Good morning - Here's to a Happy & Healthy 4th of July to all ♥ Slept "in" Until 6:15 LOL better than my usual 4:30, but was awake and figured with company in the house I should get up... so far 7:00 AM no one else is up yet - NOT even Eden!! So I am enjoying the quiet - the birds chirping - the sun coming up?? and my COFFEE while I wait for others to come down, and get the day started! Speaking of which - I need to refill my coffee ♥ BRB

Happy 4th of July!! INDEPENDENCE DAY!! I need to feel more freedom from this weight - it's a new month, new ME, right?? Carole - how did everything go last night? I'm hoping the weather was perfect for a night swim - around here it has been hot and humid especially into the evenings - 'too hot' to sit outside even...or we are just worn out from the heat of the day... Sue - glad you had a good Birthday - put me in the group of not knowing it was your 60th!! Geesh! Not sure how we let you slip that one in LOL Is it today or was it yesterday the 3rd that Sarah's neighbors have their annual picnic with fireworks? Today we head over to DSIL's pool party...this is Gary's sister who has been following a very strict Keto diet life-style since April 2019 - annnd I'm not so sure she still is...I went over there last Sunday and I swear she looks just as heavy as she did last year...but I didn't want to ask. She did request I bring a fruit salad today for her Get Together. Last week she told me it would be "Just Us" meaning me, Gary, the Girls, my Mom, and niece Julie plus her new BF. We were fine with that - but now she said, "plan for 15"?? Wait, who else is coming? We don't know who the other guests are and to be honest now we are a little uncomfortable. My Mom backed out before she knew there were outside 'friends' coming too as she admitted she is just nervous seeing the increase in COVID numbers all around. I shared that with DSIL who immediately retorted, "the POOL is safe! It's got chlorine to kill any virus!" Ummm...it's not the WATER we are worried about but how do you social distance while in a swimming pool or visiting on the deck?? I'm not planning to wear a mask outside in the 90 degree sun to visit but with not knowing who the other guests are and whether or not they've been traveling or abiding by the Mask rule I'm not sure...Linds already announced she is returning to Slippery Rock today for a private house party w/fireworks with close friends she has been sharing her summer with all along - she will drive back here Sunday for her lunch shift. Okay by me...

I want to get ready to head out for my morning Walk...will try to check in after but it's a busy morning - I need to dash to pick up fresh fruit and prep it for the large fruit salad. Then I plan on relaxing with family remainder of day! No large fireworks or even small fireworks planned for us - we do hear them popping everywhere, and I mean everywhere! Most neighborhoods are setting them off all around and it's honestly annoying - thankful Colby does NOT react to the noise but I feel for our Veterans with PTSD who most certainly can react!
Okay - don't want to lose track of time -

Good morning!
Feeling a little warmer this morning, but now our "usual" 100's for July so it's good. Happy 4th of July--I do think that, with everything going on, I feel that it is especially important to be thankful for our independence---which is NOT compromised by being required to wear a mask!! I just shake my head at that one. I do wish that there were some fireworks somewhere that we could see from a distance...I will miss that. We are not getting together with family either--just isn't worth it right now with COVID surging and all. I would have been in Los Angeles right now (well, in the outskirts of it) and I am glad that it all changed. Hoping that people have SOME sense this weekend in terms of making healthy decisions.
Carole: How was your time last night? That would be PERFECT to have just Tim, Jaclyn, and Eden for the night AND your quiet time alone in the morning too---really perfect! Was there time to swim last night? I would love to have that under the stars! Hope that today is a good day and that your get together feels relaxing and not overdone...should be a nice weekend! Is Tracy feeling ready to get the surgery over with? I hope that this extra, unexpected delay at least provided that for her. LOL, I had to laugh about that party where people had nice spot to squat outside to use the bathroom, LOL. Too funny (and not worth it to me)!
Sue: Wow, a busy birthday but I always love reading about Jason's notes So sweet! And crab? Yum!!! Sounds like a nice get together today as well. It's so much better to be outside and spread out. I have to go by the grocery store today for a couple of things but that is it...hope to grill some fruit and a burger (for me) tonight--it just wouldn't be the 4th without a hamburger! Hope that you have a good day---OH, and we have really liked the National Geographic shows on Disney+....it really is a different kind of station.

Christine: Uggh about your DSIL and the 15 people! I am SO over people doing things like that. I hope that, if you drive up and see that a crowd is there, you feel like you can drop off your fruit salad, tell her thank you, and go home. See how you feel about it? Not sure how Gary feels about leaving though....Good for your mom...sounds like she is really being careful (as she should be). So sorry that you are put in this position though. My sister and I talked about this..how it puts you in an odd place where people think you are being judgemental. Really though, it's not be judgemental at all (it's their own decision) it is only be careful for yourself. Hope that you find a a middle ground with all of it....
Shelly: Hope that the company arrived safely and you have a fun houseful! AND that you get to leave work a little early....
Hello to Jenny, Lisa, Jo, and all who follow. Need to leave in about 15 min so better get ready. I will stop in later (I think)....

Christine: YAY for having this time off to enjoy yourself! A trip to the beach sure sounds nice! Good job walking too! YAY for getting that pesky blood work done!
Lisa: YAY for a nice bike ride...sorry for the sweating that goes with it - but good for you powering through!! Yes, very busy - but VERY productive - and feel pretty good about the week overall! I am still pushing for a trip to Pigeon Forge when travel gets back to "normal"?! I too will be 62 this fall... Three.More.Years.!
Sue: So sorry - I forgot it was your birthday! You - Jo - Gabrielle, all around this time ♥ So HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ALL ♥
Gabrielle: YAY for getting your car ready for your birthday this year! WOO HOO Can't wait to see the pics! Hopefully you took before and after photos?
Yes - sounds like the best news possible for your Abby {{{hugs}}} sorry it wasn't BETTER news but knowing they got it all is sure good to hear!
I still don't understand WHY you can't just get a holiday OFF! OY VEY!
Hmmm, I hadn't thought of that - intermittent fasting... but hey - that IS one way to look at it! Yes, to day will be nice - I know it will be a lot of prep, but I have a good team of helpers here so it's all good! Thank you - yes I know Eden will still be young enough to need me when I have the time... it's just weird that now they ask Mary to watch her more than they ask even Tracy!
UGH I cannot imagine being ANYWHERE where that many people will all be together! I never thought I was "in fear" of COVID but I have to tell you - hearing about some people's holiday plans this weekend - are kind of freaking me out... having to work with them all next week! It is very unsettling for me - not sure why!
So happy DS20 made it home and all his things are back in CA for him!! When does he start classes again??
I would enjoy a Zoom... not sure this weekend will work for me - but let me know when is good for everyone & I will see what I can do to join you all! ♥
Sue: AH yes - you were truly OFF yesterday... glad you got to sleep in a bit - and can you PLEASE send the DRYER weather up this way?? I am tired of the dreary gray skies here! Hope the picnic was fun... we were not able to be outside at all last night! SO the girls settled in for Frozen II and we sat and had a nice visit with Tim & Jaclyn. WOW - to the apology from "the crank"!
We are up to being able to gather in groups of 25 inside, 100 outside! Will start asking Patti about thinking about how or when we might be able to do Matt's service!
Yeah - seems this is the year of "ruined" plans! I am putting together a plan to go take Nancy out to lunch during my vacation - but not getting my heart SET on it - yet... between her Mom and Covid, and the usual "nothing works out for me right now" - I am being cautious about PLANNING anything!
Glad your BD turned out well - even after such a grueling day! Not surprised you fell asleep kind of early!! Oh YAY for Hannah not having any trouble getting to Shea!! I bet the boys were on best behavior - they knew it was already a stressful trip... good that they are old enough now to be a little independent! Glad Shea can leave the base to visit OK City, and they must be staying on a local hotel? AH he has an off base apartment - even better!
I actually took off TWO Mondays in August OFF. So Ken may take a vacation week, so we can leave town on a Friday evening - when I get out of work - then come home Monday... nothing "set in stone" but something to think about.
HA! No haven't mastered it yet, but feels good figuring some little glitches out!
OMG Yes... apparently all the times during COVID that Kaitlin has been at her sister's house - they were not allowed inside... they peed in the woods!
LOL Yeah I know... my time WILL come... I will be the FUN Gramma, with the pool and the hot tub... for a while, then we will be the Grandparents they can come spend time with when we move down south!
OK I need to get moving... Eden wants to go in the pool!

Good morning! The dogs woke me up at 615 this morning jumping on the bed wanting their morning treats. I started in bed meditated until 638 then I got up and get it to them. Steve was a sleep in the living room. Dont know why they don’t bother. Him. Geez but I went to bed fairly early so had a good nights sleep. It is so freaking hot here! Oily! It will be in the 90s all week and so very humid.
I found a local company/farmer that does produce boxes1. I am so excited. They were set up yesterday in the next town over so we went and I got peaches, 2 cantaloupes. I signed up for their large produce box that will be delivered Thursday or Friday. I will take it to the lake most likely.
oknow for the big news!
I. Have my weekly call with my Mum on fridays at 4pm. When they called Rachael (director of acitvities who schedules these calls and zoom) said my Mum fell while bowling. She lost her balance and did I want to still talk to her. Well I said yes I did. She was in tears she was in so much pain. she fell backwards on her butt. She said her leg hurt below her knee and up top like it was her hip. It had just happened and they had called sister #3 15 minutes prior. They took her to the er. My sister requested a particular hospital because she could go back with her. She drove there to meet them when the ambulance got there. My Mum was tested Thursday for COVID and they didn t have the results back. Yet. They put my Mum in isolation since we didnt know if she had COVID. My sister was crying telling them she hasnt seen her in 4 months can she please got back. She thought they would relent but they sent her home and they would call her. They did a quick Covid test that came back negative. She did not break anything but we was/is in a lot of pain. Thank goodness she did not break anything. The nurse called my sister and she told her to come to the hospital now that she would let her visit for 10minutes before she. Called the memory care. Well they let her drive my Mum back to Whitetail. The memory care. My mum didnt recognize her at first but than she was ok with her. Oh my. Goodness she was so blessed to not have broken anything. If she had it would have been the beginning of the end. So very thankful.

Carole, glad you had a nice time last night. I have wanted to or see Frozen 2..LOL. I hope the girls liked it. Glad you got to spend some quality time with Tim and jaclyn and Eden. Where are you thinking about going on your long weekend, any ideas? Glad you have good helpers with you today. you shouldnt do all the set up/clean up yourself.
Sure, I agree how did you sneak turning 60 by us? IM so glad you had a nice Bday! Those crabs looked yummy and jasons note is so sweet. I had to pick my bday present sant out that steve got me. But at least I know Ill like them.Nice you got to spend it with the boys.
Gabriellle, 100s? Is that with or without humidity? It’s in the 90s here and very humid. Ugh. I was going to get dressed and walk outside this morning but t was already so hot!! How do you run in weather like that? I have been walking in my driveway. We live on an acre and it is paved in front and all the way to the back yard. it is a hill so Im going to work my way up to walking up and down the hill. I get out of breath doing it now. I m been using the WW walks on the app. They are pretty good and I get a good workout.
* have been walking out side and getting my dots. Yesterday I only got 5 out of 10 but my Fitbit was charging so half of the time didnt get tracked.n. Getting up and walking while here] working has really helped.
carole, it was very slow on Thursday, everyone was out of the office for the holiday weekend. I was watching council of dads while I was working. LOL
Christine, so glad it it finally nice up. Your way. Im looking forward to a do nothing vacation up there. We are having my nephews and Emilies graduation party on Sunday while up there. It should be fun. you are so lu key that Colby doesn’t get freaked out over fireworks. All 3 of my dogs get very freaked out. There were fireworks going off last night and they were alll shaking. Oiy! Tonight will be worse. Rosie scratches at everything like shes trying to dig a whole to china. When she gets this freaked out. I think Charlie and daisy react to her nervousness. I dont blame your Mum for not going to dsil party that is a lot of people, much more than it sounds like she planned. It would make me nervous too. You are good to be going and taking fruit. A former coworker is on Keto and she has lost 50lbs. She has about 40 left to go but she looks great. keto is not a healthy way to lose weight though. I already have fatty liver and I dont want to make that worse. I have to keep my health at the forefront.

Mornin' Christine... Just in from an early (?) morning swim with Eden! About 40 minutes for her - 20 for me! LOL Temp has gone DOWN this week, thanks to gray skies and rain... but sun is already shining so hoping it warms back up! LOL I know it won't go back up 10 degrees in a day - a lot like my weight won't go DOWN 10# in a week! LOL
Nope - no swimming last night, was plenty warm enough - but rain and the threat of Thunder.
Ahhh, yes... HOW to deal with gathering with folks you cannot be sure have been following "restrictions"? QUESTION IF THE DAY! I have admit, our gatherings - while pretty much just family - most have been working every day throughout - so any one could potentially be a "carrier". I just can't not get together! So we all know the "risk", and to be honest my elderly aunt, had not joined until FD for the first 2 birthdays! She, however, has NOT been as "isolated" as she was the month of April and most of May! She and her 1 friend seem to have to go SOMEWHERE almost every day - so IF she gets sick, it won't necessarily be from "us"! Please don't think I am taking it lightly that any one of us could become sick... but we have to keep some things as normal as we can. We will be a group of 13 today, the same 13 we were on Father's Day. OH, and I know most of us are following the mask rules - as when we go to work, we have no option! I "trust" that we are taking other precautions as well. Glad your Mom opted out of the gathering today - no point being ther and being uncomfortable! Hope you enjoyed your walk and found the fresh fruits you need for your salad!
Gabrielle: I so agree... I may not LIKE wearing a mask, but being asked to wear one is certainly not losing my freedoms! LOL Sounds like it was for the best that you stayed home this weekend... no need to go looking for trouble! Besides a nice ride in your new car will be a WONDERFUL way to celebrate with Ed ♥
Yes, just the three of them, Zoë, Tracy and Ken & I... we were able to sit and visit... we also gave them their checks from "Gramma Hall" - Tracy had an idea (she lives here, heard us talking), but Tim & Jaclyn were totally shocked... and appreciative... they need some things done at their house too, so this will go a long way in helping with that! We will try to steal Patti away from the "crowd" today to give her hers. This morning is nice too... just simple and quiet - took Eden swimming, Zoë is still sleeping! They also "help themselves", so I don't need to cook or serve them!
LOL Me either - no bathroom, is a hard NO for me!
Sue: UH OH... hoping everything is OK with Kellen... I can only assume something happened with him, if you only have Jackson?
Jo: Sorry the dogs woke you early - send the heat North GF... share it please! Neat idea for produce box to be delivered!
{{{hugs}}} to you - sorry your DM fell! I love that she was bowling to begin with! Yikes, scary for her and your DS... glad she was well enough to not be admitted!

Jo: Oh yes girls LOVE Frozen and Frozen II - they saw it in the theater when it was first released. I think we are looking at the Jersey Shore. Since NJ is one of the OK TO TRAVEL TO States... it would be nice to get that FAR away, maybe?
Good for you getting those walks/dot... I am at 2 out of 10 so far today. Need to figure out how to track my 20 minutes in the pool! LOL
LOL Sorry - had to razz you a little for watching TV while working! I know, I was able to have TV on when I was working from home too...
Yes working on our health is more important than losing huge amounts of weigh - BTW I.WANT.BOTH.! But I know patience will pay off! Friday WI was OK... lost all I had gained during the week - no more, but WI was the exact same as last Friday - can't complain about that!
OK Ladies - need to get moving here... veggies won't prep themselves!! Ken has started, and I know it's early yet - but we have no idea what time others will arrive.
I posted a pic on FB of Eden in the pool - so figured my sisters would be up shortly after they saw that! LOL They are (surprisingly) not here yet! WHEW!
Might CBL - who knows how this day will go! Oh apparently my sister told Eden they could stay here LATE tonight, since it's the weekend... so they can stay for a fire and to see the lunar eclipse! Ummm, thinking she should have told the parents - or the hosts, before telling a 6 year old!! Going to have to see how THAT plays out today/tonight! Not.My.Problem.! LOL♥hugs♥

Morning all....Jackson enjoyed his waffles, went out and picked some raspberries with Grandpa and then left to head to the house. DB Jim called to wish me Happy Birthday...he had left a message on my birthday and yesterday I didn't get a hold of them, apparently they were visiting with Annie's mom for the day!
OK....quick update on why we had Jackson overnight!! Picnic was great, pretty much only family, Sarah & us, Lincoln/Beya and Bethany.....everyone kept their distance and I was very comfortable with everything. Fireworks were fun and despite a 5 minute "rain delay" for a few sprinkles that only sent us under the big maple tree to stay dry it was a fun night. Sarah unfortunately had a bit too much to drink and since she was home alone with Jackson we didn't feel she was in any shape to be "in charge" so we brought him home with us. Tracy promised me she would see Sarah got some more water and got to bed. Needless to say Sarah was NOT happy and said some really hurtful things to me when we left and then she called and continued, so I just hung up on her! It was not a positive end to a fun evening and hopefully today after she "slept it off" she will understand but for now, I'm just keeping my distance!! Enough of that...Jackson had a fun night here and was the "prince" for the morning!!
Oh...Colton's team is doing pretty well this weekend....the tournament they were supposed to be at in GA was cancelled and in PA that is one of the "hot spot" states so quarantine would be needed upon return!! They had the opportunity to actually go back to the same complex as last weekend and play in the tournament for free because they had to play an age group up....there were only 2 other 12U teams so they gave those teams and the Royals the opportunity to play up against the 13U teams and for free!! The coach encouraged the boys to understand that they will likely NOT do well against the upper level but still it was a wonderful opportunity for experience. Well, surprisingly they are holding their own and doing better than anyone expected!! They are getting a good look at the "jump in caliber" of play in the next bracket....quite the learning weekend!! Proud of those kids!! Go Royals!!
Carole...thanks for starting us off this morning...had to smile at the picture of Eden getting her "before breakfast" swim!! She really is a "fish" isn't she?? I had a pretty restless night of sleep and was up at 6:45...Jason got up about 7:45 and Jackson slept in until almost 8:30....it was a late night and he was out cold!! Yes, 6:15 is MUCH better than your usual 4:30am. WOW, Eden is usually the early riser in the house!!! Was it a late night for her???
Christine....Happy 4th to you as well!! Yes....my 60th snuck up on me!!! Doesn't take long!!! Seems like I was just 50 and another decade has flown by!! Picnic was last night and my Asian Salad was a huge hit!!! It makes a lot and fills the GIANT Tupperware bowl (the one that is bigger than the standard set of 3)....what I brought home barely filled the smallest Tupperware bowl in the set. Will be anxious to hear if DSIL is still doing her KETO diet.....if so, it doesn't sound like she's following it as strictly as she had been.... Sorry the plans for a small "family" get together at DSIL is now involving "outsiders"....I think I would feel uncomfortable too. The nice thing about last night was that all the people there were family, family that helps with the care of Mason so we know that they are being very cautious and I noticed a few masks in pockets so people were prepared and very conscious of the distancing. The only "outsider" was Mason's nurse and family and she has to be tested weekly for COVID-19 because she works in clients' homes with special needs children and adults.....all with compromised immune systems. Glad your DM has opted out of the situation in light of the increasing cases and Linds too is opting for a more intimate setting with friends. Yes, I'm sure the pool deck is not huge and social distancing will be tough....maybe you can move to the lawn or some place a bit farther from the "crowd"!! Hopefully the gathering won't be too stressed!
LOL Christine...yes the fireworks were everywhere last night too...Otis was NOT impressed at all!! Glad they don't seem to bother Colby Girl..... I can't imagine how the veterans feel as all the blast go off around them...while they know in their heads that it's just "fireworks" the sounds have to bring back those feeling of terror and uncertainty that combat left etched in their brains!! My heart goes out to them....

Gabrielle...glad your "warmer" is not the HOT of July...when I talked to DB Jim earlier he said that it was to be over 100° today in San Antonio. They were planning to head to the complex pool for a swim and since they only let 50 people in at a time they wanted to go early and hopefully get more than an hour to enjoy it....once they hit the 50 person limit, they set a 1 hour limit on each person so when they sign in they are on a list and once 50 is hit the "timer starts" and after 1 hour the people on the list are asked to leave to make room for others to come in. AMEN....masks have nothing to do with our independence and today we need to celebrate all the freedom we truly have because of the country we call home. Hopefully people can set politics aside for the day and realize how lucky we all are to live here!!
On a side note...it was amazing chatting to Jim today and his mindset that the virus is a hoax and just Fauci and CDC's way of controlling the people....Sometimes he is so hard to deal with, I just let things go in one ear and out the other.....he really doesn't feel the need to "do his part" as masks are stupid and this virus is just "fake news"!! OYE....how can we be from the same gene pool???
Yes...steamed crabs for my birthday!! Usually Jason brings home steamed shrimp but since it was my 60th he splurged and got MD crabs....they are kind of pricey so it was truly extra special and I enjoyed every bite!! I plan to have one of the left over burgers today too....got to have "cookout" food on the 4th!!
Speaking of food...I did very well last night with food/drink and was proud of my restraint!! I enjoyed a couple pieces of roasted red potatoes, a BBQ chicken thigh, 1 ear of corn which was actually 1/2 an ear (it's early here for corn so it's really expensive still so Jamie cut each ear in 1/2 so everyone could enjoy some) plus a huge pile of my salad.....no chips, no dips, no snacks! I had one small piece of the ice cream cake made with ice cream sandwiches just to "taste it"!! I "nursed" 2 IPA's from 5:00 - 10:30pm with water in between....all in all a successful picnic for me!!
Yes Gabrielle....I do love the variety of options on Disney +.....we have always love the Disney Nature movies and now I can see some of the ones I missed along the way!!
Carole...yes, there are a bunch of July birthdays on the thread..... You will love Pigeon Forge!! Have a ever been?? Right now TN is NOT a state you can travel to if you live in PA....it's on the list of 19 "hot states"!! I'm ready for this to all settle down so we can move about as we please!! I'm not in "fear" of COVID either but I will say that people, even in small groups, w/o regard for social distancing make me a bit uneasy. You can still carry on a conversation with someone with 6' between you....makes me especially uneasy when I know that co-workers really haven't take all the precautions seriously from the beginning and just live their lives as if the virus doesn't exist. Common sense and basic safety/healthy practices are gone....
