Day 6 – Find a Diet Coach
Support is an important part of our success at this. Beck advocates us getting a diet coach to support us with help and encouragement through our journey. Today’s assignment is to get you a diet coach.
A diet coach will:
Keep you motivated.
Build your self-confidence.
Help you to solve problems.
Keep you accountable.
Help you take a more useful perspective.
Sources for diet coaches:
A close friend or family member.
Do the Beck book with someone.
Join an organized group.
Find a diet professional.
Investigate internet support.
Beck suggests you discuss things at least weekly with your coach, initiate more communication when you have problems, and contact daily if you are really struggling.
If you have a diet coach, tell us about it, if you don’t tell us who you might get as a coach.

My diet coaches are the members of my WW meeting and my three online support groups. This has worked out well for me. It is good to have someone with which to discuss weight management issues.

I like help from a diet coach. I plan on checking in weekly with my friend, post here and confer with my husband who’s also motivated to lose weight.

Mine are my online WW & ITB groups
This time, though, my sister and I are buddies and coaching, supporting, commiserating and cheering one another along.

I'm down to you guys and the GDT Becksters. DH is pretty good, although I feel like I give him more coaching than receive it.

My coaches would be:
* My WW VM with coach and members who join the meeting which is vertual right now, maybe class later.
* Pro Boards support, read and post.
* 2 online Mayo Clinic newsletters received daily on healthy diet and nutrition.
* Mayo Clinic Connect where I can join various health groups to post and share ideas.

My coaches are this group, and a friend of mine whom I check in with.
ETA: As my coaches, I need to come clean about yesterday...Husband's birthday, he wanted pizza so we got a pizza, and I ate 4 slices because it was THAT good. Now, if I'd skipped lunch it wouldn't have been that bad but I ate lunch so... I also has 1/4 of his birthday brownie. BUT, the good thing is that I tracked ALL of it, and since I follow the Wendy/Maggie plan of staggering my WPs throughout the week, and since Friday is my Super High Points day (15-20 WPs to use up), I was under by 5 DPs Friday, and on Saturday I went over by 4, so I'm looking at my SHP day as Sunday and I went over by 21 points and a SHP day I can go over up to 20. So I am intentionally trimming things down this week to see if I can compensate for this one day overage, and end up at least maintaining on Friday's WI. It's a test to see if I can compensate because that has been one of my STs in the past. We'll see!
