Whether you are regular poster or a lurker, we encourage you to talk with us. We do talk about books, but also about our lives, and Weight Watchers. We are women who are spread around the country, and eventually you will learn you we are, and what books we like to read. Don't be intimidated, just pop in and tell us who you are, and what you are reading now.
This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year old board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

Good morning. Hot again today, but storms later expected, then the temps will go down to the 80's.
Marsha, your DH not walking with you is how it goes with us. DH will walk with me maybe once a year. I have totally given up on getting him to do any sort of physical activity. I bought the Almond milk yesterday and had a glass and liked it. And it worked out very well in the banana bread recipe. For coffee I use the liquid coffee creamer that is sugar free, and depending on which program I am using, that is 0 points. That storm you got the other day, we never got. I was so hoping for it, but it came up from Appleton and stayed south east of us. I guess there are storms all around this morning, but not by us, again! I watered the plants twice yesterday, and most likely again today, as I do not have much hope that we will get the storms they are predicting for later.
Gareth, I know what you mean about not cooling down. After tonight tho, it is supposed to cool off a bit here, going to the 80's. Will you have that luck? It seems there are way too many series books out there! To me it is annoying. 5 weeks? My goodness, my hair sure is not growing!!! And I can see where it has thinned some more. Sure glad I bought that wig!!!
Carol, about thrift stores, I know when one of them that I go to every so often gets full they post on FB that they are not taking donations. So it is a good idea to call. Otherwise around here they are all open. I just don't get people not wearing a mask. There are so many of them out there now, there just isn't an excuse not to wear them. The funny thing about them is, last week we went to the grocery store I used to work at, and the store manager was in an aisle we were coming down, and as we walked by him, I said hi. He said hi back, but I know he did not recognize me! I had my wig on and mask, so it would have been hard. Ha! I got a kick out of that.
Anngie, I ended up buying almond milk. I really went out on a limb buying it, but then I tried it when I got home, and it is pretty good. I scanned it into my Itrackbites app and it comes up as 1 pt. I bought the unsweetened kind. One of the reasons I quit drinking milk way back in the day was that the skim milk was 2 points. I know, stupid reason, but that is me. No, our DF would not move here, according to DH, he thinks she is prepared to live her life out there. I truly believe she has dementia, mild, but still dementia. I have done the curb side pick up, at WM. Last year I did it, and they were great! Then I tried it once when we were in the middle of the lockdown, and as with other stores that I did curb side, there were things missing from my order. So I decided to go back into the stores; I felt that if whatever was on my list was missing, I could substitute it with something else. With curb side I did not have that option, I simply did not get anything remotely like what I ordered. So if your WM is fully stocked, I would do the curb side.
Robin, I hope your day today is not too crazy! About all those appliances, I kind of regret ordering the indoor grill, but we do use it quite a bit. The air fryer we could have done without, in the long run, but I do like having it, just in case. I think I don't use it to it's full potential. How is Maddie doing? You are very stingy with your updates about her, lol!!!! Have you seen her lately?
Not much going on here, trying to get some walking in, but I must have pulled a muscle in the upper part of my leg, as there is a lot of pain, and it is hard to put that on the heating pad. DH scared me with saying it might be a blood clot, (he is the king of blood clots!) but we decided that it was not that, as I am not in pain when I am not using the leg.
Have a nice day everyone.

Yes rice in the instant pot. I don't, though, because dh likes the converted rice. regular rice comes out too sticky for him. But sometimes I make a rice dish in the instant pot (like jambalaya) and use regular rice.
Just heard this morning that a coworker tested positive. He came in at 6am Monday because the plant manager is on vacation and so he is the next line manager but he "had a cold" so by the time Boss got here he was sent home. I saw him for about 5 minutes before he left. I don't think I was exposed as I didn't get close to him but I'm going for a test. In the lottery of who here at work will be first, I would not have picked him. He lives alone. He doesn't really socialize much even not during a pandemic. He goes to the grocery store and Home Depot and here and that's about it. So maybe one of our plant guys was/is an asymptomatic carrier. I don't know. So now the people who did have direct contact with him have been sent home and will go for tests. Boss just left to get a test. I have an appointment this afternoon. Boss and I are wearing masks when we meet and other than that I'm staying in my office where I am effectively isolated from everyone. When I use the bathroom I will bring the isoprorpyl with me and wipe everything down but that's really unnecessary because the only other female here was sent home.
I like book series'. I like knowing that there is another reliably good read coming.

Busy morning again like my mornings usually are. First thing I went to WM. The forecast last night was for rain this morning so I'm glad that's now forecast for later this afternoon. The earlier I can go to WM the better. Now if they just weren't always out of something I wanted. I picked up vitamins for DH and putting them away saw that I had gotten women's instead of for men. How often I do things like that. I'm always in a hurry and grabbed the wrong thing. Now I'll have to exchange it next trip. I hate making returns. After groceries were put away and before breakfast I got some walking in. Indoors because by then it was already in the 80's.
DH's umbilical hernia surgery is scheduled for the 20th. The 18th he has to have a covid test and then isolate until surgery. Does that mean isolate from me too? I'm surprised that it's just a local anesthetic since when DS had his the first of the year he was put under. His was more involved though than the surgeon had anticipated so it lasted over two hours. DH's will be around 45 minutes unless it ends up being like DS's which I sure hope not. I'm not looking forward to it since DH isn't the best patient and I'm not the best nurse. Hoping it's like the Dr predicts and he's back to work in 1-2 weeks.
Karen, I love our indoor grill and don't miss our gas grill at all. I use my air fryer a lot. Veggies especially is so good air fried. Air frying makes the best bacon too.
Robin, there's a new selection every month of free books that I can get from Audible. Some months none interest me. This month there were two I got.
Marsha, I've got have my ice cream every week. I plan for it and look forward to it every week like I do with pizza too.
Anngie, I'm too picky about groceries especially produce that I've never ordered online from WM or anywhere else. I've heard too many stories too about substitutions they make. One being a friend had carrots subbed for strawberries!
Carol, I've never had a desire to get an instapot. I do love my crockpot though.
Pinky, hope you're doing well!

Marsha, thanks for the yogurt recipe and info about the Instapot. DD and DSIL have one and they like it. DS and DDIL have an air fryer and use it quite often. My crock-pot is old. I got it not too long after we got married. It has just high, low and off.
Karen, your friend with dementia, does she have family? I'm sure you told us, but I can't remember. My MIL lived by herself for a while after FIL died. She had Home Instead come it to help with the house and meals. We were the closet to her and we were about 6 or so hours away, but DH went up often. He could tell she was having memory problems, but she would just shut down if he brought up moving. There were 2 incidents that made it clear she shouldn't be by herself. The last one was calling 911 to take her to the hospital, but when she got there she couldn't remember why. Also, no one knew she had done this until the Home Instead person came and couldn't find her. We finally called the hospital and found her. It was clear to everyone then that she shouldn't be by herself so that is when she went to a nursing home. She was there for almost 2 years, I think, before she died.
It seems to me that Walmart is always out of something I want and won't have it for several weeks and then it shows up again. They had pretzels covered in dark chocolate that were wonderful and now for the past 3 weeks that haven't been there. I keep thinking I will try on-line ordering and pick-up, but haven't yet.
It is very hot here. This weekend it should get up to 102. Right now it is 91 and feels like 103. I got hot just putting my groceries in my trunk.

It's pretty crazy here today, but I am stopping for a lunch break, it's 2:15. Left overs from last night. I had stuffed portobello mushrooms with a meatloaf type mix, I had 4, we only ate 2, so I brought the others to the office. Probably too big a lunch, and I am not sure what dinner is going to be.
Gareth, my DH needed a COVID test before his last set of shots in his spine. They may have told him to isolate, but that was not from me.
Carol, that is quite a trip for your DH to have made regularly. It's sad when someone ends up with dementia.
Marsha, I certainly hope you test negative. You cannot be too careful.
Karen, did you hear about the woman who went to the supermarket with her husband with masks on and she came home with the wrong husband? Actually, that's an olde joke already. I saw someone very early on at the supermarket. He is a guy with long hair, which was the only way I would have recognized him.
I am probably going to play mah jongg with my friends tonight. I thought I might be cleaning, and skip it, or come in late, but today has been too tiring a day for that.
