Good Morning ~ FINALLY Friday!! Sue - thank you for kicking us off today! Good luck getting through this last crazy day - at least next week there will be 3 of you? and you get to be the helper! Have fun at Paint Nite tonight! Carole - I'm thinking you are already out the door of the Hotel and driving Tracy to her surgery. Hope the weather is decent your way and you can enjoy this day of a little R & R while waiting. We are thinking of you!! Tonight after work is Cheryl's Surprise 70th Birthday Party - her DDIL has been planning this since March!! We are going to meet at the DDIL's house at 5:30 - Elaine, Kiersten and yes, even our former CEO will be part of the guests - it will be fun to see everyone - and the remainder guest list is family - Cheryl has 4 sons and 3 live in our area. Cheryl mentioned to me yesterday that she was heading over to this son's house for a Family cookout - she was tired from the heat but looking forward to seeing all her grandkids in one place SURPRISE! I made a Broccoli Salad to bring tonight - hope to head home by 8:00 when the thunderstorms are forecast to begin.... I'll have more time tomorrow morning! Enjoy this Friday and make the most of this day!

Sitting here waiting for the Covid test... If we get it soon, we will head back to the hotel. That trip she will take the hotel shuttle so it's one less "trip". Not gonna lie ladies, it's going to be a long day. I am glad I came this trip to help me find my way later. This hospital is in a very rural setting! Hmm tried to upload a photo, but I got a screen to pay to post it. What? ? Maybe try later...

Good morning!
WOW, what a week---and it's not over yet. SO glad that tomorrow is Saturday. It has been super hot here (typical July)-- 100's every day and it will be that way for at least another week. At least it's not humid....but, unfortunately, on the news they were discussing reasons why they would have to shut off our power for days if the conditions could lead to a fire...now THAT would be miserable---no electricity for days and 100 degrees? Uggh. I choose not to think about it! I can't believe that I missed a few days...happy to be checking in now.
Carole: So, it's about 10:00 there and I imagine you are either sitting in the hotel or walking somewhere in the neighborhood? I am kicking myself for not taking a closer look at where you are staying and asking DS26 and his GF for ideas of things for you to do...you are near where they used to live and those two were definitely explorers of the area. At least the walking outside might feel good? I was reading about the anxiety of checking out of the hotel, etc. I have found that I think I get more anxious about new things as I get older. Anymore, I find myself trying to laugh as I ask someone one more time how to do something or admit that it's my first time....people want to help! I think that they like helping actually....so, maybe give it a try? Once we were lost and stopped at a gas station in a sketchy area of Los Angeles. I went into the station (store) and there were some kind of scary looking guys working the counter. I actually approached them, laughing at myself, and told them I had no idea where we were and asked if they could help. Let me tell you, they turned out to be so nice and helpful---I do think that people like to feel like they can help. Give it a try! I am thinking about you now (I did as soon as I woke up, actually) and will continue to do so....hoping that things follow the schedule as you planned and that, at this time tomorrow, you are safely home with the girls nearby and Tracy resting comfortably at home. So glad that your work got caught up..what a relief! Hugs to you, my friend.

Sue: Wow, another week of work? Great! I wonder what position will open when they fill the one you were considering? Could be just right! Hey, we both know that you may never get an apology or acknowledgement from Sarah, right? Sometimes I think that we just need to move on --- part of being family is that we just do things without expecting things in return (even when the kids get angry Sounds like it is moving forward--glad for that. I have to say, it will be LONG time before I am crammed in a movie theater! There are too many other ways to see a movie I haven't seen before. I know that some are fine with it--thankful for that for the business' sake. Hope that you have a good day!
Christine: Is next Monday one of your days off? Oh, a three day weekend would be wonderful! So, did you get the attendance tracking figured out? Here in CA, our "micromanaging" legislature added a list of what we MUST do if we offer distance learning at any time for students. It is a list of what we must track, etc. and it is in our current LAWS now! Sheesh. Anyway, we are all putting it together now to have a system for tracking. So, years ago I attended a conference and went to a session about the best ways to group students to meet academic needs. It was about how, at certain times of the day for certain subject areas, you can maximize the opportunity for small group instruction. Part of it was a presentation on the research as to what subject areas were best to address this way for whichever grade levels. Their suggestion: Focus on reading and small groups for K-3, focus more on math in small groups for grades 4-6. I find it interesting that you said that the teachers in the higher grades were not seeming to use fluency info that much...kind of aligns with what this group presented (if they have math on the forefront of their mind)....interesting! Hope that you have a good day today (sorry about the weather though). Any chance you'll get on the water this weekend? That would be nice!
Jenny: How great that your company takes care of training the newbies! And it sounds like you have a great group of experienced people to do it! I just love that you drove one of the trucks---you have so much good experience! I will figure out the Zoom....maybe late Sunday?
Shelly: I hope that you are having a good week with family, getting out of work at a decent time, and ready for the road trip! So happy for you!
Okay girls, time to face reality and get this show on the road. Busy day today, but hoping that it all feels productive. I will see you early tomorrow!

How about a Zoom call on Sunday? Maybe at about 1:30 pm here in the West coast---that would be 4:30 pm for the ladies on the East coast and 3:30 if or Lisa want to join? I think? Let me know!

Oh ladies what a day. Left the hotel for Covid test, our side of the road was closed. Manhole fire had us kind of stranded. So we made a loop around the block, still came out on the closed stretch of our street. So we drove the wrong way, on the one way street to get to the officer blocking it. He very kindly moved a barrel and directed us into traffic. Got the Covid test and headed back to the hotel. Same officer had to move the same barrel so we could get back in. I know it's his job, not our fault they closed us in...but I felt bad.
Just around 8 am we lost power in the hotel. Can you even believe my luck??? Tracy took the shuttle back to the hospital and I stayed put. Finally decided to shower and head out, on foot, to see what was what. However, in the middle of my shower I remembered I couldn't dry my hair! Ugh...it seriously looked better after sleeping than after a shower. So after getting dressed, I packed up. Wanted to get to the hospital...
I figured I'd pack the car, then see if the road was open. It was, so I checked out and left. With no power there I may as well be here in my car...at least I can listen to the radio.
I got here and parked...still no call from the nurse that said she'd call when Tracy went in to surgery, so was worried about a delay. I did get a nurse liaison number so I called her... She was in surgery, first incision made at 11:44. Hmmm, scheduled for 10:45, no cut until an hour later? So she said hour and a half is the plan, but I can call as often as I want. It has only been 45 minutes so I have not called back yet🤔
I did take a 20 minute walk around the neighborhood...just houses and apartments in my almost mile loop.
Nothing to see here folks😅
Anyway, now I am standing under some trees in the shade, nice breeze every now and then too. It is hot here today, but I love it...except my hair is a mess, between no hair dryer and now sweaty.😕
Now I am heading back into the parking lot, but will go inside to use the restroom...had to cool down after my walk, since they may take my temp. LOL
I will be in touch...
