Deal With Discouragement
For some people dieting starts off easy and then as they go along it seems like it gets harder and they tend to lose some of the motivation and enthusiasm they started with. While it's normal to feel discouraged and have doubts you can stay on your diet to see it to your goal it's not okay to let it overwhelm you.Remind yourself dieting does get easier.
We all need extra motivation from time to time.On pages 189-190 Beck gives us suggestions to get our motivation back:
1.Read your Response cards more often
2.Add up the difficult hours you struggle with your diet vs the hours you don't struggle or don't think about food at all
3.Focus on what you can do today

While I think we have all had times where we lost our motivation and at times maybe we feel like giving up if you look at your day I think you will find you had more success than failure during the day.
My personal favorite is to focus on what I can do today. When I first started on WW the last time at 332 lbs I didn't think there was anyway I could lose 200 lbs.Besides I always ended up gaining my weight back.I was looking at the big picture and not focusing on one day at a time.I started losing weight and even the weeks I had a little gain or maintained I learned I can only do it one day at a time or even one meal at a time.My Dr told me I would be healthy if I weighed 200 lbs. When I got there I found I was healthy but not happy with my weight.I find today I still have no desire to quit but take it one day or meal at a time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I found Linda's and Tammy's conversation at the end of yesterday's thread very enlightening.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Judy has posted a very interesting article about fooling yourself into feeling full.If you have time you might want to read it.You can find it under the Beck Review thread or maintenance on Facebook.I plan on bookmarking that and reading it from time to time.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Have a good day focusing just on today.Tomorrow will take care of itself when you get there.
