This is a thread devoted to those in their 50s & 60s and beyond who don't have children or grandchildren but live rich, full lives. Please feel free to join our stroll thru life and come back often for support and to share. ********************************************* Avatar is a Burpee seed called Sweet Thing, a sweet cayenne pepper that grows 10-12”long. It is National Work From Home Day. That is funny and sad at the same time. It is also Global Beatles Day, as in the music group. “Help” is one of my favorites along with”Yesterday” and “Michelle,” of course. These words from “Help” seem so apropos these days. ”Help me if you can, I'm feeling down And I do appreciate you being 'round Help me get my feet back on the ground Won't you please, please help me?” And these from “Yesterday:” “Yesterday all my troubles seemed so far away. Now it looks as though they're here to stay. Oh, I believe in yesterday.“

We have a couple of birthdays coming up. Liz on June 27 and Linda in July 5.
Any plans other than gearing up for the work week, Liz? It mist be so exhausting commuting to and working in the city in normal times. Now you have to worry about who is sneezing and coughing without a mask. I hope you are taking good care and not neglecting your health.
Linda, you’re not making your own birthday cake, I hope. Any plans to wave at the family and talk through the door? My DB does not call at all. We communicate through texts and photos but he has never been one to phone.
Karen, I hope Osteo goes well.
Waving to the gang. My eye does not feel as gritty and one section and node look better but another is progressing more slowly, so I am still limiting screen time.

Chele, thanks for the start. Nice looking pepper. I'm glad your eye is improving. That is sad and funny about Work From Home Day. If they had only known when they came up with that one! Have you seen the movie Yesterday? It's a fun story. A glitch happens in the world that erases the Beatles from most people's memories. The one guy that remembers them starts performing the songs as his own.
Karen, they aren't planning to scale back at the state level, but they are starting to shut down some restaurants and bars that aren't following guidelines. The bars are still supposed to be at 50% capacity and I haven't heard if they plan to hold off on moving to the next phase or not. Disney is still planning to reopen in July. Several counties have made face masks mandatory, but DeSantis won't do it at the state level. The aunt that cancelled is the NSB one. The other one is in Delaware, so I don't think she'll be visiting any time soon. I'd like to see the MG video when it's available. I'm hoping for the best with DM's AT&T visit today. She may be switching providers if they can't fix it.
The Saharan dust is here and we have a very strange, hazy sky. It's supposed to make us dryer for a few days, but so far, we've been getting violent thunderstorms in the evening. The forecast is 95 with a feels like of 105. Ugh.

I heard of the movie but did not see it, Kathy. We have our last nice day for awhile with low humidity. We went out and weeded. Covid cases are still rising so we are still house bound. I hope your aunties and DM continue to take care of themselves. How is the air quality with the haziness caused by the dust? Becky, is your soreness gone? Denise, if there was no one within 6 feet of me outside my mask would be off except at the farmer’s market. I made some zucchini fritters today. Easy recipe. I only used a little oil to sauté them. I bet they would do okay in the oven, too. Zucchini fritters recipe 110 calories. I took leftover zucchini and sautéed with onion and garlic added some shredded mozzarella and rolled in leftover lasagna noodles. Put them in a pan with leftover tomato sauce and will neat them in oven tomorrow. I am the recycle leftover queen these days.

Thanks for the start, Chele. Sweet cayenne?? I'll have to check that one out. What's the Scovill on it? Lately I think every day has been Work from Home Day for so many people. Global Beatles Day? Who knew? Difficult to choose a favorite song, but I like some of their funky stuff--Get Back, Magical Mystery Tour, Lovely Rita, and several of the Sgt. Pepper songs. I also like a lot of John Lennon's mellow stuff and wish he hadn't gotten involved with Yoko and certainly wish he hadn't been murdered. I wonder how he would have been if he was still around now, like Paul is. You're right about Help! and Yesterday being appropriate these days. Thanks for the birthday reminders. I have those somewhere but hadn't thought to look lately. Great that the eye is looking better, even though it doesn't feel better. Both of mine feel a bit gritty after going through a road construction zone next to a huge earth mover truck blowing a cloud of dust all over everything and I didn't have a chance to roll up the windows. YUM on the zucchini fritters. I need to try that. Becky, I swam your lap on Monday. Did you feel the burn? How are you feeling today after the grueling PT session yesterday? Are you going to get Sarahan dust there? It seems to be following a different path than usual. How's covid? I think you may be right that Abbott has done too little too late. We're up another 800 cases since yesterday and all the nearby counties are up today, including 27 new cases in Sevier County. But we're still holding the county fair. The only thing saving us is that we don't have the population the rest of you do. Only 101 yesterday with the clouds, Linda? Did you have to put on a sweater to walk Micki? Let me know what you think about that book. Sounds right up my alley. I went to TJ's today and they were stricter than any place I have shopped since the reopening. I had to wait in line to get in and all but 3 people were wearing masks. Two of them were a grandmother in her 70s and her 20-something grandson and they not only didn't wear masks but seemed to think it was their private store and were cutting in front of people and being generally obnoxious, and then line-hopped me at the checkout. GRRRR.... Your family sounds like mine. If it wasn't for FB, we would have no contact. I would like to cut off from FB, but that's the major reason stopping me. Kathy, so much for the actual effects of Sarahan dust. At least they are shutting down some of the misbehaving restaurants and bars there. Even t-storms are a bit unusual there, aren't they? Any time I've visited, it's been heat of afternoon ones. I hope AT&T will be able to remedy DM's situation without her having to switch providers. It's nice to have options if that's what's needed, however, even if it's usually a hassle. I saw the movie, Yesterday. It was good but a little weird toward the end and I think if I had written it, I would have given it a different ending. What's the plan for your birthday weekend, Liz? At least it falls on a Saturday so you won't have to work. I hope work will leave you alone. Denise, how has your weather been? I know it can get really hot there, so I hope it hasn't been unbearable. Hope work is quiet tonight. Weird trip to Osteo. It was a challenge to even get out of town, with a traffic jam due to a minor crash blocking a lane, then a broken down tractor-trailer, a funeral procession, and a traffic signal malfunction that required a detour, all within about 2 miles. I was late getting to Osteo, which really didn't matter because they were running behind anyway. On the way home I stopped at TJ's, Publix, and then the sushi place, where I hit the motherlode, so dinner will be an easy fix. I was surprised to have such an amazing selection at 2 in the afternoon. They are doing about 25% capacity for inside dining, so it wasn't crazy at all. They have done some rearranging, however, so I had to figure out where things were and had to be in more contact with people than I would have liked as a result. We haven't had sushi since Christmas, so we're really looking forward to it.

Karen, I would've changed a few things on the Yesterday movie too, but overall I enjoyed it and thought it had some good laughs in it. What would you have changed with the ending? I did laugh at the additional thing he discovered that nobody remembered right at the end. I would've liked to know what was behind the glitch that caused the memory loss. It almost seemed like one of Dr Who's parallel universes. We get evening t-storms often enough, but afternoon is more common. Wow on the obstacles to getting to Osteo. Enjoy the sushi. You earned it!
Chele, I haven't been out too much in this air, but they're saying the air quality is moderate today due to fine particulate matter. Those fritters sound really good.

Kathy, spoiler alert for those who haven't seen the movie, I would have eliminated Kate McKinnon's character--can't remember if she was a manager or someone from a record label--didn't add anything to the plot and I would have eliminated her completelyand found another way to give him a measure of fame. Also, the scene at Wembly where Jack admitted the Beatles wrote the songs, I would have cut that because, if there were no Beatles, they couldn't have written the songs and maybe Jack created them in dreams. He could have parlayed all that cash into a massive charity to benefit anything he chose and still become a teacher. My favorite part of the movie was the scene with the alternate John Lennon. John was my favorite Beatle and I loved seeing how things might have been. I think Cyn was just not cut out to be the wife of an ultra-famous musician, so in a different reality, perhaps their marriage would have worked. Ob-La-Di was never one of my favorite songs, so I would have also changed that to a different song. I was also curious regarding the actual cause of the global memory loss. The sushi was good. Maybe my taste buds have changed a little, but the sauce on the spicy crab roll seemed a bit hotter. Got plenty left over for at least one more meal for both of us. Sorry about not being able to see the grandniece, Linda. Even too hot to meet them in a parking lot and staying in cars. Hopefully next year will be much better when they live there. You still have a little time til your birthday. Perhaps your interest level will change. I think I read that book 12 years or so ago. Some of it stuck, but some of it apparently didn't because I still have a lot of junk I don't need.

Thanks for the start Chele. I like both of those songs also.I'm glad your eye is some better.Pain is not gone. It's been worse today.I didn't even walk this morning because it was hurting so I rode the recumbent bike.
Karen I feel the burn in my knee but not from your swimming. The dust is coming this weekend. There is a 50% chance of rain tomorrow.Texas was well over 5000 new cases 2 days in a row and today almost 6000.Our county leaders do not have the spine to enforce face masks.Abbott decided to pause on any future openings and no elective surgeries can be done in a hospital in Bexar,Dallas,Harris and Travis Counties. If they can be done at an outpatient center they can still be done.
There was some excitement out here this morning.A neighbor went outside and found a man nekkid as a jaybird sitting on his swing. He told him he would have to leave and then called 911.They picked the man up and I guess took him to jail. There is a hippie commune on our road where some don't wear clothes and he could be from there.I'm glad I decided not to walk this morning. That was something I couldn't unsee.
