Sorry about the thread name mess up yesterday. Serves me right for trying to do so much.
I hope you all followed your sleep plan and got a good night's sleep.
Today is about liquids. We need at least 64 oz, but if we're overweight we need more. Some experts believe we should divide our weight in half and drink that many ounces of water. So if you weigh 170 pounds, it's 170/2=85 ounces. Others say drink until your urine is clear instead of light yellow.
You probably know that water flushes things through your system and plumps your skin (improving your complexion). But do you know that by not drinking enough water you artificially lower your metabolism? If your kidney doesn't get enough water to do it's job some of that work falls to the liver. If the liver is doing the kidney's job it can't do it's own job which is to metabolize fat into energy.
All (non-alcoholic) liquids count, but water is best.
QOTD: Do you generally drink enough liquids? Do your drinking habits change when the seasons change? Do you drink plain water, flavored water, or something else?
COTD: Get your liquids in!
Thanks for letting me host this week. I hope you all enjoyed the challenges!

I did follow my sleep plan and went upstairs after picking DS up at work. Yea me!!! It's a good thing because I didn't sleep that well and felt like my mind was zooming all night. I know it's because I've got so much to do to get ready for this weekend (Chanukkah sat, Xmas sun). The funny thing is that I was thinking about how badly we need to change our passwords. Some of them have been in place for over 10 years! According to my fitbit I ended up with 7h15m sleep.
QOTD: Do you generally drink enough liquids? - Lately I haven't been getting it in. I drink less when it's cold or when I'm busy. (both are true now.)
Do your drinking habits change when the seasons change?
- YES! I don't drink as much when it's cold. I like my water room temp, so maybe I should warm it up a little to summer temps. I drink a lot more (decaf) tea in the cooler weather.
Do you drink plain water, flavored water, or something else?
- I drink plain water in the bottle I bring to the gym. Sometimes I'll add some mint or a disk of ginger to it. - I've been drinking a lot of flavored seltzer lately. (no sugar or sweetener) I like the tarter flavors (raspberry lime, lemon lime, tangerine) - I'll often have one or two large (18-20oz) cups of tea. I've started drinking it without the milk.
COTD: I'll try!!!

I went to bed around 9:00 last night. I watched a little TV (normal for me before falling asleep) and turned it off before 10:00 and fell asleep. I know, yesterday I posted that if I go to bed at 10:00 I can't fall asleep, but I did fall asleep last night. However, I woke up two or three times during the night... and not because someone else got up to go to the bathroom. The last time I checked the clock, it was 4:50 and I hoped I'd be able to get in another hour's sleep (the alarm is set for 5:45). Alas... I turned off the alarm around 5:15, closed my eyes, and finally got out of bed about 5:50...
Do you generally drink enough liquids? I make 64 ounces of herbal tea (that never had any caffeine to begin with; I know that so-called "decaffeinated coffee" is never 100% caffeine-free, so I don't bother with decaf tea) every morning, fill travel mugs, and drink all day. Most of the time (maybe 90% or so) I finish all of it before going to bed. Once in a while, I put what's left into the fridge to add to the next morning's herbal tea.
Do your drinking habits change when the seasons change? I never noticed... A few days ago, all 64 ounces were gone by dinner time, and I was a little thirsty, so I made another approximately 12 to 16 ounces later (and finished it before bed). However, last night, I still had close to 16 ounces left (which has gone into today's 64 ounces). How did the weather change in the last few days? Yesterday the temperatures were maybe 5 degrees higher than in the previous several days... Is that really a "season" change?
Do you drink plain water, flavored water, or something else? Herbal tea with nothing added. Once in a while, I add some plain water as well. I've never developed a taste for flavored water (DH drinks it a lot).

Do you generally drink enough liquids? Most of the time I get in the minimum of water. If you count the coffee/tea I drink I get in more.
Do your drinking habits change when the seasons change? Not that much. I still get in the minimum of water, but I guess in the summer I drink more other things, like iced tea.
Do you drink plain water, flavored water, or something else? Most of the time I drink plain water or water with lemon.
As for sleep, I did get in about 7 1/2 hours last night, even though I didn't have a plan. It was just one of those nights when sleep came easily.

QOTD: Do you generally drink enough liquids? I think I get in plenty of liquids. I drink hot/ice tea all day long. Unsweetened. I usually have a glass of water on my desk at work and try to empty it several times a day. Do your drinking habits change when the seasons change? Definitely in the summer with working in the garden, etc, I will drink more water.
Do you drink plain water, flavored water, or something else? I don't mind plain water but also like to flavor it with cucumber, or orange slice or lime. During the summer I walk with a group and they always have flavored water. One of my favorites this last summer was a lime and cilantro combo. I don't really care for seltzer waters. I make a 64 ounce container of ice tea at work every Monday and drink it throughout the week. (keep adding more water).
Cindy, I am ready to take over tonight. Thanks for all the effort and time you put in to your week.

I think that I do get in plenty of liquids, not enough water somedays, but plenty of liquids, coffee, tea, orange flavored drinks, flavored water. I love my coffee & absolutely refuse to give it up. I think I drink almost as much in the winter months, maybe more hot drinks & less iced ones. I actually slept pretty well last night!! A real treat for me!!! Night before last, I hardly slept at all, I was very nauseated all day (direct result from eating too many Xmas cookies the day before ) I usually don't eat sugar at all, when I do, it has a real bad effect on me. It seems to really get my ulcers going!!! Last night, I was so tired that I actually fell asleep in my chair, slept there till 2 a. m. Then went to bed & slept till 8 am. I feel much better today, stomach finally settled down, I will be watching every bite I eat today!!! That is what I get for making terrible choices.

I'm trying so hard to get those liquids in - and to drink more water (instead of diet pop).
Why am I not doing as well as I'd like. Work is busy and outside of work is busy preparing for the holidays. Not a good excuse, but...there it is.
Harder to remember to drink in winter when I'm cold. I know I still need it, even if not thirsty, but is yet another challenge.
Plain water or diet pop - my choices are kind of at the ends of the spectrum of what's "good" or not.
