes sound wonderful! Tell me more about the broccoli roasting in garlic and lemon? That sounds intriguing and like something I would like to do. I love starting the new week with all fresh produce. Lately when we have blueberries leftover, I freeze them then use them in oatmeal the next weekend (which is what we had yesterday). I fully understand being nervous about eating out. I also prefer the outdoors ā¦. But VBF and I went on the āspur of the momentā a while ago which was for the best, because we chose somewhere we eat at frequently and were very pleased with both the seating arrangements and the care taken by the wait staff. Donāt worry about anyone thinking youāre overly cautious ā I donāt! This is my life, and I will take any and all precautions that make ME comfortable!
Ann ~ I had quite a nice text conversation with DH VBF DS#1 who lives out of state. He was having a sad so I guess my timing was great! We are his last link to his dad (other than his sibs) since his parents had been divorced for many years. He got to share with me how much he missed his dad knowing I would understand. I encouraged him to MAKE a great day and he wrote back that he was going golfing and would enjoy that and the sunshine. I also tend to change my mind about things, so VBF suggesting lunch on the spur of the moment was perfect. She had been as leery as I was, so we were thankful we just ātook the plungeā. Of course, we had the additional fact that we hadnāt seen each other for 3 months! DH and I went to Red Lobster last week, but we purposely went when it was NOT busy (at 4 pm) and were also pleased with the precautions being taken and the service. It is only about 5 minutes from home, so if we had gotten there and been unhappy or uncomfortable, we could have just come home.
I donāt think ANY of us should feel like we have to apologize for being cautious. I fear I will be cautious for a good long time (the rest of my life perhaps?) I am reading about states where the people were not cautious and they are having resurgence. Fortunately Michigan is not one of them!! I would rather err on the side of caution. Perhaps that is another advantage of growing older??
I will BBL to let you know how the DQ celebration went. People keep saying there is a picnic area there, but I have gone there for years and never saw one. They recently remodeled and enlarged the parking lot (it is quite busy) and the outdoor seating, but I donāt recall it being family-sized?? Since it is not my plan, I will go along and weāll seeā¦.. DH has now said he doesnāt plan to stay very long anyway.

Pam ~ We were cross-posting it would seem. Your dinner sounds delicious! I can relate to the blueberries, as we have been getting beautiful ones recently as well. I had to LOL about Madisonās plans for her Fatherās Day celebration. Definitely a 5-year-oldās dream. I am sure Dad enjoyed it and she did too. Hope he took pictures, as she will treasure those when she is older. Thanks for the mental picture of that. Enjoy the rest of your day!!

Popping in once more before I shut the desktop down for the day. I have my phone, just not a fan of pecking away LOL. Pam SO good to get the visual of Madison and DD That put a smile on my face. I shared it with Carl and he also enjoyed the story. Kudos to your walking! You are really raking up those steps. I am not doing well in that department with the outside walking as it's just. too. HOT. to. HANDLE! I am house walking but I have one HUGE problem with that....the sectional screams my name whenever I walk past LOL......oh well, tomorrow IS another day and yes, I realize I'm saying that an awful lot lately. So far the weight hasn't been spiking upward, so it's all good. Your fathers day meal sounds delish. What's not to love You have all my favorites on one table LOL. Sue warms my heart to know that DH VBF DS#1 is going to do something special. Anything outdoors will be a good mood lifter for him. Praying that he finds peace in the game. Wonderful that you hit Red Lobster just right. Also great that it's just minutes from home. I'm praying hard that the fit with Big Boys is going to be a good one. Perhaps they have changed......and if not, there is always your plan B. Nice that DH doesn't plan on lingering there. I also agree about not apologizing for being cautious. I do feel that some states have opened up far too quickly and are now reaping the punishments rather than the reward. Sad....... I've already old Carl that if MA does away with the 'face masks' I will NOT go into a store to pick up anything. I won't risk it! How I'll get groceries and the like? Not sure. Perhaps I can hire someone to do our bidding! Now I am going to shut down......be well my friends and will see y'all in the Cafe tomorrow morning.

Hey again all,
Pam, your celebration today sounds ideal! Also, I really loved hearing about Madisonās Fatherās Day sleepover with her daddy. Mike must be the sweetest daddy ever - I was telling my DH about it and telling him I so wished our DGD in CA had a dad like that instead of the one she got. Sad, but weāre hoping all the good males in her life and uncles and grandpa help make up for it.
Sue, my meal tomorrow is outside patio dining and Iām still nervous. Inside dining has not opened up here yet, but soon. Massachusetts has been ultra cautious and Iām so thankful for that. Iāll be curious to hear about your experience and hope you donāt have to go to Big Boy, too. Salad bars make me very nervous with all the sharing. Color me anxious. Lol
Ann, like you, I donāt have many steps. Too hot! I go at about 8 pm. Iām off to relax. Our gazpacho turned out good and so did the other two sides. Sue, on the broccoli, all I do is mince or chop a couple garlic buds and zest some lemon. I roast the broccoli (drizzled with EVOO and sprinkled with the garlic And zest) at 425 for about 15 min - flipping halfway through.
I had another stupid typo above on my first post- weather should be whether. Iām better pecking away on the iPad than using the microphone!
Both kids called DH and had long chats. That made him happy. š
