Thanks for the start, Karen.
It is National Mac and Cheese Day. I am a big fan but rarely indulge, because, you know, pasta and cheese.
Karen, I hope the muscles are still loosening up. How are the sinuses today? The city’s schools are due to open August 17. 🤔 I hear you in postponing the travel plans. Cases keep climbing here as well. Iggy and I have decided to only go to Yellow Springs Farmers Market because it is a larger space, people abide by the rules, it opens earlier, the goods are cheaper and they have an artisan bread vendor. I found out yesterday I can order the bread we want online, pay for it and pickup at the market on Saturday.
Becky, LOL on Scooter’s no cat petting rule. The headache hung on until about 4 pm yesterday. Then I finally got some energy to clean out the fridge and disinfect the shelves. I wouldn’t walk in 100° weather either. How is the foot? Did the swelling go down?
Denise, my BIL lives in Amish country in northeast Ohio. Our bed is Amish made and is a work of art. I love looking at their furniture.
Kathy, are you hiding in bed with the covers over your head? That is what I feel like doing. My biggest fear is that people say that are going to vote for Biden but in reality will vote for Trump and this nightmare will never end. I read that a lot of Republican politicians have declined the invitation to the RNC in Jacksonville. 🤨
Linda, I hope the scorching heat subsides soon. The heat is coming back here tomorrow, but to us low 90s is scorching. I am sire you really miss the museum, art classes, Questors and lunch with former colleagues.
It is a Kroger day for me so I will be busy this morning. I checked the eye and the Node is still there. 😔

Good afternoon chicks,
It's been much too long for me posting apparently.
Chele - I stayed inside last weekend as the heat and humidity were brutal. I did the chores I needed to do and ran some errands. Walked the pups and then tried to rest. How long will Nigel be hanging around? How are your sinuses doing? Are you surviving the heat?
Linda - your governor and FLA's gov must have been twins of stupidity. I hope you are hanging in there and staying safe. I know you must miss your activities a great deal. We are actually starting to see a rise in the cases for the 20-29 year olds who apparently think they are invincible. I was hoping to go to the mountains in Vermont in Sept. but am still concerned about travel restrictions. Hope Micki and Bob are doing well.
Becky - too much heat! How's the foot doing? Was there something specific that caused the swelling? How. goes PT? Sounds like Scooter is having a bit of kitty jealousy? We see that happen with Zoe and Wally sometimes.
Kathy - you are in a world of a mess and I can't believe they are opening Disney. The numbers I have seen for the hospitalizations are verging on downright frightening. That is the true denominator of how bad things are. Your ICUs are being over-run and that's not good. I hope you and mom are staying safe and doing well. Sending you much good karma!
Karen - how did the mask making go? How is your headache and how are the sinuses. I am at the new building this week for most of the week; while they do equipment installations. I'm not sure how I would feel about tiny fishes nibbling on me while I swam. They moved SM into the skilled nursing facility last week with no notice to us until after the fact of course. DBIL has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and we are awaiting further information on whether they will be able to do surgery or not. It's a bad situation as there will not be a recovery. I am just trying to keep up getting through each day. Apologies to all for being so remiss in keeping in touch. Please continue to be safe and take good care of you!
Virtual hugs to all and please be safe. Ciao for now~

Karen, thanks for the start. I got interrupted by a phone call last night and never got back to post. DS & DBIL had their anniversary this weekend and went for a hike in that same wilderness park I went to earlier this year. DS said some of the trail was flooded due to all the rain, but they made it to the river and cypress trees. Chele, I do feel like hiding under the covers! I don't think I can take 4 more years of this nightmare either. I'm also afraid that people just won't vote since they don't like either candidate or they'll vote for a 3rd party which basically takes votes away from Biden. I'm wondering if they'll move the convention again due to Florida's numbers. You know it's bad when some of them are afraid enough to break ranks and say they won't show up. We're supposed to have low 90s for the next week or so and thunderstorms. Not complaining compared to the heat in some places. Liz, good to hear from you! Our rising cases started with the younger set going out when the bars opened too. I saw where a group of bar owners are suing the state to reopen. I guess they didn't infect enough people the first time. I heard that some of our ICUs are over 100% capacity which is very scary. They also said some of the COVID units were at 180% capacity if I heard that right. I didn't hear the exact location of the overflowing ICUs, but I think I did hear where Central Florida wasn't quite there yet. South Florida is in worse shape than the rest of the state, but it's still bad almost everywhere. Thanks for the karma. We need it right now! I hope they can contain NY's increase in cases before it gets out of hand. DM is doing fine, but I hate that we're having to waste so much time doing nothing. Very sorry to hear about your DBIL and hope for the best. Take care.

Linda, I feel for all of you in that heat, but Micki most of all. I remember how uncomfortable Phoebe was in the heat, being predominantly black. Arya is predominantly white so she doesn't seem to mind the heat as much. What are your morning lows? I would say unless you are a warrior or have indoor exercise equipment, steps in the house is probably as good as it gets for most people. LOL on entertainment being cleaning toilets and rearranging fridge and freezer. Sometimes pasta is better the second day and it was nice not have to cook again. Oh, Becky, I hate that you have smashed the temperature prediction yesterday. Sorry to hear about the issue with your foot. Where on your foot does the pain seem worse? Do you have PT tomorrow so you can see what they think soon? That is odd about Scooter laying at the front door where it's warmer. and her reaction to your paying attention to the kitties is even weirder. Like Linda's Micki, being black is not an asset for a dog in the heat. Denise, how much covid do you have at your hospital? Good to wear your mask and I hope you aren't getting a face rash from it. Enjoy those raspberries. Yum on mac and cheese, Chele. I have been craving it but it's been too warm to actually make any. Enjoy going Krogering. Yeah, right! Sorry about Nigel, but I hope it at least looked some better. Sinuses were doing pretty well until last night. In addition to swimming yesterday, I sat out on the deck for about 15 minutes in the afternoon. I started feeling a bit congested right before bedtime and was up and down blowing my nose during the night. This morning I wasn't able to get the neti pot to work on both sides, so something is definitely stopped up. DB/DSIL have a huge dining room table (seats 10) that was made by the Amish and it's beautiful like I know your bed has to be. I agree with you on the current polls possibly being deceiving. All we can hope is that the Trump people will get discouraged and stay home. In theory, this should all end one way or another in January 2025 (not that I want another 4 years), unless he can be like his buddy Putin and find a way to circumvent the Constitution and stay in office as long as he wants. However, he is 74 and doesn't seem to be in the greatest of health (despite what he says), so even if he gets another term he may not live long enough to finish it. The KFC and Burger King diet has to catch up with him sooner or later. I heard about the politicians who have announced they don't plan to attend the RNC, but have also heard that there are others who are just not saying but don't plan to attend. The Republican runoff in AL today should be interesting, since several of those with Trump's endorsement have lost and Jeff Sessions actually held the job before. Kathy, I saw DuhSantis had to deal with a heckler at his press conference yesterday. But the guy was spot on with his concerns. It's hard to fathom that many cases happening so quickly. A columnist had a good line on an a.m. news show. Regarding Trump's comment about less testing, the guy took it one step further and said if we only did half as many pregnancy tests, we would only have half as many babies born . I saw a doc on TV talking about how many ICU patients are stuck in the ER because there are no beds in the ICU and no hospitals with beds available to transfer to. When was the last time you had rain that flooded the trail? I'm glad your DS had a good time despite the mud. Thanks for checking in, Liz. Best of luck with those equipment installations and I hope it will give you a bit of a break. Are the 20-29 year olds going to covid parties so they can get infected? That is about the stupidest thing I've ever hear of. If your numbers keep relatively stable, hopefully Vermont would let you go there without a quarantine period. I decided to try to clear up my sinuses at lunch and had some buffalo hummus and what was supposed to be one of the mild jalapenos I planted. Let's just say it wasn't mild. Cleared my head a little. I need to be able to do my bit tomorrow at the filming without coughing, sneezing, etc., so I get the sinuses opened before then. We set a record of 3300+ positives yesterday but are back down to a little more than 1500 today (which is still a lot compared to what we've been having). For a long time, half or more of the cases statewide were in Nashville and Memphis but that is starting to change. We will hit 1K in Sevier County some time this week. We had a local MG Zoom meeting this morning and we were all in denial that the fair will actually be happening. If it does, we may not have any MGs working it. I really don't want to be there, especially since there most likely be many masks if the order expires on August 3rd and they don't extend it. Even being outside in the garden may not be safe enough.

Kathy...sounds just like here with hospitals and lawsuits except that this week the rate of infection dropped by half...between closing bars and the county mask requirement, things are better in new cases by still bad a hospitals...lot of under 44 going in, including teens. A lot of my minority students when I taught had asthma. The gym owners lost. Bars claim a lot were doing it right and suffered for the few ...but controlling drunks? Inside dining even with reduced numbers is not good because if the vent system pushes air from another table to yours, it spreads air borne virus.
Liz, so sorry about your family health troubles.
Karen, not good by you either. Wow. Stay safe and I would not be enthused about other people either! The Trump people still with him will show up. Everybody else needs to get it in gear and not believe the polls..remember 2016? Four more years will destroy completely environments, health care, education, banking regulations and kill us off.
Donuts, brownies.came up on the Roll call thread on over 60s...so at the corner grocery I. So I came home with four cream-filled chocolate cupcakes. it's not like there is a lot of fun these days!
good Thyroid report from endocrinologist ...same med, nodules same size so no needle biopsy...phew. Good for another year. Last biopsy in 2004 came back indeterminate and I had to have surgery...was benign but lost half my thyroid anyway..goiter. Not a good time for surgery these days.
hit grocery for dairy, meat, produce, bread, cold cuts on the way home. Good time as they restock Monday morning and not many people at all
My hair is finally almost to chin, with lot of layers. I want to go back to same length bob like Diane Keaton. DH ought clippers and a barber set...thinks I can overcome my lifelong lack of hair talent...cannot even cut bangs. He is starting to look like Einstein
Finally got my “I am F.I.N.E.“ Tee shirt from Lake bromme Books in Quebec...they are slow or customs is. Louise Penny fans know what it means.
Discovered a favorite New York pizza place reopened by other family member...not just Pizza and it is real deal, not just a label...dinner getting picked up from there tonight. Micki loves Italian and today he is 9.

Happy Birthday, Micki! Hope you get extra treats, sweet boy. Linda, enjoy the pizza. YIKES on the case info. Did you hear that the WH now wants the CDC circumvented on covid data from hospitals? Other countries model their CDCs after ours and now the science disbelievers are going to cut them out of the process. This will not go well. And will we be able to believe the data we get? I don't think so!! Hopefully we can still trust the local numbers.
The avatar is my garden haul this morning. Most of it went into my pasta for dinner.

Thanks for the start Karen.
Chele I rarely indulge in mac & cheese either but I do like it.Scooter seems to have rules about the cats lately especially if they are getting attention from her mama. The foot still hurts and is still swollen. After I showered earlier I couldn't even see my ankle so I'm icing it now.I can't imagine what I did to it.
Liz Good to hear from you.Add my governor to the mix and you will have the triplets of stupidity. It is way too hot.We got up to 105 today.I don't know what I did to my foot but hopefully it will feel better in the morning.I need one good leg to walk on.PT is going very well.I have about 5 degrees to go and the knee will be straight and they are also working with my hips because that seems to affect my walking.Actually Scooter has a whole lot of cat jealousy.I'm sorry about your DBIL.Hang in there.
Karen The pain is mostly on top but it's also swollen and it hurts to put socks on sometimes. It's a good thing I have the recumbent bike.I'm icing now to see if that will help.Scooter just think she is the boss of the pet kingdom.TX had another 10K positive cases.
Linda Happy Birthday to Micki.
