Whether you are regular poster or a lurker, we encourage you to talk with us. We do talk about books, but also about our lives, and Weight Watchers. We are women who are spread around the country, and eventually you will learn you we are, and what books we like to read. Don't be intimidated, just pop in and tell us who you are, and what you are reading now.
This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year old board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

Good morning. Another pure blue sky this morning, with a very nice day predicted, 80 for a high. Looking at tomorrow, they are saying heavy rain, so need to enjoy today.
Robin, about Imperfect Foods, do I understand that you can get coffee from them also? If so, that is another thing I did not know you could get from them. I have not heard of Sun Basket...is that just local? Is your eating plan hard to do? I would think so. For the covid test on our health account, there were 9 questions, and we answered all no, except for 2 questions, so I was surprised they said we could get the test, and since they had some openings yesterday morning, we went right away, to get done with it. How was Maddie? Did you have a great time with her? I bet she has gotten so big already!!
Gareth, no I could not either, imagine 90 mph winds. Those would be so damaging! The rain you got Saturday didn't come up here, which is nice, since we do need to dry out. Supposedly we are to get heavy rains tomorrow sometime, I haven't watched the whole weather forecast yet. Gee, what is it about July??? If I figure correctly, that says the month of October is the month of love....hmmm, all I see in October is Halloween, lol!!! Did you see the little post I left on yesterday's thread? Thank you for speaking up!!
Carol, are you supposed to have that extreme heat for very long? Good for your DH! 3 bottles of water is a good amount. I have that problem sometimes with the books I have. Did you find something on Overdrive? Sometimes that does not have what I am looking for either. So much of what they have has to be held. Speaking of church, I have gotten in the habit of going to the grocery store I used to work at, on Sunday mornings, and I go by a church that is pretty good sized. For a long time, during the pandemic, they were doing online services, and the church was closed. The last few weeks they have been having church services, outdoors there at the property. Yesterday, I think was the most people there I have seen, since we moved here. A huge amount of people. What they did is people could set up chairs to sit, and there is a parking lot right there, so you could also choose to sit in your car. Looks like that was a big hit. I could not see if the people sitting in the chairs were wearing masks, as the speed limit is to fast to see that.
Hi to Anngie, Pinky (miss you!!), and Marsha. Marsha, have you heard about your results yet?
After we ran to get our tests taken yesterday, we came home and tackled the balcony. It needed a good cleaning, from all the plants, and the bird feeders. DH even got the vacuum cleaner to vacuum up all the bird seed that falls on the floor of the balcony. It was such perfect weather for doing things like that outside.
DH will be gone to one of his friends house today, so as I feel pretty good now at least, I will get some cleaning done.
We are going out to eat Saturday for DH birthday, after taking everyone to see DB headstone, and I just saw we are supposed to have a temp of 92 that day!!! WHAT THE HECK??? And then 93 Sunday!!! That reminds of those days, back in 2013, (I think it was 13, could have been 12), when we were camping, and it was SO hot!!! But I still insisted on having a camp fire, lol, I was SO stupid, lol!!!
Need more coffee, have a nice day everyone!

Only 62Âş when I got up. Beautiful, sunny morning. High 80's later. I'd like to get out and walk now but I'll wait and walk with DH when he gets home. I could do two walks though but right now I'm content on the couch with my feet up! DH's birthday today. No special plans. Waiting to hear from DS what works with all their schedules to get together. We always celebrate DH and DS's birthdays together since they're so close together. DS's is Friday. Yesterday I made a special birthday meal for DH that he's been wanting. Mexican fiesta pasta salad along with turkey/cheddar sausage and air fried asparagus. Chocolate chip cookie bars for dessert.
Karen, I'm so glad you got that test. Hopefully it's negative but better to be safe than sorry. 90's for us again this weekend too.
Robin, anxious to hear all about Maddie!
Have a good day everyone!

First and foremost, my Covid test came back negative. And everyone here who got the test is also negative so far. Some have not heard anything yet. Now that we have our test results back I will go back to cooking dinner. I was happy to sleep in my own bed last night. I had been sleeping in dd’s room because dh and I usually end up facing each other while we sleep at some point so we thought best to be safe.
Big birthday month. DS is the end of the month and dfdil is right after, might be the first of August.
Karen – Prevea does testing with an appointment no referral needed. Oh I see you went. Hoping for good news. Prevea does not really require a reason for testing. Could be just because you were exposed or employer required.
Anngie – I never knew you could request someone’s military records. My dad was in the Air Force in WWII. I know he was a clerk and he was in North Africa but he never really talked about it. Funny story. When ds was little, maybe 3 or 4, he asked my father what he did during the war. My dad answered “some GI’s carried sidearms, I carried a typewriter”. DS, perfectly serious, said “what’s a typewriter”.
Gareth - happy birthday to dh.
Robin - how was Maddie?
What a beautiful weekend. I did some chores, not a ton. Yesterday I cut the back lawn. DH cut the front but he wanted to weed whack and asked me to cut the back. He weed whacked a lot of the weeds in the garden (after I pulled a ton early Saturday morning) so that's actually looking pretty good for now. I cleaned out the section of the pantry where I keep the broom and vacuum cleaner, etc. So little things got done. And reading. I am still reading The Weight of Ink and almost done. For a while in the middle it seemed a bit tedious and I almost quit but then as I got toward the end it picked up a lot and now I'm at the concluding part and I really liked it. I need to think about my next read. We started watching Hamilton last night. We made it as far as the intermission. I didn't realize how long it is. Excellent. We'll finish it tonight, then we'll go back and watch again with subtitles so we can get more of the words. I wish I could see it on stage.
Dog walked this morning. I wore a light jacket and leggings. It was cool outside. Eating yesterday was awful. I don't think I had a single actual meal. Except I guess yogurt for breakfast.

Marsha, I'm jealous about it being cool enough to need a jacket. Our forecast for the week is temps in the high 90s, high humidity and at night, the lows will be in 80s. I read something about the virus and air conditioners. If we find out, we shouldn't use our AC, Texas is screwed. We can't live without our AC.
I ordered a new phone. Mine is a 6S and had started doing strange things and not holding a charge. I've had it for 4 years. I talked with DSIL yesterday when we face-timed and he gave me his opinion. It's nice to be able to do everything on-line, especially with having to wear masks out.
Marsha, good news about your test being negative. Karen, I hope your's and your DH's get the same news.
I haven't found a book yet on Overdrive yet. I need to go on Goodreads and other sites and get some ideas.

I picked up my first online grocery order at WM and was pleasantly surprised. Because they were on special, I ordered strawberries and blueberries and wondered what I’d be getting. They were both just what I would have picked up myself. I ordered bananas too but since I like bananas slightly green and less sweet, they were more ripe than I like them. DH likes them though. The whole process couldn’t be any easier. I’ll probably order again someday but can certainly do my own shopping. This must be a god-send to those who work.
Karen, I’m glad you and DH went to be tested. Wow, you’ve got some high temps coming back your way! It’s beautiful here today, but turning hot and humid by the weekend.
Marsha, I liked your DS story! Too cute! Yes, the request can be gotten online and sent to various branches of the service. I can’t wait to see what they send, but I really don’t expect anything until fall.
Gareth, Happy Birthday to Mr. Gareth! It’ll be nice to combine his and DS day - at a restaurant or would you or he cook?
I just arranged to have my records sent from the doctor that did the cortisone to another surgeon to possibly have the cyst removed. The cortisone may have helped a little, but not much now. I at least want to talk about it with a surgeon who will do it arthroscopically and not the “old fashion way”. What a long drawn out process this is turning out to be.
Hello to Carol, Robin & Pinky!

Boss' son tested positive. This is what happens when you let your college age kids have their friends up to the cottage and spend the day on the boat together. Why did he think he was safe because they made the kids eat outdoors? What about when they all came in to go to bed? Boss has to go home and stay home for 2 weeks. He is not happy. He is currently locked in his office. I predict he will be there until mid afternoon before he finally leaves. One plant employee tested positive but he could not have gotten it from the other guy here because the one who came back positive was on vacation when the first guy was here. So he brought it back from vacation. And so it goes around and around. It is coming. Circle the wagons.

Oh yeah I guess we now have a mask policy that includes the plant. On Friday when I suggested it Boss responded that it's too hot out on the floor and he was not going to ask them to wear masks. Now I guess they can take their mask off if they are alone at the end of a machine but if they are together they must mask up.

I am so enjoying my day of being alone! I got so many chores done.
Gareth, Happy birthday to Bill!!! How did the chocolate chip cookie bars turn out, did he like that? Do you put candles on and sing Happy Birthday to him? DH and I do not do that, when it is just the two of us. I was shocked when I saw this morning, the forecast for the weekend and back into the 90's! I don't know, but for some reason I thought we were done with them for awhile, silly me!!
Marsha, YAY!! Of course we were kind of expecting you to be negative. OMG, about your Boss's son!!! I would want to kill him, if I was your Boss! And, as you say, circle the wagons.....it ain't over till the fat lady sings....and I think in our case, the fat lady will have died!!! We are with Bellin, so we went into our account with Bellin, and they have 9 questions you answer, pertaining to the virus, and we each just answered yes to two of them, so I was surprised (the 2 were just answers like, yes I have a runny nose, those types of things.) that they right away gave us times to pick to go get tested. So we picked them and went over, and was testes very fast. Get this: in my Bellin account this morning, it has a telehealth appointment scheduled for me on Wed morning! HUH? So I had DH look at his, and there was no appt. scheduled for him. So he is saying I have the virus. I called the clinic, and they told me they do that for everyone, no matter if you have it or not, and DH doctor is not in today, so that is why he was not scheduled. In the meantime, he left to go up by Oconto, to his buddies house, as his buddy is doing some welding for us. I called him and told him he should not be going, which he said he was almost there, so as he keeps a mask in his vehicle, I insisted he has to wear it. He said I am getting paranoid! I explained to him (MEN!!!) that he does not know if he is positive or not, and he does not want to give it to his friend, then his friends wife could get it also. So if he is saying that to me, after all these months of him being just like me, taking precautions and all, just imagine all those young people....look at that guy that died from it, thinking it was a hoax, and went to that stupid covid party!!!
Carol, Marsha needing a jacket was just for the early morning, which was a tad not normal for this time of year, tonight it will just get down to 65. Then moderate to 70. for overnight. I read that whole goofy story about a/c. It is just for a certain type of a/c, which is not the kind that are in houses. If you have central air, or window a/c, it is taking out the old air, which is what we need. Just keep in mind, this whole thing with covid is a crap shoot. Oh I love getting new IPhones! I have at least another year to go before I get one, enjoy!
Anngie, when I did WM curbside last year, because of my knee, out of the 3 places I did, (the other 2 were grocery stores) WM was the best. They must be getting back to normal now, since the pandemic, as I did try them once this spring, and just like the issues I had at the grocery stores curb side, there was problems with my order. I really like curb side, so maybe I will give my grocery stores another try. So you are going to get the heat too this weekend....I saw something on MSN news that the whole country was going to be baking for awhile, but did not care to read it, lol. Yes, go get that taken care of, now that you tried the shots, you know those don't really help.
I did so much cleaning, I was dripping wet with sweat, so I had to turn on the air. It is only 80 out and I loved having all the windows open. I don't know why I sweat so much lately.
Was going to make meatloaf for dinner, and then noticed I am out of eggs, and here I was at the grocery store yesterday! Oh that ticks me off, when I do those things.

I started to post, got sidetracked, then totally lost it.
Karen, I am trying to get my DH to decide what he wants to do for his birthday. I know it will not be to do outdoor dining.
Marsha, the younger people always feel invincible, so not surprised that boss' son made stupid decisions about what to do with his friends at the cabin. I hope no one else gets sick.
Anngie, glad everything worked out so well with WM pick up. I am just as happy to do my own grocery shopping.
Karen, as far as impossible foods go, they have all kinds of things you can add. I saw the ground coffee, so that was a good one. I wanted the free shipping, and I took plenty of things off the box. The other things that added up were 1 lb almonds, which were $6.99, so same price I pay at Trader Joe's, which I have not been to since before the pandemic, and Dave's Killer Bread, which I have been looking for and have not found. I can get Ezekiel, but not Dave's, and I wanted to try that. The way I am eating is not really a problem, as it is easy to stay away from those things, and it is better for me to just say that I won't eat regular bread, than try to resist when they give it to use with our take-out order. Not sneaking cookies or ice cream, and I check ingredients when I eat and buy. It is just keeping me on my toes, but I will let you know how it goes. I am just tired of tracking and counting.
Gareth, I think you saw the picture of Maddie on Facebook. She just looks so much older, it was fun seeing her yesterday.

The thing about boss' sons' friends at the cottage is boss and mom were there. The whole family was there. They go every weekend in the summer. They have a great big house on the water and they are accustomed to having guests and being out on the boats all day and bonfires and for some reason mom and dad thought they could do that safely. Now he tells me this neighbor up north has one kid with it and that neighbor on the other side has people with it. What did they think would happen when they decided to celebrate the 4th of July with other people like they normally do? I will be shocked if Boss doesn't come down with it. For now he's trying to figure out how to get set up to work from home. He's already called me once today.
