a nurse is an anti-masker? doesn't she wear protective equipment as part of her job? i'd be worried about the level of care i'm getting from someone not bright enough to know what's real and science based vs tinfoil hat ridiculousness. someone needs their license stripped from them.

I really can't anymore. Tired of it all. Part of me thinks this may be the beginning of the end for all of us. We, personally, will simply keep going as we have been and hope that what we are doing is enough to keep safe. If not, well, we did our very best and it wasn't enough. fullmahina , I hate to hear the resignation in your voice with this above quote. There WILL be a vaccine and there WILL be a treatment, we just have to be patient and let the scientists do their thing. And yes, we need to keep doing what WE feel is safest, and if others want to endanger themselves and us, then we can opt to not engage with them. We're with you, and we're doing what you're doing.

surfgirl, I am just disgusted and venting. It's so disheartening to see the stupidity, the willful ignorance---and how so much of it comes from people who are supposed to be leading us through this. All we can do is tough it out and try not to let the morons pull us down. If it were something as simple as differing political views it would be easier but unfortunately this is a real life and death matter. What the idiots are doing can truly affect the lives of others, directly and horrifically. To watch it being played out in real time is heart-wrenching.

fullmahina, I get how you are feeling. It's so maddening that a small percentage of people can affect the whole country, putting us all at risk.

Front page of the Wall Street Journal, picture of German Chancellor Angela Merkel (wearing a mask correctly) pointing a finger at Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov's face (he's wearing his mask below his nose) and asking him to adjust his mask.

I feel you, I feel the same, it's hard to be hopeful sometimes when we see so much stupid out there. I mean, if we had competent leadership at the national level, and there was one clear message, rules, etc. Why can't we be like New Zealand, I ask myself? I think the answer is threefold:
1. We don't have leadership at the highest levels that gives a damn about its citizenry
AND
2. We have a huge problem with selfish, self-centered people who only care about themselves, and are too simple-minded to fathom how their irresponsible actions negatively affect others
AND
3. We have a terrible problem with racism in this country that we thought was on it's way out, but the flames of which have been stoked to levels beyond our imagination. I am sickened to know that John Lewis, who fought his entire life for racial equality, died knowing that hate was back on the front burner in this country. That makes me sad beyond words.
