Good morning friends. Another holiday has come and gone. We enjoyed our day and night in the screen room. The moon was beautiful. Town did have a firework display and we were able to see a few of them. It all stopped at around 10:00 so that wasn't too bad. Luckily for us, miss LuLa isn't bothered by the noise.
Today I shall hit reset button. Our meal was delightful. Enjoyed each and every baby rib and mouthful of mac and cheese. We had fresh fruit for dessert which was very refreshing.
My soup is cooling on the counter. I'll put that in bowls and store it in the fridge in a bit.
My foot is feeling better. I'll walk when I can and rest when I can. I think playing the 'balancing act' is the best approach.

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
Happy Sunday!! I had to check with my computer to be sure what day it is <LOL> It certainly doesn't feel like a Sunday.
Ann ~ I think you have a great idea .... I think tomorrow I will put on a pot of my WW Chili recipe that is 0 SP and then package it in serving sizes. It will make for a great lunch option, especially with hitting the reset button seriously. I have all the ingredients downstairs, so there is nothing to keep me from it.
We had a fabulous supper! Once again, I divided the "2 servings" of mac 'n cheese into FOUR and put two aside. I really enjoy the taste of it, but don't see the need for a whole cup serving. Funny how when you eat reasonably for years, it becomes a habit. The ribs came out perfect. I brushed them with Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ Sauce and slid them under the broiler for about 5 minutes. The Famous Dave's rub really made a difference, as did the fact that I cooked them in Diet Coke instead of water. Now I know why I never did ribs before I got my IP, and I will never do them any other way.
We tried watching a bit of TV, but both got tired and ended up going to bed by 8 o'clock. I dozed off and on the first couple of hours, but never felt enough energy to get back up. From our usual bedtime I slept well until this morning. We woke up early, but I guess that happens when you go to bed SO early!
It was cool this morning (mid-60's) so I opened all the doors and windows to let in some fresh air. I really don't care for the house being closed up day and night, day after day, but this heat wave is demanding it. So a few hours in the early morning really helps to freshen the indoor air.
We have had a light breakfast of HB egg and half a banana and one slice of toast (Dave's for me). It was just enough since I felt like we ate a bit heavy yesterday evening. We are going out for lunch when DH gets back from running his errands, and then we'll decide what to have for supper. We have leftover chicken leg/thighs, krab, hot dogs and ribs all in the fridge so we're probably set for most of the week.
This morning I need to do a few things around here and I want to do some dead-heading to the petunias on the patio - but while it is still cool. I waited so long to pick my book back up that I decided to start over so I did that last night. I hate when I do that!! But I'll enjoy it this time as much this time around.
BBL. Make a great day!!

Hi all,
We wound up having a pleasant day yesterday. Still a bit sad without family, but it was okay all in all. We took a drive to Falmouth to see our good friends’ beautiful new condo . We only stayed about 15 minutes and all wore masks. It’s so airy and spacious and beautifully decorated. I’m so happy for them as they plan to retire there. Then we drove by some favorite beaches and I was amazed at how crowded they were! No thanks! Then we came home, and I read for a bit in the patio under the umbrella and took a nice swim in our bay. We cooked our dinner and each had a bowl of Hagen Daz ice cream topped with local fresh and sweet strawberries. The usual huge display of elaborate fireworks over the bay went on for about two hours. They are spectacular, but after a while, it’s enough. The dogs get so anxious. We watched a few episodes of our show and went to bed late. We slept in until 830.
Thanks for all your good thoughts and prayers in DD. Sue, it’s just beyond appalling. He sends her such conflicting texts constantly telling her they need to be together one minute with all this flowery crazy language and the next one is telling her she’ll wind up homeless. To say he is unstable is putting it mildly. I do wish we were near her. We are grateful she has friends and some support. It’s shocking that he would wind up being this kind of person.

Happy to say that my meal yesterday added a mere .9! Should have been more and for that I'm grateful. Sue you amaze me that you can stop at a smaller portion of mac and cheese. Not the case with me...when I see pasta of any shape form or sauce (gravy LOL) my eyes 'light up' I compensate for it in other ways and that works out for me. Enjoy making your chili. The other day I made a very quick and easy chili and it was tasty. I had leftover chicken so added that a ran of rotel a can of black beans and kidney beans cumin Mexican corn onion and a little garlic and a can of fire roasted tomatoes. Threw it all in the crock pot and let it heat and let the flavors mesh together. We really enjoyed it. I still have some in the fridge for lunch. So happy that you enjoyed your ribs. I used to cook with diet soda but was told that aspartame heated causes 'problems' with some people. Especially with radiation involved. I was told by my first oncologist to avoid doing that and also to avoid cool whip! I never really asked questions as he was a very thorough doctor. Just passing on information to take with a grain of salt I'm all planned and tracked for today. Supper will be chicken nuggets and air fries, lunch will be a bowl of my veggie bean soup with a side salad with evoo and balsamic vinegar and grated cheese on top, and breakfast was a veggie cheese omelet with a slice of WW toast. For a snack, I still have some of the fresh fruit all cut up and ready...I'll add that to my FF Greek yogurt and top it with a few roasted almonds. LOL I wish I had a dime for each and every time I had to hit restart on a book!!!!! I will always try to remember...but when I find I'm simply reading 'words' it's time to go back and start again. Whenever I do that, I'm amazed at what I missed first time around, so it's all good. We went to bed later than normal last night and slept well. Right now Carl is out cutting our neighbors lawn and she has some brush that she wants taken down in back of her home. I told him to remember to PACE HIMSELF....but I think that fell on 'deaf ears'. I'll know when he comes home. Judy I am over the top in amazement that your SIL can be such a $ T head!!!!!! I pray for him that he sees the light of his actions and for your daughter and children you and your DH daily!!!!! So happy that you got to visit with friends in a nice safe way. Oh I bet the fireworks were spectacular over the water. I remember in another lifetime Carl and I owned a pontoon boat and had it docked on Webster Lake.....we rented a cottage over the 4th of July and took it out to see the fireworks. It was amazing......best firework display I've ever seen and every year we have fun talking about it in a very fond way. What series are you and DH watching? My dryer just went off...time for me to fold clothes. Waving to Pam and will CBL in the day.

Judy ~ Did you say before that DSIL is bipolar (or something)? He certainly exhibits signs of it with the mood swings. Is this new? Or just exacerbated? How very upsetting for your DD – not to mention the poor kiddos!! Glad you got to enjoy your holiday. We’re all learning to make do with what we have, I guess. I got texts from all three of DH’s VBF’s kids yesterday and one bemoaning the fact that it was their dad’s favorite holiday (they always spent it with him Up North). I knew it would be an especially hard day for them. Seems we all have our own challenges and if we stick together we can muddle our way through.
Ann ~ I never heard that about Diet Coke?? I first used it in a WW recipe for pork loin in the crockpot (mixed with Ketchup) years ago. We always liked it. You mentioned radiation …. I didn’t use any of that as I cooked the ribs in the Instant Pot. It had to be ‘diet’ because that was all I had in the house. I may get a bottle of apple juice for next time?? Or root beer (which comes highly recommended as well). I can understand about the pasta because I also LOVE it!! But there are some things that I can do in moderation. Given enough time I may be able to add to that list <LOL> Meanwhile, I have tricked myself with the fact that now I can have it a second time this week. It really is a mind game, isn’t it??
DH and I went out for a Sunday lunch and had the best salad EVER!! It was a Oriental Chicken Salad and it was huge and delicious!! I wish I had had a camera handy when the gal sat them down and DH looked at it!! Given that over half of it was lettuce (which is mostly water) but with chicken chunks and mandarin oranges and sliced almonds and Chinese noodles and an Oriental dressing we don’t think it did us any harm; but it was quite a feast!!
Unfortunately the restaurant gradually filled up while we were there (and state mandate is 50%) and we only saw 2 people besides us with masks. The employees had them, but customers were flocking in without them. I guess you can pass executive orders all you want, but you can’t make people follow them. We saw families complete with young children totally unprotected. I just don’t get it! Then when school starts, they will expect us to teach the kids how to stay safe. What’s wrong with the parents starting now?? DUH!! People never cease to amaze me. But all we can do is take care of ourselves and each other, so we march onward.
DH has gone to Kroger for our fruits and vegetables for this week, then we have the rest of the day to relax. According to our weather, this 90+ dg heat spell will last all week. The first time I see a high in the 80’s is a week from tomorrow. Then it doesn’t drop much, so we’re in no danger of getting cold <LOL>

Sue I was a HUGE fan of using the cake mixes with a can of diet soda. In conversation I happened to mention that to my oncologist and he said to ever heat up diet soda with aspartame in it. Who knew? ? He was such a wonderful physician and I was very sorry to see him leave. I went to him for 4.5 years of the 5 year period. His replacement was so so and my other oncologist when I switched surgeons and hospitals was better...but nothing like my first one. Funny how certain people stand out in your mind. I use low sugar apple juice for a lot of things. In fact, I like to inject apple juice in chicken before cooking it on the grille as it gives it a nice flavor and keeps it very moist. Back to radiation, I had radiation 37 treatments the first time I had my breast cancer. Went once a week to the oncologist and surgeon then it was cut down to once a month...then every three months for the first 5 years....that was due to the fact that I was on medication. The other breast cancers were not like that...then I had the mastectomy and the rest is history....... Your Oriental salad sounded delish. Too bad that it was not fully enjoyed due to people that just. don't. care. In my opinion. I still don't GET what the big deal is to wear a mask!!!! Okay...getting off my soap box now.... Our temperature here is horrible. It's reading 92 in the shade under our carport!!!! I only took a very short walk earlier with LuLa and will take her out to walk once the sun sets. She's fine with going out in the back yard for now. I'll be happy when this weather breaks...but like your weather, it's not going to be anytime soon! Awesome that DH went to replenish the fruits and veggies for the week. We are all set until perhaps Thursday..... Back to my book.
